  • Is it possible to add your own bookmarks/tabs to a PDF file?

    Hi folks, I've purchases a few e-books and love it. Some come with a massive list of bookmarks (kewl!) and some not. Regardless, is there a way i can create my OWN bookmarks so i can jump to specific pages? I don't want to mess up the current list of official bookmarks that came with the e-books (where they were provided). It's like i want to add my own sticky note tabs so i can quickly jump between pages etc, without having to remember the page number. Also, this is for Adobe reader (the free thingy). If it's available in another program (eg. Foxit, please say so also :) ) cheers!

I tried:- @mbx.EmailAddresses | foreach { $mbx.EmailAddresses -= $._SmtpAddress } and that failed miserably. That's my first attempt of PS script, ever :P Can anyone help?

  • Is there a way i can see why Squid (Proxy Server) determines why a resources should be a MISS?

    Hi folks, I'm using Fiddler/FireBug to debug some of our live server web content. We're getting a lot of :- X-Cache: MISS from X-Cache-Lookup: MISS from :8080 Via: 1.1 :8080 (squid/2.7.STABE3) I thought i knew a lot about cache-control / expires / last-modified / etags, etc.. but maybe not. So .. is there a way I can run squid in some verbose way to see why it thinks a resource which i request, is cached/is not getting cached, etc.. which is why we're getting MISSes back? cheers :)

  • Having problems VPN'ing into our Windows server network.

    Hi folks, When two people (on their notebooks) try to VPN to our office, only the first user gets a connection. the second user always times out. Is it possible for VPN to allow two or more people, using / sharing the same EXTERNAL PUBLIC IP to connect/authenticate? Now for some specifics (cause those two statements are very broad). I'm not in the IT Dept. I'm a developer. Our IT Dept don't really care (sigh) so it's up to me to fix this crap. Our office is all Microsoft shop stuff - servers and clients. We also have a firewall (watchguard brand?) and some other crazy setups (yes i know, it's very vague :( ). So i'm wondering - is it possible for multiple users, from the same public IP, to connect via VPN to a windows server? i'm under the impression - yes. But it is possible that this only happens when the clients (who are all behind the single, public IP .. otherwise they will have their OWN ip's) need to have UPnP running or something? this is killing me and i need to start asking the right questions cause these guys don't know what they are doing and i can't work without this happening. I know this is a vauge question with so many 'if-what's-etc' but maybe some questions/suggestions from you guys might start to lead to solving this problem.   • Help trying to figure out why IIS7 is crashing / locking up / denying connections

    Hi folks, I've got a pretty busy website that is running on a single web front end machine, on W2K8 + IIS7. Every now and then - eg. maybe monday at 3am or something, then a few days later .. some early morning time .. then nothing for 2 weeks ... etc - the website fails to respond to any client connections. ie. no one can connect to the website. I can remote desktop to the machine, etc no probs. I restart the app pool (the website is running in intergrated mode), still nothing. I try and get a crash dump of the process (it's around 600 mb maybe even more) ... that fails after about a min of trying (and i have plenty of HD space). The only way to fix this issue, is to manually stop the www service and then start it again. The stopping takes a while (a minute?) while starting is nearly instant. I'm at a loss to figure out what part of my code is causing this. At first, I thought it might be a stack overflow because of some error that might be going to the error page, which in turn errors .. rinse repeat boom. But i've had a look at the error page and it feels ok. So, I'm hoping someone might be able to help and say how I can correctly get a proper dump of the IIS process so i can then do some more autopsy on it. I would email Tess Ferrandez (the goddess of crash debuging) but I thought I'd try here before I spam her. Can anyone have any suggestions to how I can figure out how to start to debug this issue?

  • Why is my Mac not displaying anything to my LCD tv using HDMI?

    Hi folks, I've got an iMac desktop computer. Love it. I wish to connect it to my LCD TV using HDMI. There is no HDMI output on the iMac so i had to buy one of these bad boys :- so now I can output video (via the mini Display Port) and sound (via USB) through this box, to my LCD. Works great ... with a single direct cable. I have another 3 or 5 metre cable inserted into my wall, so i do not have to have a silly hdmi cable floating in the air between my iMac and my LCD TV. When I do this, there is no picture. To better explain all of this, i made a quick video explaining my problem in detail, so you can exactly see what is going on/wrong. I've also tried changing the output format for the TV from 1080i down to 720p and even lower .. incase the cable in the wall doesn't allow 1080i. here's the video with the full explanation :- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkKRKnRIh6Q (NOTE: I incorrectly said in the video that the hidden wall cable is 10 metres long. me == fail. It's 3m or 5m...). Can someone please watch it and suggest some ideas to getting it working?

