  • Can I fire a Text Changed Event for an asp.net Text Box before it loses focus?

    I have an asp.net TextBox in which I want to check if the text entered into the TextBox is > 0. It works once I tab out or click out of the TextBox, but if I keep focus on the TextBox, it won't fire the Text Changed Event, so I have the following scenario, I want to enable something if and only if the TextBox.Text.Length = 0. Now, if I put my caret in the TextBox and delete all the characters and then leave the caret in the TextBox so it still has focus and take my mouse and click a button, it will not do what it was supposed to do because it never fired the Text Changed Event. How would something like this be handled?

    Hi guys, I have no experience with jquery or javascript for that matter. I am trying to implement this technique to respond to users for errors or messages in general. lights-out-dimmingcovering-background-content-with-jquery This method uses the onclick event and that's not what im after, I have tried to replace .onclick with .load but that doesn't seem to work. I'm after a quick fix as I really don't have the time to learn jquery or its event handlers. The goal is to catch any errors or message's and once these are called the alert box is called without any further actions such as .onclick.     As part of my web project ,I have designed a div tag like a window form as Shown in the figure.I just want to fill details in the textbox when the user clicks the edit label.The div is Invisible at first time. when the user clicks on edit label ,the form-div get fadein(visible). During this time an event should fired in the code behind. But I am not getting any events in the code behind like visisbility changed or some thing like that. Where can i get this event. Simply i want to display appropriate company name in the textbox in the div , when the user clicks the edit label in each row.

  • What's the VB.NET equivalent of this C# code for wiring up and declaring an event?

    I'm working on a tutorial to build a media player in Silverlight and am trying to wire up an EventHandler to the timer.Tick event of a DispatchTimer object so that the time of the video is synced with a Slider object. The sample code is in C# and I can't for the life of me figure out the proper syntax in VB.NET with RaiseEvent and/or Handles to wire up the event. Below is the relevant C# code.   • Calling a void async. - Event based pattern, or another method?

    I have a class that basically stores files in amazon s3. Here is what it looks like (simplified) public class S3FileStore { public void PutFile(string ID, Stream content) { //do stuff } } In my client app, I want to be able to call: var s3 = new() S3FileStore(); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile1")); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile2")); s3.PutFile ("myId", File.OpenRead(@"C:\myFile3")); I want this to be an asynchronous operation - I want the S3FileStore to handle this (i don't want my caller to have to execute PutFile asynchronously so to speak) but, i want to be able to trap exceptions / tell if the operation completed for each file. I've looked at event based async calls, especially this: http://blogs.windowsclient.net/rendle/archive/2008/11/04/functional-shortcuts-2-event-based-asynchronous-pattern.aspx However, I can't see how to call my PutFile (void) method? Are there any better examples?

  • How do I process a jQuery SVG group event in a single handler?

    I'm trying to draw a button using jQuery SVG, the button is a filled rect and the text is placed on top of the rect. Rect and text are grouped and I want to control the mouseover/mouseout events. The problem is: mouseover/mouseout events are triggered separately for every element of the group. Is it possible to make a single event handler for entire group? Here is an example: gClear = svg.group(); btClear = svg.rect(gClear, 10, 10, 100, h-20, 5 ,5, attrs); txtClear = svg.text(gClear, 35, 30, "Clear", {fontFamily: "Verdana", fontWeight: "bold", fontSize: "16px"}); $(gClear, svg.root()).bind("mouseover", function() { $(btClear).animate({svgFill: '#adf'}, 100); }).bind("mouseout", function() { $(btClear).animate({svgFill: '#fff'}, 100); }) When I move the mouse inside the rect the events mouseover/mouseout are triggered.   • Best way to do something when a runloop event is done processing?

    I have some processing in my Cocoa app that sometimes ends up calling through a hierarchy of data to do a bunch of work as the result of an event. Each small piece creates and destroys some resources. I don't want those resources around most of the time, but I would like to find a smart way of creating them before all the work and killing them at the end. Short of creating the resources up front and then passing them entirely down through the call hierarchy when work is done, is there a way to know locally in some code when an event loop run has ended? Then I could create them if they're not there, and keep them until the run loop ends, reusing them for any subsequent calls before that time. Thanks.

