  • Converting linear colors to SRGB shows banding in FFmpeg

    - by user1863947
When I convert an EXR file sequence with x264 using FFmpeg and convert the colorspace from linear to SRGB (with gamma 0.45454545) I get some heavy banding issues (most visible on a dark gradient). Here is the ffmpeg command I use: C:/ffmpeg.exe -y -i C:/seq_v001.%04d.exr -vf lutrgb=r=gammaval(0.45454545):g=gammaval(0.45454545):b=gammaval(0.45454545) -vcodec libx264 -pix_fmt yuv420p -preset slow -crf 18 -r 25 C:/out.mov Here is the output: ffmpeg version N-47062-g26c531c Copyright (c) 2000-2012 the FFmpeg developers built on Nov 25 2012 12:25:21 with gcc 4.7.2 (GCC) configuration: I'm trying to record a video stream from my Tenvis IP camera with motion 3.2.12 on Debian 7.5. I used the standard debian package with sudo apt-get install motion Assume my DNS IP cam is webcam, user : admin, password : password /etc/motion/motion.conf Bellow are my configuration file settings : netcam_url http://webcam/videostream.cgi netcam_userpass admin:password target_dir /media/videos/log/motion # The mini-http server listens to this port for requests (default: 0 = disabled) webcam_port 1234 ffmpeg_cap_new on ffmpeg_video_codec mpeg4 output_motion off snapshot_interval 0 # Quality of the jpeg (in percent) images produced (default: 50) webcam_quality 50 # Output frames at 1 fps when no motion is detected and increase to the # rate given by webcam_maxrate when motion is detected (default: off) webcam_motion on # Maximum framerate for webcam streams (default: 1) webcam_maxrate 15 # Restrict webcam connections to localhost only (default: on) webcam_localhost on # Limits the number of images per connection (default: 0 = unlimited) # Number can be defined by multiplying actual webcam rate by desired number of seconds # Actual webcam rate is the smallest of the numbers framerate and webcam_maxrate webcam_limit 0 control_port 8080 control_authentication admin:password Issue #1 when I try display http:/localhost:1234 the browser looks frozen, no HTTP 404 received but it stills waiting for data it seems .. - by Kodi Lane
I have a tumblr theme seen on http://www.kodilane.com and i am trying to make my Video Posts full screen. I have tried editing the code but i can only get the pictures to stretch. I have attached the template i have so far, if you can spot the changes that need to be done to make the video posts stretch full screen like the pictures do i would really appreciate it. Thank You - Kodi <!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head> <title>{Title} {block:PostSummary}- {PostSummary}{/block:PostSummary}</title> <link rel="shortcut icon" href="{Favicon}"> <link rel="alternate" type="application/rss+xml" href="{RSS}"> {block:Description} <meta name="description" content="{MetaDescription}" /> {/block:Description} <meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; • New build won't POST, no video, no beeps

    - by Nate Koppenhaver
Specs: Motherboard: MSI 760GM-P23 FX Integrated graphics (on MoBo) CPU: AMD Athlon II x4 640 RAM: GeIL Pristine 4GB DDR3 Case/PSU: TOPOWER TP-4107BB-400 Is not POSTing, no video output, no beeps. When RAM is removed, 3 beeps. I have tried removing and replacing the CPU and all the power cables with no change. Resetting the BIOS (by removing and replacing the battery) did nothing as well. Is there something I'm forgetting (1st time building from components), or could one of the components be bad? EDIT: New development: with CPU and RAM installed correctly, it will turn on lights and fans (still no POST) and after running for a minute or so it will turn off and the PSU will make a buzzing noise that ceases only when unplugged.

  • Non-flash / No-plugin Video chat?

    - by matty
We are developing a social website and looking to implement video/audio chat for users (people a user is friends with). Most of the talk from the tech team was to use flash. But I don't want users to install anything. Can video/audio/conferencing be done purely in AJAX? Either develop it from scratch or use open source frameworks if any?

  • Weird video problem with Linux variants

    - by alex
I decided recently I wanted to give Linux a go so I first download a Ubuntu boot CD. The boot menu came up fine, and then a glowing Ubuntu logo was in the middle of the screen for a while. Then the screen was flickering orange and black. I guess this is where the GUI should of came up. Pushing Ctrl+Alt+F1 brought me to the command prompt OK. I thought this may have something to do with Ubuntu, so I downloaded Linux Mint. The same sort of thing happened. It booted fine, displayed it's logo for a while and then flickered, only green and black this time. Does this sound like a video card problem? How can I resolve this? Many thanks

  • procfs and youtube flash video

    - by trideceth12
Up until recently (about 3 months ago), ALL open flash videos had deleted file handles in the procfs virtual folder for the flash plugin, I could see them thus: ps x|grep flash cd /proc/#PROCESS#/fd ls -l cp #FILE# ~/ This still works for the vast majority of flash video, but some YouTube videos no longer keep this open file handle. My questions are: A) Why not? B) Where are these files now stored? C) How can I get this file Yes I know I could probably get a browser plugin, it just annoys me that they are hiding these files so I want to keep doing it the hard way.

