When you are in the process of creating your custom build process template, this can be very frustrating. Thanks to Ed Blankenship how has found a little trick to speed up the opening of the template. It now only takes a few seconds. • New Release of Oracle EPM (Enterprise Performance Management)

  I'm a huge fan of Hyperion products and consider Hyperion to be one of the best acquisitions Oracle has made in terms of applications. So I am really excited to talk about their latest release, Release 11.1.2 of the Oracle EPM System. This is EPM's largest release in 2 years, and it's jam-packed with new modules and features. In terms of brand new products, there are three: 1. Public Sector Planning and Budgeting meets the needs of public sector agencies, higher education, governments, etc. that have complex budget requirements. It supports position or employee-based budgeting and integrates with MS Office and your ERP ledgers to perform commitment control. 2. Hyperion Financial Close Management is a complete financial close solution that orchestrates the entire close process from subledgers and general ledger to financial reporting and disclosure submissions. And of course, it is integrated with GL systems and consolidation systems. I saw a demo of this and it looked pretty slick. They have this unified close calendar that looks like a regular calendar that gives each person participating in the close process a task list. It comes with a Gantt chart that shows the relationships and dependencies among closing tasks. There are dashboards to allow you to track the close progress and completion of tasks as well as perform trend analysis and see how much time is being spent on different activities in the close process. This gives you visibility that you never had before to understand where the bottlenecks are and where improvements could be made. I think what I liked best about this product was that it provides a central place for all participants to communicate their progress. When I worked as an Accountant, we used ad hoc tools, such as spreadsheets, Word documents, emails, and phone calls during the close process. I like the idea of having a central system to track the overall progress as well as automate the entire financial close process. Who knows, maybe Accountants won't have to revolve their lives around the month end close anymore with a tool like this. Those periodic fire drills can become predictable, well managed processes. 3. Disclosure Management is an out-of-the-box, pre-packaged XBRL solution to meet statutory reporting requirements. This product is really going to help companies improve the timeliness of producing financial reports. Reports can be authored using MS Word and Excel and then XBRL instance documents can be produced with its embedded XBRL tags. It even supports footnotes and disclosures of non-financial information. With a product like this, companies no longer have to outsource their XBRL filing; they can bring it back in house to save costs and time. In terms of other enhancements, they have ERP Integrator that provides integration and drill downs from Hyperion products to source systems, such as Oracle E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, and SAP. No other vendor offers this level of integration. There's also a new product that links Oracle Essbase directly to Hyperion Financial Management for internal financial reporting, and new integrations between Hyperion Financial Management and Oracle's GRC products. They also improved the usability of Oracle Hyperion Planning. They made it much easier for end users to use the system via the web or via MS Excel when submitting plans and budgets. It is also integrated with intelligent approval workflows that are data-driven, user-configurable, and scenario-specific to efficiently streamline the budgeting process. • Hyper-V VMs hanging 10 minutes after startup

  Hyper-V running under a fresh install of 2008 R2 DC 2 VMs both running 2008 R2 STD One VM has SQL 2008 Server w/ SP2 and Office 2007 Enterprise w/ SP2 Othe VMS only Office 2007 w/ SP2. Approximately 10 minutes after reboot the Hyuper-V host the VMs will hang Hang = answers pings, but no RDP connections and Hyper-V console session is non responsive Disabled Hyper-V and had no proble with 2008 R2 DC host. Started the three Hyper-V services and 10 minutes later was hung again. Hardware is HP DL380 G4 2 socket, 48 GB, Internal SAS controller 1.5TB C drive VMs .VHDs are on external SAS controller on a 1.5 TB RAID5 volume. Nothing in event log on either VMs or Hyper-V host. • Windows-Server-2003 setup on Dell-PowerEdge R310 is hanging [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Problems installing OS on Dell PowerEdge R410 I am trying to configure a Dell PowerEdge R310 server with Windows Server 2003. I've already configured the two hard drives as RAID1. The HD controller is PERC H700 Integrated and Adapter. Trying to stay with Windows Server 2003 on this fairly new server to save on cost and keep the configuration the same as my old server, which has been running like a champ for five years. Problem: During the OS installation, after everything has been copied from the installation CD, the installation hangs at a window labeled 'Windows Setup' with the message 'Setup is starting Windows' at the bottom. I'm wondering if this is a driver problem and if so, where can I get the drivers for the R310 or where can I get the media for the latest version of Windows Server 2003 which may include the necessary drivers? Will certainly appreciate some help here.

  Is there an easy way to get metrics on all processes that start with the letters XYZ? I have about 80 processes that I have to monitor individually that all start with the prefix XYZ. I have created a query using the sigar shell: ps State.Name.sw=XYZ, which will give me a list of the processes that I want. What I need to do is define this list of processes through said query and collect and track statistics from the Process service: http://support.hyperic.com/display/hypcomm/Process+service What I need is 3 or 4 key statistics for each of the XYZ processes defined by my query to show up as graphs in the web front end. Note: Hyperic HQ server is installed on a windows machine and I'm monitoring a Linux box via an agent.   am attempting to setup a test bed with 2 server using IOmeter.exe I have IoMeter & Dynamo running on My Manger server @ 10.0.0.3 i have another machine running only Dynamo @ 10.0.0.4 so. on 10.0.0.4 i run "Dyanmo.exe /i 10.0.0.4 /m 10.0.0.3" at this point the Iometer.exe on 10.0.0.3 Hangs and stops responding. Any Thoughts?

