• PostgreSQL 9.0 HA load balancing between servers

  Hey folks, I'm bashing my head to configure load balancing stuff between two database servers. I have no clue whether, I can find any mechanism to implement this. I already tried to implement Heart beat clustering but it requires virtual Ip wherein I can't create virtual IP or assign my own IP address in amazon EC2. Is there a way to configure PostgreSQL database servers in similar to Amazon load balancing kind of thing ? If so, please suggest the solution. Thanks in advance.

• Emails going into junk and spf records

  Hi, our emails are being flagged as junk. I have two different webistes both with their own dedicted ip address. sitea.com = xx.xx.xx.43 siteb.com = xx.xx.xx.44 Im using hmailserver to host our emails and have the smtp bound to the ip address of xx.xx.xx.42 im aware that i can set up a spf record to state that the what servers emails can be sent from v=spf1 mx ip4:xx.xx.xx.43 mx:mail.sitea.com ip4:xx.xx.xx.42 -all Would the fact that email are not sent from the sites ip's be causing them to be flagged as junk. • Remote access and local access same hostname

  Hi serverfault, I have a server in a clients network, seperated from theirs with a router/firewall, the intention is to have this server available through one hostname (example.com) My idea is to have (at least) a DNS server in the outside, to have outside (out of the clients' network) access the internal server. The problem would at that point be the internal client (PC A) My question: What would I have to do to make something like this work? Is it even possible or already done? The goal is to not have to change anything on either PC A or PC B, while both should access the same "internal server" while surfing to "example.com" Perhaps adding logic to the DNS server would work (Detect the external IP of internal client [PC A] is the same as the IP for example.com - Give the local IP as reply?) • Get into the router setting without knowing the password [on hold]

  So my father has changed the router passwords, and programed the router to turn my wifi connection off automaticly at some times, for example at night. I wanted to know if there is any way I can trick this feature? Can i change my ip in some way, the router won't recognize my ip, so my new ip would have internet connection? Is it any way i can get into the router settings and turn that feature off without knowing the router password? Would be happy if I could get replies as soon as possible!

• DNS record reappears after having been deleted

  I've got a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 acting as a domain controller for a small network. It provides DHCP and DNS among a few other services. It's only got a single NIC, but it's configured with two IP addresses. I want it's name to resolve to one of the two IP addresses assigned to its NIC. I've unchecked "Register this connection's addresses in DNS" under the "Advanced TCP/IP Settings". Currently we've got two distinct DNS Host (A) records for this domain controller: dc-001 - 10.0.0.1 dc-001 - 10.0.100.1 I've deleted the first entry but it continues to reappear in my dnsmgmt snap-in. Unfortunately I'm not a Microsoft systems administrator by trade. Does anyone familiar with Microsoft server environments know why a deleted Host (A) record would reappear? Is there another check-box I need to toggle? Thanks in advance to all of you Microsoft experts out there.

  I host my own multiple Websites on my server. How do i setup my own child nameserver? There are 4 different websites, with .com and .net and .ro at the end. I moved them to my own server. My Domain Administration (Registrar) let's me define my own child nameserver with my own IP and i've added my nameserver as my domain nameservers list. ns.something.ro as the first and only in the nameservers list ns.something.ro with my own IP address as the child nameserver I've setup everything and it works (kind of). When i use my ns IP adress directly i can of course access everything. Using "normal" external dnses will not work. As expected others on the web can't resolve correctly. What's wrong? Am i missing something?

• Redirect traffic to local address so iOS speedtest app measures LAN speed

  I have mounted a Speedtest Mini server on a local LAMP, so I can test my LAN speeds effortlessly just by opening the URL with a Flash enabled web browser, the thing is, I want my iOS and Android devices to test with the LAN server too, not with the WAN, as I'm trying to measure LAN-Only performance. Is there a way so I can redirect the traffic intended to an specific external IP (The one of the real server) to my local server?. I know the servers IP as a short Wireshark analysis gave me the data, but still searching for a way to make that redirect. I have Jailbreak and root on my devices, so playing with system files is not a problem. I've tried mounting a proxy and making redirects by the hosts file and domain names, but it looks like Ookla's app relies on IP address only.

• nslookup returning different results

  I'm having a problem with my machine. A site that I used to be able to access is no longer being found. After running nslookup, I notice that about 9 times out of 10 it returns a specific IP which times out if I ping it, but about 1 in 10 times it returns a different IP which works when I ping it. I've even tried adding an option parameter into nslookup to hit different DNS servers (such as Google's public DNS) and am getting the same result. Any idea what would cause the IP returned by DNS lookup to change back and forth like that?

