• Getline and 16h (26d) character

  Hi, in VC++ environment Im using (string) getline function to read separate lines in opened file. Problem is that getline takes character 1Ah as end of file and if it is present on the line, whole reading ends prematurely. Is there any solution for this? • python open does not create file if it doesnt exist

  I am using Python. What is the best way to open a file in rw if it exists, or if it does not, then create it and open it in rw? From what i read, file = open('myfile.dat', 'rw') should do this, no? it is not working for me (python 2.6.2) and im wondering if it is a version problem, or not supposed to work like that or what. The bottom line is, i just need a solution for the problem. I am curious about the other stuff, but all i need is a nice way to do the opening part. thanks in advance

  Hi, iam looking for performant way to do the following: User login Fetch all Friends from Twitter Fetch all Followers from Twitter Display all Friends wich aren't Followers The Problem: How to do this in a performant way? An user can have up to 2 Million Friends or Followers. In the moment im Storing both inside an sqllite table an compare them through an loop. When the user comes back the table is cleared and process starts again. This works finde on 100 - 1000 Friends.. but will be tricky with 500000 Friends. I cant cache the lists because they can change every moment.. Does someone knows a good way to handle such big amount of data?

• Referral System PHP

  I have a membership based website and im planning on implementing a referral system. My website is credit based, the idea is that if User X refers User Y, then User X gets 100 bonus credits. Has anybody built a referral system before and if so what obstacles should I bear in mind? I've had a snoop round SO tonight but couldn't find any suitable answers. My theory is to give each user a random string which is generated and stored in the DB when they sign up, The user will then be presented with a URL incl. that string which when they pass to somebody (User Z), User Z is then sent to a page, the page then uses the GET method to gather the Random string and update the DB Row they currently occupy, does this sound feasible or could it easily be breached? I'm trying to use lxml cleaner to clean out a couple of html pages, so in the end i am just left with the text and nothing else - but try as i might, the above doesnt appear to work as such, i'm still left with a substial amount of markup (and it doesnt appear to be broken html), and particularly links, which aren't getting removed, despite the args i use in remove_tags and links=True any idea whats going on, perhaps im barking up the wrong tree with lxml ? i thought this was the way to go with html parsing in python?

• htaccess not working as it should

  well, ofcourse its not working, im still a n00b :) this is the code that i have : Options +FollowSymLinks RewriteEngine on RewriteRule (.*)\.css - [S=7] RewriteRule (.*)\.jpg - [S=6] RewriteRule ^gallery gallery.html [L] RewriteRule (.*)/(.*)/ index.html?page=$2 [L] RewriteRule (.*)/(.*) index.html?page=$2 [L] RewriteRule (.*)/ index.html?page=$1 [L] RewriteRule (.*) index.html?page=$1 [L,QSA] Now, this works fine, if i try localhost/abc but it wont work if i try localhost/abc/ also, when i try localhost/abc/def (or localhost/abc/def/ for that matter) the css file isnt being included properly. i get an error saying /abc/def/style.css does not exist. :( however, the code doesnt work if i remove the QSA flag from the last rule. this is the code that ive come up with after a lot of googling and reading SO. if anyone can help out i'll be extremely grateful. thanks!

The task I have is to allow the user to search 1 database table via input controls on an aspx page where they can select and , or , equals to combine fields, generating the sql on the fly with a stringbuilder or similar.   Are there any (free preferably) XML Editors combined with FTP and file-tree browsing Project wide find+Replace I.e A bit like what Dreamweaver MX is but with fancier XML capabilities /XSLT /XSD Perhaps even DW does this...im still on an older version. I'd like to keep a smooth flow between find-edit-view-upload any ideas? Background: I have converted most of the html files of my legacy site into XML (which match the directory structure of my 'public docs' folder). • JAVA: How do I accept input during a certain period of time only

  Im trying to do a simple game where I continually need input from players. This needs to happen during a certain time period only. Everything that is sent after that will be discarded. After the time period a new game starts. So: Start game Wait for input from all players during 10 seconds 10 secs no more input Calculate the winner and do some stuff Goto 1. I was thinking using a timer and timertask to keep track of time and maybe use a boolean variable that changes from "open" to "closed" after 10 seconds? Please give me some advise on this.

