• user table with javaDB and Hibernate from within grails

  let's see if I can ask this in an understandable way... I started with grails and created a domain class called user. As far as I understand, Hibernate is used to map this domain class to the database. This works pretty fine with hsqldb. Now I tried to switch to javaDB and get an error message because the table is called "user" (which seems to be a reserved word for javaDB). So a statement like create table user ... will result in an error message. create table "user" ... works, but Hibernate seems not put put the table name in quotes. How can I configure Hibernate to use quotes in order to make it work with my table name? PS: yes, I know, I could map the domain class to another table name... :-)

• Python Vector Class

  I'm coming from a C# background where this stuff is super easy—trying to translate into Python for Maya. There's gotta' be a better way to do this. Basically, I'm looking to create a Vector class that will simply have x, y and z coordinates, but it would be ideal if this class returned a tuple with all 3 coordinates and if you could edit the values of this tuple through x, y and z properties, somehow. This is what I have so far, but there must be a better way to do this than using an exec statement, right? Cannot resolve the collation conflict between "Latin1_General_CS_AS" and "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS" in the equal to operation. • Flex 4 - Using .pfm/.pfb fonts

  Hi everyone, I just switched to Flash Builder 4 & Flex 4 SDK, and it seems it's no longer possible to use a .pfm/.pfb font, either by embedding it or using it as a system font. I keep getting error messages, and Google can't find anybody having the same issue. I tried several methods: - copy/pasting the [Embed] statement which was working using Flex 3 SDK - installing the font and then try to simply call it by its name in a CSS declaration without embedding it ; seems to work for every .ttf and .otf system fonts, but not for .pfm/.pfm ones - using a Flash-generated swf which embeds the font So far none of these seems to work. Has anybody got an idea on how to achieve this? I actually don't care using a system font without embedding it as long as it works. I'll be really grateful if somebody could help me on this, I'm totally stuck and cannot use another font instead.

• Button click doesn't call function even when button attribute OnClick is set to that function

  Hi, I have an aspx page with two buttons, one of the buttons has an OnClick attribute to a function that should be run when clicked. When the other button is clicked there is an if statement checking if the page is a postback, if it is then I run some statements that need to be run when that button is clicked. That postback button works fine. However, the other button, when it's clicked the function it's supposed to call never executes, and the statements inside if (Page.IsPostBack) get executed instead. What can I do to fix this? Is there a way to make the button that calls a function not do a Post back?

• Unable to specify abstract classes in TPH hierarchy in Entity Framework 4

  Hi I have a TPH heirachy along the lines of: A-B-C-D A-B-C-E A-F-G-H A-F-G-I I have A as Abstract, and all the other classes are concrete with a single discriminator column. This works fine, but I want C and G to be abstract also. If I do that, and remove their discriminators from the mapping, I get error 3034 'Two entities with different keys are mapped to the same row'. I cannot see how this statement can be correct, so I assume it's a bug in some way. Is it possible to do the above? Lee

  Hi guys I am getting a problem when i compile my iphone database application to device. When i debug the code it says database path "out of scope" on the break point and it does not compile the statement. Below is the code i am using to access the database. databaseName = @"Zen.sqlite"; NSArray *documentPaths = NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask,YES); NSString *documentsDir=[documentPaths objectAtIndex:0]; databasePath=[documentsDir stringByAppendingPathComponent:databaseName]; It works perfectly fine when i use the same code on simulator.   I am trying to write a module that will change a user's permissions once a node form is inserted into the database. I already have a role assigned when a user registers, but i want that role to be changed once they create a 'company' profile in this case which is when they fill out a cck form of 'company_post' type.   Since the RBPI (Raspberry Pi) has very low power consumption and very low production price, it means one could build a very big cluster with those. I'm not sure, but a cluster of 100000 RBPI would take little power and little room. Now I think it might not be as powerful as existing supercomputers in terms of FLOPS or others sorts of computing measurements, but could it allow better neuronal network simulation ? I'm not sure if saying "1 CPU = 1 neuron" is a reasonable statement, but it seems valid enough. So does it mean such a cluster would more efficient for neuronal network simulation, since it's far more parallel than other classical clusters ?

  I have the following code: foreach (byte b in bytes) { byte inv = byte.MaxValue - b; // Add the new value to a list.... } When I do this I get the following error: Cannot implicitly convert type 'int' to 'byte'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?) Each part of this statement is a byte. Why does C# want to convert the byte.MaxValue - b to an int? Shouldn't you be able to do this some how without casting? (i.e. I don't want to have to do this: byte inv = (byte) (byte.MaxValue - b);)

  Hello, does the Java Compiler optimize a statement like this if (a == true) { if (b == true) { if (c == true) { if(d == true) { //code to process stands here } } } } to if (a == true && b==true && c==true && d == true) So thats my first question: Do both take exactly the same "CPU Cycles" or is the first variant "slowlier". My Second questin is, is the first variant with the cascaded if considered bad programming style as it is so verbose? (I like the first variant as I can better logically group my expressions and better comment them (my if statements are more complex than in the example), but maybe thats bad proramming style?) and even slowlier, thats why I am asking...   I needed to filter a list of results using the combination of two properties. A plain SQL statement would look like this: SELECT TOP 10 * FROM Person WHERE FirstName + ' ' + LastName LIKE '%' + @Term + '%' The ICriteria in NHibernate that I ended up using was: ICriteria criteria = Session.CreateCriteria(typeof(Person)); criteria.Add(Expression.Sql( "FirstName + ' ' + LastName LIKE ?", "%" + term + "%", NHibernateUtil.String)); criteria.SetMaxResults(10); It works perfectly, but I'm not sure if it is the ideal solution since I'm still learning about NHibernate's Criteria API. What are the recommended alternatives? Is there something besides Expression.Sql that would perform the same operation? I tried Expression.Like but couldn't figure out how to combine the first and last names. Should I map a FullName property to the formula "FirstName + ' ' + LastName" in the mapping class? Should I create a read only FullName property on the domain object then map it to a column?

Even if any record fails in middle, i have to take next record for process and failed record need to log for audit. I don't want to put insert query with in for loop.   I have a TextBox control on a Windows Form that uses a DataSource custom object as its BindingSource. I have associated an ErrorProvider with the BindingSource like so: Dim dobExample As New DOExample ExampleBS.DataSource = dobExample epExample.DataSource = ExampleBS The ErrorProvider fires if I type a blank space in the TextBox and then press Tab to move to the next control, which is correct. But it doesn't fire if I just press Tab without entering anything. I want the ErrorProvider to show the Error, even if the TextBox is empty and not just validate when there is text in the TextBox. How do I accomplish this? As an additional bit of info, when I execute the following statement: epDOContact.GetError(TextBox) an empty string is returned even though the TextBox is empty when it is required to be present.

DECLARE item tbusiness_inter_item_bag; BEGIN item.system_event_cd := 'ABC'; END; This also raises the same error: item.item_id := 3; But if i change my object type into: CREATE OR REPLACE TYPE tbusiness_inter_item_bag AS OBJECT ( item_id NUMBER(1), system_event_cd VARCHAR2 (20), CONSTRUCTOR FUNCTION tbusiness_inter_item_bag RETURN SELF AS RESULT ); then the last statement raises no more error (where my "item" is still uninitialized): item.item_id := 3; Shouldn't i get the same ORA-06530 error? ps: Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.4.0 - 64bi
