  • vista server 2008 web edition cant change permissions

    hi there, Im used to using windows server 2003 but decided to get a Vista web edition for IIS7 and to run our MVC applications on. I have installed copSSH that i use for SFTP, and when i upload my files i am unable to change persmissions or take ownership or anything when logged in as an administrator. when i try to go to permissions i get: The permissions on uploads are incorrectly ordered, which may cause some entries to be ineffective. and all permissions are the grayed out. i have tried to use icacls to reset ownership and also tried to give myself full control through icacls however all attempts are met with a access is denied message and failed processing 669 files. all i wish to do is set up write and delete permissions on an upload folder for a CMS systems admin area, but i am a week into looking into this and i am still no wiser. Please could someone give some sound advice so i can get this running smooth thanks p.s i have added the copSSH notes as i think that when i SFTP the files to the server, this may somehow have some involvement in messing up permissions

  • Wordpress: Problem installing on dedicated windows server 2008/IIS7

    I'm having trouble with installing Wordpress on a dedicated Microsoft Windows Web Server 2008 R2. I've installed Wordpress Version 2.9.2 from Web platform installer 3.0. After installation when I try to access wordpress, either from ~/index.php or ~/wp-admin/install.php I get the error: HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error File monitoring is enabled for a file which could not be found Modul: FastCgiModule Notification: ExecuteRequestHandler Handler: PHP52_via_FastCGI Error Code: 0x80070003 I have both .Net 2.0 and .Net 4.0 installed. Adding a "phpinfo.php" gives me the same error. The application pool in IIS7 that's used for the website is: "No Managed Code" and set to "Integrated" in "Managed Pipeline Mode". I've tried to reboot the machine. What's more can I try?

  • Ping, firewall or DNS problem on Win Server 2008 R2

    Hi there, I've installed windows server 2008 as a VM for the developers here to work on. Installed SQL Server 2008 as well as IIS7. I am not quite sure why, I can remote into that machine using the name I gave to it (winserverdev) but the guys that are supposed to use the bloody thing can't. One very interesting thing is that I can connect but I can't ping... not the name nor the IP address. Is there anything that I should be looking in order to make it work? Any ideas are welcome.     We have just deployed a Windows 2008R2 server in our Windows 2003 domain. XP clinets are unable to browse in "entire network" and find the new server. It can be accessed by entering \\servername and it can be pinged by name and IP address. Users access shares without issue. Netbios over TCP/IP is enabled. Computer browser is running on the Windows 2008R2 system. Turn on Network Discovery is enabled.   • How to enable "Sleep" for Windows 2012 server

    I recently installed Windows Server 2012. This will serve as the dev-instance for our engineers and will be accessed in multiple time zones. I therefore plan to run this 24x7 but want to conserve energy by going to sleep mode when not in use & enable Wake-On-Magic-Packet. Based on the previous post it appears that there is no option to sleep Win Server 2012 with Hyper-V. Since I don't care much about virtualization now, I uninstalled Hyper-V. In addition to this, I have done the following 1) Ran powercfg -a. Don't find sleep. 2) Added [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\hvboot] "Start"=dword:00000003 to try gaining sleep - no luck! 3) Only see Shutdown and Restart in power options.     I am currently using GNU Emacs 23.0.93.1 in Windows Vista SP1. In my .emacs file I make a call to (server-start) and that is causing an error with the message The directory ~/.emacs.d/server is unsafe.   • SMTP server on Win2008, SPF ecc

    I want be able to send outgoing email from my website. I want to setup Win2008 smtp to be able to send them respecting all the spam rules. My checklist is: the smtp should be able to accept outgoing email only from internal sites: I will limit it to relay only 127.0.0.1 is this correct? it should have set SPF, DKIM and all the policy avaiable to not be marked as spam: how you would configure it for the internal SMTP? Should I use another kind of server like hMail server? I should be able to send like 30 email from each user session on the website without obliging the user to wait that the email is effectivly sent (I thought to save it on a folder and then use a batch to send them asynchronously). What are my options? What other steps would you add to be sure that the outgoing email is not marked as spam?

