  • Installing assemblies to GAC with Windows Installer

    I am creating a Windwos Installer project just for the use of installing our third party assemblies into the gac of the users computer. The problem i am running into, is when i make an update to the assemblie and increment it's version number, i get an error saying: "Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue..." I would have figured that windows installer would update the local machine with the new assemblie. Am i doing something wrong?

    I need to increment User's balance, so I do: Doctrine_Query::create()->from('User')->update('balance', 'balance + 0.15')->execute(); And I got an error "Unknown component alias 0". I think its because of 0.15 So how can I update (using DQL) balance without additional SELECT queries to User's table to fetch his balance, calculate new balance and do query like Doctrine_Query::create()->from('User')->update('balance', '?', $new_balance)->execute();

    Are there any repercussions using Negative Primary Keys for tables (Identity Increment -1, Identity Seed -1 in SQL Server 2005)? The reason for this is we're creating a new database to replace an existing one. There are similar tables between the two databases and we'd like the "source" of the information to be transparent to our applications. The approach is to create views that unions tables from both databases. Negative PKs ensures the identities don't overlap.

    my primay key is user_id which is auto incremant UNSIGNED ZERO FILL, i want to display user_id on a page without leading Zero( means 1 instead of 0000000001 ).. how can we do that in php or in mysql one more question... if i delete last record( let user_id=21) wwhich have highest id of that table then can we adjust auto increment value to 21 instead of 22 of that table.

I want to be able to use the buildnumber task (Ant) which in my understanding when used, is supposed to change the value of build number property and increment it for next time. But it seems that I still get the build number from TeamCity. How can I use the build number from <buildnumber file="mybuild.number"/>?

This is how I want to do this: Lock the file Read the current count Increment it Write new count Unlock file/close it Can this be done? As I understand it, the file can't be written to without losing the lock. The only way I have come up with to tackle this, is to write a character using "r+" mode, and then counting characters.

    I've used %time% for timing previously - at least I think I have. I have this weird IF NOT "%1" == "" ( echo Testing: %1 echo Start: %time% sqlcmd -S MYSERVER -i test_import_%1.sql -o "test_%1%.log" sleep 3 echo End: %time% ) I run this, and it prints: Testing: pm Start: 13:29:45.30 End: 13:29:45.30 In this case, my sql code is failing (different reason), but I figure the sleep 3 should make the time increment by 3 at least. On client side, i start many threads to call a WCF service function which returns a long list of data object. On server side, in that function called by my client, i need to know the number of clients calling the function. For doing that, i set a counter variable. In the beginning of the function, i add the counter by 1, but how can i decrease it after the funtion has returned the result? int clientCount=0; public DataObject[] GetData() { Interlocked.Increment(ref clientCount); List<DataObject> result = MockDb.GetData(); return result.ToArray(); Interlocked.Decrement(ref clientCount); //can't run to here... } i have seen a way in c++. Create a new class named counter. In the constructor of the counter class, increase the variable. And decrease it in the destructor. In the function, make a counter object so that its constructor will be called. And after the function returns, its destructor will be called.     I was thinking of formatting it like this TYYYYMMDDNNNNNNNNNNX (1 character + 19 digits) Where T is type YYYY is year MM is month DD is day N is sequencial number X is check digit The problem is, how do I generate the sequencial number? since my primary key is not an auto increment integer value, if it was i would use that, but its not. EDIT can I have the sequencial number resets itself after 1 day (24hours).
