• HDMI and DVI connected monitors not in dual view on Windows 7 (Intel onboard Gigabyte)

  I have a HDMI to DVI cable which is connected to one monitor (HDMI is on PC side) and DVI-DVI connected to other monitor. This seems to work up until the system is fully loaded (the startup logo animation is shown on two screens). When and after I log in only one monitor is active (HDMI-DVI). I'm also unable to detect the other monitor (DVI-DVI). Any ideas what might be wrong with the setup? Also when I uninstall the Intel Graphics driver both screens are on, but only duplication works. GA-Z68A-D3H-B3, Intel Z68 Chipset, with fresh VGA driver (15.26.1.64.2618).

• TF2010 Build Definition and Access to Path is Denied error?

  I am new to TFS with regards to build definitions. I have a a build folder setup where I have set the permissons so EVERYONE has full control. Here is the exact error I am getting: E:\Builds\PIMSite\PIM.Site\PIM_Site.metaproj: Unable to copy file "C:\Builds\1\PIM System\PIM Site Build\Binaries\HtmlAgilityPack.xml" to "..\PIM.Site\Bin\HtmlAgilityPack.xml". Access to the path '..\PIM.Site\Bin\HtmlAgilityPack.xml' is denied. I have tried everyhitng. I have removed everything from that folder adn can delete it just fine so it is not being used by another process. Any thoughts?

• Apt Stalls When Using HTTP Sources

  I was getting some to me inexplicable behavior from apt-get/aptitude on an admittedly crusty old webserver. While it was otherwise running fine, as soon as I tried a package upgrade, after a downloading a few updates it would stall completely, then my SSH session hung (and I was unable to reconnect), thus requiring a hard restart. First, I switched to a different package source in /etc/apt/sources.list, but still got the same behavior. At this point I was assuming the NIC was dying in some weird way... but as soon as I changed the package source to use FTP instead of HTTP, everything worked fine, and I was able to upgrade. For now I'm not too concerned since I have an easy work around, but it implies that there's something very weird with my network setup, since it seems to be protocol (or port?) specific. I didn't think any of my NAT setup would affect outbound traffic, but I could be crazy. Any ideas what I should try to look for?

• harddrive problem (usb external)

  Hey guys I am using a Maxtor One Touch 3 given to my by my uncle. It is connected through USB2.0 When I plug it in, XP installs it and says "the device is ready to use". But it dosnt show up on my computer. It dosn't even show up in disk mangement. I then install Acronis Disk Director (which detects it) but marks it as offline. if i try to change it to online, nothing happens. (actually the lights on the HD blink - meaning communication and goes back into offline mode). The lights on the HD return to a solid which mean "working properly". • How to force 640*480@60Hz screen resolution on xubuntu 12.04

  It seems xubuntu won't be able to correctly set resolution at 640*480@60Hz at its Display settings. And I am unable to correctly my super small 6.4 inch Mitsubishi VGA panel via VGA cable. I have tried to hack both X11 conf /etc/X11/Xorg.conf and xfce4 conf, but all the document I can find is outdated. and conf files are changed into other location. Can someone give me a hand and I'll mark correct for other people to use? Thanks! EDIT: The board is an Intel Atom D2700, gpu is SGX545. I tried to use xrandr --output default --mode 640*480 It seems works fine, but refresh rate is 75Hz, but the screen only suports 60Hz So I used xrandr --output default --mode 640*480 --rate 60 but it give error: xrandr: Failed to get size of gamma for output default Can anyone pointing any directions?

• Remote Software Solution that Acts as a Client

  I am looking for something that I am not sure exists. I have a remote computer that will not allow incoming traffic due to ISP blocking of ports(basically double NAT situation that I am unable to get around). I am wondering if I have a computer acting as a client, is there any solution out there that will allow remote access to the computer. I do have other servers on the net that have static IP's that the computer could initiate a connection with. I am thinking of using Debian Linux, However computer is not built yet so OS is not overly important at this point.

• How to make changes in linux maintence mode

  I notice when Linux boots in maintenance mode the filesystem is read-only. Is there a way to change this, perhaps remounting as writable? An example of this being a problem is that I was unable to open vi because there were too many session files.... Not to mention it would be nice to actually fix problems.... What are you meant to be able to do if you can't make any changes to the filesystem? What kind of maintenance can be expected?

