  • Android Icon Duplicates in Application Dock

    For some odd reason, my project is generating two icons, same name, launches the same project, in the app drawer. I can't figure out what is causing this. Does anyone have any suggestions? Link to screenshot The M in the white circle is my default icon. If you view the screenshot, you'll see it appears twice. I've checked the applications area, and it is only installed once.

  • How can I use fetchmail (or another email grabber) with OSX keychain for authentication?

    Every fetchmail tutorial I've read says putting your email account password clear-text in a config file is safe. However, I prefer security through layers (since, if my terminal is up and someone suspecting such email foolery slides over and simply types "grep -i pass ~/.*" then, oops, all my base are belong to them!). Now, with msmtp (as opposed to sendmail) I can authenticate using the OSX keychain. Is there an email 'grabber' that lets me use Keychains (specifically the OSX keychain) or at least, that lets me MD5 the password? This is a duplicate of my unanswered question on serverfault. I've put it on superuser because I'm doing this on a personal computer (viz. with OSX) so it's more of a superuser question.

  • Xcode puts Default.png in my plist as an Icon file when I assign a Launch Image

    When I set a Launch Image, Xcode creates a copy as Default.png and creates an entry in my plist in Icon Files (IOS 5) / Primary Icon / Icon Items -- Item 1 : Default.png Item 0 : MyIcon.png is the app icon which I have already placed through the Target. The reason this is a problem is that the launch image then takes precedence over the actual icon and as a result, it shows as the primary icon instead of my actual icon image. Why is Xcode doing this? Can I safely delete the Default.png entry from my .plist? (this seems to fix the problem) Do I need to copy Default.png somewhere else? Thanks!

  • How to change circular icon to indicate chosen session in unity-greeter?

    In Precise (12.04), when I login to lightdm, using the unity-greeter, there's a white circle by my name. For the standard DEs like Unity or XFCE, the circle has a representative icon (Ubuntu symbol or little mouse resp.). I have a session for Awesome window manager which was added when I installed Awesome, but it just shows a blank white circle. I'd like to know how to add an icon to it, or at least some indicator, as unity-greeter doesn't show you what session is set until you click on the circle. I found another question about changing the session names. The answer for it said to change the names in the desktop files in /usr/share/xsessions. Unfortunately, while there is an icon field in those desktop files, they are all blank (Caveat: I no longer have Unity installed, so maybe the Unity one would not be blank. But the Xubuntu desktop file has it blank even though the icon shows in unity-greeter). Update: Here's the png I use as a badge for Awesome. It's not great, but looks reasonably nice: []

    In my tablayout example, i have created 3 tabs, as usually i set 3 activities for each tab. I can set image to title bar of activity, which adds the intent to each tab.     Environment: Ubuntu 11.10 I have a Java application as a jar file. I have created a batch file that contains the following line: java -jar ~/MyApp.jar When I execute this batch file, the Java application works as expected. To create a desktop link, I copied this batch file into my "Desktop" folder. This results in an icon appearing on the desktop. However, the icon shows "Java" on it. I would like to associate a different icon to this desktop link. Would appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction.

    When I recieve new mails in Thunderbird a popup-message tells me about that. Does anyone know where this icon is stored and how it is named? I want to change it that it fits the Faenza-theme. I use Thunderbird 10.0.2 with following addons (all preinstalled): EDS Contact Integration 0.3.9 Global Menu Bar integration 2.0.2 Messaging Menu and Unity Launcher integration 0.8.3 Update: The Addons don't have any influence on the icon - I checked this by disabling them. I downloaded the source code and scanned it for the icon. I found it as comm-release/mail/themes/gnomestripe/mail/icons/new-mail-alert.png: Since I couldn't find this file (I searched for the name) on my PC I guess it is somehow built into Thunderbird and protected against changes. Or should there be an easy solution (not to built your own deb-file)? (In the same manner I'd like to change downloadIcon.png in Firefox: )

  • Second click on a launcher icon with more than one window open doesn't do a scale of that application

    In unity, if I click an icon in the launcher with multiple windows open it doesn't show me all open windows for that application. However, this works in unity2d. I known there have a same question asked before: here! But I think my condition is not as same as the previous question. ubuntu 12.04 64-bit unity 5.16.0 kernel linux 3.2.0-33-generic gnome 3.4.2 Edit I just find a interest thing: There are four workspace, label it as A, B, C, D. If I firstly open two windows of firefox in A, as I mentioned above, second click on the firefox icon does nothing. But after I open a window of firefox in B, the second click on the firefox icon in workspace A magically works!! And then, I open two terminal in workspace C, second click doesnot work until I open another terminal window in D. So, it seems that the second click only work if the application be opened more than one workspace.

  • How do I remove the Skype icon from the system panel?

    I have been trying for some time to remove the Skype icon in the upper panel in Ubuntu 11.10, but to no avail. I have went into dconf, went to desktop - unity - panel, and I looked to delete 'Skype' from the whitelist. But Skype isn't in the whitelist! And it's showing up on the panel! Something smells fishy here, and I was wondering if anyone had an answer as to a) how I can actually remove the Skype icon from the gnome panel and b) why an icon still show up there if it isn't in the whitelist? Also, if it's relevant, I use Unity. EDIT: So, the only solution for this issue is the scorched earth strategy of removing sni-qt?

I have auxiliary information in the table that I would like to display if the user chooses to see it (i.e. the x,y of the icon and some other options from database). I am debating on would it be better to go through and just redraw all the icons with this information added, or do some sort of looping through the icons and setting some value to true to display the information.   • Can you do icon overlays using Java on Windows OS

    I would like to manupilate badges or icon overlays using Java on windows. Basically some files on the drive to have overlays depending what state those files are in. This should be visible through windows explorer. Something simillar to how DropBox does things. Is that possible? I've seen several articles on this topic but none of them use Java. They all seem to use C++ or C# or COM objects. I was looking for a Java solution for windows. Of course I'd like to have a Java solution on Mac's too. Not sure if this is possible but before I give up I thought I ask.

    I'm using NSIS package generator in CMake 2.8.1 to distribute a Qt application. Everything is working fine... except the use of CPACK_CREATE_DESKTOP_LINKS to create a desktop link to the application. I've looked through the CMake source (including it's own "bootstrap" installation definition for windows), and as far as I can tell I'm doing the same thing.   • WPF Application that only has a tray icon

    I am a total WPF newbie and wonder if anyone could give me some pointers how to write an application that starts minimized to tray. The idea is that it periodically fetches an RSS Feed and creates a Toaster-Popup when there are new feeds. The Application should still have a Main Window (essentially just a list containing all feed entries), but that should be hidden by default. I have started reading about XAML and WPF and I know that the StartupUri in the App.xaml has to point to my main window, but I have no idea what the proper way is to do the SysTray icon and hide the main window (this also means that when the user minimizes the window, it should minimize to tray, not to taskbar). Any hints?

    On the iPhone, if you touch and hold your finger on an icon, it starts vibrating, then you can drag them around while the other icons move aside and rearrange dynamically. I'm trying to figure out how to do this inside an application with a grid of images or buttons. I don't need them to vibrate, but I do want the UI to allow the user to drag them with real-time dynamic reordering and then return the new position (ie, an int for accessing a mutable array). Any ideas how to do this? Any sample code out there? Thanks!

Does anyone know how to replicate the built-in functionality of WordPress whereby the admin is informed of when updates for plugins are available - i.e. when one (more more) is available, an icon appears over the plugins menu which contains the number of available updates. The plugin that I am writing could really benefit, from a UI perspective, with having a feature very similar to this.
