  • o write a C++ program to encrypt and decrypt certain codes.

    - by Amber
Step 1: Write a function int GetText(char[],int); which fills a character array from a requested file. That is, the function should prompt the user to input the filename, and then read up to the number of characters given as the second argument, terminating when the number has been reached or when the end of file is encountered. The file should then be closed. The number of characters placed in the array is then returned as the value of the function. Every character in the file should be transferred to the array. Whitespace should not be removed. When testing, assume that no more than 5000 characters will be read. The function should be placed in a file called coding.cpp while the main will be in ass5.cpp. To enable the prototypes to be accessible, the file coding.h contains the prototypes for all the functions that are to be written in coding.cpp for this assignment. (You may write other functions. If they are called from any of the functions in coding.h, they must appear in coding.cpp where their prototypes should also appear. Do not alter coding.h. Any other functions written for this assignment should be placed, along with their prototypes, with the main function.) Step 2: Write a function int SimplifyText(char[],int); which simplifies the text in the first argument, an array containing the number of characters as given in the second argument, by converting all alphabetic characters to lower case, removing all non-alpha characters, and replacing multiple whitespace by one blank. Any leading whitespace at the beginning of the array should be removed completely. The resulting number of characters should be returned as the value of the function. Note that another array cannot appear in the function (as the file does not contain one). For example, if the array contained the 29 characters "The 39 Steps" by John Buchan (with the " appearing in the array), the simplified text would be the steps by john buchan of length 24. The array should not contain a null character at the end. Step 3: Using the file test.txt, test your program so far. You will need to write a function void PrintText(const char[],int, int); that prints out the contents of the array, whose length is the second argument, breaking the lines to exactly the number of characters in the third argument. Be warned that, if the array contains newlines (as it would when read from a file), lines will be broken earlier than the specified length. Step 4: Write a function void Caesar(const char[],int, char[],int); which takes the first argument array, with length given by the second argument and codes it into the third argument array, using the shift given in the fourth argument. The shift must be performed cyclicly and must also be able to handle negative shifts. Shifts exceeding 26 can be reduced by modulo arithmetic. (Is C++'s modulo operations on negative numbers a problem here?) Demonstrate that the test file, as simplified, can be coded and decoded using a given shift by listing the original input text, the simplified text (indicating the new length), the coded text and finally the decoded text. Step 5: The permutation cypher does not limit the character substitution to just a shift. In fact, each of the 26 characters is coded to one of the others in an arbitrary way. So, for example, a might become f, b become q, c become d, but a letter never remains the same. How the letters are rearranged can be specified using a seed to the random number generator. The code can then be decoded, if the decoder has the same random number generator and knows the seed. Write the function void Permute(const char[],int, char[],unsigned long); with the same first three arguments as Caesar above, with the fourth argument being the seed. The function will have to make up a permutation table as follows: To find what a is coded as, generate a random number from 1 to 25. Add that to a to get the coded letter. Mark that letter as used. For b, generate 1 to 24, then step that many letters after b, ignoring the used letter if encountered. For c, generate 1 to 23, ignoring a or b's codes if encountered. Wrap around at z. Here's an example, for only the 6 letters a, b, c, d, e, f. For the letter a, generate, from 1-5, a 2. Then a - c. c is marked as used. For the letter b, generate, from 1-4, a 3. So count 3 from b, skipping c (since it is marked as used) yielding the coding of b - f. Mark f as used. For c, generate, from 1-3, a 3. So count 3 from c, skipping f, giving a. Note the wrap at the last letter back to the first. And so on, yielding a - c b - f c - a d - b (it got a 2) e - d f - e Thus, for a given seed, a translation table is required. To decode a piece of text, we need the table generated to be re-arranged so that the right hand column is in order. In fact you can just store the table in the reverse way (e.g., if a gets encoded to c, put a opposite c is the table). Write a function called void DePermute(const char[],int, char[], unsigned long); to reverse the permutation cypher. Again, test your functions using the test file. At this point, any main program used to test these functions will not be required as part of the assignment. The remainder of the assignment uses some of these functions, and needs its own main function. When submitted, all the above functions will be tested by the marker's own main function. Step 6: If the seed number is unknown, decoding is difficult. Write a main program which: (i) reads in a piece of text using GetText; (ii) simplifies the text using SimplifyText; (iii) prints the text using PrintText; (iv) requests two letters to swap. If we think 'a' in the text should be 'q' we would type aq as input. The text would be modified by swapping the a's and q's, and the text reprinted. Repeat this last step until the user considers the text is decoded, when the input of the same letter twice (requesting a letter to be swapped with itself) terminates the program. Step 7: If we have a large enough sample of coded text, we can use knowledge of English to aid in finding the permutation. The first clue is in the frequency of occurrence of each letter. Write a function void LetterFreq(const char[],int, freq[]); which takes the piece of text given as the first two arguments (same as above) and returns in the 26 long array of structs (the third argument), the table of the frequency of the 26 letters. This frequency table should be in decreasing order of popularity. A simple Selection Sort will suffice. (This will be described in lectures.) When printed, this summary would look something like v x r s z j p t n c l h u o i b w d g e a q y k f m 168106 68 66 59 54 48 45 44 35 26 24 22 20 20 20 17 13 12 12 4 4 1 0 0 0 The formatting will require the use of input/output manipulators. See the header file for the definition of the struct called freq. Modify the program so that, before each swap is requested, the current frequency of the letters is printed. This does not require further calls to LetterFreq, however. You may use the traditional order of regular letter frequencies (E T A I O N S H R D L U) as a guide when deciding what characters to exchange. Step 8: The decoding process can be made more difficult if blank is also coded. That is, consider the alphabet to be 27 letters. Rewrite LetterFreq and your main program to handle blank as another character to code. In the above frequency order, space usually comes first.

