• Configuring the iPlanet as web tier for Oracle WebCenter Content (UCM)

  If you are looking for configure the iPlanet as Web server/proxy to use with the Oracle WebCenter Content, you probably won’t found an specific documentation for that or will found some old complex notes related to the old 10gR3. This post will help you out with few simple steps. That’s the diagram of the test scenario, considering that you will deploy in production in an cluster environment. First you need the software, for our scenario you will need: - Oracle iPlanet Web Server 7.0.15+ (Installed) - Oracle WebCenter Content 11gR1 PS5 (Installed) - Oracle WebLogic Web Server Plugins 11g (1.1) - Supported JDK (Using Oracle Java JDK 7u4 for the test) - Certified Client OS - Certified Server OS (Using Oracle Solaris 11 for the test) - Certified Database (Using Oracle Database 11.2.0.3 for the test) Then the configuration: - Download the latest plugin: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/ias/downloads/wls-plugins-096117.html - Extract the WLSPlugin11g-iPlanet7.0 in some folder, like <iPlanet_Home>/plugins/wls11 - Include the plugin reference to the magnus.conf: If Unix (Solaris or Linux), include the line: Init fn="load-modules" shlib="/apps/oracle/WebServer7/plugins/wls11/lib/mod_wl.so" If Windows, Include the line:        Init fn="load-modules" shlib="D:\\oracle\\WebServer7\\plugins\\wls11\\lib\\mod_wl.dll" - Include the proxy reference to the obj.conf of each instance: <Object name="weblogic" ppath="*/cs/*"> Service fn="wl-proxy" WebLogicCluster="wcc-node1:16201,wcc-node2:16202, wcc-node3:16203" </Object>   <Object name="weblogic" ppath="*/_dav/*"> Service fn="wl-proxy" WebLogicCluster="wcc-node1:16201,wcc-node2:16202, wcc-node3:16203" </Object>   <Object name="weblogic" ppath="*/_ocsh/*"> Service fn="wl-proxy" WebLogicCluster="wcc-node1:16201,wcc-node2:16202, wcc-node3:16203" </Object>   <Object name="weblogic" ppath="*/adfAuthentication/*"> Service fn="wl-proxy" WebLogicCluster="wcc-node1:16201,wcc-node2:16202, wcc-node3:16203" </Object> If you are using an single node setup, change the Service fn=…. line to something like: Service fn="wl-proxy" WebLogicHost=<wcc-server> WebLogicPort=16200 With these configurations, your should have the WebCenter Content UI working with the iPlanet, test it. [http://<web-server>/cs/] With the UI working, the last step is to configure the WebDav: - Go to the iPlanet Admin Console (usually https://<web-server>:8989) - Go to Configurations >> [instance] >> Virtual Servers >> [Virtual Server] >> WebDAV: - Click New - Populate the URI with /cs/idcplg/webdav: - Select “Anyone (No Authentication)”, the wc Content will take care of the security: This will allow you to use the WebDav feature and the Desktop Integration Suite, including double-byte characters. • PHP-FPM - Nginx - phpMyAdmin - 502 bad gateway

  I have installed and configured PHP-FPM, Nginx, and then phpMyAdmin. When I access the main site everything works fine but as soon as I go to http://mysite.com/phpmyadmin I get a 502 bad gateway error. When I look in my error logs I see the following error repeated throughout: (111: Connection refused) while connecting to upstream, client: xx.xx.xx.xx Here is my default.conf for nginx: http://pastebin.com/YFEvAw81 I have tried many different configurations that I have found from users that have had the same issue but can't seem to get any of them to work.

• unity-panel apps running in the background

  i noticed that some of my apps are in the background in unity-panel. the apps are vmware-workstation,jupiter, empathy this is what i mean as you can see on the left some of my apps are running but in the background if i didn't set my unity-panel to see-through i wouldn't have noticed it. if i restart my laptop and start empathy it doesn't go in the background and also when i run compiz --replace the apps are back in the foreground this happens a lot when i am working my apps are suddenly in the unity-panel background?

• Elantech multitouch breaks after sleep and unknown events

  EDIT: I previously thought this was related to mouse, but I have been experiencing these issues without a mouse plugged-in during the past weeks. I therefore rewrote the description. The two-finger scrolling on my UX31 works just fine, but sometimes it stops working, the cause is unknown. Multitouch also breaks whenever I go in sleep mode. Logging out and back in fixes the issue, till it happens again (sleep, or the unknown source) Does this sound familiar to anyone here?