  Possible Duplicate: Windows Server 2003 Router with PortForwarding Situation We have Verizon Fios 25/25 Internet Connection, Server acting as a router, and around 12 office computers. Task Portforward port 29000 from office computer. Problem Once I connected wan and lan cables I just had to set static lan ip (on server) and plug in switch with office computers into second nic. Then just right click on wan nic and select share internet connection. All office computers were assigned with an IP address 192.168.0.XXX and Gateway 192.168.0.1 (server). Now I have to open port and portfoward it from computer 192.168.0.190 (static ip, manual). Before enabling "RRA" I had to unshare internet connection (wan interface) and was able to setup network. Now how do I setup a network within "RRA" and share internet with private network? • Routing traffic to a specific NIC in Windows

  I added a 10GB NIC to a SQL server which is connected over to a backend storage using ISCSI. I would like to force traffic going to a certain IP address/host to use the 10gb NIC, while all other traffic should continue to use the 1GB NIC. The 10gb nic is configured using a private network. So far I have added a entry in the host file to the host I want to go over the private network and when I ping the host, it does return the private IP, but I'm still finding traffic going to the 1gb pipe. How can I force all traffic to this host to use the 10gb interface? Would the best approach be a static route? 160.205.2.3 is the IP to the 1gb host, I actually want to the traffic to route over an interface assigned 172.31.3.2, which is also defined as Interface 22. That said, would this work? route add 160.205.2.3 mask 255.255.255.255 172.31.3.2 if 22

• In VirtualBox, how can I access host localhost from guest (Visual Studio Dev Server from IE7 testing VM)?

  Host OS is Win7 running MyApp in the Visual Studio Development Server, bound to localhost:51227, VM is VirtualBox configured with NAT. Guest OS is Win XP with IE7 installed. My goal is to debug MyApp (running on host) from within IE7 (running on guest). Visual Studio Development server only binds to the loopback network device (i.e. localhost). It does not bind to the external IP address of my host. I've tried access 10.0.2.2:51227 from IE7 on the guest (and confirmed that 10.0.2.2 is the gateway address using ipconfig), but it appears that 10.0.2.2 binds to the external IP of the Host, NOT the loopback IP (localhost), so this does not work. Any suggestions?

  It is quite possible that my question may not make a lot of sense. I apologize, but I am not a networking guy, and that's my excuse. To elaborate, WikiPedia defines "Default Gateway" as a node on a "TCP/IP" network. And the way it works is that if a network interface is sending a packet to an IP address not present on its subnet, it sends it out to the default gateway (which then knows what to do with that packet). Is this true if a UDP packet (datagram) is involved? I mean, if my network interface is sending a UDP packet to an IP address that is not present on its subnet, would it automatically send it to the Default Gateway as well?

When a user typed in blog.domain.com it would resolve to the Wordpress.com site. Since coming on board (two months) they wanted me to bring the blog in house. So, I set up a wordpress install at domain.com/blog. I would like blog.domain.com (different ip) to resolve to domain.com/blog but still using blog.domain.com is this possible with Apache and mod_rewrite?

  For some reasons I installed virtual machines inside a virtual machine, like this: A( B( C )) where A is the physical machine, B is a vm and the network type is NAT. And C is also a virtual machine and the network type is bridged. The OSes are Ubuntu 12.04 and the hypervisors are kvm. I can access B via VNC and via ssh from A, but for C I can't use ssh because C has no IP address at the start. And I assume I can only access C via VNC. I tried something like(on A): iptables -t nat -A PREROUTING -d $ip-of-A -p tcp --dport 6500 -j DNAT --to-destination $ip-of-B:5900 (I referred to this) But it doesn't work. And I'm reading the man pages of iptables and hope someone could help :)

• Windows clients cannot access machine running DHCP server

  I'm trying to setup a small LAN, using an Ethernet switch, an Arch Linux server, and around 10 Windows XP machines. This network has no outside connections. The Arch machine has a self configured ip address (configured with ip addr add 192.168.0.1 dev eth0), and acts as a DHCP server(using dhcpd). This portion works great, windows clients get IP addresses, the correct gateway settings, perfect. However, the clients cannot connect to each other, or to the dhcp server. When I run ping 192.168.0.1 on any client, I get no response, same happens if I try to ping any other client. On the gateway machine, I can't ping any of the clients either. Any help would be much appreciated!