  • Logs show failed password for invalid user root from <IP Address> port 2924 ssh2

    - by Chris Hanson
I'm getting a constant flow of these messages in my logs. The port is variable (seemingly between 1024 and 65535). I can simulate it myself by running sftp root@<my ip> I've commented out the sftp subsystem line in my sshd_config. These ports should be closed by provider's firewall. I don't understand: Why sftp would be selecting a random port like that. It seems to be behaving like FTP in passive mode, but I can't make any sense of why that would be. Why it can even hit my server in the first place if these ports are closed.

  • AjaxControlToolkit: HtmlEditor Textarea not showing in Chrome/Safari

    - by pagetailor
Hi, I am using the HtmlEditor Control included in the AjaxControlToolkit (patched version v62210 because I needed some of the included fixes). Unfortunately the textarea in the Html Editor control is never displayed in Chrome and Safari (both latest version). It doesn't matter if there is text in it or not. It does work on the AjaxControlToolkit Sample page with both browsers though. Any ideas?

  • AesManaged and RijndaelManaged

    - by xscape
Im currently developing a Silverlight application that connects to an old webservice. Our old webservice uses an encryption tool which silverlight does not support. Finally, we decided to used AesManaged for encryption, however, our webservice does not support AesManaged. Is their a way to decrypt an AesManaged to RijndaelManaged? If yes, can you please post a sample snippet? Your feedback is highly needed. Thank you.

  • Silverlight animation not smooth

    - by Andrej
Hi, When trying to animate objects time/frame based in Silverlight (in contrast to using something like DoubleAnimation or Storyboard, which is not suitable e.g. for fast paced games), for example moving a spaceship in a particular direction every frame, the movement is jumpy and not really smooth. The screen even seems to tear. There seems to be no difference between CompositionTarget and DistpatcherTimer. I use the following approach (in pseudocode): Register Handler to Tick-Event of a DispatcherTimer In each Tick: Compute the elapsed time from the last frame in milliseconds Object.X += movementSpeed * ellapsedMilliseconds This should result in a smooth movement, right? But it doesn't. Here is an example (Controls: WASD and Mouse): Silverlight Game. Although the effect I described is not too prevalent in this sample, I can assure you that even moving a single rectangle over a canvas produces a jumpy animation. Does someone have an idea how to minimize this. Are there other approaches to to frame based animation exept using Storyboards/DoubleAnimations which could solve this? Edit: Here a quick and dirty approach, animating a rectangle with minimum code (Controls: A and D) Animation Sample Xaml: <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="Black"> <Canvas Width="1000" Height="400" Background="Blue"> <Rectangle x:Name="rect" Width="48" Height="48" Fill="White" Canvas.Top="200" Canvas.Left="0"/> </Canvas> </Grid> C#: private bool isLeft = false; private bool isRight = false; private DispatcherTimer timer = new DispatcherTimer(); private double lastUpdate; public Page() { InitializeComponent(); timer.Interval = TimeSpan.FromMilliseconds(1); timer.Tick += OnTick; lastUpdate = Environment.TickCount; timer.Start(); } private void OnTick(object sender, EventArgs e) { double diff = Environment.TickCount - lastUpdate; double x = Canvas.GetLeft(rect); if (isRight) x += 1 * diff; else if (isLeft) x -= 1 * diff; Canvas.SetLeft(rect, x); lastUpdate = Environment.TickCount; } private void UserControl_KeyDown(object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { if (e.Key == Key.D) isRight = true; if (e.Key == Key.A) isLeft = true; } private void UserControl_KeyUp(object sender, KeyEventArgs e) { if (e.Key == Key.D) isRight = false; if (e.Key == Key.A) isLeft = false; } Thanks! • WPF storyboard animation issue when using VisualBrush

