  • C newbie malloc question

    - by roufamatic
Why doesn't this print 5? void writeValue(int* value) { value = malloc(sizeof(int)); *value = 5; } int main(int argc, char * argv) { int* value = NULL; writeValue(value); printf("value = %d\n", *value); // error trying to access 0x00000000 } and how can I modify this so it would work while still using a pointer as an argument to writeValue?

    - by melaos

  • Does Boost work with IntervalZero RTX 2009?

    - by cs-79
Hi all Rtx experts, Have anyone implemented hard real-time app on IntervalZero Rtx environment using Boost libraries? I wish to use the Boost `unordered` data structures instead of solely relying on STL::Vector. Or Array/Vector is the only data structure supported by Rtx? * Off topic question: Can we use STL::String instead of char pointer for string in Rtx? Thanks.

  • Convert string from getline into a number

    - by haskellguy
I am trying to create a 2D array with vectors. I have a file that has for each line a set of numbers. So what I did I implemented a split function that every time I have a new number (separated by \t) it splits that and add it to the vector vector<double> &split(const string &s, char delim, vector<double> &elems) { stringstream ss(s); string item; while (getline(ss, item, delim)) { cout << item << endl; double number = atof(item.c_str()); cout << number; elems.push_back(number); } return elems; } vector<double> split(const string &s, char delim) { vector<double> elems; split(s, delim, elems); return elems; } After that I simply iterate through it. int main() { ifstream file("./data/file.txt"); string row; vector< vector<double> > matrix; int line_count = -1; while (getline(file, row)) { line_count++; if (line_count <= 4) continue; vector<double> cols = split(row, '\t'); matrix.push_back(cols); } ... } Now my issues is in this bit here: while (getline(ss, item, delim)) { cout << item << endl; double number = atof(item.c_str()); cout << number; Where item.c_str() is converted to a 0. Shouldn't that be still a string having the same value as item? It works on a separate example if I do straight from string to c_string, but when I use this getline I end up in this error situation, hints?

  • access Elf section header table

    - by idealistikz
Assume I have the following: Elf_FIle_Header *fileHeader //struct pointer, points to start of the Elf file header fileHeader->offset //byte offset from start of file to section headers Elf_Section_Header *sectionHeader = (Elf_Section_Header *)(char *)fileHeader + fileHeader->offset Why doesn't the above line point me to the start of the section header table? How do I point to the start of the section header table?

  • Get the string "System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection" from a Type (System.type) containing a generic ObservableCollection?

    - by Guillaume Cogranne
I got a Type whose FullName is (if this helps) : "System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection`1[[System.String, mscorlib, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089]]" From that Type, I'd like to get "System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection" as a string but I'd like to do it "cleanly", which means, without spliting the string with the char '`'. I think the strategy is to get something like a Type or something else whose FullName will be "System.Collections.ObjectModel.ObservableCollection" but I really don't manage to do it :/

  • Exception throws: encapsulate them or not?

    - by Simon
Hi there. Once I read an MSDN article that encouraged the following programming paradigm: public class MyClass { public void Method1() { NewCustomException(); } public void Method2() { NewCustomException(); } void NewCustomException() { throw new CustomException("Exception message"); } } Do you think this paradigm makes sense? Wouldn't it be enough to store the exception message in a static const field and then pass it to the exception's constructor, instead of encapsulating the whole exception throw?

  • Accessing PCI Device from user space programs

    - by crissangel
I have a device which would be interface with my processor through pcie. I have written driver for it using the existing pci file operations. Now my problem is how do I access it from user space programs? PCI File operations do not have IOCTL support and hence I cant make an ioctl call unlike other char devices. I cannot use pci_config_read_byte etc. functions as they are meant for kernel space(included in linux/pci.h).

  • User oriented regex library for java

    - by Maxim Veksler
Hello, I'm looking for a library that could perform "easy" pattern matching, a kind of pattern that can be exposed via GUI to users. It should define a simple matching syntax like * matches any char and alike. In other words, I want to do glob (globbing) like sun's implemented logic http://openjdk.java.net/projects/nio/javadoc/java/nio/file/PathMatcher.html but without relation to the file system. Ideas?

  • error: expected `;' before '{' token - What is the cause?

    Here is my implementation file: using namespace std; #include <iostream> #include <iomanip> #include <string> #include <stack> //line 5 #include "proj05.canvas.h" //----------------Constructor----------------// Canvas::Canvas() //line 10 { Title = ""; Nrow = 0; Ncol = 0; image[][100]; // line 15 position.r = 0; position.c = 0; } //-------------------Paint------------------// line 20 void Canvas::Paint(int R, int C, char Color) { cout << "Paint to be implemented" << endl; } The errors I'm getting are these: proj05.canvas.cpp: In function 'std::istream& operator>>(std::istream&, Canvas&)': proj05.canvas.cpp:11: error: expected `;' before '{' token proj05.canvas.cpp:22: error: a function-definition is not allowed here before '{' token proj05.canvas.cpp:24: error: expected `}' at end of input proj05.canvas.cpp:24: error: expected `}' at end of input These seem like simple syntax errors, but I am not sure what's wrong. Could someone decode these for me? I'd really appreciate it, thanks for your time! EDIT Here is the definition of Canvas in my .h file: #ifndef CANVAS_H #define CANVAS_H #include <iostream> #include <iomanip> #include <string> #include <stack> class Canvas { public: Canvas(); void Paint(int R, int C, char Color); const int Nrow; const int Ncol; string Title; int image[][100]; stack<int> path; struct PixelCoordinates { unsigned int r; unsigned int c; } position; }; #endif
