Is there a way to use the built-in windows file compression tool in command line? Instead of RightClick/Send To/Compress (Zipped) Folder.
Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition
Thanks!
I have to normalize volume level of some speech recording. But every recording seems to be at difference volume level. Is there any tool that can get some statistics of volume level? So I know how much dB I have to increase/decrease during normalization. Thanks.
I am looking for an alternative to Softerra's LDAP Administrator, simply for the price is over-budget for a small team to test the LDAP credentials.
So I really appreciate if someone can point me to some other alternatives for a Windows-based environment. We've got our Active Directory setup already, I only need a tool to confirm the access as a proof to customers. Sorry I am not a security guru, I am quite the opposite...
Thanks for any suggestion in advance!
I have been searching for a way, script, rain dance, to automate the deployment of several BESR 8.5 created images (v2i file extension). Does anyone have any experience on how to pull this off?
I have tried Ghost Solution Suite 2.5, but it doesn't seem to work with images that are password protected.
Any help, tool, 3rd party program, etc, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Does anyone know if the Acer Ferrari One supports hardware assisted virtualization (it should easy to find out by running Microsoft's Hardware-Assisted Virtualization Detection Tool on that machine).
There is lot's of speculation around the web, but I haven't found a definitive answer yet (and would like to confirm that this feature will be working before buying one).
I use the following commands
pdf2ps input.pdf - | psnup -pA4 -4 >> output.ps
ps2pdf output.ps output.pdf
rm output.ps
to merge multiple pages (in this case 4) from input file to one sheet in outupt file.
How can I modify pipelining so that I won't have to use 2 commands, but just a single one liner? Is there any other commandline tool that would do the same and can work directly on pdf files?
Hi there,
I've got some movies which should be used for tutorial aspects. Problem: the shown stuff is too fast, I need to slow down the movies.
Does anyone know a tool / programm which can do this? The movies are in mp4 format.
Sometimes I want to watch soccer video content on British websites, but they're blocked due to geographic restrictions (I live in the US). Is there a tool or something that I can use to get around this?
I assume the block is ip based.
I have ~160 MS Word files that contain structured data. The data is formatted identically across all files and resides in a tabular format.
I'd like to extract the data into a database, XML or just an aggregate table without opening each of the files independently.
Is there a tool or method I can use to extract this data?
I've created a configuration profile but I cannot sign it using the utility v3.3. I registered an email certificate but the utility does not pick it up. Unfortunately, I've found the documentation for this tool lacking and I cannot find out how to do this properly.
Can someone tell me what kind of certificate I need and how I need to install it in order for the utility to let me sign the profiles?
Hi,
I'm looking for a solution that'll automatically sync file system changes in "/folder1" to "/folder2". Any change should be synced (deleted files, new folders etc.) without any confirmation. Preferably the changes will happen to "/folder2" instantly.
"/folder1" is on my hdd
"/folder2" is on a server on the LAN (can be accessed via SSH or NFS)
I'm on OS X 10.6.
I can't seem to find just the right tool. Does anyone
hi,
i have windows xp installed. Recently i installed suse linux and afterwhich suse linux is the main OS to be booted up. However suse rovide options to boot windows 1 (window xp) during boot up.
If i uninstall suse linux (i've tried), windows won't be able to be booted up as the grub master boot will be corrupted.
my question is: is there a software tool which can be booted on cd to modify the master boot record so as to reduce much effort??

Hello,
Several server accounts where I run some scripts to extract data from databases have very limited tools available and on some of them you are not allowed (even by formal request) to use cron, than been said, can you recommend any tool(s) I can use to schedule the execution of the scripts (just like cron does)?
Thanks ins advance :)

Is it possible to export all the data inside openldap for example using ldapsearch or some other tool to a (ldif?) file and then import everything on another server and put this in a script that would be run every day. So that I could use the other one as a backup when the first/master server is not available?
I have full access to the first/master server, but I can't modify it's configuration so I think I can't set up replication.
I believe every system administrator is used to open source by now. From Apache to Firefox or Linux, everyone uses it at least a little bit.
However, most open source developers are not good in marketing, so I know that there are hundreds of very good tools out there that very few people know.
To fill this gap, share your favorite open source tool that you use in your day-to-day work that is not very famous.
*I will post mine in the comments.
As developers we sometimes need querying LDAP. Do you know useful tools for this task?
edit: I don't mean in code, I mean utility/tool (command-line or gui, mostly gui) for just to look/confirm data, or if possible to alter...
Hi!
I accidentally deleted a volume in windows disk management. Is there an easy way to undo that action? Or do I have to use a file recovery tool?
Thanks a lot!
On Linux, we can simply do:
cp -pr directory
How to do that in Windows? Can it be done in Windows Explorer? Any GUI tool suggestions?
It would be the best if I can keep the NTFS permissions and creation/modification/access time. At a minimum, I need to preserve the modification date for the files and the directories. Windows Explorer's copy does not preserve the modification date for directories.
OS: Windows XP SP3
Is there tool that can get the selected file full path (like c:\PathToFile\target.file) to clipboard? And which be added to windows file context menu. So that can get path by right click on the file. Thanks.
Hello everybody,
is there any utility to limit the network throughput of a process after it has been launched ? Simple example: you note that a user takes all your upload bandwidth using scp and you'd like to limit the rate or decrease the priority of the transfer.
I guess i could use a combination of iptables/tc or pf to achieve that, but i was wondering if there is a "one-shot" tool available (like tickle with a --pid option ^^) ?
Regards,
Jean-Baptiste
