• C# filter results quarterly

  Hello! I am writing a simple C# application that is handling bank savings. I want to be able to show the results on either, yearly, monthly or quarterly basic how can this be done? How can I loop through a set of results and only show every third post (if I am using quarterly) for example. In Python I can use range(1,31,3) but how is it done in C#? UPDATE 1 I want to loop 12 times (annually) and calculate the interest each loop but I only want to print the results every third loop (quarterly). How can I achieve this? Please help!

• Flash CS5 AS3 drop shadow filter won't print

  Hello all, I've tried searching quite a bit to discover why I don't seem to be able to print drop shadow filters from within Flash. I have trouble printing, but if the movieclip I want to print has or contains a drop shadow, that clip will print sans the drop shadow. Anyone have any insight as to why this might be happening? If you want to try it out yourself, here is the simple print code I'm using.   Hi, I have been implementing a class which class extends ArrayAdapter and implements Filterable. The filtering part (in the performFiltering method()) seems to go ok, it fills the FilterResults object just as expected. But then I think I'm not doing it right on how to publish the results, atm I have : protected void publishResults(CharSequence prefix, FilterResults results) { // NOTE: this function is *always* called from the UI thread. subItems = (Vector)results.values; notifyDataSetChanged(); } But this simply won't "populate" my List with the received data. So now my question is how do I populate my List with the received results ? Do I have to do that programmatically ?

• How to avoid Hotmail/Live rejections for (legit) large volume eMailing?

  While qualifying eMail for Spam, Hotmail/Live checks the historical records of numbers of eMails sent by a sender (FROM, eMail Server, IP, etc.). Some times, perfectly valid bulk eMails that are not Spam, (i.e. double opt-in list, from a server with proper SPF Record, signed with DKIM, unregister links and contact info, etc.) are rejected and not delivered to destinataries. Not even to their Junk folder. I guess we can avoid this situation by progressivelly "training" Hotmail/Live about the reputation of our sender and sending small quantyties of eMails innitially and increasing the quantity for some amount/percentaje during each delivery. Are there guidelines or do you have any experience on these quantities, strategy, solutions? Thank you in advance.   I have a website, thebleudoor.com. It is hosted by yahoo. It gets 2000-3000 hits a day and has been for at least 5 years. A few months ago, as admin of the website, I started getting bounced back emails from newly created emails like [email protected]. Yahoo only shows 2 emails for my account. They said they can't do anything about it. Now, my "spam hacked email accounts" are getting spam. They haven't altered or used my website or email or bank info, just the good name of my website. Is there anything I can do? Do I need to be concerned? Changing my provider won't really help will it? Thank you.

• Rules Manager and Expression Filter getting removed

  I doubt that many people are using the Oracle features "Rules Manager" and "Expression Filter" as usually people handle these things (such as ensuring that a zip code or a car number plate has a certain format) within the application code and not inside the database. Oracle Beehive for instance uses that just on the side.  Anyway, just learned today that Rules Manager and Expression Filter components will get removed once our next database release most likely called Oracle Database 12c will get released. So before upgrading to Oracle Database 12c you can remove EXF and RUL components (SELECT COMP_ID FROM DBA_REGISTRY WHERE COMP_ID IN ('EXF','RUL'); ). You'd simply do that by executing the following script before upgrade:SQL> @?/rdbms/admin/catnoexf.sqlThis will clean up Rules Manager and Expression Filter components inside the database. You could run ?/rdbms/admin/catnorul.sql before but I believe catnoexf.sql will clean up everything already. Everything was going fine up until a week ago when all of a sudden all emails starting either going to spam boxes or not being sent at all.   Hello, I am building an application that requires a search to go deeper than the initial level. I am using nested scopes to accomplish this and params in the URL For example, when a user searches for "handbag" it creates a query like the following. http://localhost:3000/junks?search=handbag&condition=&category=&main_submit=Go! I want to add a :filter param to the end of this url and reload the page with the new url. http://localhost:3000/junks?search=handbag&condition=&category=&main_submit=Go!&filter=lowest_price As shown above the &filter=lowest_price is added to the query. I have already written controller code to handle this and I know it works as long as the query is like the 2nd link above. my views code <div class = "filter_options"> <p> <strong>Filter by:</strong> <%= link_to_unless_current "Recent", :filter => 'recent' %> | <%= link_to_unless_current "Lowest Price", :filter => 'lowest_price' %> | <%= link_to_unless_current "Highest Price", :filter => 'highest_price' %> </p> </div> This is how I have it currently, which works if my URL does not have a search string attached to it. Unfortunately, this will go to a http://localhost:3000/junks?filter=lowest_price even if there is a search string. I would like to know how to create my links so that they add onto the search string shown in the 2nd code example. Additionally, if a search string with a filter is already present, it would only change that filter and resubmit the search string with the new filter. I hope I am being clear.

