SRSS Client Print Module must be downloaded every use

I am currently having an issue with SQL Server Reporting Services. Everytime a user clicks the print button for the report, the user must install the ActiveX client print module. The issue is that our clients are not admins on their computers. So therefore they can not install the module. I have gotten around this roughly by adding the SQL address to trust sites, setting "Download signed Active Controls" to enable, and then giving the users permission to write to "C:\Windows\Downloaded Program Files". However, this is fix is not easy to distrubute to our user base. I am using SQL Server 2008 SP3 CU3 running on Server 2008 R2. I believe the browser thinks the version is newer than what is on the server. I have tried downloading the print module CAB file from the SQL server and installing manually. That did not work either. My question is if selinux is in permissive mode will selinuxtype=targeted enforce any polices? if not how did it solve the problem with apache as selinux was already in permissive mode?

Alsa hardware volume with PulseAudio

Before installing pulseaudio, I was able to control volume for the front (meaning on the front panel, the "headphone" jack) and rear (meaning on the back panel, the "line out" jack) separately. When I installed pulseaudio, it became possible to control volume for each playing process separately, but the individual controls for outputs disappeared. While the default device in alsa now routes via pulseaudio, the sysdefault device provides access to the hardware. But kmix does not seem to let me show them now. Is there any way to beat kmix into showing the sysdefault device too? Or something else X-based that would not fight with kmix too much? The system is Debian Jessie (testing) amd64, updated, KDE version 4:4.13.3-1.

Error using Session in IIS7

After deployment of my website to IIS I'm getting a following error message when trying to access session: Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. Please also make sure that System.Web.SessionStateModule or a custom session state module is included in the \\ section in the application configuration. I access it in Page_Load or PreRender events (I tried both versions). With VS Dev Server it works without a problem. I tried both InProc an SessionState storage, 1 and multiple woker processes. I added a enableSessionState = "true" to my webpage explicitly. Java works under Firefox but crashes Internet Explorer

Java works under Firefox and Chrome but not under IE. Here's what I tried (the advice normally given on forums): Java applet activated in tools - internet options - security tab - personnalise - Java applets Activated in tools - manage add-ons - tool bars and extensions - Java (tm) SSV2 helper - Activate Activated in tools - internet options - advanced tab - Use JRE for applet I've also deleted my temporary internet files (with Ccleaner), Reinstalled IE8 It is also set as the default Java for IE through the control panel - Java - Advanced tab - default Java for browsers - Microsoft Internet Explorer IE version: 8.0.6001.18702 Java version: 1.7.0_03. (also tried with 1.6.0_31) Windows XP SP3. Any advice? Thanks :) edit: I have activated the ActiveX controls through manage add-ons - all add-ons but now, although the coffe cup loading screen appears (which did not before) it makes IE crash (which is new). I might have fiddled too much with the registry by trying to completely remove Java to reinstall it, so I ran "rereg" (a tool to repair dlls and their registry entries) without success.

open_basedir problems with APC and Symfony2

I'm currently setting up a shared staging environment for one of our applications, written in PHP5.3 and using the Symfony2 framework. If I only host a single instance of the application per server, everything works as it should. I initially believed this was related to a Symfony2 error, but I've now tracked it down to an issue with APC; disabling APC also solves the error, but I'm concerned about the performance impact of doing so. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I might be able to do?

Compiling PHP with GD and libjpeg support

I compile my own PHP, partly to learn more about how PHP is put together, and partly because I'm always finding I need modules that aren't available by default, and this way I have control over that. My problem is that I can't get JPEG support in PHP. Using CentOS 5.6. Here are my configuration options when compiling PHP 5.3.8: './configure' '--enable-fpm' '--enable-mbstring' '--with-mysql' '--with-mysqli' '--with-gd' '--with-curl' '--with-mcrypt' '--with-zlib' '--with-pear' '--with-gmp' '--with-xsl' '--enable-zip' '--disable-fileinfo' '--with-jpeg-dir=/usr/lib/' The ./configure output says: checking for GD support... yes checking for the location of libjpeg... no checking for the location of libpng... no checking for the location of libXpm... no And then we can see that GD is installed, but that JPEG support isn't there: # php -r 'print_r(gd_info());' Array ( [GD Version] => bundled (2.0.34 compatible) [FreeType Support] => [T1Lib Support] => [GIF Read Support] => 1 [GIF Create Support] => 1 [JPEG Support] => [PNG Support] => 1 [WBMP Support] => 1 [XPM Support] => [XBM Support] => 1 [JIS-mapped Japanese Font Support] => ) I know that PHP needs to be able to find libjpeg, and it obviously can't find a version it's happy with. I would have thought /usr/lib/libjpeg.so or /usr/lib/libjpeg.so.62 would be what it needs, but I supplied it with the correct lib directory (--with-jpeg-dir=/usr/lib/) and it doesn't pick them up so I guess they can't be the right versions. rpm says libjpeg is installed. Should I yum remove and reinstall it, and all it's dependent packages? Might that fix the problem? How to make VLC show single FLAC file containing many tracks as separate tracks

I have a single .flac file that encompasses multiple tracks comprising a music album along with the corresponding .cue file. I'm running Ubuntu 10.04 with VLC player, and am trying to get VLC player to show the individual tracks and allow me to use the previous and next controls to move back and forth between tracks. The problem I'm having is that when I open the single .flac file with VLC, it just shows a single track the duration of the entire album, and I'm unable to skip back and forth between tracks. Is there any way to have VLC show the individual tracks contained within a .flac file without having to pre-split the .flac file into individual track files first?

