  • jquery hover issue

    - by jay
    hi, i have mouseover issues sometimes when i move my mouse fast over links it loops for quite a while, is there a way to only loop if mouse is stil over and stop if the mouse is not. $('ul.display li').hover(function() { $('ul.display li').find('#details').hide(); // hides all deatils div before showing $('#light').delay('800').fadeIn("fast"); // shows div that fades out all other content. if($.cookie("switch_thumb") =="thumb_view" || $.cookie("switch_thumb") =="null"){//checks for cookie set for display type $(this).find('#details').delay('900').animate({width:'toggle'}); // grow width }else{ $(this).find('#details').delay('900').animate({height:'toggle'}); // grow height } }, function() { $('#light').fadeOut("fast"); // dim the light to show all content $('ul.display li').find('#details').hide(); //hide all details return false; // supposed to stop looping. });

  • ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor executing a wrong time because of CPU time discrepancy

    - by richs
    I'm scheduling a task using a ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor object. I use the following method: public ScheduledFuture<?> schedule(Runnable command, long delay,TimeUnit unit) and set the delay to 30 seconds (delay = 30,000 and unit=TimeUnit.MILLISECONDS). Sometimes my task occurs immediately and other times it takes 70 seconds. I believe the ScheduledThreadPoolExecutor uses CPU specific clocks. When i run tests comparing System.currentTimeMillis(), System.nanoTime() [which is CPU specific] i see the following schedule: 1272637682651ms, 7858346157228410ns execute: 1272637682667ms, 7858386270968425ns difference is 16ms but 4011374001ns (or 40,113ms) so it looks like there is discrepancy between two CPU clocks of 40 seconds How do i resolve this issue in java code? Unfortunately this is a clients machine and i can't modify their system.

  • jQuery Tooltip plugin error

    - by hd
    i have written this code to apply 'jQuery Tooltip plugin' to ajax loaded elements. i mean the row i want to show tooltip on its mouseover is loaded into page by ajax. here's the code: $("[id^=pane]").delegate("[id^=comm]","mouseover",function() { $(this).tooltip({ // each trashcan image works as a trigger tip: "#tooltip", // custom positioning position: "center right", // move tooltip a little bit to the right offset: [0, 15], // there is no delay when the mouse is moved away from the trigger delay: 0 }).dynamic({ bottom: { direction: "down", bounce: true } }); }); the tooltip is shown when mouseover but firebug report this error: "$(this).tooltip({tip: "#tooltip", position: "center right", offset: [0, 15], delay: 0}).dynamic is not a function" is it because of using $(this) ???

  • What will happen if the code can't finished on time...

    - by Tattat
    If I set a timer to execute a code every 3 seconds. If the code isn't finished in 3 seconds, what will happen? The computer will terminal the code or wait for the code finish or continue the timer, and execute the code with the unfinished code concurrently. int delay = 0; // delay for 0 sec. int period = 3000; // repeat 3 sec. Timer timer = new Timer(); timer.scheduleAtFixedRate(new TimerTask() { public void run() { // Task here ... // It may take more than 3 sec to finish, what will happen? } }, delay, period);

  • Delayed evaluation in Clojure

    - by StackedCrooked
    I'm having some trouble understanding how the delay macro works in Clojure. It doesn't seem to do what expect it to do (that is: delaying evaluation). As you can see in this code sample: ; returns the current time (defn get-timestamp [] (.getTime (java.util.Date.))) ; var should contain the current timestamp after calling "force" (def current-time (delay (get-timestamp))) However, calling current-time in the REPL appears to immediately evaluate the expression, even without having used the force macro: user=> current-time #<Delay@19b5217: 1276376485859> user=> (force current-time) 1276376485859 Why was the evaluation of get-timestamp not delayed until the first force call?

  • How to reduce latency of data sent through a REST api

    - by Sid
    I have an application which obtains data in JSON format from one of our other servers. The problem I am facing is, there is is significant delay when when requesting for this information. Since a lot of data is passed (approx 1000 records per request where each record is pretty huge) is there a way that compression would help reducing the speed. If so which compression scheme would you recommend. I read on another thread that they pattern of data also matters a lot on they type of compression that needs to be used. The pattern of data is consistent and resembles the following :desc=>some_description :url=>some_url :content=>some_content :score=>some_score :more_attributes=>more_data Can someone recommend a solution to how I could reduce this delay. They delay is approx 6-8 seconds. I'm using Ruby on Rails to develop this application and the server providing the data uses Python for the most part.

