• Does SQL Server 2005 error message numbers back to the asp.net application?

  I'd like to get the message number and severity level information from SQL Server upon execution of an erroneous query. For example, when a user attempts to delete a row being referenced by another record, and the cascade relationship is "no action", I'd like the application to be able to check for error message 547 ("The DELETE statement conflicted with the REFERENCE constraint...") and return a user friendly and localized message to the user. When running such a query directly on SQL Server, the following message is printed: Msg 547, Level 16, State 0, Line 1 <Error message...> In an Asp.Net app is this information available in an event handler parameter or elsewhere? Also, I don't suppose anyone knows where I can find a definitive reference of SQL Server message numbers?

• Protected flash video (requires HAL) on Gentoo

  I am unable to play "protected" flash video, such as Amazon Prime Instant Video. From what I've read and uncovered, this seems to be due to a lack of HAL being installed on my computer. Confirmation that it is required for protected video can be seen towards the beginning of http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/flash-player-11-problems-playing.html However, hal is not in the gentoo portage tree, and in any case has been deprecated and replaced by udev. How can I go about getting Amazon Prime Instant Video to work again? I was considering grabbing the source from http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/hal but the links there won't load, and trying to install it from old ebuilds or from overlays which claim to still support it (e.g. kde-sunset) result in a compilation error: In file included from addon-generic-backlight.c:38:0: /usr/include/glib-2.0/glib/gmain.h:21:2: error: #error "Only <glib.h> can be included directly." Has anyone else solved this issue?

The usecase Manager has a generalized relationship with the Work Type use case. I'm now writing the use case description for Manager use case. And what is the initiating Actor for this use case. • Easily manage vsftpd virtual users?

  I have a vsftpd server configured with many virtual users. logins are stored in a Berkeley DB file One configuration file exists for each user to define his permissions (read-only or read-write, home directory, etc.). To do that, I use the user_config_dir parameter (set in vsftpd.conf). I am wondering if it would be possible to manage these virtual users from a simple GUI (such as web interface). I have found some tools but they are limited to generic vsftpd configuration, not virtual users management. Otherwise, PAM-MySQL seems to be a good way to manage users efficiently but only username/password and logs can be stored in database, not permissions. Finally, I've found this thread, but the solution is a bit awkward... Is there any way to easily manage the vsftpd users ?

• How to charge an iPhone on a Windows PC without Installing iTunes

  I want to be able to charge my iPhone on my work computer, which is running Windows Server 2008 SP1 64-Bit. When I plug the iPhone in with the USB cable, it will not charge. Windows attempts to locate a driver for the device but only comes up with a generic Camera device and even if I allow that to be installed, the iPhone still does not charge. I have checked the computer's BIOS settings and did not find anything relating to power on the USB devices. I also tried this on ports at the back of the computer in addition to those on the front. The PC is a Dell Optiplex 780. As far as I can tell USB devices do not charge unless Windows has installed an appropriate driver. Since it is a work computer I do not want to install iTunes which does include a driver. I have a workaround that I will post as an answer for reference.

  Senario: Open an account in CRM 2011 beta and click on activities on the left navigation pane, you will now see activities of the selected account and now have two filter drop down lists on the top which allow you to view activities of the account or sub accounts of this account. Is this filter drop downs something customizable or is it a feature only available for system entities (like acitivity)? Is this functionality provided because Activity entity have N:1 relationship with Type of Behavior = System? can we provide the same or similar functionality by using Type of behavior = Parental!?!?   Hi stackoverflow, I apologize in advance for the possible stupidity of this question. However, the following has been the source of some confusion for me and I know the people here will be able to handily clear up the confusion for me. Basically, I would like to finally understand the relationship between any and all of the following terms. Some of the terms I do actually understand pretty well, but some of them are similar in my mind and I would like to once and for all to see their relationships/distinctions laid out all at once. They are: compiler interpreter bytecode machine code assembler assembly language binary object code executable Ideally, an answer would use examples from Java and C++ and other well-known programming languages that a young-ish student like me would be familiar with. Also, if you want to throw in any other useful terms that would be fine too :)