    - by Flack
Hey guys, I was playing around with storyboards, a flipping animation, and visual brushes. I have encountered an issue though. Below is the xaml and code-behind of a small sample I quickly put together to try to demonstrate the problem. When you first start the app, you are presented with a red square and two buttons. If you click the "Flip" button, the red square will "flip" over and a blue one will appear. In reality, all that is happening is that the scale of the width of the StackPanel that the red square is in is being decreased until it reaches zero and then the StackPanel where a blue square is, whose width is initially scaled to zero, has its width increased. If you click the "Flip" button a few times, the animation looks ok and smooth. Now, if you hit the "Reflection" button, a reflection of the red/blue buttons is added to their respective StackPanels. Hitting the "Flip" button now will still cause the flip animation but it is no longer a smooth animation. The StackPanels width often does not shrink to zero. The width shrinks somewhat but then just stops before being completely invisible. Then the other StackPanel appears as usual. The only thing that changed was adding the reflection, which is just a VisualBrush. Below is the code. Does anyone have any idea why the animations are different between the two cases (stalling in the second case)? } } } } UPDATE: I have been testing this some more to try to find out what is causing the issue I am seeing and I believe I found what is causing the issue. Below I have pasted new xaml and code-behind. The new sample below is very similar to the original sample, with a few minor modifications. The xaml basically consists of two stack panels, each containing two borders. The second border in each stack panel is a visual brush (a reflection of the border above it). Now, when I click the "Flip" button, one stack panel gets its ScaleX reduced to zero, while the second stack panel, whose initial ScaleX is zero, gets its ScaleX increased to 1. This animation gives the illusion of flipping. There are also two textblocks which display the scale factor of each stack panel. I added those to try to diagnose my issue. The issue is (as described in the oringal post) that the flipping animation is not smooth. Every time I hit the flip button, the animation starts but whenever the ScaleX factor gets to around .14 to .16, the animation looks like it stalls and the stack panels never have there ScaleX reduced to zero, so they never totally disappear. Now, the strange thing is that if I change the Width/Height properties of the "frontBorder" and "backBorder" borders defined below to use explict values instead of Auto, such as Width=105 and Height=75 (to match the button in the border) everything works fine. The animation stutters the first two or three times I run it but after that the flips are smooth and flawless. (BTW, when an animation is run for the first time, is there something going on in the background, some sort of initialization, that causes it to be a little slow the first time?) Is it possible that the Auto Width/Height of the borders are causing the issue? I can reproduce it everytime but I am not sure why Auto Width/Height would be a problem. Below is the sample. Thanks for the help. <Window x:Class="FlipTest.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="Window1" Height="300" Width="300"> <Window.Resources> <Storyboard x:Key="sbFlip"> <DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames BeginTime="00:00:00" Storyboard.TargetName="front" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(UIElement.RenderTransform).(ScaleTransform.ScaleX)"> <SplineDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.5" Value="0"/> </DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames> <DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames BeginTime="00:00:00.5" Storyboard.TargetName="back" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(UIElement.RenderTransform).