  • BizTalk host throttling &ndash; Singleton pattern and High database size

    - by S.E.R.
    Originally posted on: http://geekswithblogs.net/SERivas/archive/2013/06/30/biztalk-host-throttling-ndash-singleton-pattern-and-high-database-size.aspxI have worked for some days around the singleton pattern (for those unfamiliar with it, read this post by Victor Fehlberg) and have come across a few very interesting posts, among which one dealt with performance issues (here, also by Victor Fehlberg). Simply put: if you have an orchestration which implements the singleton pattern, then performances will continuously decrease as the orchestration receives and consumes messages, and that behavior is more obvious when the orchestration never ends (ie : it keeps looping and never terminates or completes). As I experienced the same kind of problem (actually I was alerted by SCOM, which told me that the host was being throttled because of High database size), I thought it would be a good idea to dig a little bit a see what happens deep inside BizTalk and thus understand the reasons for this behavior. NOTE: in this article, I will focus on this High database size throttling condition. I will try and work on the other conditions in some not too distant future… Test conditions The singleton orchestration For the purpose of this study, I have created the following orchestration, which is a very basic implementation of a singleton that piles up incoming messages, then does something else when a certain timeout has been reached without receiving another message: Throttling settings I have two distinct hosts : one that hosts the receive port (basic FILE port) : Ports_ReceiveHostone that hosts the orchestration : ProcessingHost In order to emphasize the throttling mechanism, I have modified the throttling settings for each of these hosts are as follows (all other parameters are set to the default value): [Throttling thresholds] Message count in database: 500 (default value : 50000) Evolution of performance counters when submitting messages Since we are investigating the High database size throttling condition, here are the performance counter that we should take a look at (all of them are in the BizTalk:Message Agent performance object): Database sizeHigh database sizeMessage delivery throttling stateMessage publishing throttling stateMessage delivery delay (ms)Message publishing delay (ms)Message delivery throttling state durationMessage publishing throttling state duration (If you are not used to Perfmon, I strongly recommend that you start using it right now: it is a wonderful tool that allows you to open the hood and see what is going on inside BizTalk – and other systems) Database size It is quite obvious that we will start by watching the database size and high database size counters, just to see when the first reaches the configured threshold (500) and when the second rings the alarm. NOTE : During this test I submitted 600 messages, one message at a time every 10ms to see the evolution of the counters we have previously selected. It might not show very well on this screenshot, but here is what happened: From 15:46:50 to 15:47:50, the database size for the Ports_ReceiveHost host (blue line) kept growing until it reached a maximum of 504.At 15:47:50, the high database size alert fires At first I was surprised by this result: why is it the database size of the receiving host that keeps growing since it is the processing host that piles up messages? Actually, it makes total sense. This counter measures the size of the database queue that is being filled by the host, not consumed. Therefore, the high database size alert is raised on the host that fills the queue: Ports_ReceiveHost. More information is available on the Public MPWiki page. Now, looking at the Message publishing throttling state for the receiving host (green line), we can see that a throttling condition has been reached at 15:47:50: We can also see that the Message publishing delay(ms) (blue line) has begun growing slowly from this point. All of this explains why performances keep decreasing when a singleton keeps processing new messages: the database size grows and when it has exceeded the Message count in database threshold, the host is throttled and the publishing delay keeps increasing. Digging further So, what happens to the database queue then? Is it flushed some day or does it keep growing and growing indefinitely? The real question being: will the host be throttled forever because of this singleton? To answer this question, I set the Message count in database threshold to 20 (this value is very low in order not to wait for too long, otherwise I certainly would have fallen asleep in front of my screen) and I submitted 30 messages. The test was started at 18:26. At 18:56 (ie : exactly 30min later) the throttling was stopped and the database size was divided by 2. 30 min later again, the database size had dropped to almost zero: I guess I’ll have to find some documentation and do some more testing before I sort this out! My guess is that some maintenance job is at work here, though I cannot tell which one Digging even further If we take a look at the Message delivery throttling state counter for the processing host, we can see that this host was also throttled during the submission of the 600 documents: The value for the counter was 1, meaning that Message delivery incoming rate for the host instance exceeds the Message delivery outgoing rate * the specified Rate overdrive factor (percent) value. We will see this another day… :) A last word Let’s end this article with a warning: DO NOT CHANGE THE THROTTLING SETTINGS LIGHTLY! The temptation can be great to just bypass throttling by setting very high values for each parameter (or zero in some cases, which simply disables throttling). Nevertheless, always keep in mind that this mechanism is here for a very good reason: prevent your BizTalk infrastructure from exploding!! So whatever you do with those settings, do a lot of testing and benchmarking!

