  Is there a clean way of cloning a record in SQL that has an index(auto increment). I want to clone all the fields except the index. I currently have to enumerate every field, and use that in an insert select, and I would rather not explicitly list all of the fields, as they may change over time.

New rows are added daily so I would like it first delete any records that are greater than the 20 allowed starting with the earliest.   Is there a single query (subqueries in it are allowed) where I can copy the content of one field into another field, per row. Example: price, and priceBackup Records: 45.55 47.77 45.55 copies into priceBackup for that specific row, 47.77 copies into priceBackup for that specific row. I do have a primary key, auto increment on it under 'id'. Thanks guys!

However the way my application works at the moment is the take the from and to ip addresses as a String. Is there a way I can increment through all the ip addresses the user input from and to?   I am able to stream a video from a URL, but I can't quite figure out how to generate thumbnail images of this streaming video at a certain time increment and allow the viewer to skip ahead by touching the thumbnails.   I'm recently change my data table, I remove column and add a new column that define as identity = True and identity seed = 1, identity increment = 1. When i tried to insert data to this table by STORE PROCEDURE i get this exception: An explicit value for the identity column in table 'AirConditioner' can only be specified when a column list is used and IDENTITY_INSERT is ON. I saw that i need to add this lines: SET IDENTITY_INSERT [dbo].[AirConditioner] ON and finally OFF I added and its still throw an exception... My store procedure is attached as a picture

  I'm trying to connect to a mobile host connected over a 3G cell router from linux with ssh [email protected] -p 2200 and all I immediately get is (doesn't even seem to run into a timeout) ssh: connect to host 74.198.25.220 port 2200: Network is unreachable However, when I try the same IP on port 2200 with putty on Windows, it presents my with the password prompt just fine as I'd expect. What's going on here, do I need to increment my ssh timeout period to get this going or what? Thank you, Ron

Pretty simple, but I have an exception. If the remainder of the float is anything other than .0 then I want to increment the int. I have been using "int" data type and doing increment by one on inserts. Is there any particular benefits to using the uniqueIdentifier data type compared to my current model of using int and auto increments on new inserts ?

  Do you ever use a separate table for "generating" artificial primary keys for DB (and why)? What I mean is to have a table with two columns, table name and current ID - with which you could get new "ID" for some table by simply locking the row with that table name, getting the current value of the key, increment it by one, and unlock the row.
