ASP.NET catching controls from html generated from the database

I have a set of websites that basically do the exact same thing in terms of functionality, the only thing that varies is the css and how the html is laid out. Is there a way to generate the html from a database (ie retreiving the html from a table) and then catching the controls (like buttons, textboxes etc) from the code behind? How can I let the method know which collection it should be adding to? Thanks.

Newbie question: undefined local variable or method , why??

I am new in Rails (I am using Rails 3.0.3), currently I am following the book "Agile Web Development with Rails" to develop a simple rails application. I followed the book to: --create a model 'Cart' class; --implement 'add_to_cart' method in my 'store_controller', I have a line of code <%=button_to "Add to Cart", :action => add_to_cart, :id => product %> in my /store/index.html.erb As you see, there is :action => add_to_cart in my index.html.erb, which will invoke the add_to_cart method in my *Controllers/store_controller.rb* But after I refresh the browser, I got the error "undefined local variable or method 'add_to_cart'", apparently I do have the method add_to_cart in my 'store_controller.rb', why I got this error??? What is the possible cause??? How to have current page selection using inludes navigation

I am using php includes to limit redundancy on my pages, how can I have my navigation have the current page selected with say a certain color for the HOME button when my navigation is called from a header.php file. If i were to say to add a "active" class to the home.php item and add a style so it looked different, that would happen across the board for all my pages, which is why I am using includes in the first place, how can I have one header.php file with my navigation, that also allows each page the ability to show the current page you are on reflected in the navigation? What is wrong with the JavaScript event handling in this example? (Using click() and hover() jQuery

I'm working on a sort of proof-of-concept for a project that approximates Firebug's inspector tool. For more details, please see this related question. Here is the example page. I've only tested it in Firefox: http://troy.onespot.com/static/highlight.html The idea is that, when you're mousing over any element that can contain text, it should "highlight" with a light gray background to indicate the boundaries of that element. When you then click on the element, it should alert() a CSS selector that matches it. This is somewhat working in the example linked above. However, there's one fundamental problem. When mousing over from the top of the page to the bottom, it will pick up the paragraphs, <h1> element, etc. But, it doesn't get the <div>s that encompass those paragraphs. However, for example, if you "sneak up" on the <div> that contains the two paragraphs "The area was settled..." and "Austin was selected..." from the left - tracing down the left edge of the page and entering the <div> just between the two paragraphs (see this screenshot) - then it is picked up. I assume this has something to do with the fact that I haven't attached an event handler to the <body> element (where you're entering the <div> from if you enter from the left), but I have attached handlers to the <p>s (where you're entering from if you come from the top or bottom). There are also other issues with mousing in and out elements - background colors that "stick" and the like - that I think are also related. As indicated in the related question posted above, I suspect there is something about event bubbling that I don't understand that is causing unexpected behavior. Can anyone spot what's wrong with my code? Thanks in advance for any help!

ImageButton OnClick Event not firing

Hi All, I am really confused about this one. I have some code that runs fine on my development server but I am now trying to get the site working on the sales guys new laptop. None of the image buttons on the website seem to be working for him (they just redirect me back to the websites homepage) whereas they used to on his previous machine. The only difference between each machine is that his old one was Vista and the new one is Windows 7. Has anyone come accross this issue? How to change scope data in controller?

I am a real newbie at angular. I created something now which will let me retrieve and add items via angular and get/put them in mongodb. I use express and mongoose in the app The question is, how can i modify the data before it reaches the DOM in the controller. In this example i have created a way to retrieve data, and i get it exactly as it is stored in mongodb. What i would like is that the field where i store 1 or 0 in the database, to be shown as text. So if mongo has a value 1 i get "the value in mongo is 1" and when the field has a value of 0 get "the value is zero". (just as an example, i like other texts, but it illustrate what i want) I post my controller, html and current output. Any help would be appreciated. Hi guys, I'm creating a gallery of images pulled in via a twitter image hosting service, and I want to show a loading graphic before they are displayed, but the logic seems to be failing me. I'm trying to do it the following way: <ul> <li> <div class="holder loading"> </div> </li> <li> <div class="holder loading"> </div> </li> <li>...</li> <li>...</li> </ul> Where there "loading" class has an animated spinner set as it's background image. JQuery: $('.holder').each(function(){ var imgsrc = http://example.com/imgsrc; var img = new Image(); $(img).load(function () { $(this).hide(); $(this).parent('.holder').removeClass('loading'); $(this).parent().append(this); $(this).fadeIn(); }) .error(function () { }).attr('src', imgsrc); }); Which isn't working - I'm not sure that the logic is correct and how to access the "holder" from inside the img.load nested function. What would be the best way to build this gallery so that the images display only after they've been loaded?