  • How to Create a Realistic Timeline for your Projects

    - by Aditi
    Developing a Realistic project time line is a biggest and most challenging task of any team. We here at JustSkins, have learned over time that developing and adhering to a timeline isn’t easy but is not impossible. Keeping in consideration from any technical glitches to a human resource issue, unexpected complications can come up at any time during the entire project life cycle, How ever there are many things you can do in order to save the project from going off-track there. A specific timeline is very important statistic for time management planning and keeping your client informed of the progress. Have a rigid time tracking assures the client, that you are committed to achieving specific project milestones in time. The more you work on varied IT projects, the more you know about the aspects of project and you get to better develop future estimates and timelines. Make a Structure When estimating the time required to accomplish each task, consider which all team members will be involved, also assign the amount of time each individual must put in to the project. Define Scope & dependability and set deadlines for accomplishing them. Sometimes Working in Phases or modules help in doing more in lesser time. One must use a Project management tool in order to systematize the collaboration between the team members. Realistic Goal Setting One approach is to keep a bandwidth of few days to deal with delay, errors & incorrect coding issues you are likely to have in the course. It is very realistic to keep delivery date to client different then internal delivery timeline. If your resource is having hard time finishing this task in the time specified, keep some room to give him a day or two extra to accomplish his task. This does not upset client delivery and is the safe way of doing projects. Keep and Insightful Approach Identify potential problems before they delay your project. To be a great IT manager you have to be honest & diplomatic at the same time, it is essential for you to give earlier notice of potential delays or scope changes to your clients. In situation where delay is inevitable you should be in a position to provide immediate, on-demand status progress reports. Learning from past experiences if very important one must keep a track of actual time spent on all aspects of the projects, this will help you create better future estimates and timelines.

  • Recap: Oracle at the Gartner Business Intelligence Summit

    - by kimberly.billings
    Getting to Vegas was no fun. As anyone who lives in the Bay Area knows, the SF airport shuts down one runway when it rains, causing major havoc. So rain, rain, rain on Sunday meant delay, delay, delay at the airport. Needless to say, my 6:30 pm flight didn't land in Vegas until 3:00 am! But the travel pains were worth it. There was a lot to be learned at the Gartner BI Summit this year, and the uptick in attendance was reflected in strong booth traffic and engaging conversations in the Oracle booth. Oracle customer, Dawn Conant, Director, Business Intelligence at Beckman Coulter, generated a lot of interest in her presentation about migrating from Business Objects to Oracle Business Intelligence, Enterprise Edition with Oracle Database 11g. Dawn's story was a very relatable one, as many of the attendees had plans for similar projects. One of the most interesting Gartner-led sessions compared BI/DW megavendors, IBM, Oracle, SAP and Microsoft. According to Gartner analyst Rita Sallam, these megavendors control about two-thirds of the BI market. Sallem attributes this in part to the fact that organizations are expanding their definitions of BI to also include analytics and performance management. In doing so, they require greater integration of BI applications with a broader set of applications and middleware. In a related session, a panel of Gartner analysts compared the Magic Quadrants for BI Platforms; CPM; Data Quality; Data Integration Tools; and Data Warehouses. Oracle is a leader in all of the Magic Quadrants in which it participates and has the most complete stack including hardware and software, according to Donald Feinberg. Feinberg also commented that in situations with VLDW and solid mixed workloads, Oracle Exadata is making a big difference! var gaJsHost = (("https:" == document.location.protocol) ? "https://ssl." : "http://www."); document.write(unescape("%3Cscript src='" + gaJsHost + "google-analytics.com/ga.js' type='text/javascript'%3E%3C/script%3E")); try { var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker("UA-13185312-1"); pageTracker._trackPageview(); } catch(err) {}

  • Slower Rate of Convergence for U.S. GAAP and IFRS

    - by Theresa Hickman
    The original date of June 30, 2011 where FASB and IASB would align/converge major areas of accounting has been extended to the end of 2011. They will still meet the June 2011 date for many "urgently required" projects but some projects will not come until the second half of 2011. The reason for this is to allow more time for due diligence, review and consensus. Will this delay the U.S. adoption to IFRS? According to Ms. Schapiro, no, it will not; she is confident that the decision to adopt IFRS in the U.S. will be decided by 2011. I personally hope so because I fear that if the decision is delayed further, it might seep into the 2012 presidential election which could delay the adoption further. For more information, see reuters.com.

  • How do I cancel a time-delayed screenshot?