  Instead of changing my host file I'd like Firefox to think my domain is on my own server while my other browser uses the real IP address. I used to edit my host files but that forces both browsers to change the IP address. I found change host, but it doesn't appear to use the alternative host file. I also saw a comment asking when it will work on Firefox 6+. I tried Host Admin and it fails. It works but the alternative IP address must be in your host file already (which I don't want) and it lets you deselect a domain so the host file is ignored which is not what I want.

• Cannot SSH into Virtual Machine

  I am running a CentOS VM on my desktop that I use for development testing when coding in python. At my school I have a dedicated IP setup for the VM and my desktop so I never seem to have an issue ssh'ing from desktop into VM. I am now at home for winter break and cannot seem to SSH into the VM using the local ip address behind my router, the external IP with port 22 forwarded to my VM, or anything. Strangely enough I can ssh into my production server and then fromt here ssh into the VM, but not from my desktop to the VM directly What should I do to get this to work? Thanks

• Subdomain on a separate server (Windows/IIS) won't load default web site?

  I've got a domain hosted under godaddy.com. I set it up so that subdomain.mysite.com points to a different server which uses Windows/IIS (say for example ip 1.1.1.1). When I go to the subdomain I get no errors, but no webpage loads. In IIS under the default website I added a bindings for subdomain.mysite.com with the ip of 1.1.1.1, but still nothing loads, just a totally blank page. I know for sure the subdomain host is working correctly because when I ping my subdomain, the correct IP shows. What am I missing to get this working?

  I have two physical network adapters installed in my Hyper-V host. I want one to be dedicated to the host, and the other to provide external network services to the VMs. Would the appropriate configuration be as such: Leave the first physical network adapter alone, assigning it the host IP, but not using it to create any Virtual Netorks For the second physical adapter, I would create an External Network, along with a Microsoft Virtual Switch, and use that to provide network services to the VMs. Each virtual NIC for the VM would be associated with that External Network. A static IP would be assigned to this adapter, and each VM would be assigned a static IP as well. The above seems reasonable to me, but I'm not sure if it's correct. Does anyone have any thoughts? • xenserver: xe command never returns?

  I'm trying to port a xen server 6.2 pool to a new IP address range. I've got three servers total: 2 currently at their new IP but no longer in the pool and one remaining. I'm trying to set IP address information on the two disconnected ones using the xe command and all of its variants. Oddly enough, it never returns with any values. xe host-list It just sits there until I ctrl-c it. The server is still awake and responding though. I can enter other commands (EG ifconfig) and they work fine. If I enter this same command on the remaining server in the pool it works ok. I've tried restarting the toolstack and even rebooting. No change. What am I doing wrong?

• OpeVPN log connecting client IPs

  I looking for the best solution to log all connecting client's ip to either a text file or a database who logs into my VPN server. Under the IP I mean the public WAN IP on the internet where they are connecting from. A hack could definitely be to make the openvpn server log to a separate logfile and run logtail periodically to extract the necessary information. So the database I want to build would look like: Client_Name | Client_IP | Connection_date roadwarr1 | 72.84.99.11 | 03/04/14 - 22:44:00 Sat Please don't recommend me to use the commercial Openvpn Access Server. That's not a real solution here. If the disconnection date could be determined that would be even better so I could see how long a client was connected and from where! Thank you

• Iptable Rule to redirect all traffic requesting a specific domain

  I'm on a simple linux proxy. I'd like to add iptable rules to drop all requests for a specific domain. I figured I run a dig command to get the ip addresses for the domain and then add an iptable rule for each one. It seems, however, that it doesn't work to bind to more than one ip address. So, it seems I need to add ip ranges like this... iptables -I FORWARD -p tcp -m iprange --dst-range 66.220.144.0-66.220.159.255 --dport 443 -j DROP That seems to work. However, it has proven pretty problematic to parse the output of dig and correctly create the appropriate iptable rules. Is there a better way? Thanks! EV

• Cannot access apache webserver running on home network from internet.

  I am trying to setup apache web server in my home network. I followed the instructions found at http://www.boutell.com/newfaq/creating/hostmyown.html. I have a d-link dir-601 router with a cable internet connection. I am able to connect to the web server from my LAN using the url pointing to my server's ip 192.168.0.103 in the web browser. but when I am trying to browse the same with my phone on 3G network, I get a message "server cannot be found". My Public IP starts with 61.xx.xxx.xxx and my router has an IP of 192.168.0.1 Could anyone please help me in figuring out the isuue. Thanks in advance.
