• Windows Live Messenger stops space bar working

  On Windows Vista, the included Windows Live Messenger frequently stops the space bar working after a long period (or is it after I put the computer into standby). It is frustrating to have to exit Windows Live Messenger and re-start just so I can type spaces in conversations. Anybody else have this problem?

• jquery creating stacked bar chart with flot?

  I'm using jquery flot and I'm trying to create a stacked bar chart, but I'm having some syntax issues... I'll post my code at the end of this, but I'm quite certain it's wrong. I do get a stacked bar chart, but there's only three columns... Basically, here is the data that I'm working with and what I want to accomplish... The first group (Focus Group 1) on each line is the bottom bar of the stacked bar, the second group (Focus Group 2) is the second, and the third group (Focus Group 3) is the top group. The "Responses" are what I want to use on the x-axis, the first number in each set is x, and the second number is y. Response1, [0, 0], [0,0], [0,9] Response2, [1, 5], [1,5], [1,11] Response3, [2, 2], [2,0], [2,8] Response4, [3, 1], [3,2], [3,6] Response5, [4, 0], [4,0], [4,7] I should also mention, that I'm not sure if a stacked chart is the best way to go... Admittedly, I'm not a very visual person, and generally find charts annoying... If there's a better way to present this data, then I am so totally open to suggestions... Essentially... I have a series of questions. Each of these questions were presented to three focus groups. Members of the focus groups selected a response. I'm trying to present the count per response, per focus group, for each question. I thought that a stacked chart would be the best way to go, but again, I'm open to other ways of doing this. The only thing is, I definitely need a visual representation of the data....

  I have an action defined like so: public ActionResult Foo(int[] bar) { ... } Url's like this will work as expected: .../Controller/Foo?bar=1&bar=3&bar=5 I have another action that does some work and then redirects to the Foo action above for some computed values of bar. Is there a simple way of specifying the route values with RedirectToAction or ActionLink so that the url's get generated like the above example? • Committing file deletions to svn repository whilst ignoring some other local mods

  I have svn repository where I have scheduled some files and folders to be moved in the repository with svn mv. I also have some files that are peers of the files to be moved that have local modifications of which I only want a subset of those files to be committed along with the moves. e.g. the output of svn st would look like: D foo/bar D foo/bar/a.txt D foo/bar/b.txt M foo/exclude.txt M foo/include.txt A foo/whiz/bar A + foo/whiz/bar/c.txt A + foo/whiz/bar/d.txt To commit to the moves to the repository, I would need to perform the commit on foo but that would also commit the modifications to foo/exclude.txt and foo/include.txt. How would I commit only the deletions/additions as a result of the move plus the mods to foo/include.txt whilst excluding foo/exclude.txt? I have a feeling the answer lies with the --depth argument to svn ci but it's not clear to me how it will operate.

  Hi, I have a Groovy class similar to class MyClass { Foo foo } Under certain circumstances I don't want to initialize foo and want to stub out all the calls to it. Any methods that return a value should do nothing. I could do it like this: Foo.metaClass.method1 = {param -> } Foo.metaClass.method2 = { -> } Foo.metaClass.method3 = {param1, param2 -> } While this will work, it has a couple of problems Tedious and long-winded, particularly if Foo has a lot of methods This will stub out calls to any instance of Foo (not just foo) Although Groovy provides a StubFor class, if I do this: this.foo = new groovy.mock.interceptor.StubFor(Foo) I get a ClassCastException at runtime. Although this would work if I could redefine foo as: def foo But for reasons I won't go into here, I can't do that. Thanks, Don

  Is there a way in PHP5 to only allow a certain class or set of classes to call a particular function? For example, let's say I have three classes ("Foo", "Bar", and "Baz"), all with similarly-named methods, and I want Bar to be able to call Foo::foo() but deny Baz the ability to make that call: class Foo { static function foo() { print "foo"; } } class Bar { static function bar() { Foo::foo(); print "bar"; } // Should work } class Baz { static function baz() { Foo::foo; print "baz"; } // Should fail } Foo::foo(); // Should also fail There's not necessarily inheritance between Foo, Bar, and Baz, so the use of protected or similar modifiers won't help; however, the methods aren't necessarily static (I made them so here for the simplicity of the example).