    - by coversnail
    I'm using the default screenshot application that comes with Ubuntu gnome-screenshot When I was using it earlier to take screenshots of the lock screen I had set a long time delay, but forgot to change it back after I'd finished. When I next took a timed screenshot I had to wait a long time for it to take because the delay was still set so long. Clicking the icon to relaunch the screenshot application has no effect whilst the timer is in effect, I imagine there is probably a simple terminal command to shut down an application, but I don't know it! Is there a way to do this?

  • How can i get almost pixel perfect collision detection in a multiplayer game?

    - by Freddy
    I'm currently working on a multiplayer game for iPhone. The problem i have, as with all multiplayer games, is that the other user will always see everything at a non-constant delay. The game I'm making need to have a almost pixel perfect collision detection, but 1 or 2 pixels off is not that big of a deal. How can I possibly get this working? I guess I could just set local player to also be at X ms delay. However this will probably just be worse and feel sloppy when the user input. I know this problem is probably something network programmers deal with everyday and I would be glad if someone could give me a possible solution for this.

  • How to fix LibreOffice 3.5 to start from launcher icon?

    - by Bucic
    Recently I installed LibreOffice 3.5 from debs (including the ones for desktop integration. Since then it behaves in a weird manner. Basically it won't launch from launcher shortcuts. Example: dash libreoffice launched (launcher shows with 2 seconds delay) 'keep in launcher' LO closed the LO icon on the launcher clicked pulsating for 5 seconds, then stops LO didn't launch I didn't look for open processes or anything and... dash libreoffice launched immediately without problems It also didn't remember recently opened items, but now it got fixed somehow. Other symptoms: - icon on the launcher and all menu categories appear with a delay of few seconds - two writer icons appear on the launcher What I did: used 3.4.5, uninstalled, installed 3.5 RC3, problems started to occur uninstalled RC3 'clean' per http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Installing_LibreOffice_on_Linux#Debian_.2F_Ubuntu_3 installed 3.5 stable which is identical to RC3 still same issues I don't know if it is related but I use Unity test PPA:vanvugt/unity which I needed to solve the stuttering windows bug. Any ideas?

I've also set the current_page_item to be open but default and I don't want this to expand or collaspe. <ul> <li class="current_page_item"><a href="#">Parent Item</a> <ul class="children"> <li class="page_item"><a href="#">Child page</a></li> <li class="page_item"><a href="#">Child page</a></li> <li class="page_item"><a href="#">Child page</a></li> <li class="page_item"><a href="#">Child page</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="page_item"><a href="#">Parent Item</a> <ul class="children"> <li class="page_item"><a href="#">Child page</a></li> <li class="page_item"><a href="#">Child page</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="page_item"><a href="#">Parent Item</a> <ul class="children"> <li class="page_item"><a href="#">Child page</a></li> <li class="page_item"><a href="#">Child page</a></li> </ul> </li> <li class="page_item"><a href="#">Parent Item</a></li> <li class="page_item"><a href="#">Parent Item</a></li> </ul> jQuery('ul.children').hide(); jQuery('li.current_page_item ul.children').show(); jQuery('li.current_page_item').parent().show(); jQuery("li.page_item").hover(function() { jQuery(this).find('ul.children').delay(300).slideDown('slow'); }, function() { jQuery(this).find('ul.children').delay(300).slideUp('slow'); });

  • sendmail relay status

    - by Andy
    Hello all, I have a RHEL3 server with sendmail configured to relay mail to: # "Smart" relay host (may be null) DSmailrelay This relay server is an exchange server not administered by me. A few days ago its IP address was changed without my knowledge so I've updated the correct ip in /etc/hosts for the mail relay entry. Unfortunately no mail is currently going through and maillog reports: Oct 26 14:32:39 fsimag sendmail[12580]: n9Q3VxPA012580: from=root, size=3685, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<~R.*.2009102614315955@*>, relay=root@localhost Oct 26 14:32:39 fsimag sendmail[12580]: n9Q3VxPA012580: to=wodwest@*.net, delay=00:00:40, mailer=esmtp, pri=33685, dsn=4.4.3, stat=queued Oct 26 14:36:09 fsimag sendmail[13670]: n9Q3ZTcf013670: from=root, size=5831, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<~R.medicus.2009102614352914@*>, relay=root@localhost Oct 26 14:36:09 fsimag sendmail[13670]: n9Q3ZTcf013670: to=tsgastro@(.net, delay=00:00:40, mailer=esmtp, pri=35831, dsn=4.4.3, stat=queued Oct 26 14:36:50 fsimag sendmail[13882]: n9Q3aAxj013882: from=root, size=5830, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<~C.medicus.2009102614361009@*>, relay=root@localhost Oct 26 14:36:50 fsimag sendmail[13882]: n9Q3aAxj013882: to=elmwood@*.net, delay=00:00:40, mailer=esmtp, pri=35830, dsn=4.4.3, stat=queued (With domains obscured) The mailq command shows nothing, and I've also tried connecting to this new mail server via telnet and manually sending and reports as being queued but not sent. The administrator of this machine has put it back to me saying he sees no problems, and I just want to cover everything before passing it back to him. Is there any other tests/logs/reasons for sendmail to only report it as "stat=queued" ? I've looked in previous logs and the relay is set to root@localhost in those but none were ever set to queued. Thanks for any help, Andy