  • Is it possible to do a 301 redirect AND redirect to the requested resource?

    For one of our projects, we're doing a rebranding of the website name, logo, etc... As such, we need to 301 Moved Permenantly redirect all users from the old domain to the new domain. With IIS7, that's pretty simple. We just create a new website that redirects all traffic to a host-headered domain .. to the new one. But this loses their original destination resource. eg. Old Domain: www.OldDomain.com New Domain: www.NewDomain.com User: www.OldDomain.com/user/PureKrome -> 301 --> www.newDomain.com Notice how it's going to the new domain BUT not to /user/PureKrome? How can I do this so it goes to the new domain and keeps the original resource request? I'm guessing URL-ReWriter for IIS7 might help? Also, what happens if I want to do this... CurrentDomain 1: Domain.com CorrectDomain 1: www.Domain.com CurrentDomain 2: AnotherDomain.com CorrectDomain 2: www.AnotherDomain.com Is it also possible to have those in the same IIS website? So any URL to domain.com will 301 to www.domain.com Right now I'm making 2 IIS websites, with a 301 hardcoded (which still means I lose the original resource request, too). Help!

  • Need help trying to allow my remote PowerShell script to run on my Windows 2008 r2 Server

    I've got a Windows 2008 r2 server with Sql Server 2008 r2 installed. I've got a Sql Server Agent which tries to run a Powershell job, but fails :- Message Executed as user: FooServer\SqlServerUser. A job step received an error at line 1 in a PowerShell script. The corresponding line is '& '\\polanski\Backups\Database\7ZipFooDatabases.ps1'' Correct the script and reschedule the job. The error information returned by PowerShell is: 'File \\polanski\Backups\Database\7ZipFooDatabases.ps1 cannot be loaded. The file \\polanski\Backups\Database\7ZipFooDatabases.ps1 is not digitally signed. The script will not execute on the system. Please see "get-help about_signing" for more details.. '. Process Exit Code -1. The step failed. Ok. So i run Powershell on that server then set the execution policy to unrestricted. To check .. PS C:\Users\theUser> Get-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted PS C:\Users\theUser> Kewl :) but it still doesn't work :( Ok ... what happens when i try to run the powershell from the command line.... PS C:\Users\justin.adler . '\polanski\Backups\Database\7ZipMotorshoutDatabases.ps1' Security Warning Run only scripts that you trust. While scripts from the Internet can be useful, this script can potentially harm your computer. Do you want to run \\polanski\Backups\Database\7ZipFooDatabases.ps1? Notice the file is located at... \\polanski\Backups\Database\ So can someone make any suggestions?

  • What does this error mean in my IIS7 Failed Request Tracing report?

    when I attempt to goto any page in my web application (i'm migrating the code from an asp.net web site to web application, and now testing it) .. i keep getting some not authenticated error(s) . So, i've turned on FREB and this is what it says... I'm not sure what that means? Secondly, i've also made sure that my site (or at least the default document which has been setup to be default.aspx) has anonymous on and the rest off.   • Have some questions about setting up a VPN to my private cloud servers

    I've got a number of Virtual Servers running at a pretty big Cloud provider. They are all running Windows 2008 R2. I have a CISCO ASA firewall in front of them. Currently, I've got all ports blocked except 80/443/21/3386 (for Remote Desktop). I asked to have a VPN enabled on the firewall and they said it's easy to do BUT I need to use the 3rd party Cisco software. Now, I don't want to get into a debate about it .. but we don't want to install anything extra on our -client- computers. We all use Windows 7 and we love using the built in VPN client to connect to other private LANS we have setup in other locations. So i'm wondering what options I have to create a VPN tunnel to our private cloud LAN? All our cloud servers are part of WORKGROUP, so there's no Active Directory .. nor do we want to install all that. Secondly, we know we can open up a firewall port - so any ports for starting a VPN is fine! Lastly, I was thinking of just using one of the existing servers as the VPN server (and using the Windows VPN software) .. but I'm not sure this is a good thing? Remember - we just want to use the baked in VPN software in Windows 7 .. which is PPTP or SSTP or L2TP/IPSEC. I would -LOVE- to use some free OSS software. For usernames/passwords? We'd probably just have one account .. like U:Hithere P:whatever.. so we don't need any hardcore account management, like Active Directory, etc. So does anyone have any ideas?