  The question is simple. What would be the script I would have to use to shut down a computer in my network thru ssh. Normaly i would go to command line and: ssh desktop delik@desktop's password: delik@desktop:~$ sudo shutdown -P 0 To power on I created a file and wrote: wakeonlan xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx And gave it the executable bit That way to power on it requires only a double click. Would i be capable of doing the same to shutdown?

  I just installed Ubuntu 12.04 and absolutely love it , but when i go to system details it says graphics unknown, is this a problem ? i have a acer aspire 5750, and a Intel 3000 HD graphics card.There also no additional drivers to be installed, but on another computer i needed to install additional drivers and it showed the grapics card. is there a problem with intel graphics in combination with ubuntu ?

• Execution plan warnings–The final chapter

  In my previous posts (here and here), I showed examples of some of the execution plan warnings that have been added to SQL Server 2012.  There is one other warning that is of interest to me : “Unmatched Indexes”. Firstly, how do I know this is the final one ?  The plan is an XML document, right ? So that means that it can have an accompanying XSD.  As an XSD is a schema definition, we can poke around inside it to find interesting things that *could* be in the final XML file. The showplan schema is stored in the folder Microsoft SQL Server\110\Tools\Binn\schemas\sqlserver\2004\07\showplan and by comparing schemas over releases you can get a really good idea of any new functionality that has been added. Here is the section of the Sql Server 2012 showplan schema that has been interesting me so far : <xsd:complexType name="AffectingConvertWarningType"> <xsd:annotation> <xsd:documentation>Warning information for plan-affecting type conversion</xsd:documentation> </xsd:annotation> <xsd:sequence> <!-- Additional information may go here when available --> </xsd:sequence> <xsd:attribute name="ConvertIssue" use="required"> <xsd:simpleType> <xsd:restriction base="xsd:string"> <xsd:enumeration value="Cardinality Estimate" /> <xsd:enumeration value="Seek Plan" /> <!-- to be extended here --> </xsd:restriction> </xsd:simpleType> </xsd:attribute> <xsd:attribute name="Expression" type ="xsd:string" use="required" /></xsd:complexType><xsd:complexType name="WarningsType"> <xsd:annotation> <xsd:documentation>List of all possible iterator or query specific warnings (e.g. hash spilling, no join predicate)</xsd:documentation> </xsd:annotation> <xsd:choice minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="unbounded"> <xsd:element name="ColumnsWithNoStatistics" type="shp:ColumnReferenceListType" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="1" /> <xsd:element name="SpillToTempDb" type="shp:SpillToTempDbType" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" /> <xsd:element name="Wait" type="shp:WaitWarningType" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" /> <xsd:element name="PlanAffectingConvert" type="shp:AffectingConvertWarningType" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded" /> </xsd:choice> <xsd:attribute name="NoJoinPredicate" type="xsd:boolean" use="optional" /> <xsd:attribute name="SpatialGuess" type="xsd:boolean" use="optional" /> <xsd:attribute name="UnmatchedIndexes" type="xsd:boolean" use="optional" /> <xsd:attribute name="FullUpdateForOnlineIndexBuild" type="xsd:boolean" use="optional" /></xsd:complexType> I especially like the “to be extended here” comment,  high hopes that we will see more of these in the future.   So “Unmatched Indexes” was a warning that I couldn’t get and many thanks must go to Fabiano Amorim (b|t) for showing me the way.   Filtered indexes were introduced in Sql Server 2008 and are really useful if you only need to index only a portion of the data within a table.  However,  if your SQL code uses a variable as a predicate on the filtered data that matches the filtered condition, then the filtered index cannot be used as, naturally,  the value in the variable may ( and probably will ) change and therefore will need to read data outside the index.  As an aside,  you could use option(recompile) here , in which case the optimizer will build a plan specific to the variable values and use the filtered index,  but that can bring about other problems.   To demonstrate this warning, we need to generate some test data :   DROP TABLE #TestTab1GOCREATE TABLE #TestTab1 (Col1 Int not null, Col2 Char(7500) not null, Quantity Int not null)GOINSERT INTO #TestTab1 VALUES (1,1,1),(1,2,5),(1,2,10),(1,3,20), (2,1,101),(2,2,105),(2,2,110),(2,3,120)GO and then add a filtered index CREATE INDEX ixFilter ON #TestTab1 (Col1)WHERE Quantity = 122 Now if we execute SELECT COUNT(*) FROM #TestTab1 WHERE Quantity = 122 We will see the filtered index being scanned But if we parameterize the query DECLARE @i INT = 122SELECT COUNT(*) FROM #TestTab1 WHERE Quantity = @i The plan is very different a table scan, as the value of the variable used in the predicate can change at run time, and also we see the familiar warning triangle. If we now look at the properties pane, we will see two pieces of information “Warnings” and “UnmatchedIndexes”. So, handily, we are being told which filtered index is not being used due to parameterization.