Hello, I was looking at the pagination script (posted below) and found it to be gros,s and not very good at all especially when trying to customize it. I am trying to put something like this on a separate page like count_page.php and then just include it. I guess my question is, if there is a better way of doing the above with better structure. A better way to go through the db and count the results and display the appropriate numbers. The above seems messy. Thanks for any help or suggestions on this.

Global and local variables in my script

I'm starting out learning javascript, and tried to write a little script that would make a grid of divs on a page. What should I be doing differently? Why can't makerow() see my global leftPos variable (and all the other variables for that matter)? Thanks.

jQuery Dialog - Remote Page Javascript not running in FF / Chrome

Hey SO, I've created a page intended only to be opened via modal. This page contains a calendar of the User's favorite events...etc. I'm using the jQuery Dialog and FullCalendar plugins to do this. In IE, there is not issue...everything works fine. However, the Javascript on the remote page (Calendar.aspx) is never getting executed in FF or Chrome. Here's my code. jquery: How to completely remove a dialog on close

When an ajax operation fails, I create a new div with the errors and then show it as a dialog. When the dialog is closed I would like to completely destroy and remove the div again. How can I do this? My code looks something like this at the moment: $('<div>We failed</div>') .dialog( { title: 'Error', close: function(event, ui) { $(this).destroy().remove(); } }); When I run this the dialog box shows up correctly, but when I close it the dialog is still visible in the html (using FireBug). What am I missing here? Something I have forgotten? Update: Just noticed my code gives me an error in the firebug console. $(this).destroy is not a function Anyone able to help me out? Update: If I do just $(this).remove() instead, the item is removed from the html. But is it completely removed from the DOM? Or do I somehow need to call that destroy function first as well?

How do you deal with naming conventions for rails partials?

For example, I might have an partial something like: <div> <%= f.label :some_field %><br/> <%= f.text_field :some_field %> </div> which works for edit AND new actions. I also will have one like: <div> <%=h some_field %> </div> for the show action. So you would think that all your partials go under one directory like shared or something. The problem that I see with this is that both of these would cause a conflict since they are essentially the same partial but for different actions so what I do is:  <%= render "shared_edit/some_partial" ... %>  <%= render "shared_show/some_partial" ... %> How do you handle this? Is a good idea or even possible to maybe combine all of these actions into one partial and render different parts by determining what the current action is?

Hi, i have following problem, i am using a popup jquery dialog with asp:formview . the purpose of this popup is for user to enter a hyperlink which is placed then in textbox control in formview the popup dialog div is located outside a formview just after body tag <body style="background-color: #FFFFFF; font-family:Lucida Console;"> <div id="dialog-form" title="sdfdfsdf" style="font-size:14px; "> <form> <fieldset> <label for="link">sdfdf</label> <input type="text" name="sdfsdf" id="link" size="32" /> </fieldset> </form> </div> <form id="form1" runat="server" style="margin-top:50px;" > <div> <asp:FormView ID="FormView1" ....... <InsertItemTemplate> ... <sometextbox ...../> <button id="create-user" class="ui-state-default ui-corner-all">Create link</button> ... </InsertItemTemplate> After clicking a button a popup window is shown BUT the page starts to refresh immidiately ((( and ofc popup s hidden after that if relocate the button outside the formview - the page is not refreshed, but i need it in formview.. any ideas what to do?

MVC4 - how to vaildate a drop down list?

I have a .Net MVC4 model / view with a number of [Required] fields, one of which is selected via a drop down list, "Content_CreatedBy" [the first code block below]. Client side validation fires on all fields except the DDL [although server side validation does not allow no entry in DDL]. I have tried validating on the DDL text as well its numeric value but niether fire on the client side. Can anyone see what I am doing wrong?