Is there a way to change the date format used when InfoPath saves the form data to xml?

I have an InfoPath Form template that has some Date Picker controls in it bound to elements in an xml data source. I know I can change the display format of the date by going into the Date Picker Properties and setting the date format. This foramt is only used for display puposes when the form is being filled out. When the form is saved as an xml file the date is always stored in the format YYYY-MM-DD. Is there a way to change the date format that gets serialized to xml? I'm using InfoPath 2007.

Help Repainting a Line

Create Virtual Image of Laptop before Formatting

I have a 3 year old laptop running Windows XP that I used for business. Although I have not used the laptop in over a year, I now want to re-commission it with Windows 7 and a fresh install. Before I do the fresh install I want to create a Virtual Image of the laptop that I can keep and potentially run on my desktop machine should I ever need to access any of the old files/projects that it contains currently. I know that most people will say just copy the files over to your desktop, but my concern is the configuration of the laptop. I used to use it for development and it has older versions of Visual Studio, SQL Server, Active X controls etc, etc than I currently use so I really want to preserve the environment not just the files. So really I am asking what is the best tool-set/method to achieve this? I understand there are free VM tools available but I have never done this before and would appreciate any help.

How do I disable alert beeps

My HP pavilion laptop is getting pretty old and the speakers no longer work properly. So I've disabled all audio devices, including disabling the light-touch volume controls at boot-up. The one sound still here that I can't get rid of is teh alert beep whenever there's an error. It's annoying at the best of times, but when your laptop has no other sounds at all it's intensly irritating! Nothing I change in the windows settings or in the BIOS seems to have any effect. Any ideas how to switch them off?

Bootcamp's "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys" switches back automatically

I use Windows 7 in a Bootcamp partition on my iMac. I always check the option "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as standard function keys", and when it's checked, everything works great. But recently, something switches this setting back to 'unchecked' every few minutes. I constantly have to open the Boot Camp Control Panel, uncheck the checkbox, check it again and click on 'Apply'. And five minutes later, the F2 key again controls the brightness of the screen and not the renaming of files in Explorer. This is driving me mad. What could be the cause of this? Is there a keystroke to switch this feature?

.htaccess redirect to error page if port is not 80

I'm running a portable server through usb stick. The thing is I also have WAMP installed in my local machine and Apache somehow gets started on windows startup, because of some random reason which I don't recall now and it can't be changed. I want to prepare my portable server in situations like this, so closing httpd.exe from process and starting my portable server is not an option. Anyway, because of already active httpd.exe my portable server's WordPress site can only be accessed through localhost:81 - this is a problem as WP site is very dependent on the URL and I don't want to include the url with port on WP database. Here is what I want to do through .htaccess: On any path except for error.php file check if not port 80 If not port 80 redirect to /error.php?code=port It it possible for it to have priority over WP redirection or URL handling? In the error.php I provided info on how to manually close httpd.exe and such so my family and friends can access the portable site. It's sort of like a gallery and calender application for events and other such stuff... Please help? I'm I can't figure it out at all. I know others may not have apache already running, but I want to prepare for such a situation. I'm looking for an online ASP.NET tutor.

$15/hr. I know it's not much but... Hi. I'm looking for an ASP.NET tutor. I want to use a remote desktop application so we can see each others screens and use Skype or phone to communicate with. You won't need to come up with any lessons or anything like that. I was thinking we could spend an hour or two each time we logged in to build a decent sized website from scratch. That's basically it. I'm a beginner with about 2 months experience with ASP.NET so we won't have to start from the very beginning, but pretty close. I wanted this site to have a little complexity to it and not just a website for beginners, but something I could study for a while. I'll pay you through PayPal or some other method if you prefer. By the way, it doesn't have to be a website that we work on together. I'll listen to other suggestions too. Maybe we could use an open source site/app to walk-through and study and modify. I've looked at 'My Web Pages Starter Kit 1.30', 'SubText 2.1.2', 'nopCommerce 1.5', and some others. They were all beyond me, and I couldn't make sense of any of the source code. But if you use and are really familiar with an open source app/site that I can download, we could study that. Here are some technical specs about the site I'd like to build/study: ASP.NET 2.0+ (preferably 3.5+, but I don't really care) C# / VB.NET ( don't really care, I suck at both. This is more about ASP.NET and helping me understand the structure of an ASP.NET website and the .NET framework in general. ) SQL Server ( I have SQL Server 2008 express and would someday like to learn how to use this thing. ) JavaScript / AJAX ( at least some use of this ) XML ( basically, I'd like to spend some time in the web.config file, and have some sense of what's going on in there. ) ASP.NET Folders ( I'd like to work with all of the ASP.NET folders if possible: App_Code, App_GlobalResources, etc.. and understand what does/doesn't go in them. Hopefully we can build more than one theme too. ) Assemblies ( how do you create a .dll and use it across different websites? maybe you could suggest a third party .dll that we could use ) Web Service ( I read about this once but didn't really get it ) I can't think of anything else but the above will definitely keep me busy. Hopefully we could make use of a lot of the server controls too (the nav controls gave me a headache when I tried customizing them). Is someone willing to help? A different interface for the Sql Server Reporting Service?