• Removing Menu Items from Window Tabs

  So you're working on your NetBeans Platform application and you notice that when you right-click on tabs in the predefined windows, e.g., the Projects window, you see a long list of popup menus. For whatever the reason is, you decide you don't want those popup menus. You right-click the application and go to the Branding dialog. There you uncheck the checkboxes that are unchecked below: As you can see above, you've removed three features, all of them related to closing the windows in your application. Therefore, "Close" and "Close Group" are now gone from the list of popup menus: But that's not enough. You also don't want the popup menus that relate to maximizing and minimizing the predefined windows, so you uncheck those checkboxes that relate to that: And, hey, now they're gone too: Next, you decide to remove the feature for floating, i.e., undocking the windows from the main window: And now they're gone too: However, even when you uncheck all the remaining checkboxes, as shown here... You're still left with those last few pesky popup menu items that just will not go away no matter what you do: The reason for the above? Those actions are hardcoded into the action list, which is a bug. Until it is fixed, here's a handy workaround: Set an implementation dependency on "Core - Windows" (core.window). That is, set a dependency and then specify that it is an implementation dependency, i.e., that you'll be using an internal class, not one of the official APIs. In one of your existing modules, or in a new one, make sure you have (in addition to the above) a dependency on Lookup API and Window System API.   Happy Monday! Does anyone else feel as if the weekend went entirely too quickly? At least for those of us in the United States, we have the 4th of July Holiday next week to look forward to This week on the blog, we are going to focus on "WebCenter by Example" and highlight best practices from customers and partners. I recently came across this article and I think this is a great example of how we can learn from one another when it comes to social collaboration adoption. Do you agree with Jem? What things or best practices have you learned in your organizations?  By Jem Janik, Enterprise community manager, Alcatel-Lucent  Not so long ago, Engage, the Alcatel-Lucent employee social network and collaboration platform, celebrated its third birthday. With more than 25,000 members actively interacting each month, Engage has been a big enough success that it’s been the subject of external articles, and often those of us who helped launch it will go out and speak about what aspects contributed to that success. Hindsight is still 20/20 and what it takes to successfully launch an enterprise 2.0 community is fairly well-known now.  Today I want to tell you what I suspect you really want to know about.  As the enterprise community manager for Engage, after three years in, what are the top 5 things I wish we (and I mostly mean me) could do over? #5 Define your analytics solution from the start There is so much to do when you launch a community and initially growing it without complete chaos is quite a task.  It doesn’t take too long to get to a point where you want to focus your continued efforts in growing company collaboration.  Do people truly talk across regional boundaries or have we shifted siloed conversations to a new platform.  Is there one organization that doesn’t interact with another? If you are lucky you’ll have someone in your community team well versed in the world of databases and SQL queries, but it takes time to figure out what backend analytics data actually means. Professional support can be expensive and it may be hard to justify later as it typically has the community manager as the only main customer.  