• WSUS Showing Incorrect Version & Client Update Failure but they can check-in

  One of the issues we are having is the clients will not download the updates from our WSUS server. They check-in as they are suppose too and find applicable updates but they are unable to actually download and install them. The GPO is set correctly. We decided to install the patch KB2720211to see if it would help eleviate this issue but it did not. In fact, even stranger, if I check the version that is installed on WSUS it reads 3.2.7600.226 but as far as I know it should read 3.2.7600.251. If I check Add/Remove programs to see what Windows Updates have been installed it even lists for WSUS that KB2720211 has been installed at version 3.2.7600.251. To install this update I followed the following directions Question: Has anyone seen this issue where the patch is installed yet not showing the correct version? What can I try to get my clients to update?

  Hi, I'm trying to connect to my HP/UX machine from Mac OS X using Xnest. The problem is that I can not get the keyboard to work. I can see the login-prompt, but unable to type in my username. • how to remotely setup powershell to accept Enter-PSSession

  I have some computers I'm trying to remotely execute powershell commands but I'm running into some snags. For one thing, the computers do not have Enable-PSRemoting enabled so I am unable to simply Enter-PSSession. I tried to run a powershell script through psexec but I have yet to Set-Execution Policy on the machine. My thoughts were to execute a powershell logon script that accomplished this but before I tried this I was going to see if there were any other methods to enable-psremoting on a machine. • Linux: Can I link multiple destinations via softlinks?

  Attempting to end up with something similar to this: $ ls -l lrwxrwxrwx 1 user group 4 Jun 28 2010 foo -> /home/bar lrwxrwxrwx 1 user group 4 Jun 29 2010 foo -> /etc/bar The intention is to be able to move a file to foo & have it go to both destination directories for now. The goal is to eventually unlink /home/bar link after confirming there are no issues with moving the files to /etc/bar. I am restricted in that I am unable to change or add to the process that moves the files.

Also previously I tried to install only Windows 7 on my HDD . I downloaded the ISO from digital river . Made bootable usb . I got the same above error . But when I tried to install it via other usb which had pirated Windows 7 downloaded from torrents it gave no error .   I am trying to get Openfire to install on an Ubuntu virtual machine, however upon completing the web based installer, I am unable to login to the admin panel. So far I: downloaded Debian installer Installed using stock options Added database and built the structure using supplied SQL file Completed web based installer I am now trying to login using username: admin and my password, however I constantly get a wrong username/password error. There is a record generated in the MySQL database showing the admin user with an encrypted password, and changing to an unencoded password doesn't work. What is the problem here?

  I am preparing to migrate a pretty old XP machine to Windows 7. I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor and got a couple of smaller issues (low 512Mb RAM complaints and similar stuff). Apart from that, everything else was shown as compatible, including my old ATI Radeon 9550/X1050 card: ATI Radeon 9550/X1550 Series: This device is compatible with Windows 7. The thing that concerns me is that people around the web seem to be unable to actually find a Windows 7 driver for this card. Even the ATI web page states that this is a legacy device: If the user chooses to, they can install the ATI Catalyst Windows Vista graphics driver under Windows 7. [...] Using the ATI Catalyst Windows Vista driver under Windows 7 is not officially supported by AMD [...] Should I trust the Advisor and continue with the update? Does this mean Microsoft will provide at least a generic driver which will allow hardware acceleration with this card?

  I honestly don't even know where to start.. I created a Windows Server 2012 (Azure) VM, inside of VM I THOUGHT I did everything whatever is required to run ASP.NET application.. BUT that wasn't a case. I'm stuck and unable to run a simple ASP.NET app HelloWorld( and I blame Microsoft! I had everything running before they decided to wipe out my VM so that's why I'm redoing that VM. What can I do to resolve this? Where should I look?   I'm backing up using Duplicity, great tool. I'm unable to include files in the backup that are within a directory that is a symlink. Using the following: duplicity <dup args> --include /var/www/**/current --exclude '**' duplicity will only backup the symlink I've tried: duplicity <dup args> --include /var/www/**/current/* --exclude '**' # and duplicity <dup args> --include /var/www/**/current/** --exclude '**' Not even then symlink is backed up. the "current" directory links to directory like: /var/www/host.com/de9f2c7fd25e1b3afad3e85a0bd17d9b100db4b3 The files contains a few static html & css files. I want those files to be backed up, regardless of which sha'd directory "current" points to. Any help appreciated.

