  • Widely-used load balancing solutions?

I want to ask about widely-used solutions in the world now. Can you give me a list and a brief introduction for each? The idea is so that everyone can see and update what they need in any given environment to meet their project needs. Does anyone know of any systems out there which can achieve this?     Dears, i have successfully installed CouchDB 0.11 on Ubuntu 10.04 based on the Installation instruction in couchdb wiki for ubuntu 10.04. with appending " --bindir=/usr/bin --sbindir=/usr/sbin --localstatedir=/var --sysconfdir=/etc" in ./configure and CouchDB Running successfully and got " {"couchdb":"Welcome","version":"0.11.0"}" But the Test Suite is not running successfully, with being freeze in the first task "basic". any support to solve that and making the Test Suite running smoothly on Ubuntu 10.04.

    Hello all I've configured external access to some sharepoint applications, including MySites, using AAM and ISA configuration. Every seems working well, but when using the external access (ie via https), some links are not working because they use the internal name (http://mysite) instead of the FQDN via https (https://mysite.mydomain.fr*) Any hint or suggestion are welcome. *yes, i'm french. =) EDIT : examples of links that are not working : - when clicking on a folder in a library - when clicking on "My links" then "My sharepoint sites" and then clicking on one of the links displayed

  • Should I install software on a "SAN"

    Hi, I need to set up ColdFusion 9 on a ubuntu server that has a SAN disk mounted. Is it appropriate to install the CF server software on this disk? I don't really understand the ins and outs of what a SAN is, so I am not sure if the intention is for me to solely install web content on it or whether the server software itself should go here too.     The official recommendation of Ubuntu is to use sudo do-release-upgrade to do an online upgrade from one version to the next. Historically many of my Debianite friends and myself have simply altered apt's sources.list and run apt-get dist-upgrade. I follow Ubuntu's recommendations, but I've always wondered what the magic difference between these two processes is. What, exactly, does do-release-upgrade do, on say an upgrade from 9.04 to 9.10? (Examples from other releases welcome.)

    My Macbook Pro already dual boots MacOSX or Ubuntu with ReFit. I would like to add Windows 7 in the mix. I can make enough space in the Mac partition to accomodate that, but just want to be sure the Windows installation is not going to wipe out anything and I will still be able to access both OS. Anything else to watch out for is welcome. (Sorry for not posting a question about an actual problem, but I figured that when I have a problem, it will just be too late).

  • What other protocols must not be fire-walled for FTP to work?

    my Netgear router randomly reset itself the other day loosing all of my config settings: DSL details, Firewall rules, the lot! So I set about restoring all of the details manually, but when it came to configuring the firewall I wanted improve the security by explicitly setting 'deny' rules for everything that I figured is 'non-essential', and (although not necessary) whilst I was at it I set explicit 'allow' for the 'essential' protocols. I'll admit now I didn't really know what I was doing and everything was just 'my best guess', but I enabled only DNS, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SFTP, TFTP with everything else blocked. This did not work for me as I could not access 99% of web sites (although strangely Google worked!), so I played around a bit more and found that (oddly) if I disabled just the explicit 'allow' rules then everything worked fine, for browsing anyway. Today I came to work on some web-sites via FTP and just could not get a consistent connection, it kept dropping out after a few files or being blocked by the server or simply not connecting. It would authenticate okay but then stop when retrieving the initial directory listing! e.g.: Status: Delaying connection for 1 second due to previously failed connection attempt... Status: Resolving address of ftp.domain.co.uk Status: Resolving address of ftp.domain.co.uk Status: Connecting to 123.123.123.123:21... Status: Connecting to 123.123.123.123:21... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Response: 421 Too many connections (8) from this IP Error: Could not connect to server Status: Delaying connection for 5 seconds due to previously failed connection attempt... I've checked and re-checked the FTP settings (they worked before anyway), I have Googled the I.T. out of the various protocols that I have blocked in the fire-wall but none seem essential to FTP (other than FTP/SFTP etc. which I have passively enabled). I'm (clearly) no server engineer, or protocols / fire-wall expert so I was hoping that some one could maybe shed some light on why my FTP is failing. I've been wondering if I ought to be allowing BGP, BOOTP and/or IDENT (or any others)? What other protocols are required for FTP? Thanks in advance!

  • Chrome in Linux Ubuntu stays in Full screen mode

    I've recently installed the latest version of Chrome for Linux on my Ubuntu 9.10 installation. The only problem is is that it stays in Full Screen mode no matter what I do. I pressed F11 but it does not want to return to normal mode. I even completely uninstalled it using synaptic package manager en re-downloaded it and still nothing. Any suggestions will be welcome.

  • windows 7 logging off standard users

    I've a Windows 7 installation with 2 users, one administrator and the other is not. If I try to logon with the standard user it show the Welcome Screen and them logoff immediately. If I logon with the administrator user or if I set the standard used as an administrator it works without problems. Any idea? Windows 7 Ultimate running on a netbook, AVG Antivirus, no special software or any other specific configuration. Regards Massimo
