    Having trouble with a challenge. Let's say I have a theoretical, base 10, floating point calculator with the following characteristics Only 3 digits for mantissa 1 digit for exponent Sign for mantissa and exponent How would this machine compute the following? 300 + \sum_{i=1}^{100} 0.2 The correct result is 320. The machine's result is 300. But why? Can't get where the 20 goes goes missing... Thanks for your time.

    I have a container div. Width: 80%, margin-left: 10% and margin-right 10%. The problem is, the container is displaying to the left in all the browsers I check. If I change the value of margin-left to 20%, it looks ok. I will supply code if necessary but is there anything obviously wrong here? Isn't 80 with a margin of 10 on each side correct to center a div? GF

    Hi I am using visual studios 2010 and created a javascript file(jscript.js) and I saw on one page saying you can make constant variables in javascript like: const x = 20; bu to on another page I read it says you can't. So I am confused now what is it now? Also in Visual studios when I write "const" it underlines it in the javascript file and goes syntax error.

    I came upon a comment on another forum today and one user responding to another suggested that a CS degree is really only good for one through two years at the most, and after that its as if you never had it. Is this really true? is this what employers think? When I did CS I never learned anything new, we learned fundamentals like data structures, algorithms, time complexity, OS fundamentals, language characteristics. Most of this stuff has been around for the past 20 years or so.

    When I learned Java, I was told that the arraylist works this way: It creates an array with room for 10 elements. When the 11th element is added, it is created a new list with room for 20 elements, and the 10 elements are copied into the new array. This will repeat as until there are no more elements to add, or to a maximum size. Is the List in .NET constructed the same way?

    Has anyone else having an issue with browser caching when using .net? I am using VS 2008 and IE8. And I include all the recommended code to ensure that there is no caching, still 20% of the time, I get cached values. This was never an issue with classic asp. Any ideas?

However, I do not find any clue about how to get this metrics by newrelic REST API (I can get the CPU usage of processes by REST API). Is it possible to do this?

The question is, lets say 5 users create accounts at exactly the same time. Will it return the ID from the database for that users profile that was just created, or will it return the last insert?     My application does a CreateIC (and later, an OpenPrinter) for the user's default printer. When this is a remote printer, and that printer is powered down or otherwise not present on the network, it takes over 20 seconds for the CreateIC to return. I'm looking for some call I can make that will give me a quick answer if the server is down (so I can return a status and not try to do the CreateIC/OpenPrinter). My environment is c/c++ (non-managed).
