  • How to remove/hide Atomikos startup error message?

    When Atomikos is configured via Spring, a jta.properties or transactions.properties file is not needed. Nonetheless, Atomikos starts up with the follow messages printed to stderr: No properties path set - looking for transactions.properties in classpath... transactions.properties not found - looking for jta.properties in classpath... Failed to open transactions properties file - using default values It makes it look like the Spring configuration didn't take -- although apparently everything is fine. Does anyone know how to get rid of this so I don't end up getting asked about it 1.000 times?

  • Fluent NHibernate: Entity from one table, but reference will map to another tables?

    Given the following tables: Product ----------- ProductId : int (PK) ProductVersion : int ProductHistory ----------- ProductId : int (PK) ProductVersion : int (PK) Item ----------- ItemId : int (PK) ProductId : int (FK) -- ProductId + ProductVersion relates to ProductHistory ProductVersion : int (FK) And the following classes: public class Product { } public class Item { public Product Product { get; set; } } What I want to happen is this; we get a Product from the Product table, assign it to Item.Product property. But that Item.Product property should map to ProductHistory. The idea is that only the latest version of a product is in the main Product table, so we allow customers to search against that table (so that if each product has 4 versions and there are 1000 products, we only need to query though 1000 products, not 1000 products * 4 versions of each). Any idea how to acomplish this? Thanks Andy

  • CQRS - Should a Command try to create a "complex" master-detail entity?

    I've been reading Greg Young and Udi Dahan's thoughts on Command Query Responsibilty Separation and a lot of what I read strikes a chord with me. My domain (we track vehicles which are doing deliveries) has the concept of a Route which contains one or more Stops. I need my customers to be able to set these up in our system by calling a webservice, and then be able to retrieve information about a Route and how the vehicle is progressing. In the past I would have "cut-down" DTO classes which closely resemble my domain classes, and the customer would create a RouteDto with an array of StopDto(s), and call our CreateRoute webmethod, passing in the RouteDto. When they query our system by calling the GetRouteDetails method, I would return exactly the same objects to them. One of the appealing aspects of CQRS is that the RouteDto might have all manner of properties that the customer wants to query, but have no business setting when they create a Route. So I create a separate CreateRouteRequest class which is passed in when calling the CreateRoute "command", and a Route DTO class which gets returned as a query result. class Route{ string Reference; List<Stop> Stops; } But I need my customer to provide me with Route AND Stop details when they create a route. As I see it I could either... Give my CreateRouteRequest class a Stops(s) property which is an array of "something" representing the data they need to provide about each stop - but what do I call this class? It's not a Stop as that's what I'm calling the list of DTO inside my Route DTO, but I don't like "CreateStopRequest". I also wonder if I'm stuck in a CRUD mindset here thinking in terms of master-detail information and asking the customer to think like that too. class CreateRouteRequest{ string Reference; ... List<CreateStopRequest> Stops; } or They call CreateRoute, and then make a number of calls to an AddStopToRoute method. This feels a bit more "behavioural" but I'm going to lose the ability to treat creating a route including its stops as a single atomic command. If they create a Route and then try to add a Stop which fails due to some validation problem they're going to have a partially correct Route. The fact that I can't come up with a good name for the list of "StopCreationData" objects I'd be working with in option 1, makes me wonder if there's something I'm missing.

    Hi guys, is there a simple way to persist some of the fields in another class and table using hibernate. For example, I have a Person class with name, surname, email, address1, address2, city, country fields. I want my classes to be: public class Person { private String name; private String surname; private String email; private Address address; // .. } public class Address { private Person person; // to whom this belongs private String address1; private String address2; private String city; private Address country; // .. } and I want to store Address in another table. What is the best way to achieve this? Edit: I am using annotations. It does not have to be the way I described, I am looking for best practices. PS. If there is a way to make Address immutable (to use as a value object) that is even better, or maybe not because I thought everything from wrong perspective :)

    I'm developing an application for the iPhone that has inApp-mail sending capabilities. So far so good, but now I want to avoid html-injections as some parts of the mail are user-generated texts.   • Latex multicols. Can I group content so it won't split over cols and/or suggest colbreaks?

