  • how to recognize video codec of a file with ffmpeg

    I have often problems reading AVI file with my TV dvd player if they are not divx or xvid (DX50,i.e., is not readable). I'd like to make a fast script to recognize the video codec of these files before burn it on cdrom/dvd. The command : ffmpeg -i file.avi give the "container" of the video stream (mpeg4,mpeg2,etc), not the codec. Any hint? Thanks

  • Quicktime logo! Can it be hidden / disabled?

    Hi there, just wondering if it is possible to hide/disable the quicktime logo when displaying .MOV video on my site? Because the size of the video is large (3MB), I have included a rotating loading animation, however once the video player loads, the Quicktime logo hides the animation, which makes the user less likely in my opinion to wait for the movie to load?     Hello. I'm developing a Flash game in ActionScript 2, and the issue if that this game has to count the time securely. It can't count the time from the Date class because the Flash Player takes the time from the local computer, and the user can change the local time so the time reported would be fake. I haven't considerend to take the time from the server because there's a 3WH (3 way handshake) time and it would not be practical. What do you sugest me??

  • Windows Server 2003 - Handling hundreds of simultaneous downloads

    At the moment I have a single server with 4 1TB hard disks, daily I haver over 150 MP3 music files uploaded (around 80mb each). At busy periods there is over 300 people streaming / downloading these mixes all at once, 75% of the activity is on the most recently uploaded stuff which is all on a single hard disk. My read speads on the hard disk are very low due to such high activity of 200+ reads all happening at the same time on a single hard disk (ran some tests with HDTach). What would be a logical solution to solve this, a couple of ideas I had are: Load balance with another server Install faster hard disks (what are best these days? SCSI / SATA) Spread the most accessed files over the 4 drives so it is sharing the load between all 4 disks, instead of all the most accessed (most recent) all on the most recently installed drive. Obviouslly load balance is the most expensive option, but would it dramatically help? Some help on this situation would be great!

This is annoying when windows answers the phone before I even hear an audible ring and the hapless caller is saying, "hello. hello" on top of music I have playing. Does anyone know how to tell Windows not to answer the call? I want to be able to don my headset, switch audio to my headset, THEN manually answer the call.

  • How to bridge Debian guest VM to VPN via Cisco AnyConnect Client running on Windows Vista host

    I am running Cisco Anyconnect VPN Client version 2.5.3054 on a laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium (version 6.0.6002) Service Pack 2. I am running the VMware Player version 4.0.2 build-591240. The host operating system running under VMware Player is Debian 6.0.2.1 i386. The laptop is connected to a wireless connection, and I can browse the web from Windows Vista using Firefox just fine. I am able to boot into the Debian VM and open up a browser and access websites on the WAN from within the VM just fine. I can ping real Linux hosts on my LAN via: ping <lan_system>.local where <lan_system> is the hostname returned from uname -a on that system on my LAN. From a DOS CMD shell, I am able to ping hosts that exist on the remote network served by the Cisco AnyConnect Client's VPN network (and without the .local suffix applied as above): ping <remote_system> However, from within the Debian VM, I expect to be able to also ping those same remote hosts (<remote_system>) that are tunnelled over the VPN set up by Cisco AnyConnect Client. Let's say that I can ping a <remote_system> called flubber from a DOS CMD prompt just fine.   • Force Windows to output only mono sound

    So, the 'right' half of my pair of headphones broke (the transducer+wire are fine, but the earpiece broke on the headband and so the earpiece won't sit over my ear). So now the right channel is being broadcast to my cube neighbors when I wear my headphones. Yes, they look very silly. Is there a way to ensure, in Windows XP (or Windows Media Player), that all stereo sound is downmixed to the left channel only (ie, in mono) so my neighbors don't hear my music? I know that I can setup the mixer to set the balance to 100% left, but information in the right channel won't be heard.

  • dual boot xp/xp, now win7/xp getting no xp

    I have a laptop on which I have two drives with separate XP installs, one barebones for music production, the other "normal" XP with Office etc. (Unfortunately the bios won't give a boot disk choice) Normally I would be presented with two WinXPs on booting. Selecting the second one would get me into the "normal installation on disk 1 (C).Selecting the first in boot order would give me D: (disk 2) withe barebones XP. However, I installed Windows 7 Home onto disk 1 (C:), but there were no dual boot options anymore, even though I installed DualBoot Pro and added WinXP disk D:. The options now show show up, but seletcing Win XP just turns into a reboot back to where I started. Any help would be much appreciated

  • Restore deleted default folders

    I was tinkering with my new laptop and, on purpose, deleted those default folders in my "home" directory: "My Music", "Links", "Favorites". This, because, i decided i wanted all my data on another partition, leaving C: only for applications and configs files. But now, some of the explorer functionalities are gone: i cannot use the Favorites tree in the left side pane, also discovered that "My Documents" stores some PowerShell config file. I feel like i misunderstood this folders' purpose and by deleting them, provoked some Explorer instability. Is there any way to restore them? I do not seem to find it.     I'm looking at purchasing a Xbox360 because I've wanted to catch up with the Halo trilogy. Does the cheap Arcade edition console support Halo 2 Halo 3? Halo Wars? Would I be able to save my game progress in single player? Would I be able to play online in typical maps? General questions: Would I be able to play games using the DVD drive or do I have to download everything? Does the tiny HDD hurt even if I don't download any games, trailers or music? Are there any other differences in comparison to the Xbox360 Pro? I have a regular TV that uses the composite cable, so I don't need the HDTV support in the Pro edition.
