    Possible Duplicate: Is it possible for a Perl subroutine to force its caller to return? I want to write a subroutine which causes the caller to return under certain conditions. This is meant to be used as a shortcut for validating input to a function. What I have so far is: sub needs($$) { my ($condition, $message) = @_; if (not $condition) { print "$message\n"; # would like to return from the *parent* here } return $condition; } sub run_find { my $arg = shift @_; needs $arg, "arg required" or return; needs exists $lang{$arg}, "No such language: $arg" or return; # etc. } The advantage of returning from the caller in needs would then be to avoid having to write the repetitive or return inside run_find and similar functions.

    Maps collection is referred to an dictionary because of the way it works. Each entry into a maps collection involves a pair of objects. In a maps collection, an object associates the key which determines where the object is stored in the map. The key object in the maps collection can be duplicated. A stack which has Last In First Out storage mechanism can be considered as a maps collection. I think #1,#2,#3 and #5 are Correct in above, but I have doubt with #5. Am I correct?

    Heh, that's something that many plugin authors do without needing help, isn't it? :) Here's the rub -- I'm coding a jQuery plugin which I have the intent to sell. I want to provide a live demo of it; of course, I don't want anyone just using the demo code. I know it's dumb, and it certainly doesn't bring any good karma, but what are some naughty things I can do in the demo script that would make life reasonably difficult for anyone trying to use it? Setting undefined = true comes to mind, as well as overriding jQuery methods. Any suggestions beyond that?

    I have n humans of THuman class Each human has scored some points in one of two rounds. (score1 and score2) Each human has its unique id. Score1 and 2 are also unique. Besides, a human has a score_t=score1+score2, which can be the same for two of them. I need to implement 6 variables to THuman which return id of a human with: bigger score1 smaller score1 bigger score2 smaller score2 bigger score_t smaller score_t (if there are many humans those satisfy theese conditions, the one with smallest difference of corresponding parameter should be chosen (like score1 for 1 and 2)) In other words, it's some kind of storing 3 human sortings. Two more functions I need should get argument x, set score1 or score 2 to x, and then refresh some of the 6 variables above. If I needed sorting by only one variable, I would simply create set and defined and < operators for my class. But what is the solution for three of parameters? Is it possible to use STL here, or I should create my own lists/treaps? __ Answer: How to update set of pointers c++?

  • What language should I write my 2D game in? [closed]

    I'm thinking of writing a game. It's inspired by Minecraft/Terraria (but don't worry it will be different). My main question is what language I should write it in -- it'll be relatively simple graphics, more like Terraria than Minecraft. I know Java relatively well and Minecraft is written in it, but C++ seems like the industry standard for game development. However, I know next to no C++. I'm willing to learn but am worried how it will turn out for my first real project in the language. In addition to that, I'd also like suggestions on a good game engine for the language that you suggest. I'd like it to run on: Windows for sure Linux for sure Mac for sure Android would be really nice iOS is optional Thank you in advance!

  • How to learn programming language (syntax rules, etc.) and remember easily? [closed]

    I'm new to programming, and I always have a so call difficulty, that is, I always tend to forget the thing (syntax, rules, name, definition or anyting) of a programming language I've learnt. And I personally do feel that the way I learn it is wrong. Here is my method. Everyday I will spend approximately 1 or 2 hours on a programming e-book. I just follow the syllabus and teaching inside the books, of course I have try to code myself, alter the code inside the book, and did the exercises available. But everytime right after I finish a chapter and advanced myself to third or fourth chapter, I will forgot something I learnt in the first chapter. Is it the method I use wrong? Does learning through reading and coding not enough? Do I need to everytime make a small note (mind map for example) of things I've learnt by hand writing? Or do I sometime need to try coding using a pencil and a book, but not a computer?

    I would like to know the average days between open and close dates for an item with a close date in a particular month. So from the below example in Jan 2013 items 2,5 and 6 were closed (Closed can be RESOLVED or CANCELLED status), each were open for 26, 9 and 6 days respectivly. So of the jobs that have a closed date in Jan 2013 (between 01/01/2013 and 13/02/13) they have an average open time (between open and close date) of 13.67 days to 2dp. I have tried a few ways to get this to work and i think the issue I am having is with the AVERAGE function. First time using a forum so apologies if my question is unclear.     I have extended a webapplication in a farm. main server vsmoss1 where i did vsmoss1 ->webapplication(80) vm.com -> extended web app(of above one)anonymous WFE server name vsmoss2 WFE server name vsmoss3 i have load balanced it to got to vsmoss2 and vsmoss3 when someone hits vm.com when i hit vm.com it works fine without authentication(shows content query webpart also on my page) I know there is no need to do that but when I hit vsmoss2 and vsmoss3 it shows me error on my content query webpart ....any solution for that? Finding this strange tried this : I closed both extended webapp in vsmoss2 and vsmoss3 result: site is up and running but this time with authentication I closed both extended and main webapplication site in vsmoss2 and vsmoss3 is down I closed main webapplication in vsmoss2 and vsmoss3 site is up and running without authentication Anyone is having idea why this is showing behaviour like this...?

    I need a good multi monitor tool mainly to gain control over the windows positioning. I have problem that closed window/application remembers at which monitors it was (closed). I have disconnect this monitor (this is often LCD TV) I have problem with this "remembering" windows/applications that was closed in LCD TV are out of sight when LCD TV is disconnected. What is the best practice to deal with this problem other that that not to close windows on this monitor)? Are there any good multi-monitor software to deal with this?
