  • Interpreting Search Results

    Hi all, I am tasked with writing a program that, given a search term and the HTML source of a page representing search results of some unknown search engine (it can really be anything, a blog, a shop, Google, eBay, ...), needs to build a data structure of the results containing "what's in the results": a title for earch result, the "details" link, the position within the results etc. It is not known whether the results page contains any of the data at all, and whether there are any search results. The goal is to feed the data structure into another program that extracts meaning. What I am looking for is not BeautifulSoup or a RegExp but rather some clever ideas or algorithms on how to interpret the HTML source. What do I do to find out what part of the page constitutes a single result item? How do I filter the markup noise to extract the important bits? What would you do? Pointers to fields of research covering what I try to to are aly greatly appreciated. Thanks, Simon

Where(Function(e) e.Attribute("FilterElement") IsNot Nothing). Select(Function(e) New XElement("NewElement", New XAttribute("Text", e.Attribute("FilterElement").Value)))) Is it possible to re-write this using Linq syntax so I don't need to call out to the Sub AddElements but could do it all in-line Many Thx Simon

    Hey guys im in a very confused state of mind at the moment and need some help with Word Press and generally starting a website. My parents have had a business for 20 years and have finally decided to get a website! As im studying IT and Business i said id get it done for them. Rather than design it from scratch i used a template which i bought from themeforest.net (awesome template!) and yesterday a friend mentioned in passing using word press as a CMS which i had never heard of before, and he left before i could ask any questions. SO basically i have a site working on my computer and i have no idea how to get it live as a .com or .com.au, so far as i can see wordpress is a blog with .wordpress.com which isnt what im looking for.   • mysql connector/net ssl shutsdown the server

    Hello, when I try to connect my server throw connector/net using ssl with pfx certificate I had problem with establishing the connection. I get connection timeout. And the server probably fall down (I dont know it for sure, becouse I dont manage the server). On the Windows XP works all right, but on Windows 7 dont. Please, where is problem? In Windows 7 or on the server (mysql 5.0)? Sometimes I get "Calling interface SSPI Failed" error, but not everytime. Sometimes is only connection timeout error. Thank you a lot for any help.   • one variable and multiple controllers..

    I'm working on a web application, using the CAKEPHP framework. Herefor i need to request one variable on multiple pages (all pages have different controllers). it is oubvious that i get a error on several pages, since the variable isn't declared in all the different controllers. Is there a workaround for this? i've already tried the app:: import to import a controller in another controller, but this doens't seem to work (still get a undefined variable error).   • C++/CLI value class constraint won't compile. Why?

    Hello, a few weeks ago a co-worker of mine spent about two hours finding out why this piece of C++/CLI code won't compile with Visual Studio 2008 (I just tested it with Visual Studio 2010... same story). public ref class Test { generic<class T> where T : value class void MyMethod(Nullable<T> nullable) { } }; The compiler says: Error 1 error C3214: 'T' : invalid type argument for generic parameter 'T' of generic 'System::Nullable', does not meet constraint 'System::ValueType ^' C:\Users\Simon\Desktop\Projektdokumentation\GridLayoutPanel\Generics\Generics.cpp 11 1 Generics Adding ValueType will make the code compile. public ref class Test { generic<class T> where T : value class, ValueType void MyMethod(Nullable<T> nullable) { } }; My question is now. SolidQ colleague Mark Whitehorn, along with Mosha Pasumansky and Robert Zare do an amazing job of building MDX knowledge throughout the book.     I wish to count the number of objects returned from a query (but I do not need the actual objects themselves) from Sun Java System Directory Server 5.2. E.g., if I want to find all people with surname Smith, I would want something like ldapsearch -LLL -H ldaps://example.com -b "ou=people,dc=example,dc=com" "sn=Smith" but with some sort of count. Is this possible without returning all of the results?

  • Black Screen After Sleep (Win 8)

    I have an SSD only, Intel HD Graphics only, Ultrabook running on Windows 8 64-bit and after I turn it back on, after a long sleep of a few hours, the screen remains black even though the power is on (the fan and keyboard backlight are on). I have to force a shut down and switch it back on to use it normally again. Hibernation and hybrid-sleep are turned off. It comes out of sleep of less than an hour just fine. Any advise? Mark

    I have an array whose elements are name, reversed_name, first_initial and second_initial. A typical row is "Aaron Smith", "Smith, Aaron", "a", "s". Each row in the array has a first_initial or second_initial value of "a". I need to display the rows alphabetically but based on the "a" part, so that either the name or reversed_name will be displayed. An example output would be: Aaron Smith Abbot, Paul Adrian Jones Anita Thompson Atherton, Susan I really have no idea how to sort the array this way so any help will be much appreciated!

    How do I Capture ASP.NET output and then store it as temp memory so that I can use them in an application to do comparison. example. there's this site which has ASP output. Sorry I do not have server access, what I can do is view the output.     The problem is similar to this scenario: iptables rule still take effect after deleted Scenario: There are several clients(C1~C10) providing some services, such as SSH,HTTP..... The clients are actually a personal computer behind NAT. Their IP might be 192.168.0.x For easily access these machines through internet, I built a OpenVPN server(S1). All the C1~C10 connect to S1 with VPN address 10.8.0.x If A user(U1) wanna access C1 SSH through internet, he can connect to S1 with port "55555", and S1 port forward 55555 to 10.8.0.6:22 echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 55555 -j DNAT --to-destination 10.8.0.6:22 It works well until I mark the following in the openvpn server.conf: I marked this because I think this will make all connection go through S1 ;push "redirect-gateway" |-------(NAT)--------| (C1)--| (INTERNET)----(U1) |-----(VPN)----(S1)--| The C1~C10 have their own path to access internet resource through NAT . The server loading would be heavy if all C1~C10 connection go through S1 (for example, C1 is sending data to C2, or C1 is downloading data from a FTP site). Is there a way to solve this quandary?

    I've got a column in a database which contains company names, and customer names all in one field... what I'd like to do is keep the CompanyName column completely intact, but wherever there is a comma in the CompanyName I'd like to take that information and populate it into a FirstName and LastName field. So that basically...   • Create a Font using strings pulled from a string table.

    I am writing a tool to create an otf or ttc with only characters defined in our localized string table, so we can cut down memory usage. I already have the information for the Japanese characters we are using but I am unable to find an example of creating a new font based around these characters. Does anyone know of a good example or even the interface I can access to do this? I am working in C# with .NET 3.5. I am looking into Volt and TTOasm from Microsoft, but I am not sure if they will do exactly what I need. Any information is appreciated. Thanks, Matt Smith