• PC won't boot after hanging during Windows 8 automatic repair [closed]

  I've got a custom built PC using an ASUS P5E motherboard and Intel Q6600 CPU. I plugged in my mp3 player to the USB port yesteday, and when I came back to the machine after about an hour or so, the Windows 8 automatic repair message was on the screen. It seemed to stick there for an hour, after which I decided to just hit reset and try and figure out what was going on. However, the machine rebooted to a black screen before even getting to the BIOS, with the monitor lights just blinking indicating there was no signal. Tried powering down completely, waiting a few minutes and then powering back up again with no difference; black screen with monitor lights blinking. Tried leaving it on for a while and then pinging from another machine or accessing it via something like LogMeIn, but everything showed the machine as being offline. There were also no error beeps or anything like that. Also tried unplugging all of the memory and rebooting and that also caused no error beeps. Removed one of the display cards and left the other one in there, and still only a black screen. I'm inclined to think that the motherboard or CPU is fried, but there is no indication of damage on any components and the CPU fan seems to be working fine as it always has, so overheating seems unlikely. It's also plugged into a surge protector. The motherboard also has a green light which still lights up. As everything was still working fine before hitting the reset button during Windows 8 automatic repair screen, at which point everything stopped working, it seems unlikely that this problem is down to component failure. Has anyone else experienced anything like this or have any ideas on what could be causing this behavior?

• Hanging of host network connections when starting KVM guest on bridge

  Hi, I've a KVM system upon which I'm running a network bridge directly between all VM's and a bond0 (eth0, eth1) on the host OS. As such, all machines are presented on the same subnet, available outside of the box. The bond is doing mode 1 active / passive, with an arp_ip_target set to the default gateway, which has caused some issues in itself, but I can't see the bond configs mattering here myself. I'm seeing odd things most times when I stop and start a guest on the platform, in that on the host I lose network connectivity (icmp, ssh) for about 30 seconds. I don't lose connectivity on the other already running VM's though... they can always ping the default GW, but the host can't. I say "about 30 seconds" but from some tests it actually seems to be 28 seconds usually (or at least, I lose 28 pings...) and I'm wondering if this somehow relates to the bridge config. I'm not running STP on the bridge at all, and the forwarding delay is set to 1 second, path cost on the bond0 lowered to 10 and port priority of bond0 also lowered to 1. As such I don't think that the bridge should ever be able to think that bond0 is not connected just fine (as continued guest connectivity implies) yet the IP of the host, which is on the bridge device (... could that matter?? ) becomes unreachable. I'm fairly sure it's about the bridged networking, but at the same time as this happens when a VM is started there are clearly loads of other things also happening so maybe I'm way off the mark. I'd run some hundreds of java threads at the same time and apparently that was too much for the host. How can I get back in?

• Win Server 2008 Hanging on "Applying Computer Settings"

  Applied ~8 updates this morning, and on reboot the server just sits on "Applying Computer Settings". I've let it sit for a max of almost 40m with no response. I hard-booted (/duck) and can get into safe-mode. From there it applies it's updates and is ok. But still on normal boot gets stuck in "applying". I've tried uninstalling the updates from safe-mode with the same reaction. Any insights?

• Nginx and Gunicorn hanging on GET requests

  I'm using Nginx + Gunicorn which is serving my Django project. All GET requests hang for ~1 min. The content seems to be available immediately as I can see it in the Browser inspector but the browser itself looks like it's still waiting for more data. • IE9 HANGS: jquery based webapp hanging ONLY with IE9

  I'm stuck on this issue since days... This is the site I'm talking about. It is a webapp which makes large use of backbone, visualsearch, jquery plugins. This website is not working at the moment with IE8, but it's fine that it works with IE9...if just it would! What happens is that the website hangs when loaded ONLY with IE9 and (this is bizarre!) if the profiler tool of IE9 developer tools is ON it doesn't!! It also happens to oher people (I was notified of that) so I'm pretty sure it's not an issue linked to my browser settings. It makes me think about an error which has something to do with delays, or iterative functions which, in presence of profiler, are forced to delay bte cycles and so to leave free time slots to other functions which render the page. I can update with more details if needed. thanks.

