• How can I get jQuery $('.class', context) to include context itself if it matches .class?

  I want to be able to match against all elements in a given context including the context element itself. Here is the code I'm using currently, but it seems inefficient. Is there a better way? Note: I'm using jQ 1.3.2, but I'll upgrade soon so I'm interested in 1.4 solutions too. var context = $('#id'); var filters = '.class1, .class2'; // take context itself if it matches filters $(context).filter(filters) // add anything matching filters inside context .add($(filters, context)) Note: .add($(f,c)) works in jQ 1.3 as .add(f,c) in jQ 1.4

• iBatis mapping: map a string field into a List<String>

  Hi all, is it possible to map a string field with a particular format like: aaa,bbb,ccc,ddd into a List having elements [aaa, bbb, ccc, ddd] using iBatis? What I need is to have in my model something like: public class Request{ private List<String> fieldOne; public List<String> getFieldOne(){....} public void setFieldOne(){....} } even if in my table the field is a simple string.   New to objective-c xcode and core-data so sorry for the remedial question. I have set up a very simple data model: Entity1 and Entity2, both contain a single attribute (String) and a one-to-many relationship with the other. I want to scan Entity1 and depending on the results of the scan create one or more Entity2 objects that link to Entity1. How can I do this? I don’t understand how I create Entity2 type objects in code and how I would define the relationship to the Entity1 object they are related to. I come from a SQL programming background where inserting elements into the Entity2 table with the ID of the related Entiry1 entry is easy. I can’t get my head around the xcode core-data abstraction and would appreciate any help.

• Javascript: variable in outer function not changed by inner function

  I am having a small issue with what I believe is probably my misunderstanding of Javascript closures. I have this piece of code -- getStdOpts: function(tbl, filt) { var vals = new Array(); this.srvs.getStdOptions( { tbl: tbl }, { 'ok': function(rsp) { for (var i in rsp) { vals.push({ value: rsp[i].id, text: rsp[i].descr }); } } } ); return vals; } In essence, although the inner function inside the getStdOptions call ('ok': function...) pushes new values into the vals array, when accessed from outside the call, the vals array is empty. When accessed from within the inner function, vals contains all the elements as expected. Would really appreciate any help I can get on this matter.

  Hi, I have a newbie question regarding when to release the elements of a NSArray. See following pseudo code: NSMutalbeArray *2DArray = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:10]; for (int i=0;i<10;i++) { NSMutableArray *array = [[MSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:5]; for (int j=0;j<5;j++) { MyObject *obj = [[MyObject alloc] init]; [array addObject:obj]; [obj release]; } [2DArray addObject:array]; [array release]; } // use 2DArray to do something [2DArray release] My question here is, when I release 2DArray, do I need to explicitly release each of its element (array) first? Also, before I release the "array" object, do I need to release each of its element (MyObject) first? I am new to Objective C. Please help. thanks.

  I'm developing a cms that allows editing everything on the page (generated server-side with a template engine) by just clicking on it — the area turns into input field, textarea or a full-featured tinyMCE editor, Template defines editable elements like "page heading", "copyright footer text", "image", "rich text block" etc. Along with that there's always a flotaing panel with several tabs, some of which contain general settings like page bacground color, font settings etc, but some are context sensitive (e.g., the clicking on "image" editable field triggers to display uploading/cropping/captioning interface in the floating panel). All settings in the panel are either simple inputs or sliders or checkboxes. I'm new to using MVC with javascript, and in fact haven't used it much before. jQuery is used as code library for the project. Should i use JavascriptMVC, SproutCore or anything else? Does any of them allow some kind of sandboxing (within bounds of commmon sense) to allow some javascript code by user-generated skins on my cms? thank you!

• Custom iterator for a class based on two sets

  I have a class that contains two sets. They both contain the same key type but have different compare operations. I would like to provide an iterator for the class that iterates through the elements of both sets. I want to start with one set, then when I increment an iterator pointing to the last element of the first set, I want to go to the first element of the second set. How do I do this? I would like to preserve the bidirectional iterator semantics of std::set, but if it turns out that implementing a forward iterator is much easier, so be it. I'm willing to use the Boost Iterator library if that would help.

• Rails "Load more..." instead of pagination.

  I have a list of elements, and I've been using will_paginate up until now, but I'd like to have something like "load more..." at the bottom of the list. Is there an easy way to accomplish this using will_paginate or do I need to resort to some other method here? From what I know this is a better route anyhow because then I don't need a SQL count of the records. And it really doesn't matter if there are like 9,847 pages, nobody would need the records beyond the first couple pages anyhow.

• jQuery not replacing text in ReportViewer

  I'm trying to replace text that I got back in the ReportViewer using jQuery. My div, wrapped in the table cell, display "empty" as text - which I plan on replacing with my own formatted text on the client side. I can use jQuery just fine to set a class on the div (which is inside a td element). Example: jQuery('div:contains("empty")').addClass('replacetext'); But for some reason I cannot do this: jQuery('div:contains("empty")').replaceWith('<div>Hello World</div>'); I tried this out on some other elements on the page and jQuery does work... but it seems like this issue is ReportViewer (I'm using 2008) specific.

