• Create xml file based on xPath from Excel with VBA

  I've found some items that seem to dance around what I'm looking to do. I'm not a full-fledged programmer, but have been creating my own macros in Excel. I'm trying to create one now that will help me create the structure of an XML file. I want to go down the list of XPaths, and for each one create any parents in the path as needed as well as the child and its value. I'll be adding another aspect to filter it to the fields I want, but the part I'm struggling with is the logic to check if each parent node exists, create it if needed, then add the child and its value. Bonus would be if the output file were formatted with each node on a new line, and more so if it child nodes were indented from parent, but just creating it is my primary concern. Any help would be much appreciated, this has to potential to save me a lot of time.

• how to generate XML (in String representation) in java

  I have defined a java class, but only need to output some of the fields of this class into an XML. The returned type must be a String. I first opted for the easiest way using a StringBuffer. However, when I tried to process the output String represenation, it failed. I think it is mostly likely because there are some characters that are not encoded in the UTF-8 in the input. Could someone tell me what is the best way to handle this? Thanks.

  I am creating a multi user android application and it is connected to a php web service in a remote server and to a remote database via that web service. I want to keep a track of all the important activities done by the users. For an example if a user logged in to the app and changed his profile details and then logged out, a brief description of what he has done should be recorded(with time) somewhere. So then the admin of the system can see what the users are doing. So I think it is better to use log cat files and then flush all those data to a unique file in the server or a table in the database, when the user logs out or exists from his account. If it is appropriate How to do it?

  I'm interested in android activity lifecycle and I would like to get more detailed description/documentation/reference than widely available basic (onCreate-onStart-onResume) one. My need comes from realizing that starting new activity (Theme.Dialog styled) from onAttachedToWindow() greatly improves response time if comparing to starting it from onCreate(). I wonder how this onAttachedToWindow() fits into whole android activity lifecycle. Official API ref description "Called when the window has been attached to the window manager" doesn't help a lot.

Anyway... I'm writing a microblog client for Android to go along with my Windows client (MahTweets). At the moment I've got Tweets coming and going without fail, the problem is with the UI.   I have an existing class (I didn't write) that implements IXmlSerializable. I decided to create a WCF service so my Silverlight application could access this class. I return the class as List. In the generated proxy, instead of an ObservableCollection like I'm expecting, I get ArrayOfXElement[]. If I remove the IXmlSerializable attribute, I get an the ObservableCollection. I don't quite understand what is happening, but I just want my SL app to receive an ObservableCollection. Is my only choice to create a DTO class and send back a list of those? Any advice?

(http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2556389/android-camera-functionality-howto) I traced that one down and the sample was working for a while. Now, it no longer works.   Please consider the following Amount value type property which is marked as a nullable XmlElement: [XmlElement(IsNullable=true)] public double? Amount { get ; set ; } When a nullable value type is set to null, the C# XmlSerializer result looks like the following: <amount xsi:nil="true" /> Rather than emitting this element, I would like the XmlSerializer to suppress the element completely. Why? We're using Authorize.NET for online payments and Authorize.NET rejects the request if this null element exists. The current solution/workaround is to not serialize the Amount value type property at all. Instead we have created a complementary property, SerializableAmount, which is based on Amount and is serialized instead. Since SerializableAmount is of type String, which like reference types are suppressed by the XmlSerializer if null by default, everything works great. /// <summary> /// Gets or sets the amount. /// </summary> [XmlIgnore] public double?
