• Django - How to do CSFR on public pages? Or, better yet, how should it be used period?

  After reading this: http://docs.djangoproject.com/en/dev/ref/contrib/csrf/#how-to-use-it I came to the conclusion that it is not valid to use this except for when you trust the person who is using the page which enlists it. Is this correct? I guess I don't really understand when it's safe to use this because of this statement: This should not be done for POST forms that target external URLs, since that would cause the CSRF token to be leaked, leading to a vulnerability. The reason it's confusing is that to me an "external URL" would be on that isn't part of my domain (ie, I own www.example.com and put a form that posts to www.spamfoo.com. This obviously can't be the case since people wouldn't use Django for generating forms that post to other people's websites, but how could it be true that you can't use CSRF protection on public forms (like a login form)?

• Accessing a file in Windows and Linux when working with JAVA+Eclipse.

  Hi there. I'm doing some JAVA coding at home and at work. At home i have Linux, work, Windows. The rootpath to X file in Windows is c:\Documents And Settings\User\My Documents\Dropbox\file.xxx and in Linux is something like /media/My Documents/Dropbox/file.xxx So, every time i edit in either system, i have to manually change the root of the file in a new File(FILEPATH) statement. Is there a workaround for this? I bet if the file root is relative to the project resource tree would do the trick, but that's an Eclipse based solution, not JAVA, i believe.

  I am doing profiling of my Java application and found some interesting statistics for a jdbc PreparedStatement call: Given below is the environment details: Database: Sybase SQL Anywhere 10.0.1 Driver: com.sybase.jdbc3.jdbc.SybDriver connection pool: c3p0 JRE: 1.6.0_05 The code in question is given below: try { ps = conn.prepareStatement(sql); ps.setDouble(...); rs = ps.executeQuery(); ...... return xyz; } finally { try { if (rs != null) rs.close(); if (ps != null) ps.close(); } catch (SQLException sqlEx) { } } From JProfiler stats, I find that this particular resultspace.close() statement alone takes a large amount of time. It varies from 25 ms to 320s while for other code blocks which are of identical in nature, i find that this takes close to 20 microseconds. Just to be sure, I ran this performance test multiple times and confirmed this data. I am puzzled by this behaviour - Thoughts?

Now how to represent the beginning of a day. • Refactoring a custom User model to user UserProfile: Should I create a custom UserManager or add use

  I have been refactoring an app that had customized the standard User model from django.contrib.auth.models by creating a UserProfile and defining it with AUTH_PROFILE_MODULE. The problem is the attributes in UserProfile are used throughout the project to determine the User sees. I had been creating tests and putting in this type of statement repeatedly: user = User.objects.get(pk=1) user_profile = user.get_profile() if user_profile.karma > 10: do_some_stuff() This is tedious and I'm now wondering if I'm violating the DRY principle. Would it make more sense to create a custom UserManager that automatically loads the UserProfile data when the user is requested. I could even iterate over the UserProfile attributes and append them to the User model. This would save me having to update all the references to the custom model attributes that litter the code. Of course, I'd have to reverse to process for to allow the User and UserProfile models to be updated correctly. Which approach is more Django-esque?

  I'm wishing I could do something like the following in SQl Server 2005 (which I know isnt valid) for my where clause. Sometimes @teamID (passed into a stored procedure) will be the value of an existing teamID, otherwise it will always be zero and I want all rows from the Team table. I researched using Case and the operator needs to come before or after the entire statement which prevents me from having a different operator based on the value of @teamid.   After I read a bunch of LINQ related stuff, I suddenly realized that no articles introduce how to write asynchronous LINQ query. Suppose we use LINQ to SQL, below statement is clear. However, if the SQL database responds slowly, then the thread using this block of code would be hindered. var result = from item in Products where item.Price > 3 select item.Name; foreach (var name in result) { Console.WriteLine(name); } Seems that current LINQ query spec doesn't provide support to this. • YouTube player api - addEventListener() does not work for me?

  Hi, I'm using the youtube player api. I'm following the doc here: http://code.google.com/apis/youtube/js_api_reference.html having a problem adding an event listener on the player, it seems to just get stuck there. I put an alert statement directly after, which never gets called: ytplayer.addEventListener("onStateChange", "onytplayerStateChange"); alert("I never get called..."); any idea why this would happen? Running it through FF chrome safari, same thing happens on all. Other player features all work fine. I'm using the swfobject version. I'm running this live from a server too. I don't get it. Thanks

It is working fine and if the user hasn't granted permission before then FB.Connect.showPermissionDialog is displayed, which prompts for the permission. My problem is that on "Granting" or "Skipping" the permission by the user the dialog box doesn't go away. It resides over there and refreshes itself to open the facebook home page inside the box. It has to be forcefully closed by clicking on the X button. Am I doing any thing wrong?