• Design Time Attribute For CSS Class in ASP.net Custom Server Control

  Hopefully some Custom Control Designers/Builders can help I'm attempting to build my first custom control that is essential a client detail collection form. There are to be a series of elements to this form that require various styles applied to them. Ideally I'd like the VS 2005/2008 properties interface to be able to apply the CSSClass as it does at the control level, i.e. with a dropdown list of available CSS Clases. Take for example the Class to be applied to the legend tag /// <summary>Css Class for Legend</summary> [Category("Appearance")] [Browsable(true)] [DefaultValue("")] //I am at a loss as to what goes in [Editor] [Editor(System.Web.UI.CssStyleCollection), typeof(System.Drawing.Design.UITypeEditor))] public string LegendCSSClass { get { return _LegendCSSClass; } set { _LegendCSSClass = value; } } I have tried a couple of options, as you can see from above, without much luck. • Accessing the feed/entry/id field of an ATOM 1.0 feed with the ROME library

  Hi, I feel a bit stupid asking this question, but I don't know how I can access the ID field of an entry when using ROME to parse an Atom feed. ROME provides it's own meta level of feeds/items, i.e. SyndFeed and SyndEntry. Being an abstraction over RSS and ATOM they only contain elements both formats support. Thus, there is no method to get an ID of an entry. There also exist low level packages for the distinct formats, and the Atom package contains com.sun.syndication.feed.atom.Entry, which provides getId(). However, I don't know how can I convert my SyndEntry into an Entry. I have not found a way to convert it. The (outdated) tutorials show a conversion, but that's only for output though. So how can I easily access the ID field? Thanks in advance.

• Jquery datePicker

  I have slight issue with the jquery datepicker in that it displays ABOVE the target box. This is due to the way my page is set up. I found the issue with CSS in my page via firebug, unfortunately it conflicts with about 20 elements. Next I tried hooking into the "beforeShow event" which works but then after the event fires it just recalculates and puts it where ever it wants. beforeShow: function() { $('#ui-datepicker-div').show(); var offset = $('#ui-datepicker-div').offset(); $('#ui-datepicker-div').css({ top: (offset.top + 222) + 'px' }) } Does anyone else have any ideas how how I can reposition this? I just need to move it down by about 200 odd pixels.

  I am doing my first steps with TDD. The problem is (as probably with everyone starting with TDD), I never know very well what kind of unit tests to do when I start working in my projects. Let's assume I want to write a Stack class with the following methods(I choose it as it's an easy example): Stack<T> - Push(element : T) - Pop() : T - Seek() : T - Count : int - IsEmpty : boolean How would you approch this? I never understood if the idea is to test a few corner cases for each method of the Stack class or start by doing a few "use cases" with the class, like adding 10 elements and removing them. What is the idea? To make code that uses the Stack as close as possible to what I'll use in my real code? Or just make simple "add one element" unit tests where I test if IsEmpty and Count were changed by adding that element? How am I supposed to start with this?

• Using a Loader for a string of QML

  In Qt 5.3 I've been using the Loader QML element for loading screens. Now I'm trying to load a string of QML dynamically. Qt.createQmlObject enables me to do so, but I can't seem to get the Loader element to play along. Seems like Loader only takes a URL (QUrl) or component (QQmlComponent), but Qt.createQmlObject creates an object (QObject). I'm new to QML, but from my understanding components are reusable elements, similar to classes, and objects are the instances of those classes. I thus can't seem to wrap my head around why Loader wouldn't work with objects. How can I show a loading screen while (asynchronously) parsing and initializing a string of QML?   We are using drag & drop utility between one source and multiple targets. We have a restriction that one of the target can only have one child element while the other ones can have multiple items.   Hi, Could someone please help me with this- I've 2 applications AAA and BBB. The homepage of AAA contains an iFrame which displays the application BBB. When I login to AAA, the same login details should be used to login to BBB(single signon) and on pageload of the homepage of AAA, homepage of BBB should also be loaded in the iFrame. I tried to use javascript to access the form elements of login page of BBB to enter the login data and submit. But the browser gives me a 'Access is denied' error. I did a little reading and came to know that cross- domain communication is not allowed by the browser. Could someone tell me how i can go about achieving this?

So, when I add 10000 elements to a map, and after that call map.clear(), it will keep 10000 nulls in it's internal array. So, my question is, how does JVM handle this array of nothing, and thus, is HashMap memory effective?

  I was originally asking for an elegant way to simulate the Array.concat() functionality in IE or older browsers, because it seemed that concat was not supported. Only, of course it is and the reason the object didn't support it is because it wasn't an array. Oops! getElementsByTagName returns a NodeList, not an array. The real question, then, is: what's a good way to get a single list of all the form elements in a document (input, select, textarea, button) to loop through them? An array isn't required... a single NodeList would be perfect, too. Note that I'm using IE6 as this is for a corporate intranet (soon IE8 though).

• Passing complex objects to javascript via IScriptControl

  I'm playing around with a asp.net page that's using the IScriptControl interface to pass data from the code-behind to the custom javascript object running on the browser. I'm passing a number of properties via IScriptControl.GetScriptDescriptors(), and they're all working fine, except for one. That one is a class derived from System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary<. And even that one has been working for me, so long as the elements in the collection were scalars - ints, doubles, and strings. But when I tried to pass a member of a class, it showed up as a null object in the javascript. The class in question is marked [Serializable]. I changed it to a struct, and got the same behavior. It looks as if the serializer used in IScriptControl does a shallow copy. I need a deep copy. Any ideas?
