• Imap server woes with Android Gingerbread email and Thunderbird

  I run my own mail server and use UW's imapd/popd daemons to provide service. This week I just upgraded my OG Droid to a new Droid 3, running Android 2.3.4 (Gingerbread). The email client is much improved over the previous one. But now I have a bad interaction when I try to access email using imap from Thunderbird on a laptop or desktop. Frequently Thunderbird will stop receiving any email at all, and it will appear only on the Droid. Sometimes a Thunderbird restart will make the mail appear, but none of my "deletes" will be recorded, so when I start Thunderbird again, all my old email reappears. If I kill all of the open imap daemons and restart xinetd, I can force it to behave for maybe a session. I've tried turning off IDLE service (push email) on both sides, to no apparent avail. I've also tried installing DroidMail with the same result.

• Thunderbird 3.1.7 file system and file extensions

  I have lost all email messages and folders in my Thunderbird program. Where can I look for them? The messages were organized in folders for several years. My system is Windows XP. I have looked in the Thunderbird Profiles default profile folder. I can see Inbox and Trash but none of the other folders I have set up are visible. I cannot directly open Inbox or Trash so I don't know if my lost messages are in these folders. Others in the Community Forum seem to have the same problem but no one has answered them or me. Is there someone in this community who can help? Thank you, Sharon Bode

• Switch 302 redirect to 301 with Apache 2 ProxyPass in front of Tomcat 6

  I'm trying to optimise my site for SEO and it seems as though their is a 302 direct in action for the http requests. I'm hosting my app on a Tomcat 6 server which lies behind an Apache 2 server. I use the ProxyPass method (http://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-6.0-doc/proxy-howto.html) to forward all requests to port 8080 (the port my app is hosted on). I've seen a lot of advice on how to set the redirect type when using the VirtualHost method but none to do with ProxyPass. The app is a Struts app that forwards users on to index.jsp when they hit the base url. Could this also be the issue? I'm grateful for any help on this one! Cheers!

• How to delete folder of owner/group 99 99

  I am using wordpress with wp-super-cache plugin. This plugin automatically created a cache folder in my site for storing the cached files. But unusually it created folder with owner/group 99 99. It was created automatically. Due to this, i am not able to delete that folder or change the CHMOD of that folder. This really a headache. I searched google, but none gave me a good answer. Please help me delete or change the CHMOD of that folder ? I am on Linux server.

• What Commands Does Windows Startup Repair Run?

  Background: I created a wim image that we are planning to deploy to some of our computers, but when I image a computer with it from a flash drive it continually reports that the BOOTMGR is missing (and no, it's not booting off the flash drive). I am able to resolve this by running Windows Startup Repair, but I would rather just add whatever command is resolving the issue to a script that runs after the image. I have already tried running fixmbr, fixboot, rebuildbcd, and nt60, but none of those resolve the issue. Basically, I would like to know what exactly is being done when I run Windows Startup Repair.

• Jenkins projects not visible even though user has all privleges

  We want to lock down Jenkins and specific jobs to certain personnel. I have my account with all global privileges granted with project based matrix security. A coworker has a similar account and has been granted all the same privileges. When I log in with my account, I can see all of the projects we have setup. When my coworker whom has the exact same privileges logs in, none of the projects are visible. I've double and triple checked the permissions matrix to make sure we have the same global privileges; we do. Some of the projects have project specific privileges setup as well, but again; I've confirmed that both of us have the same access to these projects as well. So why can I see all the projects and my coworker is unable to see any of the projects?

• Elastic beanstalk access private git repo

  I am trying to currently add an ssh key to my elastic beanstalk instances using .ebextensions commands. The keys I have stored are in my application code and I try to copy them to the root .ssh folder so I can access them when doing a git+ssh clone later here is an example of the config file in my .ebextensions folder packages: yum: git: [] container_commands: 01-move-ssh-keys: command: "cp .ssh/* ~root/.ssh/; chmod 400 ~root/.ssh/tca_read_rsa; chmod 400 ~root/.ssh/tca_read_rsa.pub; chmod 644 ~root/.ssh/known_hosts;" 02-add-ssh-keys: command: "ssh-add ~root/.ssh/tca_read_rsa" the problem is that I get is an error when attempting to clone the repo Host key verification failed. I have tried many ways of try to add the host to the known_hosts file but none have worked! The command that is doing the clone is npm install as the repo points to a node module

