  Turned out, this question is not easy to formulate for me, but let's try. In Android, pretty much any UI object depends on a Context, and has defined lifetime. It also can destroy and recreate UI objects and even whole application process at any time, and so on. This makes coding asynchronous operations correctly not straightforward. (and sometimes very cumbersome) But I never have seen a real explanation, why it's done that way? There are other OSes, including mobile OSes (iOS, for example), that don't do such things. So, what are the wins of Android way (Activities & Contexts)? Does that allow Android applications to use much less RAM, or maybe there are other benefits?

My intention is to release it on both the iOS platform and the Android platform. My best language is Java, so I would like to use a game engine where I can code with that. Which game engine is the best to accomplish all of this? I know that to make an iOS game with Xcode you need to use a Mac.   I'm currently working on a website which has to stream audio files. Since bandwidth is always an issue, the file size should be as small as possible. I wonder what audio formats I should provide. MP3 - Most common format but low quality, I don't know if it's even required, since AAC is well supported by the browsers incapable of playing free codecs MP4 AAC - Nice quality / small filesize, supported by Safari / Mobile Devices / IE9 / Flash / Chrome A free codec - well, until recently, there only was Ogg Vorbis, but Ogg Opus is standardized now and it's really good! Questions: Is it time yet to use Opus instead if Vorbis? Firefox supports Opus since version 15, and Opera has support on its roadmap - I guess Chrome will follow in the future too. Do I still have to provide an MP3 file?

• urllib alternative for iPhone

  hi, I am trying to create an iPhone application which in some point connects to the internet, fills an on-line form, fetches the resulting website, parses it and returns a string to the user. I want all this process to happen in the background. I know how to do this kind of things with python and urllib but in objc I can't find an alternative, from on-line search I found either sites that explain how to use webkit to retrieve webpages (I suppose this is for displaying them to the user) or how to parse an existing HTML file or string. Since I want the file to be retrieved from the internet and the whole process should be running in the background, neither of these solutions covers my needs.

(I can't read the exact report atm because it has a chance of crashing my machine.) I have the 3D support box enabled. Here is my graphics card: Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset x86/MMX/SSE2. • Best database setup for one click games

  I am building a one click game website/mobile app, and I am debating between using MySQL and MongoDB for the backend. The way I have been exploring it is with a NodeJS/Express/Angular/Passport/MongoDB stack - I have also implemented Socket.io. I have gotten to the point where I am sending data from the flash game to the server (NodeJS). The only data that needs to be sent is basic user information, the players score at the end of each game, and some x,y positions for each players game (for anti-cheating). It seems like MySQL would work fine, but as I am already using MongoDB - are there any major drawbacks to continuing to work with MongoDB on this project?

  I have been a C++,Qt programmer for the last 3.5 years and have hit a plateau in terms of doing something new. Work has been repetitive and routine. I personally believe it is time to move on but off late I am getting more offers in mobile development like Android,Iphone etc. The latest offer I have is for objective-C based profile. I do not have the slightest idea about objective-C apart from that it is Object oriented C resembling C++ but not exactly a clone. Questions in my mind are --what are the pros/cons of this careers switch or for any such switch? --Is it good for one's career to change domains after sometime? --How difficult it is to get back to one's previous area of proficiency?