Figure out what you think you’ll want to know and how to get it early on. The sooner the better even if it doesn’t seem that critical at the time. #4 Lobbies guide you to the right places One piece of feedback that comes up more and more as we keep growing Engage is it’s hard to find stuff, or new people are not sure where to start. Something we’re doing now is defining some general topic areas of interest to be like “lobbies” into the platform and some common hashtags to go with them. I liken this to walking into a large medical or professional building for the first time.  There are hundreds of offices, and you look to a sign in the lobby to get guided to the right place for you.  We’re building that sign for members now, but again we missed the boat as the majority of the company has had their initial Engage experience. #3 Clean up, clean up, clean up Knowledge work and folksonomies are messy! The day we opened the doors to Engage I would have said we should keep everything ever created in Engage with an argument that it was a window into our collective knowledge so nothing should go.  Well, 6000+ groups and 200,000+ pieces of content later, I’ve changed my mind.  As previously mentioned, with too much “stuff” the system can be overwhelming to new members and it makes it harder to get what you’re looking for.   Do we need that help document about a tool we no longer have? NO!  Do we need that group that had 1 document and 2 discussions in the last two years? NO! Should we only have one group about a given topic instead of 4?  YES! Last fall, Engage defined a cleanup process for groups not used for a long time.  We also formed a volunteer cleaning army who are extra eyes on the hunt for “stuff” that should be updated, merged, or deleted.  It’s better late than never, but in line with what’s becoming a theme I wish these efforts had started earlier. #2 Communications & local community management One of the most important aspects of my job is to make sure people who should be talking to each other are actually doing it.  Connecting people to the other people they should know, the groups they should join, a piece of content that shouldn’t be missed.   I have worked both inside and outside of communications teams, and they are the best informed people in your company.  They know when something big is coming, how it impacts employees, how it fits with strategy, who else knows more, etc.  Having communications professionals who are power users can help scale up community management because they are already so well connected.  They also need to have the platform skills to pay attention without suffering email overload, how to grab someone’s attention, etc.  I wish I’d had figured this out much earlier.  If I had I would have groomed more communications colleagues into advocates and power members right at the start. #1 Grooming advocates vs. natural advocates I’ve just alluded to this above already. The very best advocates are those who naturally embrace your platform and automatically start to see new ways to work within it.  Those advocates seem to come out of the woodwork naturally since some of them are early adopters.  Not surprisingly, our best advocates today are those same people who were willing to come kick the tires when the community was completely empty.  Unfortunately, we didn’t get a global spread of those natural advocates.  I did ask around when we first launched for other people who might be good candidates, but didn’t push too hard as there were so many other things to get ready.  That was a mistake.  If I could get a redo I would have formally asked for people to be assigned where there were gaps and groomed them into an advocate.  Today as we find new advocates to fill the gaps, people are hesitant as the initial set has three years of practice are ahead of the curve power members; it definitely would have been easier earlier on. As fairly early adopters to corporate scale enterprise collaboration, there hasn’t been a roadmap to follow as we’ve grown Engage, which is part of the fun! It’s clear a lot of issues are more easily tackled the earlier you identify and begin to correct them, and I’ve identified the main five I wish I could redo.  In the spirit of collaboration, I hope someone else learns from my mistakes! • Automatically change Sound Input Output device