• Parent-Child relation while using object data source

  Hello guys I am experiencing with a class generator I've written, which generates a class for each table in database with each table field as a property and such. Before that, I used to add a typed dataset to the project and add some tables to it. It automatically detected the relationship between tables and when I added a parent table as data source of a datagrid, I could add another datagrid and use the foreing key data member of it's bindingsource to fill it, and when someone moved the focus on parent datagrid, the data in child datagrid would change accordingly. Now that I have my classes, I add an object as data source for my 2 datagrids, but obviously it doesn't detect a parent child relation. But It'd really help if I could have that foreign key relation in my object datasources. Is there any way to have that relation in object datasource?

• How do I get rid of "Trusted Drive Manager"?

  I have a Dell laptop that's been experiencing some weirdness lately. Apparently Dell puts "Trusted Drive Manager" on their hardware.. Well, now I keep getting these errors: I tried uninstalling Dell Data Protection, but it says some other package is required for the installation, which I can't install because I'll get another generic error (Dell Data Protection Access Drivers). This error pops up when I first boot, when I open a save file dialog, when I try to do a disk cleanup. How the hell do I get rid of this!?

• C++: Cannot convert from foo& to foo*

  I have a method: odp(foo& bar); I'm trying to call it: foo baz; odp(&baz); I get a compiler error: error C2664: "odp" cannot convert parameter 1 from 'foo *' to 'foo &' What am I doing wrong? Aren't I passing in a reference to baz? UPDATE: Perhaps I have a misconception about the relationship between pointers and references. I thought that they were the same, except references couldn't be null. Is that incorrect?

• Update Store Logo Programmatically Magento

  I've noticed that magento keeps the URL to the logo it uses for each store you setup in the "core_config_data" table. If I run this SQL: SELECT * FROM `core_config_data` WHERE path = 'design/header/logo_src' I get a list of stores and their associated logo. I also get a config_id and a scope_id. I'd like to be able to update these logo's programmatically behind the scenes but I can't figure out how to relate this table's data back to a store name. config_id and store_id got to somehow link back to another table that sets up the relationship. Magento's EAV model, ugh :) Any ideas?

• After installing updates, Windows 7 reboots when it gets to "Preparing to Configure"

  After letting Windows 7 Pro install updates at shutdown I now cannot get it to boot back up. I have tried selecting safemode, and "last known working configuration" and I get the same results. It gets to the screen and says "Preparing to configure Windows" and then reboots. If it is giving me a BSOD it is happening so fast I can not see it. This is a generic PC that has been running fine for the last year. It had 22 updates to do at shutdown. Windows 7 Pro Service Pack 1 64 bit in an Active Directory Domain.

• Disable Thunderbird "failed to connect" notifications

  My network manager doesn't start until I log in, so for the first ten seconds or so after I login I have no Internet connection. The problem is that I have Thunderbird set to automatically start on login, so it helpfully tells me it "failed to connect" every time I log in. Also, my Internet connection isn't too reliable, so I sometimes get those messages even when I'm supposedly connected. Is there any way to disable these notifications, while still allowing the ones about new mail? • Why is the pavucontrol level indicator jumping while nothing plays?

  The level indicator in the screenshot does jump around even if nothing is playing. The indicator also reasonably represents sound levels when music is playing. I dont have any mediaservers running or noisy browsertabs open. Also no mic connected. When I turn the volume to max in software and on the amp, there is no noise from the speakers at all. Played music is loud and not distorted. Hardware: Realtek ALC889 over optical audio connector to a generic amp. Software: Debian Wheezy with latest backport kernel 3.14 (same thing on wheezy 3.2 stock), wheezy pulseaudio, xfce session, a custom asound.conf that enables pulseaudio to push sound over optical port. /etc/asound.conf pcm.a52 { @args [CARD] @args.CARD { type string } type rate slave { pcm { type a52 bitrate 448 channels 6 card $CARD } rate 48000 #required somehow, otherwise nothing happens in PulseAudio } }

• Relationships via Email Rather Than User List

  I'm new at Drupal, so I may have missed a solution despite a lot of research: I want users to be able to invite non-users and other users into a named relationship they've set up (using e.g. the Friendlist or User Relationships module) using only email addresses and not the user list. I believe that invitations from both of those modules are done only after the inviter selects the invitee after selecting the invitee from a list of all users. Frankly, I would be surprised if no email solution exists since a large site's user list would be daunting. Does anyone know if this is possible using Organic Groups? Thanks very much.

