• ATL OR C# for windows shell/namespace extenssion?

  Hi, i have a question, after allot of hours in googling and reading articles, i understood that namespace extenssion in windows is quite tricky (In C++ at least), now i've also seen its possible to do so in C# , but microsft does'nt officaly confirms using .net for namespace extensions... though i have seen very nice commercial Namespace Extenssion framework , but none is free.... so to my question :) , i want to develop my own Namespace Extenssion ,i have C++/C# knwoledge and basic COM/ATL , but if it can be done i prefer c#, so does c# inteop can fully do the work without too many tricks ? or one shall go diving in the ATL to create the neccessary COM objects... and another question , can i program to Windows O/S with C# anything that can be done in C++/ATL/MFC ? thanks!

  Hello everyone! First time using this service for a question. I hope I am not asking something that has already been answered. I attempted to find an answer to my question with the search engine but i was unable to. My question is as follows: Using php, javascript, or anything actually, is it possible for me to track how my users are viewing the pages on my blog/website? Specifically, I want to track the time the user's browser spends reading specific sections of my content on the same page. For example, it would answer questions such as: How much time did someone spend reading the introduction to my article vs the conclusion? (located on the same page) Basically, tracking the "eyes" of a web visitor by looking at where the browser is currently scrolled down the page too. I'm sorry if i'm a bit noob! It was recommended that I ask the same question with regards to C#. ) I am a VB.NET developer with little C# experience (yes, I know I need to write more in C#), looking for small open source projects that demonstrate high unit testing coverage from which to learn. I'm looking for small projects because I don't want to have to wade through a ton of code to get a better understanding of how to apply unit testing in my own situation, in which I write mostly IT business apps used internally by my company. • iPad/iPhone: Form filling application pointers

  Folks, I am starting work on an iPad/iPhone application that is essentially a form-filing UI. The requirement is to present a (rather large) form to the user. The form is composed of sections and questions, like so: Form Question 0.1 Question 0.2 Section 1 Question 1.1 etc. The user can take various paths down the form based on answers to questions. I would like to architect this by defining a declarative markup that can be used to author the form questionnaire including traversal rules. My questions are: Can anyone recommend a markup/language that would satisfy the declaration requirement? Is there any existing library that would ease the implementation as described above? • Using Qtcreator (with Qwt), really basic stuff

  I'm trying to make a Qt program using Qtcreator and Qwt for plotting. I've never used Qtcreator before. I've created a mainwindow and added a Qwtplot widget there (object name: qwtPlot). The widget shows up in the program when I compile and run it. But theres no mention of the qwtPlot object anywhere in the (autogenerated) code so I assume it is being added at compile time from the .ui xml file (or something). My question is that... how do I modify/change the qwtPlot object? Or where should I place the code. I'm having a hard time articulating my question but the question basically is "How do I do anything with the qwtPlot widget which is created (graphically) with Qtcreator?". I've checked some tutorials but in the tutorials they add the widgets manually in the code, but I'd like to use Qtcreator (because my UI will be fairly complicated). This whole Qtcreator is pretty confusing...

• Looking for actively maintained matrix math library for php

  Does anyone know where I might find a PHP matrix math library which is still actively maintained? I need to be able to do the basic matrix operations like reduce, transpose (including non-square matrices), invert, determinant, etc. This question was asked in the past, then closed with no answers. Now I need an answer to the same question.   Hello all, First, let me state what brought this question about: I saw the green checkmark icon in this post and I would like to use it in my own application. However, since it looks so much like the UITableViewCellAccessoryDetailDisclosureButton my assumption is that this green checkmark icon is provided by the iPhone OS in some form or fashion. So, my question is: how can I use the green checkmark icon and/or other OS-provided images in my own applications? • ASP.Net AJAX controls, adding via .ashx page

  Okay, this is a continuation of a previous question of mine, but it is distinct enough to be its own question. Based on user interaction, I'm calling a .ashx handler via a jquery ajax call, and that handler is building some html for me that includes some Telerik controls like a masked textbox (masked for a phone number like "(###) ###-####". I got around all the hurdles of using Render() to get the html output of a server control even when it doesn't have a "Page" object or a ScriptHandler object. However, when I show the control to a user, I see the mask in the text of the textbox, but the mask doesn't "work" in the sense that when a user starts typing, it is as if the mask is really just text. So, my question is, after putting the html code out for a masked textbox, how do I tell whatever javascript is supposed to mask the input to really start masking on that specific control? I really hope this made sense. Please tell me if you need any clarification.

  Looking for the best practice for authentication in MVC I unfortunately didn't find the clear answer to my question. Thinking of the problem I tried to imagine some priciples that could be useful in my design. Well, I would like to use a base AccountController class I want to place all the tables such as "Users", Roles, Rights etc into my own database. But I wouldn't like to implement the standard aspnetdb design (which can be easy got by using aspnet_regsql) So the main question is can I do this without deriving abstract classes like MembershipProvider, RoleProvider etc? What I would prefer not to do is implement all the abstract methods from these classes. The second question is still about the best practice for authentication e.g. for the small projects, for the large ones?

• Android - When to use Service

  This question is related to my previous question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2786720/android-service-ping-url So I have an Android app that on the click of a button, opens up a web page. Now, in the background I want to call another http url for gathering stats. My question is does this have to be a service? I know a service is for background tasks that run for an indefinite period of time, while the user is busy doing something else. In my case, all I really need is to get the URL in the background, not show it to the user, instead show the web page to the user. Can I just not write code to get contents of the http url and fire up the activity that displays the web page? Coz all I want is to get the url in the background and be done with it. Or does this have to be done using the Service class? I am confused. Thanks Chris

This question is independent of the nature of the application, desktop, mobile or browser based. Let's assume you are not able to get region information from another source and you have to choose one language as the default one. The question does apply as well for more case including: * pt-pt and pt-br * en-us and en-gb * fr-fr and fr-CA * zh-cn, zh-tw, .... - in fact in this case I know that zh can be used as predominant language for Simplified Chinese where full code is zh-hans. For zh-tw, zh-hant-tw, zh-hk, zh-mo the proper code (canonical) should be zh-hant. In fact the question can be extended to: How to I determine the predominant languages for a specified meta-language? I need a solution that will include at least Portuguese, English and French.

  Sorry for the question marks, but a simple (I think) question has an impossible solution. From file system, if I click on an image file "Properties | Details tab" I access to many metadata. I need to access from a WPF application to the Description properties (Title, Subject, Rating, Tag and Comment). In particular Tag. I have found a lot of articles, many are very old. A few in WPF and Imaging library. But no one access to that properties. So the question marks: are these properties on image? On file system? • Maths: Determining angle in 3D space

  I hope this is the proper location to ask this question which is the same as this one, but expressed as pure math instead of graphically (at least I hope I translated the problem to math correctly). Considering: two vectors that are orthogonal: Up (ux, uy, uz) and Look (lx, ly, lz) a plane P which is perpendicular to Look (hence including Up) Y1 which is the projection of Y (vertical axis) along Look onto P Question: what is the value of the angle between Y1 and Up? As mathematicians will agree, this is a very basic question, but I've been scratching my head on walls now for at least two weeks without being able to visualize the solution... maybe now too old for finding solutions to school exercises. I'm looking for the scalar trigonometric solution, not a solution using a matrix. Thanks.