• Linux bonded Interfaces hanging periodically

  I've several hosts that are showing problems with connectivity. When working from the command line, for example, typing is frozen for a second or so, then recovers - then it does it again. The most egregious example host would freeze (input) for 15-30 seconds, then recover and go out 5 seconds later. Switching cables didn't do anything - but removing one of the physical cables caused everything to clear up instantly (which why I think this is a network problem). Looking at the network I couldn't see any packets floating that would explain this. These ethernet interfaces (Gigabit Dell) were working normally previously, but since we moved the systems - and put them on a new set of switches - this has been a problem on multiple theoretically identically-configured hosts. The original switches were an HP Procurve 1810-24G and an HP Procurve 1800-24G connected with LLDP; the new switches are both Cisco SG 200-26, which I understand are rebranded Linksys switches. Is this caused by a problem with the switches? Is it the switch configurations? Are the Cisco switches incapable of handling this? I don't see where the configuration is located; I searched the usual /etc/sysconfig/network/devices but there's nothing in there about options (like mii polling) and nothing about the method of balancing the two. Searching scripts, I can't find anything in /etc/init.d/network either. The hosts are almost all Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.x systems (5.6, 5.7) but some are Ubuntu Server 10.04.3 Lucid Lynx. I need help with both if it comes to that. UPDATE: We're also seeing some problems with servers on the original switches. The HP switches and the Cisco switches are also interconnected (temporarily); there is a cable run from one switch to the next. Pings on any of these hosts show about one ICMP packet out of every 5-6 getting dropped (timed out). Could there be an interaction between the two switches? Oh, and the hosts are using bonding with Balance-RR as the method.

• Root cause for high CPU usage; which measurement to trust more: Windows Task Manager or Process Explorer?

  Consider this Windows 8.1 machine (in-place upgrade from Windows 8) with differing reports on its CPU usage. The machine is idle, and has been for 3 days. There are no CPU intensive tasks running currently nor over the 3 day idle period. Windows Task Manager is reporting CPU usage constantly at an incredibly high value (and increasing over time!) at around 75%. Process Explorer from SysInternals reports that the CPU usage is much different at around 42% How does Process Explorer report 42.14% usage, but its columns report Idle at 57%, with the sum of the other processes not even approaching 10%? Which of these two values should I trust more, and why should it be trusted over the other measurement? How can I actually determine which process is causing Task Manager to report its values? • Windows 8 Install Hanging at first white-font boot splash

  I'm trying to install the Windows 8 preview on my Samsung Series 9 (2012, Ivy Bridge). I've done a bit of a custom scheme with this one: I'm using EFI/UEFI on this system. I've seen no indication that this system supports secure boot (yay!) My SSD is set up with GPT Ubuntu is already installed and working great via UEFI. I'm trying to boot the Windows 8 install from a USB stick via UEFI I don't have access to a CD drive. The problem is that the boot seems to hang at the very first splash screen that looks like this. White windows font, the little beads don't show up. My USB stick has an activity light and it does blink for the first few seconds, but then goes back to it's "nobody is talking to me" idle pulse. What I know: UEFI booting is definitely working. Windows 8 for those few seconds seems to have some kind of access to the USB drive. My Series 9 is running the latest BIOS/firmware. Any idea what I might be able to do to get Windows 8 installed??

• Java: compile and run hanging at command prompt

  I'm having an issue that I'm hoping someone can help with. I'm working on netbook running WinXP Pro SP3, 1.6GHz & 1GB of RAM. I've got a relatively simple java program that I'm able to successfully compile and run on other computers (both XP and Win7), so I suspect my code is working fine--I've verified that all computers are running the same version of Java (build 1.7.0_02-b13). For about the past week, I get maybe three or four compiles and runs at the command prompt (running CMD from within WinXp) before I hang with a blinking cursor after keying my command and pressing enter. If I shut down the command prompt window and restart it, I can compile and run the program just fine--again, pointing to an OS/environment issue rather than code. The only system change I've made in the past week is to uninstall a Lexmark printer that I ditched a year ago, and removing/reinstalling Java. Oh, and an automatic Windows update... :\ I've used this netbook successfully for programming classes for the past year and a half. Anyone familiar with this issue and know of some system tweaks to solve it? I suspect that memory may not be getting cleaned up when the java program quits...only when CMD closes, but don't know any tools to troubleshoot. Ideas?

• Win Server 2008 R2 - Mapped shared folder hanging?

  I have recently built a windows 2008 server R2 machine. This is purely for file server purposes and is very much a basic build. All windows updates installed and part of domain. I have setup a shared folder on the C:Drive and added permissions for domain users as co-owners. The client machines run XP SP3 and are part of the domain also. We have a few servers running the same setups on a few of our sites but this one is particular crashes users machines (explorer.exe hangs for at least a few mins) when attempting to access the shared folder. I have turned off the option on the network card for power save aswell still no change. Any help with this is very much appreciated and i look forward to hearing from you ;)

• Bootcamp: setup of Windows 7 (64 bit) hanging at "disk.sys"

  I am having trouble getting Windows 7 Professional (64bit) to install on a Macbook Pro (late 2010 model). The installer hangs when loading the setup from disk. When restarting, I get an option to boot Windows from disk. The installer then starts loading files from disk and suddenly hangs. Using "Safe Mode" (from the advanced menu), it tells me that the installer hangs when loading "disk.sys". The installation is made on a fresh Bootcamp partition, the disk uses GPT. Has anyone seen this before and maybe found a solution?