  • SMTP server (IIS) is running but can't test it with telnet

    I have a Windows 2003 web edition server that I can't seem to get the SMTP relay working. BT4 shows port 25 open. When I try use telnet to test it on my desktop I get: Connecting To XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX...Could not open connection to the host, on port 25: Connect failed. From the server I get: Microsoft Telnet> o 127.0.0.1 25 Connecting To 127.0.0.1... Connection to host lost. There isn't anything useful in the logs. Any ideas?

  • How do I configure the number of worker threads used by SqlServer 2005 Agent

    How can I increase the limit of worker threads from the default 10 for SQL Server 2005 SqlAgent? I have 9 jobs that run almost continuously and that leaves only one available thread for the rest of the scheduled jobs. Oftentimes, when no thread is available, I will see the jobs in "Waiting for worker thread" state. I'd like to increase the number to about 12 (which should do the trick for me). Any idea where this is set?

  • Unable to authenticate Windows XP clients agains Snow Leopard Server PDC after 10.6.2 upgrade

    I have setup a Snow Leopard Server 10.6.1 as a PDC without problems to authenticate Windows XP clients. Joining a Windows XP client to the SLS PDC Domain and log in from a Windows XP client to the SLS PDC Domain are working. After the update to Snow Leopard Server 10.6.2 the authentication is broken. opendirectory_smb_pwd_check_ntlmv1 gave -14090 [eDSAuthFailed] By changing the Windows XP "Network security: LAN Manager authentication level" policy to NTVLM2 responses only the authentication agains a SMB share is possible, but trying to join SLS PDC Domain is still not possible. opendirectory_smb_pwd_check_ntlmv2 gave -14090 [eDSAuthFailed] Any ideas? Is anyone else having similar authentication difficulties?

  • Ubuntu web server 11.10 ftp/server issue

    I was wondering if I could get some help with FTP, atleast I'm pretty sure it has to do with FTP. Although it could have to do with something else, I'm not 100% sure.. Now, for fare warning, I'm no ubuntu dominator, I'm pretty newb. Anyway, I've attempted to build a webserver to to test php and what not for a site I'm building. Now everything works, the php, the sql etc. By the way, I built this in VMware, so it's virtual, over a network, so I can access stuff from anywhere. I'm in a college right now so yeah. The one problem I have is this. I go into the terminal, and do ifconfig to find my IP. I get it and go to a browser on a different machine and type that IP in. I get the "index of/" page, where I can browse the website I'm making. I can click through folders and what not. I can click on things and they open up. Now lets say I'm working on my desktop and open up an FTP and drag and drop something into there, go to the IP in the browser again and try to open it. I either get "Server error The website encountered an error while retrieving http://my_server_ip/phpinfo.php. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly. Here are some suggestions: Reload this webpage later." or "Forbidden You don't have permission to access /html.html on this server." But, lets say I make it on the server itself, and try, bam, magic it works. I'm sure I set the permissions to let everyone open and view the files, but maybe I didn't? I'm not sure, and this is where I was hoping I could get some help. By the way, I followed a tutorial on changing the www folder (apache) from /var/www to home/"user"/www. I can't recall how I did that, but it's there and my ftp goes to the home/"user"/www folder. But yeah, any and all help is appreciated. Like I said, I'm really new to this, but I do enjoy attempting to make these servers and learning how they work, so it's not like making this webserver is a project for a class, It's just assisting me in testing stuff for another class and possibly other websites later on down the road. Anyway, anyone who decides to help, thanks so much, I'd really appreciate it. Nate. P.S. I'm using Ubuntu 11.10 desktop edition with a LAMP server

    I have a host machine (win server 2008 R2) with several Hyper-V virtual machines. I want to be able to redirect certain ports of host to virtual machines. There is virtual network connection between host and virtual machines (192.168.10.xxx). Host is also attached to external network (10.10.10.123). Virtual machines have several other networks between them. E.g., I want to be able to redirect traffic from 10.10.10.123 12345 to 192.168.10.321 54321 I tried RRAS in windows server but for it to work Default gateway to 10.10.10.123 has to be set in virtual machines. Virtual machines can not be on external network.