Within scripts/sessions.php i have a function to save whatever the $_POST information is to a file, and the sessions.php never saves this saveFormValues call. It never shows up to the file. But if i keep trying to get it to save, about once every 15 will actually allow it to be saved. This leads me to believe that the forms POST is somehow blocking this value saving post. Any help?

How can I prevent Rails from pluralizing the columns?   Hi all - I'm developing a simple LAMP app where users can credit their account using Paypal. I suspect this is a simple issue, but have spent quite a while experimenting to no avail and would appreciate any thoughts: System has a user management system working fine using sessions, but I can't get it to display the current user's credit. But I've been trying things along the lines of: $result = mysql_query(" SELECT * FROM users INNER JOIN account ON account.UserID=account.UserID ORDER BY account.accountID"); while($_SESSION['Username'] = $row['Username'] ) { echo $row['Username']; echo $row['Credit']; } I suspect the while statement is invalid, but I want it to echo username and credit where the current session username = the username stored in the database. Even other sample grammars that come with ANTLR (such as the CMinus grammar) exhibit this behavior.

  Hi. I am writing a plugin for wordpress and I want to create my own search. I have tried to alter the wordpress search, but what I am doing is very specific with the SQL query. I am comparing lat and long coordinates and getting posts based on that. I can display posts by using the standard wpdb query, but then I don't get the other features like paging. I'd like to be able to use my SQL statement with the WP_Query function. If I'm right in thinking, I should then be able to use the paging and other features which come from the $posts global variable. Is this right?? I've googled for hours but can't find anything for plugins outside of using args to select categories etc. I simply need to send a complete SQL command - nothing else. Many thanks....

  Hi, Rather than allowing a Ruby method to blindly return the last statement evaluated, is there any advantage to returning nil explicitly? In terms of implementation hiding and reuse, it seems dangerous to blindly allow the last expression evaluated to be returned - isn't there a danger that a user will rely on this only to get a nasty surprise when the implementation is modified? Surely returning nil would be better unless an explicit return value was given. Following on, is there an optimisation that Ruby can make when the return is a simple type rather than a reference to a more complex object? Chris

• Problem using Hibernate-Search

  Hi, I am using hibernate search for my application. It is well configured and running perfectly till some time back, when it stopped working suddenly. The reason according to me being the number of my model (bean) classes. I have some 90 classes, which I add to my configuration, while building my Hibernate Configuration. When, I disable hibernate search (remove the search annotations and use Configuration instead of AnnotationsConfiguration), I try to start my application, it Works fine. But,the same app when I enable search, it just hangs up. I tried debugging and found the exact place where it hangs. After adding all the class to my AnnotationsConfiguration object, when I say cfg.buildSessionfactory(), It never comes out of that statement. (I have waited for hours!!!) Also when I decrease the number of my model classes (like say to half i.e. 50) it comes out of that statement and the application works fine.. Can Someone tell why is this happening?? My versions of hibernate are: hibernate-core-3.3.1.GA.jar hibernate-annotations-3.4.0.GA.jar hibernate-commons-annotations-3.1.0.GA.jar hibernate-search-3.1.0.GA.jar Also if need to avoid using AnnotationsConfiguration, I read that I need to configure the search event listeners explicitly.. can anyone list all the neccessary listeners and their respective classes?   I have two mysql queries that return a column of phone numbers. I want am trying to end up with a list of phone numbers that are in one list, but not in the other. So the two queries I have are: SELECT phone FROM civicrm_phone phone LEFT JOIN civicrm_participant participant ON phone.contact_id = participant.contact_id WHERE phone.is_primary = 1 AND participant.id IS NULL and SELECT phone FROM civicrm_phone phone LEFT JOIN civicrm_participant participant ON phone.contact_id = participant.contact_id WHERE phone.is_primary = 1 AND participant.id IS NOT NULL And before anyone asks, the above two queries do not provide mutually exclusive results (based on using IS NULL and IS NOT NULL for the last WHERE statement), since we have related individuals in the database who use the same phone number, but do not necessarily all have a participant.id.   I hate this error message: Msg 8134, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 Divide by zero error encountered. What is the best way to write SQL code, so that I will never see this error message again? I mean, I could add a where clause so that my divisor is never zero. Or I could add a case statement, so that there is a special treatment for zero. Is the best way to use a NullIf clause?