• Background process text appears in terminal vim

  First time poster, long time lurker, searched, couldn’t find etc, etc. I’m running vim in tmux, in iTerm2. I’m running a server with Grunt.js, which I have running in the background, out of my way. I start my grunt server in the background like this: grunt server & Grunt also watches a bunch of files, and runs some tasks when any of the watched files have been written to. The problem is, when I am in vim and I write a file, the output from grunt starts rendering in vim! I’ve tried running a ‘stock’ vim by starting with this: vim -u NONE …But the problem remains. This suggests to me that the problem is not with my .vimrc. Perhaps it’s an issue with iTerm2, I don’t know. Help.

• Alternatives to the ClickToPlugin Safari extension for Chrome users

  I have been using Safari with ClickToPlugin and was wondering if there was anything similar for Chrome. I am looking for both the click-through to plugin functionality as well as the HTML5 video replacements. I've done some looking around the Chrome extensions page and found some specific extensions to help with forcing the HTML5 on YouTube or to block Flash but none seem offer the generic functionality (click-through works for any given plugin) and flexibility that ClickToPlugin does (ClickToPlugin has HTML5 video replacements for a plethora of websites). I am looking to mimic the aforementioned features in Chrome, but they don't necessarily have to be provided by one single extension.

Which is not true, because I can add the key in pageant.exe, and I am not mistyping the passphrase... Anything else I can try to change or drop the passphrase?

• WGet or cURL: Mirror Site from http://site.com And No Internal Access

  I have tried wget -m wget -r and a whole bunch of variations. I am getting some of the images on http://site.com, one of the scripts, and none of the CSS, even with the fscking -p parameter. The only HTML page is index.html and there are several more referenced, so I am at a loss. curlmirror.pl on the cURL developers website does not seem to get the job done either. Is there something I am missing? I have tried different levels of recursion with only this URL, but I get the feeling I am missing something. Long story short, some school allows its students to submit web projects, but they want to know how they can collect everything for the instructor who will grade it, instead of him going to all the externally hsoted sites.

• Windows won't ctrl+c and ctrl+v

  Using Ctrl+C and V I am unable to copy or paste anything. I have tried many different applications and still no luck. I am able to copy/paste via the shortcut menu when you right click the mouse. Ctrl+F works which means the Ctrl button is functional. I've tried restoring to an earlier restore point. I also ran SFC /SCANNOW (System File Checker) which did not find any errors. Ctrl+C and then right click and paste doesn't work either. I have tried with external and internal keyboard and still no luck. I've clicked on all the relevant search results from Google but none of them work for me. Does anyone know what may be causing this issue and how I can correct it? This problem comes and goes at random times.

• CentOS VM, NTP synchronization problems

  We have three CentOS 5.9 VMs on an ESX3.5 host. Because of the nature of the services we provide it is required that the NTP time is synchronized and the time is correct on all three of them. However one of them constantly drifts back each day for about 66 sec. So far none of us seems to understand as why is this happening. We included the possibility that the VM may be somehow pulling the time from the host, however all of the three VMs have identical configuration settings and they did not have VMware tools installed. Although I realize that this is probably a question of an internal matter and not to ask for on a forum, I would appreciate if anyone of you knows some CentOS NTP diagnostic routines that will help me to diagnose the problem and find a reliable solution. • diagnostic software for wifi adapter

  I'm having trouble with my wifi connection. Is there any software out there that can help me determine if the problem is in the drivers or in the hardware? Regretfully, I'm working on Vista Edit: The problem I'm having is that the Vista reports that the wireless radio is connected, shows an IP and all, the router also shows that the computer is connected, but there's no connectivity. I can't logon to the router, and I can't even ping it. When I ping it I get the response: General Failure I have tried connecting with and without various wireless security protocols. I have tried disabling the wireless adapter and re-enabling it from the Device Manager I have tried updating the driver None of this has helped. When I connect via Ethernet (with a cable, that is), everything works fine. Edit: I'm not using any firewall on the computer, that I'm aware of. The IP address for the WIFI adapter is similar to the one for the LAN adapter. They differ by one.

