  • Reason for not properly closed socket?

    Here is what I am trying to do: The server sends message to connected clients when new messages are available. The client, on the other hand, when connected, tries to send a message to the server using send() and then receive message using recv(), right after that, the client calls close() to close the connection. Sometimes, after the client finishes, the server tries to receive message from client will result in a 104 - "connection reset by peer" error. When this happens, Wireshark reveals that the last two segments sent by the client is: 1. an ACK acknowledging the receipt of the message sent by the server 2. a RST/ACK No FIN is sent by the client. Why is this happening and how can I close the socket "properly" at the client?

    I need to call another shell script testarg.sh within my main script. This script testarg.sh has arguments ARG1 ,ARG2, ARG3. I need to call up the below way ./testarg.sh -ARG1 -ARG2 -ARG3 ARG1 and ARG3 argument Variables are mandatory ones. If its not passed to the main script then i quit. ARG2 is an optional one. If the ARG2 variable is not set with value or it's not defined then i need not pass it from main script.So i need to call up the below way ./testarg.sh -ARG1 -ARG3 If the value exist for the ARG2 Varibale then i need to call the below way ./testarg.sh -ARG1 -ARG2 -ARG3 Do i need to have a if else statement for checking the ARG2 variable is empty or null. Is there any other way to do it.

    Hi all, I want to write a Unix shell script that will do various logic if there is a string inside of another string. For example, if I am in a certain folder, branch off. Could someone please tell me how to accomplish this?   • c# GUI changing a listbox from another class

    I've written a multithreaded server that uses tcplistener and a client handler class that controls input and output. I also have a GUI chat client. The chat client works fine and the console version of the server also works well. I have a start() method in the partial(?) Form class, which I run from a new thread when I click a button, that starts the TCP Listener and loops through and accepts socket requests. For every request a new ClientHandler object is created and the socket is passed to this object before being used in a new handler thread. The ClientHandler is a different class to the form and I'm having real problems writing data to the Listbox in the Form class from within the ClientHandler class. I've tried a few different ways of doing this but none of them work as they involve creating a new form class within the ClientHandler. Any help or advice on what I should be reading to help me would be really appreciated.

    Look at this ruby example: puts ["Dog","Cat","Gates"].1 This will output Cat as ruby allows me to directly access the "anonymous" array created. If I try this in PHP, however: echo array("Dog","Cat,"Gates")[1] This won't work. What is this called, not only concerning arrays but all functions? Where else is it possible? Feel free to change the question title when you know how this "feature" is called.

    I am working on a PPC2003 application. The devices on which the application has to run have a modem and VPN connection set. I want to automatically dial the system default "work" connection, which is the VPN one, which dial the modem one first. The user has another application who does automatically make the system dial the default connection. But I can't undertand how to do it from my Compact .NET application. I tried using OpenNETCF net package, but I could not make it work.

    As a result of a conversation with a colleague today, I've been searching (unsuccessfully) for a large'ish list of what technology stacks are being used popular websites and standalone applications today. We're aware of the big ones like Facebook (php/ ), Twitter (scala/cassandra), Youtube (python/?), Digg (php/cassandra), stackoverflow (.net mvc/sqlserver), but we're looking for a more complete list. It would also be interesting to hear about any stats for desktop apps also? Can anyone help?

But I don't like it (sorry c++ fans) I would like to write it with something cool, like Lisp or Haskell or Erlang... The method initialize(capture#10-of ? extends Annotation) in the type MyConstraintValidator<capture#10-of ? extends Annotation> is not applicable for the arguments (Annotation) If I remove the wild cards, then it compiles and works fine. What would be the propert way to declare the type parameter for the vairable validatorClass? Thanks.