• Making a visual bar timer for iPhone

  I've looked up all results for progress bars and changing the width of an image but it only refers to scaling, and the progress bars aren't customizable so that they fit other functions or design schemes... unless I missed that part. I'm trying to make a bar timer that crops off of the right over a period of time. I tried using an NStimer so that it would subtract from a value each time its function is called. the Timerbar function gets called as a result of another timer invalidating and it works. What doesn't work is that the width isn't changing just the position. further more I keep getting values like Inf and 0 for power and pwrBarWidth I was sure that the changes would occur when Mult was plugged into the equation. it seems like casting mult as an int is causing problems but i'm not sure exactly how. int pwrBarMaxWidth = 137; int pwrBarWidth 0; int limit = 1; float mult; float power = 0; -(void) Timerbar:(NSTimer *)barTimer { if(!waitForPlayer) { [barTimer invalidate]; } if(mult > 0.0) { mult -= 0.001 * [colorChoices count]; if(mult < 0.0) { mult = 0.0; } } power = (mult * 10) / pwrBarMaxWidth; pwrBarWidth = (int)power % limit; // causes the bar to repeat after it reaches a certain point //At this point however the variable Power is always "inf" and PwrBarWidth is always 0.   I was playing with progress bar customization in Silverlight application. What I want to reach is to have progress bar label to show current its state in the following format: "Value / Maximum". So, user will see what is the current value, and what is the maximum possible value. It does work properly, if it is written like above. However, I also need to provide ConverterParameter for Convertor, but not sure how to make it. When I write like this: , ConvertParameter={Binding Maximum}, it shows error on start, that Text attribute is not found in TextBlock. I was also trying to set DataContext as {RelativeSource Self}, but then it didn't displays error that DataContext attribute is not found. How to make the described progress bar label properly?

• Diff 2 files while ignoring parts of lines

  I would like to diff a file system. Currently my bash script prints out the file system recursively into a file (ls -l -R) and diffs it with an expected output. An example for a line in this file would be: drw---- 100000f3 00000400 0 ./foo/ My current diff command is diff "$TEMP_LOG" "$DIFF_FILE_OUT" --strip-trailing-cr --changed-group-format='%' --unchanged-group-format='' "$SubLog" As you can see I ignore additional lines in the current output file, I only care about lines that match with the master output. I now have the problem though that some files may differ in size, or a folder might even have a different name, but due to it's location I know what access rights it should have. For example: Output: ------- 00000000 00000000 528 ./foo/bar.txt Master: ------- 00000000 00000000 200 ./foo/bar.txt Only the size differs here, and it doesn't matter, I would like to just ignore certain parts of the diff, kind of like an ansi c comment. Master: ------- 00000000 00000000 /*200*/ ./foo/bar.txt -- OR -- Master: d------ 00000000 00000000 /*10*/ ./foo//*123123*///*76456546*//bar.txt Output: d------ 00000000 00000000 0 ./foo/asd/sdf/bar.txt And still have it diff correctly. Is this even possible with diff, or will I have to write a custom script for it? Since I'm fairly new to cygwin I might be using the completely wrong tool all together, I'm happy for any suggestions. Update: Taking a step back, here is the general task at hand that I want to achieve. I want to write a script that checks the file system to see if the read/write permissions are set up correctly. The structure of the file system is under my control, so I don't have to worry about it changing too much. Sometimes folders/files might not be present, but if they are their permissions must be checked. For Example assume that the following is a snapshot of the current file system structure drw ./foo drw ./foo/bar -rw ./foow/bar/bar.txt drw ./foo/baz -rw ./foo/baz/baz.txt And this is what the file system structure might dictate, i.e. if these folders / files are present, the permissions must match. drw ./foo drw ./foo/bar -rw ./foo/bar/bar.txt --- ./foo/bar/foobar.txt drw ./foo/baz -rw ./foo/baz/foobaz.txt In this case the file system checked out ok, since all files present match their expected values. The situation becomes more complicated as soon as certain folders might have any arbitrary name, only due to their location I know what their permissions should be. Assume that the directory ./foo/bar in the above example might be such a case, i.e. instead of bar the folder could have any name, but still match the -rw permissions. This seems like a very complicated situation, and I'm not even sure if I can solve it with bash scripting alone. I might have to write an actual application.