(ScaleTransform.ScaleX)"> <SplineDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.5" Value="1"/> </DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames> </Storyboard> <Storyboard x:Key="sbFlipBack"> <DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames BeginTime="00:00:00" Storyboard.TargetName="back" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(UIElement.RenderTransform).(ScaleTransform.ScaleX)"> <SplineDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.5" Value="0"/> </DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames> <DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames BeginTime="00:00:00.5" Storyboard.TargetName="front" Storyboard.TargetProperty="(UIElement.RenderTransform).(ScaleTransform.ScaleX)"> <SplineDoubleKeyFrame KeyTime="00:00:00.5" Value="1"/> </DoubleAnimationUsingKeyFrames> </Storyboard> </Window.Resources> <Grid x:Name="LayoutRoot" Background="White" ShowGridLines="True"> <Grid.RowDefinitions> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/> <RowDefinition Height="Auto"/> </Grid.RowDefinitions> <Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto"/> <ColumnDefinition Width="Auto"/> </Grid.ColumnDefinitions> <StackPanel x:Name="front" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5"> <StackPanel.RenderTransform> <ScaleTransform/> </StackPanel.RenderTransform> <Border Name="frontBorder" BorderBrush="Yellow" BorderThickness="2" Width="Auto" Height="Auto"> <Button Margin="0" Name="redButton" Height="75" Background="Red" Width="105" Click="FlipButton_Click"/> </Border> <Border Width="{Binding ElementName=frontBorder, Path=ActualWidth}" Height="{Binding ElementName=frontBorder, Path=ActualHeight}" Opacity="0.2" BorderBrush="Transparent"> <Border.OpacityMask> <LinearGradientBrush StartPoint="0,0" EndPoint="0,1"> <LinearGradientBrush.GradientStops> <GradientStop Offset="0" Color="Black"/> <GradientStop Offset=".6" Color="Transparent"/> </LinearGradientBrush.GradientStops> </LinearGradientBrush> </Border.OpacityMask> <Border. Background> <VisualBrush Visual="{Binding ElementName=frontBorder}"> <VisualBrush.Transform> <ScaleTransform ScaleX="1" ScaleY="-1" CenterX="52.5" CenterY="37.5" /> </VisualBrush.Transform> </VisualBrush> </Border.Background> </Border> </StackPanel> <StackPanel x:Name="back" RenderTransformOrigin="0.5,0.5"> <StackPanel.RenderTransform> <ScaleTransform ScaleX="0"/> </StackPanel.RenderTransform> <Border Name="backBorder" BorderBrush="Yellow" BorderThickness="2" Width="Auto" Height="Auto"> <Button Margin="0" Width="105" Background="Blue" Name="blueButton" Height="75" Click="FlipButton_Click"/> </Border> <Border Width="{Binding ElementName=backBorder, Path=ActualWidth}" Height="{Binding ElementName=backBorder, Path=ActualHeight}" Opacity="0.2" BorderBrush="Transparent"> <Border.OpacityMask> <LinearGradientBrush StartPoint="0,0" EndPoint="0,1"> <LinearGradientBrush.GradientStops> <GradientStop Offset="0" Color="Black"/> <GradientStop Offset=".6" Color="Transparent"/> </LinearGradientBrush.GradientStops> </LinearGradientBrush> </Border.OpacityMask> <Border. Background> <VisualBrush Visual="{Binding ElementName=backBorder}"> <VisualBrush.Transform> <ScaleTransform ScaleX="1" ScaleY="-1" CenterX="52.5" CenterY="37.5" /> </VisualBrush.Transform> </VisualBrush> </Border.Background> </Border> </StackPanel> <Button Grid.Row="1" Click="FlipButton_Click" Height="19.45" HorizontalAlignment="Left" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="76">Flip</Button> <TextBlock Grid.Row="2" Grid.Column="0" Foreground="DarkRed" Height="19.45" HorizontalAlignment="Left" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="76" Text="{Binding ElementName=front, Path=(UIElement.RenderTransform).(ScaleTransform.ScaleX)}"/> <TextBlock Grid.Row="3" Grid.Column="0" Foreground="DarkBlue" Height="19.45" HorizontalAlignment="Left" VerticalAlignment="Top" Width="76" Text="{Binding ElementName=back, Path=(UIElement.RenderTransform).(ScaleTransform.ScaleX)}"/> </Grid> </Window> Code-behind: using System; Hi Is it possible to programmatically change a "multi-line text field" to "single-line text field" ? SPFieldMultiLineText field = list.Fields["sample"] as SPFieldMultiLineText; // how to change the type to 'single line' now ? Or do I need to create an additional field (with a similiar name) and migrate the content? Thanks for any help.

