    In this NHibernate tutorial, I'll be digging into the ID tag and Generator classes.  I had originally planned on finishing up a series on relationships (parent/child, etc.) but felt this would be an interesting topic for folks, and I also wanted to start integrating some of the current NHibernate reference. Since this article also includes some reference sections (and since I have not had a chance to check for every possible parameter value), I used the current reference as a baseline, and would welcome any feedback or technical updates that I can incorporate.     ...but there's no reason why we can't look forward to the next one! It's going to take all week for me to catch up on last week's neglected email, sort through the freshly-collected business cards, and generally make sense of the mad dash that is Oracle OpenWorld. So I've been playing this amazing video (produced by Lozano Productions) to remind me of the last business/IT conference marathon I survived: Collaborate 2012. It was an amazing event where we officially launched the new design of Profit and enjoyed a drink with some of our closest friends--Oracle partners, customers, and peers. Many thanks to those who came out to celebrate and who continue to help make Profit a success. It was a great time that resulted in a lot of great new work and new relationships. So I'm taking a time out to remember that the hard work is worth it. See you in Denver next year!

    I'm hoping there's a book or something out there for me to get... If I have a class that has Collection as an instance variable, what is that method of coding called? A design pattern? If so, where can I find more information on it? As I've been working with this mentor, he's really helped me understand my programming weakness and that weakness is thinking in terms of collections or relationships between objects. It just seems so difficult for me right now and I need to read to become smarter.   • Why is Prolog associated with Natural Language Processing?

    I have recently started learning about NLP with python, and NLP seems to be based mostly on statistics/machine-learning. What does a logic programming language bring to the table with respect to NLP? Is the declarative nature of prolog used to define grammars? Is it used to define associations between words? That is, somehow mine logical relationships between words (this I imagine would be pretty hard to do)? Any examples of what prolog uniquely brings to NLP would be highly appreciated.

    Oracle Order Management now enables you to substitute items on internal sales order lines to manage item availability.  Oracle Order Management enables you to substitute items on internal sales order lines to manage item availability. Source organizations can decide to ship a substitute item in case the original item is not available to be shipped. The application supports manual (using Related Items window) and automatic (using ATP functionality) substitutions.To substitute an item on ISO, you must ensure that the value of the Item Substitution on Internal Order system parameter is set to a value other than None. In addition, you must ensure to define substitute item relationships and automatic item substitution setup in the system. The application provides the option to not send the notifications when any change happens on the ISO related to quantity, schedule arrival date, or item. You can control these notifications using the OM: Send Notifications of Internal Order Change profile option.     I have a legacy rails (version 1.2.3) app which runs without issue on a number of servers (not to mention my local environment). Each object can be related to another object and there can be any number of relationships and there can be any number of these objects. There is no restriction on the overall size of area on which to display these object. I am writing this in php and would be looking to store the coordinates in an array.

    I'm walking into a project with 500+ classes, and am wondering if anyone has had good experiences with automated modeling tools that can import from ASP.Net /C#? It would be a bonus if I could get an automated model based on all the objects called to completely load a single ASP.Net page, with relationships indicating which objects are calling out to which other ones, etc. Thanks for sharing your thoughts or recomendations.

  • DB Designer creates compound primary key

    When adding relationships to a database model in DB Designer 4, a composite primary key is being created every time. So every foreign key I add, I get an extra key added to a composite primary key. I think I must have changed a setting as I don't remember it doing this in the past. Does anyone know how to turn off this feature as I prefer to use a single surrogate primary keys in my database tables?

  • Testing the context in asp.net mvc

    I got pretty experienced with testing controllers, my question here is though, aren't we supposed to test the data context as well, and how ? I mean, there are a lot of relationships and constraints coming from the DB that simply testing controllers does not cover. On the other hand, testing against the DB is not considered a good practice - what then ? Simply testing without db.SubmitChanges() or what ?