    Hi. I'm trying to learn LaTeX. I've been googling this one for a couple days, but I don't speak enough LaTeX to be able to search for it effectively and what documentation I have found is either too simple or goes way over my head (http://www.uoregon.edu/~dspivak/files/multicol.pdf) I have a document using the multicol package. (I'm actually using multicols* so that the first col fills before the second begins instead of trying to balance them, but I don't think that's relevant here.) The columns output nicely, but I want to be able to indicate that some content won't be broken up into different columns. For instance, aaaaaaaa bbbbbbb aaaaaaaa bbbbbbb aaaaaaaa ccccccc bbbbbbbb ccccccc That poor attempt at ascii art columns is what's happening. I'd like to indicate that the b block is a whole unit that shouldn't be broken up into different columns. Since it doesn't fit under the a block, the entirety of the b block should be moved to the second column. Should b be wrapped in something? Is there a block/float/section/box/minipage/paragraph structure I can use? Something specific to multicol? Alternatively is there a way that I can suggest a columnbreak? I'm thinking of something like \- that suggests a hyphenated line break if its convenient, but this would go between blocks. Thanks!

  • PHP: best practice. Do i save html tags in DB or store the html entity value?

    Hi Guys, I was wondering about which way i should do the following. I am using the tiny MCE wysiwyg editor which formats the users data with the right html tags. Now, i need to save this data entered into the editor into a database table. Should i encode the html tags to their corresponding entities when inserting into the DB, then when i get the data back from the table, not have the encode it for XSS purposes but i'd still have to use eval for the html tags to format the text. OR Do i save the html tags into the database, then when i get the data back from the database encode the html tags to their entities, but then as the tags will appear to the user, i'd have to use the eval function to actually format the data as it was entered. My thoughts are with the first option, i just wondered on what you guys thought. Thanks M

    Hello everybody, I have two tables: A & B B { B1: Field1, B2: Field2, ... } A { Children: List of B, A1: Field1, A2: Field2, } I want to retrieve "A" entities with related "B" entities like this: DataContext.A.Select( a = new MySubset( A1 = a.A1, Children = a.Children.Select(b = b.B1).ToList()); But EF can't translate ToList into SQL, so i have to call ToList() per each instance in query producing additional network call.     Hi, everyone: I am also open to just straight-up refactoring what I'm finding to be pretty repetitive, but to give a baseline of how it's working.... I have for every contact a Campaign, which has_many of three types of Models: Email, Call, and Letter. When an Email (Call or Letter) has been executed for a specific contact, I have a Contact_Email(_or_Call_or_Letter) which belongs to both the Contact and the Model (Email_or_Call_or_Letter). Each Contact_Email for example pairing has a :date_sent attribute. So does each Contact_Call and Contact_Letter. How do I find the latest of all of them?     I am using netbean and JSF to do my project, recently I encountered a problem that confused me. The question: There is a set of check box groups that identify the artifacts from the nature, creator, period and school. And all the artifacts are stored in a table of database. I would like to select the items by nature or creator or something like that, and generate a list for the items selected in the next page. There are some tables of database for artifacts, nature, creators and school, and the type_ID(this is the nature), creator_ID, school_ID are the foreign keys in artifacts table. I have bound the tables with respective check boxes. For example, if I want to select nature is painting, creator is Davinci, school is Italian Renaissance, and then I click Search button. It will go to next page that generate a list of artifacts about all Italian Renaissance paintings created by Davinci. How can I do that? I was confused by JSF, but I have to use JSF to do my project.   • How can I intelligently group rows of integers for a faceted search?