    Hi folks, Are there any free Microsoft Exchange hosted solutions? I understand that Microsoft Exchange is a paid/licensed product, but I was curious if there might be a host that has a free hosting model (e.g. for <= 3 mailboxes per domain)? Larger mail boxes per domain == cost. ?? Finally, please refrain from suggesting other mail services (eg. sendmail, etc).

  • Can TFS 2010 be installed onto a single server and in a Workgroup (not AD)

    Hi folks, currently, we're using TFS2010 at our office and we're about to move. Part of that move is a split of teams. Our team will get their own servers. So we need to build our own TFS server and add our current projects to that. Right now, our TFS server exists on TWO servers - one for TFS and one for our Continuous Integration .. i think that's a build controller or something. That really suxs for us - having TWO servers instead of one for all our source control. We love CI and how it works (after the massive massive pain it was to get our VS2010 solution to CI + web Deploy) ... but it does work. So - can we do this with ONE server? Also, we don't want to have an Active Directory. Will this also work?

  • How to quickly check if two columns in Excel are equivalent in value?

    I am interested in taking two columns and getting a quick answer on whether they are equivalent in value or not. Let me show you what I mean: So its trivial to make another column (EQUAL) that does a simple compare for each pair of cells in the two columns. It's also trivial to use conditional formatting on one of the two, checking its value against the other. The problem is both of these methods require scanning the third column or the color of one of the columns. Often I am doing this for columns that are very, very long, and visual verification would take too long and neither do I trust my eyes. I could use a pivot table to summarize the EQUAL column and see if any FALSE entries occur. I could also enable filtering and click on the filter on EQUAL and see what entries are shown. Again, all of these methods are time consuming for what seems to be such a simple computational task. What I'm interested in finding out is if there is a single cell formula that answers the question. I attempted one above in the screenshot, but clearly it doesn't do what I expected, since A10 does not equal B10. Anyone know of one that works or some other method that accomplishes this?

  • Conditional formatting Excel 2007/2010: Highlight the first cell in the row that contains duplicate values?

    I have a table with hundreds of columns and rows of data; each row and column have a header. For instance, column headers are ITEM, FILE1, FILE2, FILE3, etc. and row headers are AA, BB, CC, DD, and so on. Under conditional formatting, I used "Highlight Cells Rules" "Equal to", in order to highlight cells that have values equal to the value in another cell. In this case, my formula rule is: Rule: Cell Value = $A$1 Applies to: =$B$3:$G$8 When I input "X" into cell A1, Excel will highlight all of the cells that have a value equal to "X", in this case, the following cells are highlighted: B3, C5, G6, and E8. Here's my problem. The data that I am working with contains more than 100 columns and rows. I want to identify all of the ITEMS (AA, BB, CC, etc.) that contain the duplicate file "X". In order to do this I have to scroll right to left, and up and down. Here's my question. Is there a way to use conditional formatting to add an additional rule? I want to keep the current rule, but I also want the row header to be highlighted if any of the cells in that row contain a value equal to "x". In this case, I want AA, CC, DD, and FF to also be highlighted. Is this possible? I've spent days trying to figure this out - and no luck. Is there a way to display "Select a thingo" within the ComboBox' boundaries using pure XAML, or pure XAML and a few lines of code in the view's code-behind class?

    AD is at 2003 functional level, some of our DC's are running Windows Server 2003, some are 2008, some are 2008 R2. When using the following query: (objectCategory=user) I do not expect to see any result where the objectCategory attribute is equal to 'CN=Person,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=Contoso' I expect only objects where the objectCategory attribute is equal to 'CN=User,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=Contoso' However, the query does indeed return all objects with the objectCategory attribute equal to 'CN=Person,CN=Schema,CN=Configuration,DC=Contoso' My question then is this: Why do I see the search results that I do? Does AD actively translate queries that include (objectCategory=user) to (objectCategory=Person)? I have looked at the schema definitions for both the Person and the User class, but I cannot see any reason for the query results as I am experiencing them. I know that the User class is a subclass of the organizationalPerson class, which is a subclass of Person, but I can't see an attribute value that would explain this translation.

    I have a C program which puts one unique value inside a test file (it would be a two digit number). Now I want to run a shell script to read that number and then compare with my required number (e.g. 40). The comparison should deliver "equal to" or "greater". For example: The output of the C program is written into the file called c.txt with the value 36, and I want to compare it with the number 40. So I want that comparison to be "equal to" or "greater" and then echo the value "equal" or "greater".

I have idea: Write function for grass, dirt and store this function to 2D array and draw and later mapData[0][0].setZ(3); But it is good idea to write functions for each tiles?