  • iPhone OpenGL ES: How do I use gravity vector to correctly transform scene for augmented reality

    - by gpdawson
    I'm trying figure out how to get an OpenGL specified object to be displayed correctly according to the device orientation (ie. according to the gravity vector from the accelerometer, and heading from compass). The GLGravity sample project has an example which is almost like this (despite ignoring heading), but it has some glitches. For example, the teapot jumps 180deg as the device viewing angle crosses the horizon, and it also rotates spuriously if you tilt the device from portrait into landscape. This is fine for the context of this app, as it just shows off an object and it doesn't matter that it does these things. But it means that the code just doesn't work when you attempt to emulate real life viewing of an OpenGL object according to the device's orientation. What happens is that it almost works, but the heading rotation you apply from the compass gets "corrupted" by the spurious additional rotations seen in the GLGravity example project. Can anyone provide sample code that shows how to adjust correctly for the device orientation (ie. gravity vector), or to fix the GLGravity example so that it doesn't include spurious heading changes? //Clear matrix to be used to rotate from the current referential to one based on the gravity vector bzero(matrix, sizeof(matrix)); matrix[3][3] = 1.0; //Setup first matrix column as gravity vector matrix[0][0] = accel[0] / length; matrix[0][1] = accel[1] / length; matrix[0][2] = accel[2] / length; //Setup second matrix column as an arbitrary vector in the plane perpendicular to the gravity vector {Gx, Gy, Gz} defined by by the equation "Gx * x + Gy * y + Gz * z = 0" in which we arbitrarily set x=0 and y=1 matrix[1][0] = 0.0; matrix[1][1] = 1.0; matrix[1][2] = -accel[1] / accel[2]; length = sqrtf(matrix[1][0] * matrix[1][0] + matrix[1][1] * matrix[1][1] + matrix[1][2] * matrix[1][2]); matrix[1][0] /= length; matrix[1][1] /= length; matrix[1][2] /= length; //Setup third matrix column as the cross product of the first two matrix[2][0] = matrix[0][1] * matrix[1][2] - matrix[0][2] * matrix[1][1]; matrix[2][1] = matrix[1][0] * matrix[0][2] - matrix[1][2] * matrix[0][0]; matrix[2][2] = matrix[0][0] * matrix[1][1] - matrix[0][1] * matrix[1][0]; //Finally load matrix glMultMatrixf((GLfloat*)matrix);

  • How to blacklist a problem Wi-Fi access point by MAC address in Mac OS X

    - by Sam Alexander
So I am a small Mac-user cog in a larger Windows-based network machine. The network here works fine for most everyone else (on PCs), but I have random timeouts and issues with the Wi-Fi. Luckily, I have identified a few problem access points by MAC address (via their log messages in Console.app). Is it possible to tell my AirPort on my Macbook to avoid those access points, and only speak with the access points who are far less touchy about me drinking the Apple kool-aid? All of the points are on the same network SSID.

CPU Performance Looking for low level tools, rather than web based tools such as Nagios, Ganglia etc... n.b. I'd like to know exactly what each tool does rather than just having a list of random toolnames if possible please. Why the tool is a better option than others would be good also.

  • Android Quick Actions UI Pattern

    - by Jeremy Edwards
I'm interesting in incorporating the Android UI pattern called "Quick Action". Basically, it's a context menu that doesn't cover up the data that is being acted on. I'd like to implement this but I cannot find an API to help me out or some sample code. Note this UI pattern is discussed in the YouTube video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1ZBjlCRfz0 at time 15:35. Does anyone have an implementation of this or know what google's standard for adding this to an application?

  • Mac - Flash file not loaded in independent flash player

    - by Mugdha
Hi, I am working on an independent application to play flash files on Mac. I have already done the same for Linux, and it works flawlessly but on mac for some reason flash is not drawing to my window. It is not throwing any kind of error too. I am using Flash player 10, that would mean that I am using the Core Graphics drawing model. I am able to send mouse events to flash and wrote a sample plugin to check if there was a problem in the context that I was sending, but my sample plugin draws properly to the window. I am getting a call for NPN_InvalidateRect twice and as a response I send an update Event back to flash. I drew a dummy rectangle to check that my context is correct. I have flipped the context to make the origin as top left corner. On doing right click on the debug version of the flash player it shows the following message: "Movie not loaded..." Can anyone give me any idea why is the content not being drawn? I would really appreciate the help, as I have been struggling with it for more than a month now. • Help with POCO library (Shared memory)

    - by sevaxx
I was advised to use the POCO library for inter-process communication (IPC). Looks like a powerful library and there is some documentation in the code, but I would prefer a working example , since I am not very familiar with the IPC stuff. I 've been searching for some time now and I'm out of luck. If anyone has used POCO Shared Memory successfully in the past, I would love to see some sample code !
