  Hi All, I am developing a game in VB6 (plz don't ask me why :) ). The storyboard is ready and a rough implementation is underway. I am following a "pure-software-rendering" approach. (i.e. no DirectX, no openGL etc.) Amongst many others, the following "serious" problems exist: 2D alpha transparency reqd. to implement overlays. Parallax implementation to give depth-of-field illusion. Capturing mouse-scroll events globally (as in FPS-es; mapping them to changing weapon). Async sound play with absolute "near-zero-lag". Any ideas anyone. Please suggest any well documented library/ocx or sample-code. Plz do suggest solutions with good performance and as little overhead as possible. Also, anyone who has developed any games, and would be open to sharing her/his code would be highly appreciated. (any well-acknowledged VB games whose source-code i can study??) • Swapping content in a seperate div on hover

  I feel like this should work: $(".module .one").hover(function() { $("#viewport #one").addClass('red'); }); Basically I am hiding all the .children of "#viewport on load, then when a seperate element is hovered, in this case .module .one I want to change something on the corresponding viewport ID #viewport #one. Basic idea is a variable content window, where when a thumbnail or whatever I put in the modules swaps the content shown in the viewport. Something I am doing wrong? • toggleClass messing something up.

  Hi I am using playing around with the Pretty-checkboxes-plugin and have a problem. The plugin can be seen here http://aaronweyenberg.com/90/pretty-checkboxes-with-jquery As you can see, this uses two links to select and deselect. I want it to only use one link and then change the class to make it work the other way the next time it is clicked. It should be simple enough. I have been trying to get it working with toggleClass. The classes toggle just fine, but the rest of the code only works the first time it is run. All subsequent clicks just toggle the class og the link and nothing else. Does anyone have any idea why this is?

• Cannot clear the form after Submit using the Validation plugin in jQuery

  Hello, I an quite new to jQuery and I have a problem while trying to create a form. I am using the Validation plugin for validate the email (one the form's field). When I click the Submit button I want to call my own function because I want to save the data in an XML file. When I click the button in the beginning having all the form empty, I get no message for the field required. Also when the data are valid and I am doing the submit, the form does not become clear after the submit. If I deleted this script code, these actions are working properly but I can not save the data! • Why do I get empty request from the Jakarta Commons HttpClient?

  I have a problem with the Jakarta Commons HttpClient. Before my self-written HttpServer gets the real request there is one request which is completely empty. That's the first problem. The second problem is, sometimes the request data ends after the third or fourth line of the http request: POST / HTTP/1.1 User-Agent: Jakarta Commons-HttpClient/3.1 Host: 127.0.0.1:4232 For debugging I am using the Axis TCPMonitor. There every things is fine but the empty request. • jQuery Dialog - Remote Page Javascript not running in FF / Chrome

  Hey SO, I've created a page intended only to be opened via modal. This page contains a calendar of the User's favorite events...etc. I'm using the jQuery Dialog and FullCalendar plugins to do this. In IE, there is not issue...everything works fine. However, the Javascript on the remote page (Calendar.aspx) is never getting executed in FF or Chrome. Here's my code. • Eclipse Juno won't create Android Activity

  I downloaded Eclipse Juno Java EE edition and installed ADT plugin. I created a new Android Application Project from Eclipse and in the wizard I created an activity called TaskariActivity. After I pressed finish, it created the project but not the activity and the wizard didn't close. I pressed cancel. No activity or anything in the src folder. I created a new activity by right clicking on src, selecting new -> other -> Android -> activity. I selected BlankActivity (as earlier when I was creating the project), selected the earlier created project in the Project combo box. I set the Activity name as TaskariActivity, layout name as activity_main and title as TaskariActivity. Next I selected navigation type and I set it to Tabs + Swipe (I thought this would make me tabs and everything I had to do would be just inserting the elements and the actions for them). I pressed next, nothing happened. Finish didn't also do anything. I pressed cancel and an activity wasn't created. So, how can I create an Android application like in the earlier version of Eclipse? It automatically created the activity and it was ready be run out of the box. Now it won't generate any files and the new activity wizard doesn't work. Help?

  I paid somebody to build me a jQuery AJAX suggestion box script a while back. It works great. Now I'm trying to learn about it enough to modify it to do something different. Right now, the script that generates the suggestions just takes the query text and does the same check every time. Now, I want to be able to pass along additional info so different things are looked for with each instance of a search box. The HTML... simple, obvious. input class="suggest" name="q" type="text" autocomplete="off" / The jQuery looks like this: jQuery(document).ready(function() { $('.suggest').autocomplete( { source:'output.php', minLength:3, focus: function (event, ui) { $(event.target).val(ui.item.label); return false; } } ); [snip] } Instead of: source:'output.php', minLength:3, I'd like: source:'output.php?arg1=blah1&arg2=blah2', minLength:3, where arg1 and arg2 are passed along in the form... input class="suggest" name="q" type="text" autocomplete="off" / input type="hidden" name="arg1" value="blah1" input type="hidden" name="arg2" value="blah2" Does this make sense? • Multiple forms using Rails & jQuery & AJAX

  I have multiple coupons on a page and I'm trying to get comments to work on each coupon. So for each coupon i have a comments form. Im using jQuery + Ajax to accomplish this. Here's what my code looks like. What can I change to make it so ajax submits the correct form and not the first one?

