  • Can AutoCAD entities be serialized?

    - by billmuell
    Using ObjectARX (C++) for AutoCAD 2010, can AutoCAD entities be serialized? We need to save the serialized entity in a field in a database (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc., not AcDbDatabase). It'OK if you show me how to save them in disk, something like this: AcDbEntity * entity; ... std::ofstream ofs("c:\\filename.fil", std::ios::binary); ofs.write((char *)(entity), sizeof(entity)); ofs.close(); Thanks

  • What happens in memory when calling a function with literal values?

    - by Drise
    Suppose I have an arbitrary function: void someFunc(int, double, char); and I call someFunc(8, 2.4, 'a');, what actually happens? How does 8, 2.4, and 'a' get memory, moved into that memory, and passed into the function? What type of optimizations does the compiler have for situations like these? What if I mix and match parameters, such like someFunc(myIntVar, 2.4, someChar);? What happens if the function is declared as inline?

  • Struct with pointer to a function

    - by user354021
    Hello, In a C struct I have defined a function pointer as follows: typedef struct _sequence_t { const int seq[3]; typedef void (* callbackPtr)(); } sequence_t; I want to initialize a var of that type globally with: sequence_t sequences[] = { { { 0, 1, 2 }, toggleArmament }, }; And I keep getting error telling me that there are too many initializers. How to work it out?

  • strict string to int[long]

    - by baskin
    Do we have a standard way of converting a char* to int (or long) in a strict way, i.e. we should get proper result only if all characters are digits and can fit in an int (or long) -- some way by using strtol etc.. ? Thus "sbc45", "4590k", " 56", "56 ", should be all invalid using that function.

  • C/C++ efficient bit array

    - by aaa
    hi. Can you recommend efficient/clean way to manipulate arbitrary length bit array? right now I am using regular int/char bitmask, but those are not very clean when array length is greater than datatype length. std vector<bool> is not available for me. thanks

  • template; operator (int)

    - by Oops
    Hi, regarding my Point struct already mentioned here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2794369/template-class-ctor-against-function-new-c-standard is there a chance to replace the function toint() with a cast-operator (int)? namespace point { template < unsigned int dims, typename T > struct Point { T X[ dims ]; //umm??? template < typename U > Point< dims, U > operator U() const { Point< dims, U > ret; std::copy( X, X + dims, ret.X ); return ret; } //umm??? Point< dims, int > operator int() const { Point<dims, int> ret; std::copy( X, X + dims, ret.X ); return ret; } //OK Point<dims, int> toint() { Point<dims, int> ret; std::copy( X, X + dims, ret.X ); return ret; } }; //struct Point template < typename T > Point< 2, T > Create( T X0, T X1 ) { Point< 2, T > ret; ret.X[ 0 ] = X0; ret.X[ 1 ] = X1; return ret; } }; //namespace point int main(void) { using namespace point; Point< 2, double > p2d = point::Create( 12.3, 34.5 ); Point< 2, int > p2i = (int)p2d; //äähhm??? std::cout << p2d.str() << std::endl; char c; std::cin >> c; return 0; } I think the problem is here that C++ cannot distinguish between different return types? many thanks in advance. regards Oops

  • Easy way to convert a string of 0's and 1's into a character? C language

    - by Nick
    I'm doing a steganography project where I read in bytes from a ppm file and add the least significant bit to an array. So once 8 bytes are read in, I would have 8 bits in my array, which should equal some character in a hidden message. Is there an easy way to convert an array of 0's and 1's into an ascii value? For example, the array: char bits[] = "0,1,1,1,0,1,0,0" would equal 't'.

  • Do I need to cast the result of strtol to int?

    - by Kristo
    The following code does not give a warning with g++ 4.1.1 and -Wall. int octalStrToInt(const std::string& s) { return strtol(s.c_str(), 0, 8); } I was expecting a warning because strtol returns a long int but my function is only returning a plain int. Might other compilers emit a warning here? Should I cast the return value to int in this case as a good practice?

  • Printing values of all fields in C++ structure

    - by Zhinkaas
    Say a simple structure struct abc { int a; char b; } I got some value in a variable defined as its structure and now I want to print below a = [some value] b = [some character] What is the best way to achieve this for an arbitrary structure without having to write a dump...(...) function for each of the structure I encounter?

  • How to Concatenate 2 C strings, without overwriting any terminating Null characters?

    - by Ben313
    Hello, I am trying to set up a list of file names for a parameter to SHFileOperation. I want to be able to concatenate a file name onto the char array, but i dont want to get rid of the terminating character. for example, I want this: C:\...\0E:\...\0F:\...\0\0 when i use strcat(), it overwrites the null, so it looks like C:\...E:\...F:\...0\ Is there any easy way to do this? or am i going to have to code a new strcat for myself?