    This little question is part of a much larger issue I am trying to resolve: Does SQLCMD require a separate install or is it included with the Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Native Client (which I just installed on my webserver). Maybe this is just an incorrect path issue. Here is what I tried: C:\>sqlcmd -S tcp:devmojito\mssqlserver2008,1433 'sqlcmd' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. C:\> This same syntax works when executed from the c drive on my SQL Server machine.

  • PPTP network for server backend LAN?

    Here is our problem: We have several webservers, which should be reached from public. The database servers that store the data for the web apps on those webservers though shall not have a public IP. So, since I want to be able to connect to the SQL servers using ssh for example, and those servers need to talk with each other, I had this idea: Internet | ------------------ | | Webserver 1 Webserver 2 Database Server | | | -------------- vLAN -------------- | PPTP | Workstation (my PC) My idea was that I can connect to the vLAN using PPTP so that I have access to all servers in that LAN, but the database server remains unvisible to the public. Is this infrastructure a good idea?

  • Setting up kerberos for SQL Server 2008 R2 not taking effect

    I am trying to configure Kerberos for my SQL Server (the database engine domain account). I have executed the following command: SETSPN -A MSSQLSvc/MyDBServer:1433 MyDomain\SQLServerService Replacing MyDBServer with the FQDN of the server and replacing MyDomain\SQLServerService with the name of my account. I then ran the query: SELECT s.session_id , c.connect_time , s.login_time , s.login_name , c.protocol_type , c.auth_scheme , s.HOST_NAME , s.program_name FROM sys.dm_exec_sessions s JOIN sys.dm_exec_connections c ON s.session_id = c.session_id This returns NTLM. So it's not Kerberos. What am I mising? The delegation tab is available for the account, so the spn bit worked perfectly fine. Is it not required to set some settings in the delegation tab? I've seen this in the case of setting kerberos for Sharepoint 2010 (which I intend to setup). Thanks

    Hello everyone, I am using SharePoint Server 2007 x64 and Windows Server 2008 x64. I have setup a site with template publishing portal. I have grant anonymous access to all the site. My question is, if I create a new page, how to grant permission to anonymous user to access (read permission) the page? I got this confusion because, for the permission setting of a page, a permission is set according to a user name (e.g. read permission for user "foo" of a page). Since anonymous user does not have a related "user name", how could I grant read permission to anonymous user? BTW: I use Windows Forms authentication and Windows NTLM authentication for my sites. And there are about 500 users connecting to 1C server to perform their tasks. 1C and SQL 2008 are on separate servers. How to configure MS SQL 2008 R2 to effectively use parallelization in this configuration? We have 24 cores, and only one is loaded at 100% at MS SQL 2008 R2 server.   • How to get diagnostic information on a failing Windows Server 2012 install

    I am trying to install a copy of Windows Server 2012 on two machines. Both machines go through the initial "Files loading" progress bar and get to the new Windows Server 2012 logo. However, the installation (on both machines) will immediately fail, and the machine will restart. I am trying to figure out if there's a way to display diagnostic information about the error before or after restarting, but Google is not helping me at all. Is there a key combination I can hit that will display an error log, perhaps?

    A piece of software that we use at our office has recently moved to a new licensing system. This means that from now on a new set of license key files will need to be distributed to each of our 25 client installations every year. All of the clients run XP and are part of an AD domain controlled by a Windows 2003 DC. I'm already using group policies to deploy software updates. I gather that this is possible with Group Policy Preferences in Server 2008. I'm just looking for a good method using Server 2003. The same set of files need copying to each client. I also have them hosted on a network share accessible by each client. I'm more of a *nix person, so I'm not particularly up on scripting in a Windows environment.

    I have an old server lying around and I am thinking of using it as an internal telephone server. Its main use would be to set up a 1 to 1 telephone system that could be used internally to connect to different users in different offices. I have looked at software like Asterisk, but it seems that this is mainly for external telephone systems. Is this possible to do with Asterisk (or other software) or is this not possible without involving a VOIP company?
