  • Pixel Shader Effect Examples

    I've seen a number of pixel-shader effect examples, stuff like swirl on an image. But I'm wondering if anyone knows of any examples or tutorials for more practical uses of shader effects? I'm not saying that a swirl effect doesn't have it's uses, it's just that many of the examples I've found have the basic effect explained and don't go into how it might be used subtly with another effect or transition to produce a wonderful effect. There's a video here, that outlines all the WPF Effects Library, but I'm not sure how I would use some of them in a practical context. For example, when Flash 8 came out with effects like blur, I found a wonderful video that showed how to use the blur effect to create a cool effect with speeding text, that video inspired many ideas of what I could do with the effects in Flash 8. I'm looking for something similar with Pixel Shader Effects.

  • raw h.264 packet capture and playing in VLC

    Hi, I am capturing packets off the network from a video conference HDX. The video is sent in RTP and is encoded in H264. I am trying to capture these packets and generate a video file. I wrote raw H264 data from the packets to disk and i am trying to play it in VLC. VLC just shows a green box. Am i being too naive in my approach with data writing or should am I wrong in assuming that VLC should play this file? Anyone have any experience in such things?

    I am trying to migrate a small project, replacing some factories with Guice (it is my first Guice trial). However, I am stuck when trying to inject generics.   • WPF: Binding to ObservableCollection in ControlTemplate is not updated

    I created a ControlTemplate for my custom control MyControl. MyControl derives from System.Windows.Controls.Control and defines the following property public ObservableCollection<MyControl> Children{ get; protected set; }. To display the nested child controls I am using an ItemsControl (StackPanel) which is surrounded by a GroupBox. If there are no child controls, I want to hide the GroupBox. Everything works fine on application startup: The group box and child controls are shown if the Children property initially contained at least one element. In the other case it is hidden. The problem starts when the user adds a child control to an empty collection. The GroupBox's visibility is still collapsed. The same problem occurs when the last child control is removed from the collection. The GroupBox is still visible. Another symptom is that the HideEmptyEnumerationConverter converter does not get called. Adding/removing child controls to non empty collections works as expected. Whats wrong with the following binding?   • When will the ValueConverter's Convert method be called in wpf

    I have an ObservableCollection bound to a list box and a boolean property bound to a button. I then defined two converters, one that operates on the collection and the other operates on the boolean property. Whenever I modify the boolean property, the converter's Convert method is called, where as the same is not called if I modify the observable collection. What am I missing??   • How do I manage library symbols with linked classes in Flash CS4 to compile/debug in Flash Builder 4

    I'm building a video player using Flash CS4 (hereby referred to as "Flash") to create the graphic symbols and compiling and debugging with Flash Builder 4 ("FB4"). Here are the steps I take in my current workflow: --Create the graphic symbols in Flash. I've created a few different symbols for the player, but I'll focus on just the play/pause button ("ppbutton") here. --In the Library panel, I go to the ppbutton symbol's Linkage properties and link to a class named assets.PlayPauseButtonAsset that extends MovieClip. I do not actually have an assets package nor do I have a class file for PlayPauseButtonAsset as Flash will create them for me when I publish. --In Flash's Publish settings, I set the project to export a SWC that will be used in FB4, called VideoPlayerAssets.swc. --After the SWC is created, I create my FB4 project called "VideoPlayer" and add the SWC to my path. FB4 creates the class VideoPlayer in the default package automatically. --In VideoPlayer.as, I import assets.*, which imports all of the symbol classes I created in Flash and are available via VideoPlayerAssets.swc. I can now instantiate the ppbutton and add to the stage, like this: var ppbutton:PlayPauseButtonAsset = new PlayPauseButtonAsset(); addChild(ppbutton); At this point ppbutton doesn't have any functionality because I didn't create any code for it. So I create a new class called video.controls.PlayPauseButtonLogic which extends assets.PlayPauseButtonAsset. I add some logic, and now I can use that new class to put a working ppbutton on the stage: var ppbutton:PlayPauseButtonLogic = new PlayPauseButtonLogic(); addChild(ppbutton); This works fine, but you may be asking why I didn't just link the ppbutton symbol in Flash to the video.controls.PlayPauseButtonLogic class in the first place. The reason is that I have a designer creating the UI in Flash and I don't want to have to re-publish the SWC from Flash every time I make a change in the logic. Basically, I want my designer to be able to make a symbol in Flash, link that symbol to a logically named class in Linkage properties, and export the SWC. I do not want to have to touch that .fla file again unless the designer makes changes to the symbols or layout. I'm using a versioning system for the project as well and it's cleaner to make sure only the designer is touching the .fla file. So, finally, here's the issue I'm running into: --As the design gets more complex, the designer is nesting symbols to position the video controls on the control bar. He creates a controlbar symbol and links it to assets.ControlBarAsset. The controlbar symbol contains the ppbutton symbol. --The designer publishes the SWC and ControlBarAsset is now available in FB4. I create new class called video.controls.ControlBarLogic that extends assets.ControlBarAsset so I can add some logic to the controlbar, and I add the controlbar to the stage: var controlbar:ControlBarLogic = new ControlBarLogic(); addChild(controlbar); --This works, but the ppbutton doesn't do anything. That's because ppbutton, while inside controlbar, is still only linked to PlayPauseButtonAsset, which doesn't have any logic. I'm no longer instantiating a ppbutton object because it's part of controlbar. That's where I'm stuck today. I can't seem to simply re-cast controlbar's ppbutton as PlayPauseButtonLogic as I get a Type error. And I don't want to have to make a class that has to instantiate each of the video player controls, the place them at their x and y values on the stage according to how the designer placed them, as that would require me to open the .fla and check the various properties of a symbol, then add those values to the code. If the designer made a change, I'd have to go into the code each time just to update those properties each time. Not good. How do I re-cast nested symbols to use the logic classes that I create that extend the asset classes? Remember, the solution is not to link Flash symbols to actual classes so I don't have to keep recompiling the SWC, unless there's a way to do that without having to re-compile the SWC. I want the designer to do his thing, publish the SWC, and be done with it. Then I can take his SWC, apply my logic to his assets, and be able to debug and compile the final SWF.