  I am trying to use 2 instances of the jquery selector UI on my site and it won't seem to work with anything besides '#selectable' as the ordered list id.   Hi I would like to see if I can make a "search as you type" implementation, against a web service, that is optimized enough for it to run on an iPhone. The idea is that the user starts typing a word; "Foo", after each new letter I wait XXX ms. to see if they type another letter, if they don't, I call the web service using the word as a parameter. The web service call and the subsequent parsing of the result I would like to move to a different thread. I have written a simple SearchWebService class, it has only one public method: - (void) searchFor:(NSString*) str; This method tests if a search is already in progress (the user has had a XXX ms. delay in their typing) and subsequently stops that search and starts a new one. When a result is ready a delegate method is called: - (NSArray*) resultsReady; I can't figure out how to get this functionality 'threaded'. If I keep spawning new threads each time a user has a XXX ms. delay in the typing I end up in a bad spot with many threads, especially because I don't need any other search, but the last one. Instead of spawning threads continuously, I have tried keeping one thread running in the background all the time by: - (void) keepRunning { NSAutoreleasePool *pool = [[NSAutoreleasePool alloc] init]; SearchWebService *searchObj = [[SearchWebService alloc] init]; [[NSRunLoop currentRunLoop] run]; //keeps it alive [searchObj release]; [pool release]; } But I can't figure out how to access the "searchFor" method in the "searchObj" object, so the above code works and keeps running. I just can't message the searchObj or retrieve the resultReady objects? Hope someone could point me in the right direction, threading is giving me grief:) Thank you.

  Just wondering if anyone can provide some basic advice on an accordion I'm trying to simplify. Got a working version, but it seems way overly complex. But it shows all of the child ul's when any parent li is hovered, and it hide's all the child ul's when unhovered. Just not sure how I can get it to A.) Only .show the li ul when that specific li is hovered. And B.) Hide the show'n li ul only when another one is hovered (not itself). Example + explanation would be especially helpful! Thanks!!

• How do I get jQuery's Uploadify plugin to work with ASP.NET MVC?

  I'm in the process of trying to get the jQuery plugin, Uploadify, to work with ASP.NET MVC. I've got the plugin showing up fine: With the following javascript snippet: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function() { $('#fileUpload').fileUpload({ 'uploader': '/Content/Flash/uploader.swf', 'script': '/Placement/Upload', 'folder': '/uploads', 'multi': 'true', 'buttonText': 'Browse', 'displayData': 'speed', 'simUploadLimit': 2, 'cancelImg': '/Content/Images/cancel.png' }); }); </script> Which seems like all is well in good. If you notice, the "script" attribute is set to my /Placement/Upload, which is my Placement Controller and my Upload Action. The main problem is, I'm having difficulty getting this action to fire to receive the file. I've set a breakpoint on that action and when I select a file to upload, it isn't getting executed. I've tried changing the method signature based off this article: public string Upload(HttpPostedFileBase FileData) { /* * * Do something with the FileData * */ return "Upload OK!"; } But this still doesn't fire. Can anyone help me write and get the Upload controller action's signature correctly so it will actually fire? I can then handle dealing with the file data myself. I just need some help getting the method action to fire.

• Service Bus / Request Forwarding

  I'm doing some development with a thrid party that issues either a Get or POST to a public URL that I specify. What I would like to do is set up a Relay service on the Azure Service Bus that my dev machine can listen to. When the request comes in, I want to forward that request as if my web service was taking the request directly from the thrid party service. When I'm ready, I'll deploy the application to a public service, change the URL that the thrid party service is sending too, and viola I should be up and running. What I'm looking for looks exactly like this: Clemens the Master of Service Bus but it's from the 2009 CTP. I'm working at it, but haven't yet got it working using all the new bits in 2012 (a.ka. its over my head at the moment). Somebody want to help? Clemens also help somebody else create a Reverse Proxy using the Service Bus, but I can't seem to find it. Yes I've also tweeted Clemens, but I'm sure he is a busy man! p.s. I know about Application Request Routing, but my dev machine is not on a public URL, I need to rewrite the URL after my client listener on the service bus recieves the message that was relayed from the Server side endpoint.

• JQuery error in IE, works with FF. Maybe a problem with live.

  Hello. I have an ASP.net MVC2 application. In wich I'm using JQuery to alter all table rows so I can click anywhere in any row to trigger a click event on a link in the clicked row. The tables is created using MVC's built in partialview ajax. In IE, JQuery crashes when I click on a row. If I debug the page in IE. I get this. • Problem with OnSubmit in Validation plugin in jQuery

  Hello, I an quite new to jQuery and I have a problem while trying to create a form. I am using the Validation plugin for validate the email (one the form's field). When I click the Submit button I want to call my own function because I want to save the data in an XML file. When I click the button in the beginning having all the form empty, I get no message for the field required. Also when the data are valid and I am doing the submit, the form does not become clear after the submit. If I deleted this script code, these actions are working properly but I can not save the data! I've tried .attr('checked', 'checked') and .attr({ checked: true }) and .attr('checked', true) but nothing is ever selected.

• Resize my Google Map API

  I am new to JS, and have found the answer to a previous question, which brought up a new question, which brought me here again. I have a Reveal Modal that contains a Google Map API. When a button is clicked, the Reveal Modal pops up, and displays the Google Map. My problem is that only a third of the map is displaying. This is because a resize trigger needs to be implemented. My question is how do I implement the google.maps.event.trigger(map, 'resize')? Where do I place this little snippet of code?