    I'm not even quite sure what terms I should be using for what I want, so any advice on what I'm even asking for would be very welcome. Basically, my web site lists user-generated accommodations. Each has a rent price, which users will be able to query in our new faceted search box. Users search by city, and within each city I'd like to present a different rent grouping. That is to say that in City #1, if we have listings ranging from $200 - $1000, I'd like to present checkboxes for: less than $300 $301 - $500 $501 - $700 more than $700 However, if City #2 has values that range from $500 - $1500, I want the ranges above to change accordingly. So, if I say that I want 5 or 6 range options in each city, I think I have two options: Take the min and max values and just split the difference. I don't like this idea because one listing with a rent of $10,000 will throw the whole scale off. Intelligently calculate the ranges using means, medians etc. Number 2 is what I need help with. I'm a web developer that gets logic, but was never strong on math and statistics at school. Can anyone point me towards a guide that'll help me figure this out?

  • Attach an entity that is not new, perhaps having been loaded from another DataContext. LINQ to SQL -

    Alright How I got this error I got one application sitting on a server 2 users accessing this application - doing some bulk data processing . eg. entering values and then the application is working with another system to extract values for them and then saving. I can't recreate the error The error logs show: The error happend at the same time in both the application Both happend on a Attach/Submit (but two different functions) There is no way they are using the same DataContext object as I save the DataContext in the HttpContext.Items My hunch / guess is: One datacontext was not refreshed i.e. the an object was created for the same item twice as it was new in both the forms. eg. Customer Number - a customer was created (as one couldn't be found) by one datacontext - the other one couldn't find it either (i am using compiled queries to find it in the datacontext) so it created another object and on attaching failed. The HttpContext.Items lost its value somehow (i am using a virtual pc as server - maybe something went wrong there) I am going more of the second as I can't recreate the error - but it just might be a timing (for attach/save) thing - also the error makes me think of the 2nd too.

    Hi, I want to create an extendible package I am writing that has Topology, Node & Relationship classes. The idea is these base classes would have the various methods in them necessary to base graph traversal methods etc. I would then like to be able to reuse this by extending the package. For example the base requirements might see Relationship with a parentNode & childNode. Topology would have a List of Nodes and List of Relationships. Topology would have methods like FindChildren(int depth). Then the usage would be to extend these such that additional attributes for Node and Relationships could be added etc. QUESTION - What would be the best approach to package & expose the base level classes/methods? (it's kind of like a custom collection but with multiple facets). Would the following concepts come into play: Interfaces - would this be a good idea to have ITopology, INode etc, or is this not required as the user would extend these classes anyway? Abstract Classes - would the base classes be abstract classes Custom Generic Collection - would some approach using this concept assist (but how would this work if there are the 3 different classes) thanks

  • Load Testing Java Web Application - find TPS / Avg transaction response time

    I would like to build my own load testing tool in Java with the goal of being able to load test a web application I am building throughout the development cycle. The web application will be receiving server to server HTTP Post requests and I would like to find its starting transaction per second (TPS) capacity along with the avgerage response time. The Post request and response messages will be in XML (I dont' think that's really applicable though :) ). I have written a very simple Java app to send transactions and count how many transactions it was able to send in one second (1000 ms) however I don't think this is the best way to load test. Really what I want is to send any number of transactions at exactly the same time - i.e. 10, 50, 100 etc. Any help would be appreciated!     I have a workflow that I want to looks something like this: / Worker 1 \ =Request Channel= - [Holding Queue|||] - Worker 2 - =Response Channel= \ Worker 3 / That is: Requests come in and they enter a FIFO queue Identical workers then pick up tasks from the queue At any given time any worker may work only one task When a worker is free and the holding queue is non-empty the worker should immediately pick up another task When tasks are complete, a worker places the result on the Response Channel I know there are QueueChannels in Spring Integration, but these channels require polling (which seems suboptimal). In particular, if a worker can be busy, I'd like the worker to be busy. Also, I've considered avoiding the queue altogether and simply letting tasks round-robin to all workers, but it's preferable to have a single waiting line as some tasks may be accomplished faster than others. Furthermore, I'd like insight into how many jobs are remaining (which I can get from the queue) and the ability to cancel all or particular jobs. How can I implement this message queuing/work distribution pattern while avoiding a polling? Edit: It appears I'm looking for the Message Dispatcher pattern -- how can I implement this using Spring/Spring Integration?
