• [C#] Array as DataSource of a DataGrid: how to customize columns?

  In my Windows Mobile .NET application I have a simple array of object with the data I want to display in my DataGrid. To do this, I simply call: myDataGrid.DataSource = myArray; This works, but I have a problem with it: it uses all properties as columns and uses the names of the properties as the column headers. I can't figure out how to customize two things: Select which subset of properties should be displayed as columns (say I have an ID, Name and Value property, I'd only want to show Name and Value); Rename the column headers to make more sense (for example if the property is called ID display a column header saying "Number"). Is this possible at all? As mentioned this is in a Windows Mobile .NET (version 2) application.

• How do you make an in-place construction of a struct casted to array compile in Visual C++ 2008?

  I'm working with quite a big codebase which compiles fine in linux but vc++ 2008 spits errors. The problem code goes like this: Declaration: typedef float vec_t; typedef vec_t vec2_t[2]; The codebase is littered with in-place construction like this one: (vec2_t){0, divs} Or more complex: (vec2_t){ 1/(float)Vid_GetScreenW(), 1/(float)Vid_GetScreenH()} As far as I know, this code constructs a struct, then converts it to an array and passes the address to the function. I personally never used in-place construction like this so I have no clue how to make this one work. I don't maintain the linux build, only the windows one. And I can't get it to compile. Is there some switch, some macro to make vc++ compile it? Maybe there is a similar nifty way to construct those arrays and pass them to the functions in-place that compiles just fine in vc++?

  I have a hexidecimal string that I need to convert to a byte array. The best way (ie efficient and least code) is: string hexstr = "683A2134"; byte[] bytes = new byte[hexstr.Length/2]; for(int x = 0; x < bytes.Length; x++) { bytes[x] = Convert.ToByte(hexstr.Substring(x * 2, 2), 16); } In the case where I have a 32bit value I can do the following: string hexstr = "683A2134"; byte[] bytes = BitConverter.GetBytes(Convert.ToInt32(hexstr, 16)); However what about in the general case? Is there a better built in function, or a clearer (doesn't have to be faster, but still performant) way of doing this? I would prefer a built in function as there seems to be one for everything (well common things) except this particular conversion.

  I wanted to display a long list of strings from an array. Right now, my script run through a for loop echoing each value to the standard output: for value in ${values[@]} do echo $value done Yeah, that's pretty ugly! And the one column listing is pretty long too... I was wondering if i can find a command or builtin helping me to display all those values in columns, like the ls command does by default when listing a directory (ls -C). This is how I write the search (simplified): scope = Invoice.scoped({ :joins => [:disclaimer] }) scope = scope.scoped :conditions => ["Invoice.invoice_num = ?", "#{params[:num]}"] scope = scope.scoped :conditions => ["Disclaimer.body LIKE ?", "%#{params[:text]}%"] However, the above search will search again all versions of the disclaimer. How can I limit the search to only the last disclaimer (i.e. the version integer is the maximum). Please note: Invoice does not keep the version number. New disclaimers will be added to disclaimer table and keep old versions.

  I have a set of bytes I want to apply an sha1 hash to. One hash will be in .net, the other in PHP. Then I'll test to see if they match. In .net, you can create a byte array and use sha.ComputeHash(). byte[] data = new byte[DATA_SIZE]; byte[] result; SHA1 sha = new SHA1CryptoServiceProvider(); // This is one implementation of the abstract class SHA1. result = sha.ComputeHash(data); In PHP, you call sha1($string). I can't do anything about the .net side of the code, but how can I get the same hash out of PHP that .net will generate? Please note: I am ONLY able to work on the PHP side of this.   I'd like to pass an associative array (or simply an object with property names & values) to my ActiveXObject. I can't find anyone who has successfully and simply passed complex data from javascript to an ActiveX object. My ActiveX object is being loaded in IE, and it's mine so I can change the method signature & code to whatever will work. I also have control over the structure of the javascript. Without a simple way of doing this I'm thinking of url-encoding the data and sending it as a string. But that does seem a little silly if it's possible just to pass an object. The ActiveX object is coded in C# if that makes any difference...

Could please help me find one or more ways to this? I want it to be circular, i.e., if my fisrt point of the a set is the last element in the array, the 2nd element will be the 3rd in the list and the 3rd in that set will be the the 2nd element in the list, and so on. They must be consecutive, that's all.

  As an example say I have a class foo that does not have a default constructor but one that looks like this foo:foo(int _varA,int _varB) { m_VarA = _varA; m_VarB = _varB; } How would I allocate an array of these. I seem to remember trying somthing like this unsuccessfully. foo* MyArray = new foo[100](25,14). I don't think this will work either. foo* MyArray = new foo[100](25,14) Can this be done? I typically do this by writing the default constructor using some preset values for _varA and _varB. Then adding a function to reset _varA and _varB for each element but that will not work for this case. Thanks for the help.
