• Web App for storing and organize programming information?

  So, I've found myself, after several years of coding (I consider myself a coder, rather than a programmer) full of links and loose snippets and coding tips, all dispersed across the web. In such way it is barely usable, even when every bit is important or interesting. I thought of simply storing the links in delicious or something alike, but it's not really the links I want to keep, I just need the succinth info. So I was thinking to use some web app, something like a wiki, maybe much more simple, so I could access it though my mobile if I need it. I could code it, but as I stated it before, I'm more of a code monkey, and I'm sure my solution would be far from decent... Can anyone give me recommendations on this?

  My first post.  Working with Google Analytics (GA).  What an incredible tool this is for those that are wanting to know about their site traffic.  GA allows the user to drill down to the screen size of any mobile sources that came in contact with his site.  The user is even able to know region demographics of visitors and the types of browsers and languages being used.  This is a great tool to help determine your target audience and what direction of growth one may be needing to take.GA has Real-Time currently in beta but it already allows the user to see some information.  I can already detect that I am viewing my site from Louisville, KY and what page of my site is being accessed.  I highly recommend using GA for the sheer plethora of data available.

  According to this post on Daring Fireball a new iPhone SDK Agreement release in conjunction with the iPhone OS 4.0 announcement today specifically bans any iPhone application not implemented in C, C++ Objective-C or JavaScript. The clear impact here is to the wide array of programs written in languages other than those. Is that your reading of the clause in the new agreement as well? Update: Here is the clause as printed on Daring Fireball: 3.3.1 — Applications may only use Documented APIs in the manner prescribed by Apple and must not use or call any private APIs. Applications must be originally written in Objective-C, C, C++, or JavaScript as executed by the iPhone OS WebKit engine, and only code written in C, C++, and Objective-C may compile and directly link against the Documented APIs (e.g., Applications that link to Documented APIs through an intermediary translation or compatibility layer or tool are prohibited).

• Sharing between new install and Windows 7 boxes not working, either direction. Printers & folders

  I don't seem to be able to share between my Ubuntu (fresh install) and any of my Windows machines. I tried using this guide: How to Share Folders in Ubuntu & Access them from Windows 7. The problems is that I cannot see the Ubuntu machine in my network pane on the Windows machine. Any Ideas of what I should check? Ultimately what I am looking to do is make mobile media server that I can put in the Van, attach a WiFi router, and stream to an iPad, tablet, laptop, etc. Any advice on setting this up would be appreciated.

Problem Exp : Suppose I upload 100 folders of Songs, each folder is for one Album. I want a way to generate a page with all the folders name (Album Name) in it.   I got an element fixed in the center of the screen, having specific dimensions (let's say 500x500). The element has content, which is larger then the height of the element and thus causes scroll bar to appear, which is fine. In FF/WebKit everything works nice. However in IE 7/8 ... content of the fixed element doesn't scroll, or scrolls with HUGE delay. If I change position:fixed to position:absolute, it starts to scroll fine, but with position:fixed... it's just a pain!.. Is it some known issue? Anyone heard/encountered something like that? Any ideas how to deal with such?...

• Automated browsing with javascript?

  I'm trying to do some browser automation, but I'm having some problems. Basically, what I'd like to do is load a set pages, set some forms options, click a button and view the results for each page that I open. Originally, I tried to do this by placing the pages I wanted to automate in iframes and then using javascript to drive the interactions I want in each, but that results in a Permissions Error, since the sites I want to automate are not on my server. Is there any way around this? The other possibility I've thought of is to use QT's webkit class and the evaluateJavaScript method to accomplish what I'd like to do, but this seems a bit more heavy weight for something that is, conceptually, pretty simple.

But I'm worried that there will be legal issues. I'm sorry but I do not know what is the process in doing this. I noticed for example the game Bejeweled Blitz. • Beginner's steps to game programming [on hold]

  I have graduated from university less than 6 months ago and became a B.Eng in Software Engineering. I have moderate understanding of programming experience from languages like C++, Java and C#. But mostly on simple desktop and mobile applications. I've tried some simple Pong-like games but never finished even the smallest game. I have a couple of nice ideas growing (IMO, at least...) in my mind but don't really know where to begin. 2D is way to go, of course, at the beginning. I just want to hear from more experienced game devs how they started out. Should I make a rough outline of the core idea and mechanics and start working on a prototype of core gameplay? Or should I just practice more by making Pong, Asteroids and that sort of games and get an understanding of those before moving on? Thanks to all!

  I'm currently looking for some libraries which might help me during iPhone Development using Appcelerator Titanium. I've heard that since version 1.0 it isn't dependant on webkit anymore and it makes app-development more exiting of course, please correct me if i'm wrong. As many people out there i love Javascript Frameworks such as JQuery and Mootools much, but they were build specifically to do a great job within a browser and most of the functionality is not needed within the environment Titanium now provides (DOM-Manipulation etc). They give you javascript code that you embed in your pages (whichever event you wish to track) and voila..you're done. I have written a native application for Android phones, which is actually an adaptation of the actual web site. Now, I am required to setup Analytics and tracking for this native application. Question: How to do setup a native application for Analytics? We have Java Script code(not Google Analytics but for some other engine) that works for the original web site. Is there a way to incorporate that in the native application? I know Android supports Java Script via WebViews(Webkit);my application does not have webviews, it is native! More information in this previous question. It is working in my computer but some people just see a "cannot found error." What could be the reason? EDIT: I checked on my mobile phone and it works.

  One of the problems web apps have against native apps, especially on the mobile front, is the constant need to re-download each web page on request. Ultimately, this leads to slower performance. Why if web apps only download new pages if they're actually needed, not because they're simply requested. For example: perhaps the server can store a web page version in a cookie. Every slight change to the page on the server-side changes the version number. Now instead of the browser requesting a new page each time, why not just check the version number and have the server send the page if they're different? If the page similar, the user can just use a cached page. I'm sure browsers doesn't necessarily have to change to accommodate changes to this, correct?

  I was long using this to add a glow to focused fields, I accessed my page from Firefox for the first time and realized it doesn't work on it, and most likely not on explorer either. border: 1px solid #E68D29; outline-color: -webkit-focus-ring-color; outline-offset: -2px; outline-style: auto; outline-width: 5px; I had copy pasted it from another page so I'm not quite sure how it works. • I cannot change the screen brightness

  here's my problem: Ever since I installed Ubuntu 12.10 on my computer I haven't been able to change the screen brightness, it was always set to the maximum. I did take a look at this post: Decrease Backlight Below Minimum And it helped me resolved the issue with the unbearable brightness, however one problem persists: I cannot change it through "Brightness & Lock" or the function buttons (F2 and F3), when I press the buttons, the animation shows up but nothing happens. I tried the following: http://www.refreshit.info/2012/08/solved-brightness-increase-and-decrease.html It did nothing... If it helps: I have an HP-dv6 6185la, it has an ATI Radeon 6770M HD card and an Intel HD Integrated Graphics Card It only detects the "Intel® Sandybridge Mobile" Thanks in advance.