Eh? This change in behaviour is due to the way the CLR searches for exception handlers. When an exception is thrown, the CLR stops execution of the thread, and searches up the stack for an exception handler that can handle the exception and stop it propagating further - catch or filter handlers. It checks the type clause of catch clauses, and executes the code in filter blocks to see if the filter can handle the exception. When the CLR finds a valid handler, it saves the handler's location, then goes back to where the exception was thrown and executes fault and finally blocks between there and the handler location, discarding stack frames in the process, until it reaches the handler. So? By replacing a fault with a catch, we have changed the semantics of when the filter code is executed; by using a rethrow instruction, we've split up the exception handler search into two - one search to find the first catch, then a second when the rethrow instruction is encountered. This is only really obvious when mixing C# exception handlers with fault or filter handlers, so this doesn't affect code written only in C#. However it could cause some subtle and hard-to-debug effects with object initialization and ordering when using and calling code written in a language that can compile fault and filter handlers.

My setup: DNS - done (A records PTR are ok) Mail Setup - done Webmail - done Also there seems to be a naming problem. They all come from [email protected] instead of [email protected]. I must be missing an alias somewhere. I've read an entire book on setting this up so don't throw stones :) The GUI is masking a lot of this up for me, so explanations via GUI is appreciated.

  We are experiencing website attacks that trigger the submission of a form, and send alert emails. Normal process of form submission is to fill up a couple of text fields, and when the user is redirected, the next page processes $_POST. If $_POST exists, then the email to intended form recipients is triggered. What is happening right now, we are receiving the email of the form submission, three emails at a time with same information. The information per email is the same, but not all of the spam emails contain the same information, each batch of triggered emails has unique information. The form has no captcha, and if possible we would like to keep it this way. The website has worked fine and had no spamming problems until today. We have monitoring software for the website, but whoever is submitting this form over and over is not being recorded by the tracking software WHY IS THIS? IS THE PERSON ACTUALLY VISITING THE WEBSITE? The only suspicious visit tracked was on November 10th, and this record ALSO shows three forms submitted (this is how I identified possible first visit by attacker). Then no incidents until today. WHAT IS THE GOAL of the spam attack? Is the attacker expecting us to respond to the bogus emails? What can they achieve with repeated submission of form Why are three emails triggered in the row? Is this indicative that they may be using a script? This is a PHP website. Is there a way for a client to view the PHP code of a page? Thank you

  Hi, I've been battling with this issue for couple of months. I need to send bulk mail (not spam) through my social network to users in situations like newsletters, site invitations (when user imports their address book contacts) I'm using shared hosting and it limits 500 mails per hour. Even though i manage to send mails most of them end up in user's spam box. After researching these are the solutions that i finally came up with. 1) Use Google Apps SMTP (http://www.google.com/apps/intl/en/business/features.html) 2) Move into VPS 3) Use shared hosting with throttle enabled Please advise me on what to choose. Will using Google Apps prevent mail being sent as spam? I can't use other 3rd party SMTP like iContact or Aweber as "invitation sending script" will send emails to thousands of contacts, depending on user's addressbook. Thanks in advance

But I'm stymied on how to prevent image spam: porn, ads in image form, etc. Assumptions: I'm assuming that the spammers are clever, even human. I'm skeptical of the efficacy of image analysis software. I do not have the resources to approve all uploads manually. I am willing to spend money on the solution -- within reason.   My company uses a standalone spam-assassin install to test marketing emails, however, mail originating from us does not seem to run the full gamut of test. For example, Spam assassin has a default rule that flags messages that contain the phrase Dear [Something], and it properly flags spam that I feed it.It does not, however, apply that same rule to in house email I send it. Is it possible that spam assassin has white-listed us somehow, perhaps because the mail originates in the same domain as the server or receiver? I believe most of the recent spamassassin questions have been mine, so thanks for bearing with me as I figure this out! • Outlook.com Sweep rule vs Filter rule

  New outlook.com introduced new sweep option. With it, you can create a filter to move messages from particular sender to a particular folder after certain days the mail comes. This rules gets added to the Filter list. However we cannot edit this rule by clicking Edit in front of it in that list. The dialog appears saying you should delete the rule and create the new one. I don't understand why sweep rules are considered differently from Filter rules? I have 68 filter rules. What if I want to add such time clause to these filter rules so that instead of moving the incoming mails immediately to a certain folder, they will be kept in Inbox for say 10 days and then they will be moved. Such time clause cannot be added to the filter rules. So should I delete all these 68 filters and create new Sweep rules?

• How to whitelist a domain while blocking forgeries using that domain?

  How do you deal with the case of: wanting to whitelist a domain so that emails from it won't get eaten, but not having emails forged to appear to be from that domain get bogusly whitelisted whitelist_from_recvd looks promising, but then you have to know at least the TLD of every host that could send you mail from that domain. Often RandomBigCompany.com will outsource email to one or more sending companies (like Constant Contact and the like) in addition to using servers that reverse-resolve to something in its own domain. But it looks like whitelist_from_recvd can only map to one sending server pattern so that would be problematic. Is there a way to say something like "if email is from domain X, subtract N points from the spam score"? The idea would be that if the mail is legit, that -N will all but guarantee it isn't considered spam. But if it is spam, hopefully all the other failed tests will render it spam even with the -N being included.
