  • iPhone SDK Programming - Working with a variable across 2 views

    I have what I hope is a fairly simple question about using the value from a variable across 2 views. I’m new to the iPhone SDK platform and the Model/View/Controller methodology. I’ve got background in VB.Net, some Php, but mostly SQL, so this is new ground for me. I’m building an app that has 3 views. For simplicity’s sake, I’ll call them View1, View2, View3. On View1 I have an NSString variable that I’ve declared in View1.h, and synthesized in View1.m. I’ll call it String1. View1.m uses a UITextField to ask the user for their name and then sets the value of String1 to that name (i.e. "Bill"). I would now like to use the value of String1 in View2. I'm not doing anything other than displaying the value ("Bill"), in a UILabel object in View2. Can someone tell me what the easiest way to accomplish that is? Many thanks in advance….

  • Structuring iPhone/iPad application views

    I have an idea about an application that I want to build and Im new to iPhone/iPad development (but not new to development in other languages/frameworks such as .NET and Java). I want to layout some views on the screen so that they animate (slide in) from different directions into their places. The question is about the strucuture of the application, if I have say 4 rectanglular areas on the screen that contain business data, such as contacts (name, photo, etc...) and they all take up different widths of the screen (say the first contact takes up one row of the screen, but the next 2 take up half the width of the next row each, and so on). Should I create a custom view for the different sized contact views, (i.e. LargeCustomView and SmallCustomView, and any other special type that I make) or should it all be one type, say, CustomerDetailsView which could be stretched to fit at design time? Also, if there were, say, 3 different instances of the same custom view on the one screen, are there 3 instances of the view controller also? Im a little confused about powering the data behind a view, can someone shed some light on this for me? Do I just set the properties (say an instance variable ContactForView) on the view controller for each instance? Thanks for any help you can give Cheers, Mark

    Hi, I'm using Views module and an exposed taxonomy based filter, to allow users to select a subselection of articles. I need to further customize my filter: 1) I want the user able to order the tags alphabetically by clicking a checkbox (if this checkbox is unchecked the default order is reset. 2) I want all tags selected in the beginning to show my user all the articles. (Additional tags can be added by the user later, so I cannot just select all the tags in Views settings, because the new ones would be uncovered). thanks

Let's say I have a module in Application/Modules/default and I have "IndexController.php" inside "default/controllers" within "IndexController", I would like to render a view that is located in "Application/Views". I tried to use addScriptPath, but Zend_View tries to look "Application/Views/index" directory. How do I eliminate "index" ?

    hi, DRUPAL question. I'm using Views, with an exposed filter (Taxonomy). I've downloaded the "better exposed filter" module to display it as checkbox list. a Now, how can I order the tags in the filter list ? "Views Sort" is not the solution because I only can order articles but not the filter items!! I want to add an option (checkbox) for the customer to order the tags alphabetically or leave them in the default order. thanks

    Using 'taxonomy: term ID' as an argument in one of my Drupal views and I'm having trouble getting it to work correctly. On the views administration page it states, "if using term name, it is generally more efficient to convert it to a term ID and use Taxonomy: Term ID rather than Taxonomy: Term Name." How does one go about converting the term name from a URL into a term ID?

    When using the date and views module, you can specify in views (using row style fields) 'group multiple values'. Which is default on. If you turn it off, you get multiple nodes each with a date. For example: - 24th March ------- node1 - 25th March ------- node1 What I'm trying to figure out is: what if you are not using fields but node as Row style. How do you implement this not-group-multiple-values in your type-node.tpl.php?

    I'd like to create a gallery of photos that swipe left and right. At first I took a look at Gallery, but it's marked as deprecated. http://developer.android.com/reference/android/widget/Gallery.html We're told to try ViewPager instead. But the PagerAdapter class doesn't handle recycling of views for us (like a standard ListView), does it? http://developer.android.com/reference/android/support/v4/view/PagerAdapter.html Is it up to us to build the recycling mechanism? I scan the plugin dlls for controller using StructureMap and I then can pull them out and instantiate them when requested. This works fine. The view is found and is pulled out into a stream. I then receive a parse error Could not load type 'System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<dynamic>'. which I can't find mentioned in any previous example of pluggable views. Why would my view not compile at this stage? Thanks for any help, Ian EDIT: Getting closer to an answer but not quite clear why things aren't compiling. Based on the comments I checked the versions and everything is in V2, I believe dynamic was brought in at V2 so this is fine. I don't even have V3 installed so it can't be that. I have however got the view to render, if I remove the <dynamic> altogether. So a VPP works but only if the view is not strongly typed or dynamic This makes sense for the strongly typed scenario as the type is in the dynamically loaded dll so the viewengine will not be aware of it, even though the dll is in the bin. Is there a way to load types at app start? Considering having a go with MEF instead of my bespoke Structuremap solution. What do you think?

  • What is the best way to bind PhoneGap events (like backbutton) to views in ember.js

    I'm playing with PhoneGap and emberjs (trying to build "proof of concept" mobile/HTML5 application based on ember.js). Ember.js itself works fine, but I haven't found any good way to "bind" PhoneGap events to views. For instance, I would like to handle backbutton event and remove a view on it. It would be nice to define behavior in view class and call document.addEventListener when instance of the view is appended and call document.removeEventListener when view instance removed.

And by "when" I mean at what point of code, in what "pass" of the "traversal" of the UI toolkit ? Which method of xLayout or ViewGroup should I override ?     I am using UIWebView as a web browser on my application and when I open an url with my browser and return back to the main view, then go to browser view, my webview doesn't save the content. So, if I go to google.com and switch views, then again go to the browser view, I have to type the url again to open the webpage! How can I save the web browser's content?

  • How to get right values from Views touch event

    I have a problem with implementing touch events on GLSurfaceView. Views size is 1280x696, because of android (tablet) status bar at bottom with soft keys, time etc.., (screen resolution is 1280x800), but OnTouchListener is receiving touch events with coords [646.0,739.0], and thus my gluunproject method fails to return correct values is there any way to return events that respect these boundaries? or how should I recalculate the position?