• Windows 8, NVIDIA graphics recognition fails

  I just installed Windows 8 Pro OEM 64-bit (clean install) and it won't properly recognize my graphics adapter. When I installed Win8, it automatically installed the BasicDisplay.sys driver dated 6/21/2006. 6.2.9200.16384 (win8_rtm.120725-1247). Hardware - Mobo:MSi G41M-P33 Combo CPU:Intel CoreDuo 6600 Graphics:NVIDIA GeForce 9400GT *OS* - Windows 8 Pro 64-bit OEM The graphics adapter worked fine in Windows XP. The PC is a generic box, bought locally and its mobo failed recently, so I replaced it with the G41M. Microsoft wouldn't let me re-activate Windows XP with a different mobo, so I installed Win8, which appears to work except as described next. Win8 only partially recognizes the graphics adapter and won't allow NVIDIA latest driver installer to see that it's an NVIDIA card. As a result, OpenGL doesn't work, and this is needed by the software I most use. Other than that the graphics look OK. When I say 'partially recognizes', I mean that via the Control Panel, I can see that the adapter is described as NVIDIA, but the driver remains stuck at Microsoft Basic Display Adapter no matter what I try, including "Update driver..." in adapter properties. Display Screen Resolution Advanced Settings Adapter shows: Adapter Type: Microsoft Basic Display Adapter Chip Type: NVIDIA DAC Type: NVIDIA Corporation Bios Information: G27 Board - p381n17 Don't know what this means ... no mention of 9400GT Total Available Graphics Memory: 256 MB Dedicated Video Memory: 0 MB In fact the adapter has 512MB on-board video memory. System Video Memory: 0 MB Shared System Memory: 256 MB And Control Panel Device Manager Display adapters just shows Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. No other graphics adapter, and no unknown device or yellow question mark. What I have tried so far: 1. Cleared CMOS and reset. Updated BIOS and all mobo drivers as follows: 1st I used Driver Reviver to see if any driver updates were required. It found some but I didn't use that to get the drivers. Then I switched to MSi's own mobo driver utility Live Update 5. This also showed the board needed to update several so I used it to fetch the new drivers. After that it showed that everything was up to date and I checked with Driver Reviver again, which also reported no drivers now needed updating. Rebooted. Went to the NVIDIA site to get the latest graphics adapter driver. Their auto-detect "Option 2: Automatically find drivers for my NVIDIA products" said "The NVIDIA Smart Scan was unable to evaluate your system hardware. Please use Option 1 to manually find drivers for your NVIDIA products." So I downloaded 310.70-desktop-win8-win7-winvista-64bit-international-whql.exe, which lists 9400 GT under supported products, but when I run it, it says: "NVIDIA Installer cannot continue This graphics driver could not find compatible graphics hardware." Connected the display to the on-board Intel graphics (G41 Intel Express), removed the NVIDIA card and rebooted, changed to internal graphics in CMOS. Again it installs the MS Basic Display Adapter, and can't properly run my s/w that needs OpenGL. It runs on other machines with Intel Express graphics (WinXP and 7) Shut down and pulled out the power cord. Held start button to discharge all capacitors. Removed and re-inserted NVIDIA adapter in PCI-E slot and made sure properly seated. Connected the monitor to the card, screwed plug to socket. Reconnected power cord. Started and checked in BIOS that Primary Graphics Adapter was set to PCI-E. Started Windows. Uninstalled MS Basic Display Adapter in Device Manager. Screen blanks briefly, reappears. No Graphics adapter entry was then visible in Device Manager. Restarted PC. MS Basic Display Adapter Visible again in Device Manager. Clicked in Device Manager View Show hidden devices. No other graphics adapter appears, no unknown devices. Rebooted. Tried Scan for Hardware changes. None detected. Tried right-click on MS Basic Display Adapter Properties Driver Update Driver... Search automatically. It replied that it had determined driver was up to date. I checked that there were no graphic driver-related entries in Programs and Features that I could delete (none). Searched for any other drivers with nvidia in their name and deleted them, just keeping the 306.97 installer exe file. Did a Windows Update. Ran GPU-Z which shows (main items): Microsoft Basic Display Adapter GPU G72 BIOS 5.72.22.76.88 Device ID 10DE - 01D5 DDR2 Bus Width 32 Bit Memory size 64MB Driver Version nvlddmkm 6.2.9200.16384 (ForceWare 0.00) / Win8 64 NVIDIA SLI Unknown in the drop-down at the foot, "Microsoft Basic Display Adapter" is the only option If I swap hard disks in that machine to one with a Ubuntu 10.4 installation (originally installed on the same PC), lspci shows "VGA compatible controller as NVIDIA Corporation Device 01d5 (rev a1) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])" and "kernel driver in use: nvidia" I'm out of ideas for new things to try and would be really grateful of suggestions. • What's the meaning of logging in as "[email protected]:something"