• How to reduce virtual memory by optimising my PHP code?

  My current code (see below) uses 147MB of virtual memory! My provider has allocated 100MB by default and the process is killed once run, causing an internal error. The code is utilising curl multi and must be able to loop with more than 150 iterations whilst still minimizing the virtual memory. The code below is only set at 150 iterations and still causes the internal server error. At 90 iterations the issue does not occur. How can I adjust my code to lower the resource use / virtual memory?   Hi everyone, I have a one-to-many relationship between Part and Params (a "Part" has many "Params). I'm trying to do something naive like this: Part sourcePart = em.find(Part.class, partIdSource); Part destPart = em.find(Part.class, partIdDest); Collection<Param> paramListSource = sourcePart.getParamList(); destPart.setParamList(paramListSource); Basically I want to copy all the parameters from sourcePart to destPart. Hopefully the persistence provider will automatically set the right foreign keys in the Param table/entity. The above code will obviously not work. Is there any easy way of doing this, or do I have to do create a new collection, then add each Param (creating new Param, setting attributes, etc) ?

• How to handle Many-To-Many In Grails without belongsTo?

  I need to create a many-to-many relationship in Grails. I have a "Question" domain and a "Tag" domain. A Question can have 0 or more tags. A Tag can have 0 or more Questions. If I put a "hasMany" on each sides, it gives me an error saying I need a "belongTo" somewhere. However, adding a belongsTo means that the owner must exist... Like I said, a Tag could have 0 questions, and a Question could have 0 tags. There is no concept of an owner, it's a many-to-many! What am I supposed to do?

• How to secure svn+ssh checkout users?

  All our SVN repositories are hosted on a dedicated machine on which all the developers have access. Every now and then we need to checkout a repository on a machine we don't own or operate ourselves. Currently we all use our own system (SSH) account for this, but instead I would like to use some generic 'checkoutsvn' user that can be used for this. This user is only used for checking out from a repository, but should not be allowed to log in to the system (no shell access). I tried to do this by setting the default shell of that account to /sbin/nologin but then SVN fails, as apparently svn+ssh requires shell access. How do you do this? Is there a good solution for this?

  As the title says: What techniques are available for filtering objects when using zodb? The equivalent in SQL terms would be something like filtering results by a date range. Or only returning rows with a particular value set in a column. If I had a series of blog posts and only wanted ones done in the past month, what would I have to do? Is there any way to optimize these kinds of "queries"? My gut tells me iterating over all the objects in a relationship simply to perform a test is less than optimal.

• Jumbo Frames on DIR-655

  I am trying to set up jumbo frames on my gigabit home LAN but no luck so far. My setup is: D-Link DIR-655 router, HW Revision A3, Firmware 1.21 EU Synology DS107+, Firmware 3.0-1337 Laptop w/ Win7 x64, external PCIx NIC managed by "Generic Marvel Yukon 88E8053 based Ethernet Controller" The router is supposed to support jumbo frames but doesn't feature any relevant setting. I set the Jumbo Packet value to 9000 on both the NIC and the Synobox but it doesn't work, ping -f -l 8972 says "Packet needs to be fragmented but DF set". Is there any other setting I overlooked, the DIR-655 doesn't actually support jumbo frames, or what else could be the problem?

  Hello. I want to use foreign keys to keep the integrity and avoid orphans (I already use innoDB). How do I make a SQL statment that DELETE ON CASCADE? Secondly, that using DELETE ON CASCADE. E.g. if I delete a category then it would delete products related to that category even though there are other categories related to those products. The pivot table "categories_products" creates a many-to-many relationship between the two other tables. categories - id (INT) - name (VARCHAR 255) products - id - name - price categories_products - categories_id - products_id