I have a SQL Server 2005 SQL Reporting Services implementation. It seems that the only way to actually access the reports is for the users to use Internet Explorer. The web page uses an ActiveX control to do its printing (and probably other functions as well). Does SSRS have a different way to access its functionality via the web browser? Like maybe Java or HTML based? If so, how do I actually turn it on? The reason I am asking is because the security is being tightened and ActiveX controls will be banished, thus the users won't be able to print.

How to control the time before Windows 7 wakes from standby and hibernates?

Ever since I reformatted my laptop, it just hasn't been the same. Before reformatting I noticed that if it was in standby for around 24 hours, it would automatically wake up and go into hibernation. I think that's a pretty cool feature and I didn't mind it. But lately, it's been waiting only a few hours (maybe 3-6; I haven't really timed it or paid enough attention) before waking up from standby and going into hibernation. There have been a few instances where this has been bothersome, and I'd like to change it back to a nice long wait time. Where is this setting? What setting in Windows controls the time before the computer wakes up from standby and goes into hibernation?

Option do not show schema names in SQL Server Management Studio

I love the fact that tree and list controls in Windows allows incremental searches. Just select a starting point, and type, and the control will select the best matching node for you. This works in SSMS, but there's an annoying problem, especially so in the table node. SSMS prefixes all table names with the schema name and a dot. To make an incremental search here, I have to type 'dbo.', followed by whatever I'm searching for. Is there an option to turn off this table name representation in SSMS? I hope I'm asking this on the right stack exchange site. If you feel it's off base, let me know!

"Security Warning" comes up when I run via another program

If I execute vmmap from the command line it works fine. However, if I call some other program and pass vmmap as a paramater for this other program to start the execution, then I get this "security error" popup -- which makes it hard to automate scripts. In other words, I want to wrap vmmap via another program. In my case, I want to wrap vmmap via another program because whenever vmmap runs, it will bring a window up momentarily and then disappear. So I try passing vmmap as an argument to another program which will start the program "headlessly". I tried this program and this program, and in both cases I get the same popup which defeats the purpose of automation. Why does this happen when the program isn't run directly? Does anyone know the internals of what this warning is? And, utlimately, is there a way to stop this from happening, but only for this instance? I don't want to disable this warning-system on my whole computer. EDIT: I am using Windows Server 2003, and I don't necessarily need solutions for other platforms, but I would like to know what they are if they are platform-dependent solutions.

How to pxe boot MS DOS 7.x / 8.x on a modern pc (mainboard without floppy controller) without using an external usb floppy drive? MS DOS 6.22 and earlier or other flavors pxe boot just fine on floppy-less hardware. But DOS 7.x and 8.x renders an error on boot: "Type the name of the Command Interpreter (e.g., C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND.COM) I read somewhere during research this was a rather unknown error, that started to become more common due to the advent of floppy-controller-less hardware. On some hardware (bios dependent) one could plug a usb-floppy-drive in the computer before booting (but that MIGHT also require it to be a "golden floppy drive" (as they where called back then). From a russian site (I read about a year ago and cannot find the hyperlink) MS-Dos versions 6.22 did some-kind of floppy-drive reset during initialization and since it couldn't connect to the floppy-host thus the error. How can I resolve this (without a physical external usb floppy)? Might there be some kind of virtual floppy-driver that could resolve this (for example to be loaded before the dos image loads)? Or could someone point me into the right direction (maybe even a hex-address and some further explanation or something)? I'm using syslinux by the way.

How can I get black window borders in Windows 8?

In Windows 8, when I go into Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Personalization\Window Color and Appearance the amount of control over window colors is greatly reduced as compared to Windows 7. The color controls do not allow you to make Window borders display in black. Is there some other way to set the window border color in Windows 8? Edit 1: Clearly the standard way does not work in Windows 8. The question is, is there another way? Perhaps through the registry for example? Edit 2: I tried copying the values in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM from my Win7 system to the Win8 system without success (killing the 2 DWM processes after each change - they are automatically restarted and do use the new values).
