  • In-Page RSS Reader (Flash? Javascript?)

    Has anybody ever seen any (no-installs-necessary) solutions to listing any RSS feed on any page of a website? Ideally it would consist of HTML (javascript if necessary) and require no downloads or installs. I am thinking of twitter-style apps that you load up in an iframe or via Javascript and in turn they show your latest tweets on the page - same concept, different content. Just looking for a shiny gadget, not able to write my own solution for this particular project.

What does work, and is simpler, is this, instead of the above: private static Feed getFeed(Node node) { Feed f = FileUtil.getConfigObject("RssFeeds/sample.instance", Feed.class); if (f == null) { throw new IllegalStateException("Bogus file in feeds folder: " + node.getLookup().lookup(FileObject.class)); } return f; } So, the code needs to be fixed in the sample.

  • Re. copying movie from USB card reader back to my camera

    I have a Canon Digital Ixus 860IS. I originally copied a short movie from my camera onto the computer via a USB card reader and then copied it back onto the camera via the same USB card reader along with some photos. The photos have copied back fine but the movie, although it's showing to have copied, can't be seen. Any reason for this? Thanks

Currently it is pretty slow reloading my 54 RSS feeds that I keep tabs on. There are some features I would like it to have.     Possible Duplicate: Is there a canonical book for learning Java as an experienced developer? Let me elaborate a little: I used to be a C/C++ programmer where I used data structure concept like trees, queues stack etc and tried to optimize as much as possible, minimum no. of loops, variables and tried to make it efficient. It's been a couple of years that I started writing java codes, but it is simply not that efficient in terms of performance, memory intensive etc. To the point: I want to enter programming challenges using java so I need to improve my approach at things I program. So please suggest me some books that can help me learn to program better and have a chance in solving challenges in programming.

    This question got me thinking. I would say I am a pretty experienced C++ programmer. I use it a lot at work, I had some courses on it at the university, I can understand most C++ code I find out there without problems. Other languages you can pretty much learn by using them. But every time I use a new C++ library or check out some new C++ code by someone I did not know before, I discover a new set of idioms C++ has to offer. Basically, this has lead me to believe that there is a lot of stuff in C++ that might be worth knowing but that is not easily discoverable. So, is there a good book for a somewhat experienced C++ programmer to step up the game? You know, to kind of 'get' that language the way you can 'get' Ruby or Objective-C, where everything just suddenly makes sense and you start instinctively knowing 'that C++ way of thing'?

    At Convergence Address Book the default lookup for 'Display Name' is the LDAP attribute 'cn', which leads into confusion if you start to setup 'displayName' LDAP attributes for your users. LDAP User Entry with diaplyName attribute: This behavior can be controlled by the configuration file xlate-inetorgperson.xml.   • Good book or tutorial for learning how to apply integration methods

    I'm looking to animate a graph layout using edges as springs and nodes as weights ( a node with more links will have a bigger weight ). I'm not capable of wrapping my head around the usage of mathematical and physics relations in my application. As far as i read, Runge Kutta 4 ( preferably ) or Verlet will be a good choice, but i have problems with understanding how they really work, and what physics equations should i apply. If i can't understand them, i can't use them. I'm looking for a book or a tutorial which describe the things that i need.

  • Can't install lua on 12.04 on Chrome book

    I am currently trying to install lua on my Ubuntu 12.04 on Chrome book and I keep getting this error: I'm doing good learning different programming languages (self taught) and well I wanted to start learning Lua. That error is keeping me from doing that unfortunately. I've tried doing it with and without of root access and still no success. Does anyone know what might be causing the problem or of a different way of installing Lua? Thanks a ton! Don't mind the top of the image just me taking out my frustration.

    I have recently inherited a team of developers, none of whom really have any programming experience. Some are really bright, and are learning on their own. I am looking for one or two books that are practical but show the core practices of professional development: Structure, OO, naming, DRY, why elegance matters, etc. When I was learning, I loved Code Complete, and Programming Pearls, but they are dated now.     I am looking for some resources on the JVM bytecode. Ideally I would for a short book; something more than a blog post but not a 800 pages tome. If it is relevant, I am a Scala developer, not a Java one, although I know Java just fine. I would like something that allowed me to read JVM bytecode and answer questions such as: Why does the bytecode has to know about high level construct such as classes? Are subtyping relations still visible in bytecode? How does type erasure work exactly? How do Oracle and Dalvik bytecode differ, and what consequences does this have for, say, developing Android apps with Scala? How does the JVM manage the stack, and why exactly this creates issues with tail call elimination? and so on.