I know that by MemoryStream ms = new MemoryStream(byteArray); System.drawing.Image im = Image.FromStream(ms); We can pass 1 dimensional array and convert it into image..   I have Netbeans installed with Visual Paradigm plugin. I have converted my php code into UML diagrams (modeling - instant reverse). I can see relations (drawn lines) between superclass and subclasses. However, i cannot see relations between objects inside objects (composition/aggregation/association)? The code looks like: class Thread { private $tag = ''; public function __construct($tagObject) { $this->tag = $tagObject; } } I know its possible using Java cause i've read about it. • running a stored procedure inside a sql trigger

  Hi all, the business logic in my application requires me to insert a row in table X when a row is inserted in table Y. Furthermore, it should only do it between specific times(which I have to query another table for). I have considered running a script every 5 minutes or so to check this, but I stumbled upon triggers and figured this might be a better way to do it. But I find the syntax for procedures a little bewildering and I keep getting an error I have no idea how to fix. • Drupal menu item disappears for Anonymous User, I dont want that happening!

  Good day I'm using Drupal 6, and I have a menu item that points to a Forum page. I only want the forums accesible by registered users, but if they aren't logged in/registered I want drupal to display a login/register page. Im using a 403redirect module to handle that, and that is fine. My problem is, I have the menu item pointing to /forum. And when I'm not logged in, the menu item disappears. How can I stop that from happening? Thanks

  Ok Ive figured out how to do a screen capture of my desktop using Windows Media Encoder 9 + SDK and saving it as a movie on my hardrive. But now I want to take my project further and stream a realtime screen capture of my desktop . The idea is that users accessing my asp.net website will be able to view whatever Im doing on my desktop in real time via the video streaming from my computer. I really dont need the source code just the best strategy, procedure and server requirements.How will users access the streaming video on my website? Will it work on my godaddy shared hosting account or at what point will I need an upgrade? Will I be saving the stream to a file on the server for users to access or is there a way to stream directly ? I just need someone to point me in the right direction...

The cout is giving me the date in the correct format, but the year is not 2010, but 3910. I know there is something to do with the year cound starting at 1900, but im not sure how to get strftime to recognise this and not add 1900 to the value of 2010 that is there, can anyone help.   im trying to understand the factory design pattern. i dont understand why it's good to have a middleman between the client and the product (object that the client wants). example with no factory: $mac = new Mac(); example with a factory: $appleStore = new AppleStore(); $mac = $appleStore->getProduct('mac'); how does the factory pattern decouple the client from the product? could someone give an example of a future code change that will impact on example 1 negative, but positive in example 2 so i understand the importance of decoupling? thanks

• asp.net mvc ignoreRoute with webservice

  Howdy, Im adding the filevistacontrol to my asp.net MVC web application. I have a media.aspx page that is ignored in the routing with routes.IgnoreRoute("media.aspx"); This works successfully and serves a standard webforms page. Upon adding the filevistacontrol, I can't seem to ignore any calls the control makes to it's webservice. Eg the following ignoreRoute still seems to get picked up by the MvcHandler. routes.IgnoreRoute("FileVistaControl/filevista.asmx/GetLanguageFile/"); The exception thrown is: 'The RouteData must contain an item named 'controller' with a non-empty string value' Thanks in advance.

Should I have a column in my database for each column on the table, then say either A,B,C or D depending on what column it is in but then how would I display it using PHP in my code provided? Im struggling to find a good way of explaining this, I am sorry.

• .htaccess cross browser

  Hi, Im trying to load a custom error document for a 404 error using a .htaccess file on a linux server, the page gets the current page URL then redirects to another site (which is retrieved from a db) based on an id it retrieved from the URL. The current error documents are stored here: /error_docs/ - i dont have permission to upload anything other than the HTML files that are already in there /HTTPDocs/301redir.php is the site root where the .htaccess file is. i have used the following to load the 301redir.php page as the error doc, which works in FF but no other browsers. ErrorDocument 404 /310redir.php using .htaccess is my only real option for changing this, is there a way to get around this issue and make it work across all browsers?