    Hi! all, I was trying to write a udp server who send an instance of a file to multiple clients.Now suppose any how I manage to know the address of those client statically(for the sake of simplicity) and now I want to send this packet to these addresses.So how exactly I need to fill the sockaddr structure to contain the address of these clients.I am taking an array of sockaddr structure(to contain client address) and trying to send at each one them at a time.Now problem is to fill the individual sockaddr structure to contain the client address. I was trying to do something like that sa[1].sin_family = AF_INET; sa[1].sin_addr.s_addr = htonl(INADDR_ANY);//should'nt I replace this INADDR_ANY with client ip?? sa[1].sin_port = htons(50002); Correct me if this is not the correct way.     Dear programmers of StackOverflow, recently me and two of my friends from college started a software company. We are developing web-applications using GWT-Spring-Hibernate and other helper frameworks. In a couple of months, we managed to set up a stable back-end and produced some demo programs for CRM solutions. Our area of interest is CRM where we can combine the flexibility of our back-end with the slick looking GWT based GUIs. Unfortunately we live in a third world country (well, kind of two and a half :) and no one here gives our work enough credit, or really cares about the advantages of web-apps. We are stuck at the moment because our current clients do not want to pay that much money for just "putting their local app on the web". Since we can not find satisfying work here, we have decided to work online/international. I was wondering if you guys know a good freelance kind of sites where we can throw ourselves into the market.. Also a question from frustration, to those who are in the field or knowledgeable/interested about web based CRM, how much would you ask/pay for lets say a web app which will keep track of all the patients of a multi-branch clinic also allowing the patients to access to view their own records?     The code sorts two input sequences - seq01 and seq02 - on the basis of their timestamp values and returns a sequence that denotes which sequence is to be read for the values to be in order. For cases where seq02's timestamp value is lesser than seq01's timestamp value we yield a "2" to the sequence being returned, else a "1". So the expected values for let c = mergeSeq a b would have been {"2","1","2","1"...}. However I am getting this error: error FS0001: The type ''a * 'b * 'c' does not match the type 'int' EDIT After correcting: let mergeSeq (seq01:seq<_>) (seq02:seq<_>) = seq { use iter01 = seq01.GetEnumerator() use iter02 = seq02.GetEnumerator() while iter01.MoveNext() do let time01 = iter01.Current let time02 = iter02.Current while time02 < time01 && iter02.MoveNext() do yield "2" yield "1" } After running this, there's another error: call MoveNext. Somehow the iteration is not being performed.

  • Most efficient way for testing links

    I'm currently developping an app that is going through all the files on a server and checking every single hrefs to check wether they are valid or not. Using a WebClient or a HttpWebRequest/HttpWebResponse is kinda overkilling the process because it downloads the whole page each time, which is useless, I only need to check if the link do not return 404. What would be the most efficient way? Socket seems to be a good way of doing it, however I'm not quite sure how this works. Thanks for sharing your expertise!

  • Writing an auto-memoizer in Scheme. Help with macro and a wrapper.

    I am facing a couple of problems while writing an auto-memoizer in Scheme. I have a working memoizer function, which creats a hash table and checks if the value is already computed. If it has been computed before then it returns the value else it calls the function. (define (memoizer fun) (let ((a-table (make-hash))) (?(n) (define false-if-fail (?() #f)) (let ((return-val (hash-ref a-table n false-if-fail))) (if return-val return-val (begin (hash-set! a-table n (fun n)) (hash-ref a-table n))))))) Now I want to create a memoize-wrapper function like this: (define (memoize-wrapper function) (set! function (memoizer function))) And hopefully create a macro called def-memo which defines the function with the memoize-wrapper. eg. the macro could expand to (memoizer (define function-name arguments body ...) or something like that. So that I should be able to do : (def-memo (factorial n) (cond ((= n 1) 1) (else (* n (factorial (- n 1)))))) which should create a memoized version of the factorial instead of the normal slow one. My problem is that the The memoize-wrapper is not working properly, it doesnt call the memoized function but the original function. I have no idea how to write a define inside of the macro. How do I make sure that I can get variable lenght arguments and variable length body? How do I then define the function and wrap it around with the memoizer? Thanks a lot.

    Hello, Consider this code running on my microcontroller unit(MCU): while(1){ do_stuff; if(packet_from_PC) send_data_via_gpio(new_packet); //send via general purpose i/o pins else send_data_via_gpio(default_packet); do_other_stuff; } The MCU is also interfaced to a PC via a UART.Whenever the PC sends data to the MCU, the *new_packet* is sent, otherwise the *default_packet* is sent.Each packet can be 5 or more bytes with a pre defined packet structure. My question is: 1.Should i receive the entire packet from PC using inside the UART interrut service routine (ISR)? In this case, i have to implement a state machine inside the ISR to assemble the packet (which can be lengthy with if-else or switch-case blocks). 2.Detect a REQUEST command (one byte)from the PC in my ISR set a flag, diable UART interrupt alone and form the packet in my while(1) loop by polling the UART?