  My Windows 2008 R2 machine is joined to a domain. In the logon screen, if I type in "[email protected]:something" as the username, I can still logon properly, what's the meaning of ":something" appended at the end? I can even see the current user is displayed as "[email protected]:something" in the switch user screen. Is it a feature in Windows? Or is it just a bug? If it is a feature, what's the difference between logging in as "[email protected]" and logging in as "[email protected]:something"? Note that I tried different combinations like "mydomain\username:something" and "mydomain.com:something\username". None of them work except "[email protected]:something".

• Recommended SMTP Relay Service [closed]

  I've got a legacy application that needs an smtp server to relay emails. Each client has various control over their IT infrastructures (from little to none at all), so I can't necessarily install an smtp server on each of their machines. Can anyone recommend a basic SMTP Relay Service? Its literally only for sending a couple of emails a day to a list of about 20 users per client. The application only allows for the smtp server and to/from addresses to be specified. I'm assuming its using the default port. Thanks!

• Server 2008 locks me out when not using the machine for 10 minutes after installing SP2

  I have recently installed Service Pack 2 on my Windows Server 2008 machine (which I use actively for development, and i'm always logged on to). Now, after this installation, when I don't use the machine for some time (let's say, 10 minutes), it locks itself so I have to press Ctrl+Alt+Del and log back in. I have already checked the Screen Saver settings, and it's "None", as it always has been. I also looked into power settings and everything looks right (20 mins to turn off monitor, and i haven't found any settings regarding locking me in there). Do you have any idea what I can do so that it won't lock me out after not using the machine for a while? Thanks! Daniel

• Installing Wordpress - constant PHP/MySQL extension appears missing

  I've got Win2003 w/IIS6, PHP 5 and MySQL installed. I can confirm PHP is installed correctly because I have a testMe.php that runs properly. When I run the Wordpress setup, I get informed that Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress. But in my PHP.ini in the DYNAMIC EXTENSIONS section I have extension=php_mysql.dll extension=php_mysqli.dll I verified that mysql.dll and libmysql.dll are both in my PHP directory. I copied my libmysql.dll to the C:\Windows\System32 directory. When I try to run the initial setup for WordPress, I get this answer. I've Googled setting this up, and everything comes down to the above. I'm missing something, but none of the instructions that I've found online seem to cover whatever that is.

• My server won't send emails

  I've been sent here by the people at stackoverflow OK so I know I'm using the right code becuase I have it working on another server but when I try to send an email from a webpage on this particular server using php I get a success message back but the email never gets through. In /var/log/maillog I see Sep 11 14:20:28 ela1 postfix/smtp[11496]: CEE83E151FD: to=[My email address here], relay=none, delay=40, delays=0.08/0.01/40/0, dsn=4.4.3, status=deferred (Host or domain name not found. Name service error for name=btopenworld.co.uk type=MX: Host not found, try again) Can anyone help?

• Time machine folders won't restore recursively

  I have a Snow Leopard system with Time Machine. Every so often I need to look at an old folder, so I go in and try to restore it, usually to a different location. What I end up with is an empty folder of the appropriate name. none of the files, nothing. It doesn't give any error messages. The files ARE there, because I can see them, also, if I go in via the mount point, and trace down through the file system, I can do a filecopy of the folder, and everything turns out fine. However, that seems like a bad idea. so, I'd like to know why he "right" way doesn't work... I believe that it used to work. It's also possible that it only doesn't work for certain folders. I haven't tested extensively.

  Okay. Im using the feared x64 Win7 retail. I tried soooo many clients/methods, but none of them worked. Finally after a long battle, I made TGB working. YAY! I only have problems with the configuration. What data I've got? group auth user+pw;3DES enc(saw it from the router cfg);user+password. And that's all. I tried using the TGB provided manual and the howtos on their site, but there is no instruction for the given model, and the other cisco type conf wont work.) I tried to configure it up, but its not that easy.. as I mentioned aldy. If anyone uses this app or knows how to configure it up... please..help me.