  • Is there a way to chain multiple value converters in XAML?

    I've got a situation in which I need to show an integer value, bound to a property on my data context, after putting it through two separate conversions: Reverse the value within a range (e.g. range is 1 to 100; value in datacontext is 90; user sees value of 10) convert the number to a string I realise I could do both steps by creating my own converter (that implements IValueConverter). However, I've already got a separate value converter that does just the first step, and the second step is covered by Int32Converter. Is there a way I can chain these two existing classes in XAML without having to create a further class that aggregates them? If I need to clarify any of this, please let me know. :) Thanks.

  • How do I access variables with hyphenated names in Smarty?

    I've got a PHP page that parses an XML file with SimpleXml, then passes that object to a Smarty template. My problem is that the XML file has hyphens in its tag names, e.g. video-player. In PHP, this is no problem, I just use $xml->{'video-player'} and everything's fine. Smarty, on the other hand, throws a fit when I try to use that syntax. The only solution I've come up with so far is to use a variable to store the name, e.g., { assign var=name value="video-player" } { $xml->$name } But this isn't terribly graceful to say the least. Is there another, better, approach to referring to a hyphenated variable name in Smarty?

    Ok, this may be confusing so I hope I explain it correctly. I have 4 tables: business photos video category I want to display "featured" businesses on the home page (or elsewhere) and I want to show a Yes or No in the table row based upon whether or not there are photos or videos for that business. Example: Joes Crab Shack has no videos or photos but is featured. So, when his row is echoed out it will show the Business Name and Business Owner but there will be no data in the photo or video cells thus in the video and photos column it will say No. Otherwise, if the opposite was true, it would say Yes. I tried to hide the navigationBar with [self.navigationController setNavigationBarHidden:YES animated:animated]; but it just remove the navigationBar in my controller but I still have the NavigationBar.png when I'm playing a video. I tried to set the barstyle but it doesn't work either ... self.navigationController.navigationBar.barStyle = UIBarStyleDefault; Could you help me ?

    I am about to write an audio file converter for my side job at the university. As part of this I would need sample rate conversion. However, my professor said that it would be pretty hard to write a sample rate converter that was both of good quality and fast. On my research on the subject, I found some functions in the OSX CoreAudio-framework, that could do a sample rate conversion (AudioConverter.h). After all, an OS has to have some facilities to do that for its own audio stack. Do you know a similar method for C/C++ and Windows, that are either part of the OS or open source? I am pretty sure that this function exists within DirectX Audio (XAudio2?), but I seem to be unable to find a reference to it in the MSDN library.

  • Converting rich text that contains backslashes to plain text or html

    I am trying to convert a rich text string to plain text or html. I am currently using the RichTextBox.Text feature which works correctly for almost all cases except when the text contains backslashes then some of the text is stripped out as the converter believes that it is part of the rtf formatting. Does anyone have any ideas of how to get the backslashes to stay in that instance. Here is an example of a string I would have {\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\deff0\deflang1033{\fonttbl{\f0\fnil\fcharset0 Arial;}}\viewkind4\uc1\pard\fs17 Testing Export \with comments\par} The text I would need would be "Testing Export \with comments" and the text I am getting back from the rtf converter is "Testing Export comments". Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please respond if you have further questions.

    How can I efficiently retrieve a list of channels that a Vimeo video is listed in from the Advanced Vimeo API? The Advanced Vimeo API provides the methods channels.addVideo and channels.removeVideo for managing the channels a video belongs to. Also, the channels.getVideos method is provided for retrieving the list of videos belonging to a channel. However, there is no videos.getChannels method. This means that in order to find all the channels a video is included in one would need to call channels.getVideos (possibly more than once if the channel has more than 50 videos) for each channel of interest. This seems terribly inefficient.

  • Python: wxpython wx.media.MediaCtrl - millisecond seek capability

    I've been searching for a media player that can display sub-second resolution in videos. Some pointed me to the Frame stepping functionality in MPC, but I'd like even more than that. I know from previous experience with wxPython that the wx.media.MediaCtrl both displays and (as fast as i can click with the mouse anyway) stops the video with millisecond-precision. The code is here, and runs no-problem with python +wxpython module. Has anyone come across other video players that handle this functionality, or has seen a more robust/developed video player written with wxPython that allows for this level of precision? This is possibily a one-off task so I'd like to use existing solutions if possible. Thanks.

    Hello, I have downloaded ffmpeg libraries for iPhone and compiled them. My objective is to create a movie file from a series of images using ffmpeg libraries.The amount of documentation for ffmpeg on iphone is very less. I checked an app called iFrameExtractor, which does the opposite of what i want, it extracts frames from a video. On the command line there is a command called ffmpeg -f image2 -i image%d.jpg video.mov This turns a series of images into a video. I actually checked it on my mac and it works fine. What i wanted to know was how do we get the equivalent in iPhone. Or rather which class/api or method to call. There are a couple of examples of apps doing this on iPhone. Not sure whether they do it through ffmpeg though. Anyways, for reference "Time lapser" and "reel moments" Thanks in advance