  • Dual HDMI input - HD Video Capture Card

    - by Shivan Raptor
Any suggestion for HD video capture card? Here is my requirements: I need 2 HDMI input for 2 HD Camera the signal captured will be encoded with Adobe Live Encoder (does it support dual input sources? I do not require mixing of 2 sources) the encoding format will be H.264 (720p), then will be sent to Adobe Flash Media Interactive Server for LIVE broadcasting. http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/ I found the one above online, but I am not sure about its performance, and it has only 1 HDMI input. If I plug 2 of them into my workstation, will it conflict with each other?

  • How to add higher video resolution in Ubuntu 10.04 (UNR on EEE1101HA)

    - by lexu
I picked up an ASUS EEE 1101HA with Windows 7 and installed UBUNTU 10.04 Netbook Remix (dual boot). Ubuntu runs fine, but it doesn't recognize that the notebook LCD is 1388x768 and thus only offers 1024x768 and 800x600 as monitor resolution. So .. how can I tell it about that higher resolution? (Have root pwd & vi, una-bash-ed to use both.. ) UPDATE there is currently (early May 2010) no video-driver for the Intel GMA500 "Poulsbo" => no solution exists for now.

  • What should be the architecture of an urban game system?

    - by pmichna
I'm going to develop an urban game using a telco API for phone geolocation and sending/receiving messages. A player would pick up one of the scenarios, move around the city and when he hits a given location, he gets a message and possibly has to answer it. I'm wondering, what approach would be the best in my case. I came up with this general idea: Web application as a user interface (user registration, players ranking, scenarios editing) written in Ruby on Rails. Game server (hosting games, game logic like checking players location, sending and receiving messages) written in Ruby. Database (users, scores, scenarios etc.), probably MySQL or someother open source DB. I want to learn Ruby and RoR, that's why I chose these language and framework. Do you think it's a good choice for a game server? Another question: is this project division good? I mean, I have little experience with Ruby and Rails - that's why I'm asking. Maybe it's better to have web application merged with game server and somehow have the server hosting RoR application do the tasks like mobile phone pinging and message sending? How would that be performed? Maybe this is worth mentioning: the API is RESTful, most results are JSON, few are XML.

  • Mac/iPhone:Streaming video file to iPhone

    - by user34157
Hi, I am redirecting my question to superuser from stackoverflow: I have a http streaming link which gives me .flv streaming feed. I want to convert that and access in my iPhone program. How can i do that? I want to have a desktop software like VLC and input this streaming feed URL and convert to iPhone supported and stream again to iPhone. I tried VLC with H.264 and Mpeg-1 audio, but seems to be it doesn't give the supported format, so as iPhone program doesn't play the video. Could someone please guide me how can i setup a desktop software which can stream iPhone supported file? Thanks in advance.

  • What are some small, but extendable game ideas to use for inspiration?

    - by Earlz
I recently came across the game Dopewars(or more generically, Drugwars). Now this is an extremely simple game to implement. A trivial basic implementation could be done in a couple of days, at the most. And it's extremely extendable. Now, my question is what other games are out there that follow this same kind of "difficulty level" for implementation? A game that is actually entertaining, yet trivial to implement, and can easily be extended?

  • How to manage two video cards on a laptop that runs Ubuntu 10.10?

    - by Marc-François Cochaux-Laberge
I have a laptop with two video cards. One ATI and on integrated Intel. On Windows, I can choose which video card I want to use. For example, I use the Intel card for normal use and for gaming, I switch to my ATI card for better performance, but a shorter battery life. In Ubuntu 10.10, only the Intel driver is installed, the ATI driver for my card doesn't work at all and there's heat coming out of my computer all the time, like when I'm playing video games on Windows. I think both cards are active, but only the Intel one is usefull. How can I solve this by making sure Ubuntu is aware of the two video cards and by disabling my ATI. Or may be I am all wrong about this?

  • ATI video cards - unable to use entire monitor (1080p)

    - by Walter White
Hi all, I have a Dell s2409w, 24" 1080p monitor. With nVidia, I would plug-in the monitor and voila, it automatically knew it was 1080p (1920x1080). I have both a Windows laptop and Ubuntu laptop. Neither is capable of using the fullscreen even though the monitor reports the input is 1080p. I am connecting the monitors via HDMI, is there a 'special' setting I am missing to make this work? Otherwise, I like the performance of my ATI video cards, the drivers seem to be stable and reliable. Thanks, Walter
