    I have front end rails app, that reverse proxies to any of a number of backend rails apps depending on URL, for example http://www.my_host.com/app_one reverse proxies to http://www.remote_host_running_app_one.com such that a URL like http://www.my_host.com/app_one/users will display the contents of http://www.remote_host_running_app_one.com/users I have a large, and ever expanding number of backends, so they can not be explicitly listed anywhere other than a database. This is no problem for mod_rewrite using a prg:/ rewrite map reverse proxy. The question is, the urls returned by rails helpers have the form /controller/action making them absolute to the root. This is a problem for the page served by mod_rewrite because links on the proxied page appear as absolute to the domain. i.e.: http://www.my_host.com/app_one/controller/action has links that end up looking like /controller/action/ when they need to look like /app_one/controller/action Is there a way to fix this server-side, so that the links will be routed correctly?

That directory is currently empty. With the vhosts file the way it is, does the Directory directive have any effect at all? I want to add some content which is separate from the Drupal site. How do I add sub-directories within /var/www/bananas.net/ which can be accessed alongside the Drupal site running at the root? As they have nothing to do with the Drupal site, I want to keep the files separate, but still using the same domain.

    I have a full-blown site like: http://www.example.com (uses index.php) http://www.example.com/scriptA.php http://www.example.com/scriptB.php I now want to have the possibility of setting up subsites like: http://alpha.example.com http://alpha.example.com/scriptA.php http://alpha.example.com/scriptB.php From http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2844004/subdomain-url-rewriting-and-web-apps/2844033#2844033 , I understand that I have to do: RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^([^./]+)\.example\.com$ RewriteCond %1 !=www RewriteRule ^ index.php?domain=%1 But what about the other scripts like scriptA and scriptB? How do I tell httpd.conf to handle those properly as well?     I need to redirect CakePHP installation host to my domain. Location of my Cakephp installation: myhosting.com/newsite/ Domain: www.mydomain.com I'm currently using URL Frame to direct www.mydomain.com to myhosting.com/newsite/. Problem When I load www.mydomain.com, I see all links in the site is pointing to the hosting location - example - myhosting.com/newsite/product/1 It should be pointing to www.mydomain.com/product/1 Any simple way to fix this? Probably very simple to solve it, but I can't bend it. Help much appreciated.

    My site, www.example.com has a MyBB forum installation, and has many users constantly checking it out. I would like to make a major change to it - basically, I want to delete everything it has and start clean. However, this rebuilding process may take me hours since I need to do a lot of things. Thus, whenever an user tries to enter any part of my site (www.example.com, www.example.com/blog etc), the user will always be redirected to www.example.com/underconstruction so they can see a nice HTML site explaining the current situation. But not only that - while I am configuring my site, I need to visit it myself to make sure things do work live. So basically, it has to redirect everyone who isn't me. Is that possible in any way? I am using GoDaddy hosting.

  • JMeter: how to asign a single distinct value from CSV Data Set Config to each thread in thread group?

    I have to make a load test for a relatively large number of users so I cant realy use User Parameters pre-processor to parametrize each thread with custom user data. I've read that I should use CSV Data Set Config instead. However I run into a problem with how JMeter interprets the input of this Config. Example: I have a thread group of 3 threads and Loop Count:10 with one HTTP request sampler with server www.example.com and path: \${user}. The csv file (bullet is a single line in file) for CSV Data Set Config to extract the user parameter: 1 2 3 4 5 Expected output is that for thread 1-x the path of the request should be: \x. So the output file should consist of 10 samples per thread namely: for thread 1-1 : 10 requests to www.example.com\1 for thread 1-2 : 10 requests to www.example.com\2 for thread 1-3 : 10 requests to www.example.com\3 but instead i get requests to each \1 - \5 and then to EOF. Does anyone know how to achieve the expected effect with CSV Data Set Config in jmeter 2.9?

    I have an Ubuntu server running three separate Rails (2.3.8) applications with Passenger, REE and Apache. Recently we started experiencing problems with ruby processes eating up memory and consuming entire cores on our server. Here's what we're getting... %CPU PID USER COMMAND 99.9 1717 nobody Rails: /var/www/api 99.6 5542 nobody Rails: /var/www/api 97.3 1223 nobody Rails: /var/www/api 4.7 5537 nobody Passenger ApplicationSpawner: /var/www/api 10.5 1801 nobody Rails: /var/www/api We've also seen instances where there have been over 100 instances of Apache running. These applications have been running for a few months without an of these issues, but in the last day or so we've been noticing this. The site referenced here is a Rails application that is a RESTful API so it serves many requests every minute. Any guidance on what we should be checking or looking out for would be appreciated.

    I'm working on WampServer for development, I've set up the domain tuniguide.local and it works fine with this configuration: DocumentRoot "D:\www\tuniguide" ServerName tuniguide.local But when I wanted to add a subdomain fr.tuniguide.local I get a 404 Not Found with this configuration: DocumentRoot "D:\www\tuniguide\fr" ServerName fr.tuniguide.local It gives me this message: The requested URL /www/tuniguide/index.php was not found on this server.     Our company has developed a Single Page Application using AngularJS and its routing. Google indexed our site decently with JavaScript but it did not index some pages very well so we have developed an HTML only version. We have followed the Ajax Crawling Specification posted here and have a <meta name='fragment' content='!'> tag and canonical urls. We expect http://www.example.com/foo/bar to be fetched from http://www.example.com/?_escaped_fragment_=/foo/bar. However, we have found out that when we rolled the AJAX specification we now have all pages indexed twice, once with the JavaScript version as http://www.example.com/foo/bar and once with the new version as http://www.example.com/#!/foo/bar. This is harmful to us since it's duplicate content and also mis-representing out site. I have tried looking for similar questions here and in the Google product forum but could not come up with anything.

  • Can't Make Changes via FTP on my Ubuntu Server

    I'm very new to server management, I literally just set this up for the first time a couple weeks ago, no idea what I'm doing. In order to allow WordPress to run updates, apparently everything needs to be owned by www-data, but if everything is owned by www-data, I can't FTP with the user revxx14. When I try, I can't make any changes (deletions, additions, updating files, nothing. I get permission denied errors across the board). Is there a way to give my user the same permissions as www-data, so that I'll be able to keep www-data the owner, but still be able to make changes via FTP? Thanks.

I am doing a 301 redirect in my WP application using .htaccess and have mapped some of the URLs which have either been removed from the new domain or the URL structure has been changed. While doing I got a doubt I have following URL structure in my .htaccess file RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^old.com$ [OR] RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.old.com$ RewriteRule ^tag/waiting$ http://www.new.com/tag/relationships [R=301,L] while checking this i found that at some places URL is like http://www.new.com/tag/relationships while at others its like http://www.new.com/tag/relationships/, while both refer to the same location but not sure if this will make any difference to SEO and search engines. Please suggest if the way i am doing mapping is correct or do i need to modify it to handle both UR

The permission has been changed to the following: -rwxr-x--- 1 www-data www-data 294 2012-06-25 10:17 function.php -rwxr-x--- 1 www-data www-data 0 2012-06-25 09:53 log.txt The permission is set to 750. when I call function.php, I receive the following error message fopen(log.txt): failed to open stream: Permission denied This is the line : $fp = fopen("log.txt","a"); I am very confused. I have php and the file to be written both under www-data now, so why would there be any permission problem? Please help