  I have one laptop used by one user that keeps getting the following error and is unable to log in. Trust relationship between this workstation and the primary domain has failed Can anyone help tell me what is causing this and what I can do to stop it happening. I have tried reformatting which helps for a while, I have also tried reformatting with a new name which helped for a while. This problem has not affected any other user or computer which suggests it is not a problem with the domain but I don't know what to do to stop it happening.

• Cant access EC2 hosted website

  For some reason, I am unable to access our website www.doccaster.com (Bad request nginx). We are hosted on amazon EC2 with elastic ip associated to it. The weird part is a) I can access it through the public dns url http://ec2-184-73-195-180.compute-1.amazonaws.com b) My co founder who is located in another city can access it via www.doccaster.com. I observed that my instance was failing reachability check, so I launched a new one and assigned it the the elastic ip. I tried to ping the ip address 184.73.195.180 from my machine but no success. Any help will be really appreciated. More details I ran the following command on my server netstat -lntp | grep -E 'apache|httpd' and it displays :::80 for httpd . Is this accurate ? Should it be 0:0:0:80 ? or doesnt matter?

• how long does noip ddns takes to make the updated address again accessible?

  Yesterday I've created a noip account, I've downloaded the updater client (DUC), I've configured them, and when I've tryied to browse "myaddress.noip.me" all worked fine... When my WAN IP changes, the DUC client quickly updates it in few minutes, and in my account on noip.com I can see that it is also refreshed properly. But the problem is that if I try to browse "myaddress.noip.me" after that update, the page does not load... "Unable to connect to myaddress.noip.me" After 6-7 hours it becomes again accessible, but I'm not sure if this is normal... I think this is too much time... Please help

• Automatically reboot Windows8 if no internet activity [migrated]

  I have a media server located in a very inconvenient part of my house. Occasionally I will have to reset my router or it will reset itself. The issue is the PC loses connectivity for some reason, and I am forced to walk outside, around the house, into the basement, over a bunch of toys and weights and boxes, to push a button to reboot it. I would love to have it check itself every 5-10 minutes and auto reboot if it is unable to ping a given address/IP. Any ideas how to accomplish this?

• Asterisk doesn't start properly at system startup. DNS lookup fails.

  When I start my Ubuntu system it attempts two DNS lookups. One to find out what my internet-routers external ip is. And one to find the IP of my PSTN-SIP-provider. Both fails. [Apr 7 22:14:54] WARNING[1675] chan_sip.c: Invalid address for externhost keyword: sip.mydomain.com ... [Apr 7 22:14:54] WARNING[1675] acl.c: Unable to lookup 'sip.myprovider.com' And since the DNS fails it cannot register properly a cannot make outgoing or incoming calls. If I later, after bootup, restart asterisk everything works excelent. Any idea how I should setup things so that either: Delay Asterisk startup so that DNS is up and healthy first. Somehow get Asterisk to re-try the DNS thing later. Regards Leif

• Search Domain Not Working With Squid

  I just set up a squid proxy as a parent proxy to HAVP. When I or other users try to access a domain with an address like "http://foo" I get the following squid error in the browser: The dnsserver returned: Server Failure: The name server was unable to process this query. However, "http://foo.companyname.com" works fine. The search domain in resolv.conf on both the client and proxy host is companyname.com. (There a better term for "search domain"?) Is there a way to correct this, maybe something in the squid.conf file?.

• print job doesn't go to print queue

  I have two printers hooked up to my intel imac. I am having a printing error. It seems that whenever i try to print (a simple text doc) I am unable to get the print job to go to print queue with one of my printers. I have a HP c7280 and a HP c3100. I am able to get one working properly, but the other doesn't seem to allow it to go to the print queue. I have switched usb cables (with the printer that I know works) and both printers are recognized by the computer in the printer preferences pane. I've tried reseting the printer system in the printer setup utility.. reloaded the drivers from HP.. etc. If anyone has a suggestion or could point me to a little help i'd be VERY grateful Best Regards..