  I have to plugin my USB Audio adapter ( 4300054 Gigawire USB Audio Adapter) for audio input because has a combo-input-output port for voice. After I do this, I have go open Sound Settings and manually select the USB Audio adapter for Input and Output, if I do not, the system default remains selected. Is there anyway, I can make Ubuntu to automatically select the USB Audio Adapter as the default as soon as I plug-in?

• Can somebody help me setting up wxWidgets 3.0 for codeblocks12.11 on ubuntu 12.04?

  I already downloaded and installed codeblocks 12.11svn9156. After that, I downloaded and compiled wxWidgets3.0 using make. When I go to codeblocks I don't see wxWidgets3.0 in the wxWidget project wizard. Also, the wizard prompts me "wxSmith plugin is not loaded, can not continue" I know some additional steps have to be done but I only found some confusing documentation. Thank you very much in advance.

• Reduce weight in healthy way - Day 2

  My second day of reducing weight and it seems most of the blog are correct in saying that you can reduce weight if your calorie consumption is less than what you burn. In one day I have lost 1 lbs without doing anything. My current weight is 177.4 lbs. Yesterday I ate small portion of dinner that I used to eat that also around 7 PM. Normally I eat my dinner around 10 PM and withing 2 hour of eating I go for sleep, but yesterday I ate around 7 PM and went for sleep only after 12.On my second day I have eaten noodles and 3 eggs in breakfast and sesame chicken ( I love it) and fried rice in lunch, I still have not gone for running but had plan to go for running and then swimming. I hope it will at least burn the calories that I had taken. On some site it was written that a normal men body needs around 2000 Calorie a day. So if I am eating less than 2000 calorie ( noodles + 3 eggs = 400+200, rice + sesame chicken = 1300, total = 1900) and burning around 300 calorie, my total calorie intake will be 1600 which is less than what my body needs. So most probably by tomorrow I should come under 176 lb bracket.Apart from counting the calorie that I am taking in everyday and approx number of calorie that I am burning everyday, I had also starting tracking my physical activities on my mobile. I have got a beautiful Samsung Focus S Windows 7.5 mobile. And after browsing through the market I have downloaded couple of health Apps.1. 6 Week training - this has set of exercise and lets you choose the number of sets you want to do for all exercise. Its focus on your core muscles.2. Fast food Calories - This apps has all the fast food chain listed and give the calorie count of each of the food item available on there menu. Like for Burger King's French Fries Large (Salted) contains 500 Calorie.3. Gym Pocket Guide - Contains instructions for different kind of exercise and tells a right way of doing them.4.  RunSat - kind of GPS based application. Its mark the distance you have run, shows the path you have taken on a map, total calorie burnt, laps completed. I love this apps.5. Stop Watch I also have noticed that If I am running in GYM and have television in front of me where a movie or serial is going on which I like,  I normally didn't notice the time. Most of the time running on treadmill is very boring, but if some music video is playing or some kind of sitcom is going, I can run for  a hour or half.So on day 2 I have lost 1 lbs and had learnt that calorie intake should be less then calorie burnt for a given day.

• Ubuntu 12.04.3 Graphics Issues: Broken Pipes, Reinstalled Xorg and Bumblebee

  It seems I have a problem, and am only making it worse by following what I find online. I have a new Asus N550JV-D71 (not sure about the part after the dash, though I definitely know it includes 71). I decided to downgrade Windows 8 to 7, then dual boot Ubuntu 12.04 with it (there were issues with Windows 8, and I had a Windows 7 disk handy). It did work and, after installing Bumblebee in tty (because it wouldn't boot when it was first installed), it worked marvelously for a little less than a week. However, I restarted it last night and got the Could not write bytes: Broken pipes error. (I see it's a very common error, but I've looked at the majority of the suggested Similar Questions already.) I followed what I could find online, followed those instructions (making sure to not install any sort of graphics drivers other than what Bumblebee provides), and it just seems to go further and further downhill. I'm afraid I didn't write the exact steps to get to this point (it was late by the time I gave up the night before), but it involved reinstalling lightdm, xorg (and xserver?), and Bumblebee. I then changed the Bumblebee.conf file so that Device=nvidia. I'm pretty new to Linux in general (I've used it since 10.04, but I hadn't had issues up until this computer, so it let me stay a newbie), so I'm not exactly sure what log files to look at to find the errors to look up. However, I did look at lshw and noticed that displays was marked as unassigned. Also, if I try to start lightdm using the command line, it always stops at Stopping Mount network filesystems. I should note that there isn't an xorg.conf file, and no .Xauthority. I would really, really prefer not to reinstall 12.04 if possible. I managed to get grub to display only a short time ago, and I can't boot to the dvd drive unless I go into the BIOS settings and manually change the boot order (that was an issue from the beginning, before the Ubuntu install), and getting into those settings often means rebooting several times due to the fact that the window to get to it is extremely small. I have most of what I need backed up, however, in case it does get to that point. If I really have to, I can just use the latest Ubuntu version instead of the LTS, but the reason I chose 12.04 in the first place is because I need something stable-ish, and Windows isn't suitable to what I need to do. I should note that the reason I restarted last night in the first place was that it wasn't charging the battery, and the wifi kept on going out. Basically, what I want to know, is of the more popular languages, which ones are meant for high level application development, low level system development, mobile development, web, etc. If there's a good listing out there already, I'm not finding it so far. • Can a registrar outage affect my website?

  If my registrar has an outage and their servers go down for a while, will that affect my website. I'm not using any of my registrar hosting packages or name servers, I simply have a few domain names registered with them that point to my actual hosting provider. Based on my current understanding on how these things work I believe that an outage at my registrar will not affect my websites at all, but I'd like to hear this from someone with more experience in this field.