• WPF: Asynchronous progress bar

  I'm trying to create a progress bar that will work asynchronously to the main process. • Updating a progress bar while wpf data binding is taking place (in c#)

  I bind a large dataset to a WPF list box which can take a long time (more than ten seconds). While the the data is being bound I'd like to display a circular progress bar I can't get the progress bar to show while the data binding is occurring, even though I am trying to do the binding in a backgroundworker. I tested it by making the first line of the backgroundworkd's dowork event a Thread.Sleep(5000) and sure enough the progress bar started spinning for that duration only to freeze while when the binding started. Is this because both the databinding and the UI updating have to occur on the same thread? Any ideas on how to work around it? Thanks for your help!!

• Double title bar issue iPhone app

  I have noticed that whenever a phone call comes in while my app is in use (Or I simulate in-call status bar using the simulator), and the phone call ends, I end up with a double status bar in my app. The status bar goes away if I click any other tab and come back to the original tab (my app has a UITTabBar in it). I have tried so many options that I am losing track now. The most I have read are to set your UIView's size to be flexible in interface builder but nothing seems to work. Please look at the screenshots. I am pasting a default view of the sizing options in interface builder but believe me I have tried every single configuration option there.

In an iPad app, I have five regular view controllers (not navigation controllers or anything like that) inside a tab bar controller. The tab bar controller is just a plain UITabBarController declared in the app delegate. All the view controllers return YES in the shouldAutorotateToInterfaceOrientation method. On both the simulator and device, on rotation, the tab bar and the current view controller rotate but the currently selected view controller (call it A) does not resize properly. It keeps its portrait width and height (but it is rotated). If I switch to another view controller B and then back to A (without rotating the device again), A appears correctly resized. This happens with any of the five view controllers Why doesn't the currently selected view controller resize immediately on rotation and how do I fix it? Thanks.

  With reference to the question I asked couple of days back, it seems to me that address bar cannot be hidden from a xpages mobile web application when it is launched from a href link. Choice is limited to href as "location.assign" or any javascript will not work on mails accessed by lotus traveller. I tried almost 20 different variations published by other experts to hide address bar and none seems to work. Am I wrong in stating that "it is not possible to hide address bar in Xpages mobile web application on ipad when not launched from home screen"?

• Help understanding how to make a bar chart using ggplot2

  I'm trying to use the bar_geom function of ggplot2, but I can't understand how to use it. I've made a small sample of my code to show what I am trying to do: library(ggplot2) # sample data sampleData = data.frame( v1=c('a','b','c','d','e', 'f','g', 'h', 'i','j'), v2=c(1:10) ) sampleData$Names = data.frame( Names = paste(sampleData$v1, sampleData$v2, sep="") ) sampleData$Values = c(1:10) # make plot x = sampleData$Values y = sampleData$Names qplot( x, y, data = sampleData, geom="bar" ) I want sampleData$Names to be on the x-axis of my graph, labeling each bar and and sampleData$Values to scale the bar height. I want the y-axis to be specified as a range. I realize that I don't understand how ggplot2 functions as this small example does not work, yet my other example is generating a plot but I cannot specify a y-range as it considers the variables to be categorical.

• Change UIImagePicker Navigation Bar style to blue

  All of my view has a blue navigation bar but when I want user to choose a photo, the UIImagePicker is black. I tried to set the navigation bar of UIImagePickerController to blue using UIBarStyleDefault but it does not work for me, the color is still black. I tried with other UIBarStyle like UIBarStyleBlack and UIBarStyleOpaque as well but it doesn't change the navigation bar of the picker anyway. Here is my code // Let the user choose a new photo. • Android - Notification bar height from a service

  Hi, The application I'm working on is a service which runs in the background in android. The problem is that I need to determine the height of the notification bar for some functionality of the service. I found a number of solutions for this, for regular activities - a view inside an activity can determine its own height without the notification bar, based on checking its actual view size from its onSizeChanged event, after it is already drawn. However, this is not applicable to a service which has no physical view drawn. I would really appreciate any ideas on getting the size of the notification bar at a system level, perhaps?