  • What is the best way to detect Copy (Ctrl+C) event in an IWpfTextView?

    I am trying to detect a copy event in the text view and I have been researching the best way to do this. Is it to possibly hook into the StandardCommand Copy event somehow and detect it that way? Or is it possible to use the KeyProcessor(and simply detect Ctrl+C keypresses)? My extension is currently implementing the IWpfTextViewCreationListener; is there a way to somehow get access to the KeyProcessor or StandardCommand from the IWpfTextView that the listener is passing to me? If so, can you post a code sample that demonstrates this? Thanks, Nick

  • Is there such a thing as a dektop application event aggregator, similar to that used in Prism?

    The event aggregator in Prism is great, and allows loosely coupled communication between modules within a composite application. Does such a thing exist that allows the same thing to happen between standalone applications running on a user's desktop? I could imagine developing a solution that uses WCF with TCP binding and running inside Windows Process Activation Service. Client applications could subscribe or publish events to this service as required and it would ensure all other listeners get notified of events as appropriate. Using TCP would enable event messages to be pushed out to clients without the need for polling, ensuring messages are delivered very quickly. I can't help but think though that such a thing would already exist... Is anyone aware of something like this, or have any advice on how it may be best implemented?

    I need to count how many buttons are toggled using the jqueryui checkbox button option - .buttonset(). This needs to happen when a button is toggled. I added a unique class to the labels before applying the button set and have set a click event on it. It fires fine, however it is firing before the jqueryui has processed the click so the result is out of date.   • How can I get jquery .val() AFTER keypress event?

    I got: $(someTextInputField).keypress(function() { alert($(this).val()); }); Now the alert always returns the value BEFORE the keypress (e.g. the field is empty, I type 'a' and the alert gives me ''. Then I type 'b' and the alert gives me 'a'...). But I want the value AFTER the keypress - how can I do that? Background: I'd like to enable a button as soon as the text field contains at least one character. So I run this test on every keypress event, but using the returned val() the result is always one step behind. Using the change() event is not an option for me because then the button is disabled until you leave the text box. If there's a better way to do that, I'm glad to hear it!

  • YUI Image Loader Images Above Fold Not Loading Until Scroll event.

When the timer reaches 1, I'd like to trigger a click event. The difficulty I'm having is getting a script that i'm running via Jash to know when the timer changes to 1.     I am developing a simple application where in we have predefined quotas on usage for each user on the system.. and if the quota is up..the system should logoff of the user account.. this will happen if the application is allowed to run.. but if the user is closing the application on his own ..the app should automaticaly logoff the account.. i did exactly that in writing forced logoff code in form-closing event.. but if we are closing the app/process using the taskmanager.. the form closing event is not being called. and so the user is able to continue even if his quota of time is up.. can anybody helpme out with this..

  • Best way to set a default button (or trigger its event in javascript) for an input field, not part of a form

    I've got a stand-alone input field, not part of any form. I also got a button, that has some onclick event. When I type something in the input field, and press the Enter key, I want it do effectively press the button, or trigger its onclick event. So that the button is "the input field's default button" so to speak. <input id='myText' type='text' /> <button id='myButton' onclick='DoSomething()'>Do it!</button> I guess I can mess around with the input field's onkeypress or onkeydown events and check for the Enter key, etc. But is there a more 'clean' way, I mean something that associated the button with that input field, so that the button is the 'default action' or something for that field? Note that I'm not inside a form, I am not sending, posting, or submitting something. The DoSomething() function just changes some of the HTML content locally, depending on the text input.

    How does application/JVM know which classes if implemented key handling interfaces ? Does it use java Reflections or does it check all the classes for methods ? How can a application or executing JVM understanding to deliver the user event or call the specific methods on a class that implemented the keylistener interface. Does it look at all the classes if those methods are implemented or how does it know which classes implmented keylistener interface ? If you dont implement the keylistener Interface for a class but still implmentation all its methods. Do the class still process the user event occurred ?