  • MySQL taking a long time to start

    - by Dscoduc
    I'm running Windows Server 2008 with MySQL installed and every time I reboot the server the MySQL Service doesn't start right away. A look into the Windows Eventlog shows that the MySQL Service was hung at startup. Looking at the Services.msc console shows the service state at Starting... Eventually, like 10 minutes, the MySQL Service actually finishes the startup process and the database becomes available for my Wordpress server... I looked at the MySQL .err files and didn't find anything that would indicate a delay in the statup process... Can anyone suggest a way to determine what is causing the delay, and more importantly, how to prevent the delay in the MySQL Startup? UPDATE: Here is the .err log contents from the shutdown to the startup complete. Notice the startup begins at 10:30:00 and the MySQL isn't ready for connections until 10:47:14, a full 17 minutes later: 100322 10:27:06 [Note] C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin\mysqld: Normal shutdown 100322 10:27:06 [Note] Event Scheduler: Purging the queue. 0 events 100322 10:27:06 InnoDB: Starting shutdown... 100322 10:27:08 InnoDB: Shutdown completed; log sequence number 4 3854351346 100322 10:27:08 [Warning] Forcing shutdown of 1 plugins 100322 10:27:08 [Note] C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin\mysqld: Shutdown complete 100322 10:30:00 [Note] Plugin 'FEDERATED' is disabled. 100322 10:30:01 InnoDB: Started; log sequence number 4 3854351346 100322 10:47:14 [Note] Event Scheduler: Loaded 0 events 100322 10:47:14 [Note] C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 5.1\bin\mysqld: ready for connections. • why sendmail resolves to ISP domain?

    - by digital illusion
    I wish to setup a local mail server for debugging purposes using fedora 15 I set up sendmail, but there is a problem. When I'm not connected to the internet, the local mail server delivers correctly (to localhost). And in /var/log/mail I see that I correctly delivered a mail to [email protected]: Jun 21 18:24:56 PowersourceII sendmail[6019]: p5LGOttt006019: [email protected], size=328, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<[email protected]>, relay=adriano@localhost Jun 21 18:24:56 PowersourceII sendmail[6020]: p5LGOuSV006020: from=<[email protected]>, size=506, class=0, nrcpts=1, msgid=<[email protected]>, proto=ESMTP, daemon=MTA, relay=PowersourceII.localdomain [127.0.0.1] Jun 21 18:24:56 PowersourceII sendmail[6019]: p5LGOttt006019: [email protected], [email protected] (500/500), delay=00:00:01, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=relay, pri=30328, relay=[127.0.0.1] [127.0.0.1], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (p5LGOuSV006020 Message accepted for delivery) When I connect, networkmanager fills in /etc/resolv.conf with: domain fastwebnet.it search fastwebnet.it localdomain nameserver 62.101.93.101 nameserver 83.103.25.250 Now sendmail does not work any longer and tries to send messages to my ISP domain, as seen in the log: Jun 21 18:40:02 PowersourceII sendmail[6348]: p5LGe1LV006348: [email protected], [email protected] (500/500), delay=00:00:01, xdelay=00:00:01, mailer=relay, pri=30327, relay=[127.0.0.1] [127.0.0.1], dsn=2.0.0, stat=Sent (p5LGe10n006352 Message accepted for delivery) Jun 21 18:40:02 PowersourceII sendmail[6354]: p5LGe10n006352: to=<[email protected]>, delay=00:00:01, xdelay=00:00:00, mailer=esmtp, pri=120651, relay=mx3.fastwebnet.it. [85.18.95.21], dsn=5.1.1, stat=User unknown As you can see, it tries to deliver a mail to [email protected], and fails The setup is working under other ISPs. How can I avoid the fastweb ISP DNS relay? Thank you
