  • Type of object returned by an input from a web page

    I'm attempting to upload a file into a jsp and then use the file in some other code. My problem is that it comes into the servlet as an Object via the request.getAttribute() call so I don't know what to cast it to. I have this code so far to try and test what it is but I'm getting a NullPointerException. PrintWriter out = response.getWriter(); out.println(request.getAttribute("file1").getClass()); Is my understanding of whats going on flawed or am I just coding it up wrong?

  • Currency exchange rates for paypal

    Does anyone know a way to get the currency exchange rates for paypal? We have custom shopping cart and use Paypal (Website Payments Standard) to handle payments. Our 'home' currency is Euro, but we would like to present our customers the option to pay in different currencies (USD, CAD, AUD and GBP). PayPal offers the option to:     a) automatically convert our Euro quoted prices to, for example, USD upon checkout     b) checkout in USD directly With option a): We get paid in Euro, the customer pays for the currency exchange (good). The customer does not know what he/she is going to be charged in USD until checkout. (bad) With option b) The customer pays in USD, then the currency is converted into EUR and we pay the the currency exchange. The customer never has to worry about the different currencies (excellent) We do not know the exchange rate PayPal is going to use so we cannot quote the correct prices to our customer (showstopper) So my question is:   Does anybody know a way to get the PayPal exchange rates? or   Does anybody know how to make a good estimate? Update: PayPal updates it's exchange rate 2 times a day. (at least, that is what they state). They use the Interbank Exchange Rate provided by ??? and add a 2.5% spread above this rate to determine their retail foreign exchange rates. Unforunately, there the Interbank Exchange Rates vary from source to source and from minute to minute. We have been monitoring the PayPal exchange rates and cross referenced them with the Official reference rates provides by the European Central Bank. the results vary widely, somewhere from 1 to 6 ! percent...

  • How to debug a web service written in PHP?

    Hello, I've got a nice question here :) I need to debug my web service written in PHP. Its client is written in C#. After a couple of days of searching I realized this is not an easy task. At least it seems nobody knows the right solution. What is the problem in, actually? We have 2 popular PHP debugging libraries : PHP Debugger from NuSphere and XDebug extension. The problem is they both are controlled from URL query string or with the help of cookies. For example, to enable debugging with PHP Debugger you need to add ?DBGSESSID=xxx parameter to your URL or to have DBGSESSID cookie. But when your web service is called from the external client, the client doesn't have a cookie and doesn't add DBGSESSID url parameter. So how can we debug in this situation? PS. I don't want to write to log files, see request and response headers/data or something like this. I want normal step-by-step debugging and breakpoints. Anyone?

    I have around 50-60 components and some of the fields are readonly. Now I want to set the tab index only for the fields that are read/write. Now the problem for me is, some of the components will be added according to the selection in my dropdown list box. Those components that are newly populated also contains some read only text boxes. The thing is, some of the options in the dropdown list may contain or may not contain components. So how could I Give the tabindex appropriately. eg : textbox1 : tabindex="1" textbox2 : tabindex="2" dropdown : tabindex="3" textbox for dropdown : tabindex="?" textbox : tabindex="?"

  • Problem with multiple event handling in JQuery

    Hi everyone, I have a strange jquery problem with multiple event handlers. What I'm trying to achieve is this: User selects some text on the page If the selection is not empty - show a context menu If user clicks somewhere else - the context menu should disappear I'm having troubles with the above i.e. sometimes the context menu appears correctly, sometimes it appears and disappears straight after user makes a selection. Please help. See the relevant parts of my code below.     Does anyone know of an open source implementation of an ASP.NET ProfileProvider that stores user profile information in the file system? I would prefer to avoid writing my own if a decent implementation already exists - while the API doesn't look to complicated, I'd rather not re-invent the wheel (so to speak). Hopefully this doesn't matter, but I am using .NET 3.5 with ASP.MVC 1.0. Thanks in advance.

I want to use jQuery so that when I click the H3, the image, or the paragraph inside the LIE(which are all information about a certain site), it would fade out the entire UL, then grab info about that site from our database. I think this requires AJAX but I don't have much experience with it. I'm also confused on how to use jQuery to write the new HTML after the information is grabbed.

  • What initial modelling/design activities on Agile Projects do you do??

    When developing an application using agile techniques, what if any initial modelling/architecture activities do you do, and how do you capture that knowledge?? I'm not after a bullet list about XP, Scrum, Crystal, DSDM..etc as I'm familiar with the methodologies. But what do you do above and beyond the guidance given by these. I find I work best by thinking the system through first, but also like the benefits of timeboxing, story cards, pairing, tdd. The closest thing I've seen so far is Scott Ambler's Initial Architecture Modelling, but was wondering what alternatives are used out there?

  • Transition domain to new web host without waiting for DNS propagation

    I was considering switching to Amazon EC2 to host my website to handle more traffic. It seems like I would have to update DNS records to point to the new server but I was wondering if there was a way to avoid having to wait for the new DNS record to propagate. Putting the code on both hosts would not work for me since the app writes to a database pretty frequently. I thought about just using a meta redirect or php redirect on the old host to redirect to the new host ip but was wondering if there's a better more accepted way of doing this.

  • importing pywiiuse to test out

    This is probably a simple problem. But I downloaded the pywiiuse library from here and I also downloaded the examples. However when I try to run one of the examples I end up with import issues. I'm not certain I have everything configured properly to run.   • SVG as CSS background for website navigation-bar

    I drew a small (horizontal / in width) svg to be the background of my website's navigation. My website's navigation takes place a 100% of the browser's viewport and I want the svg image to fill that 100% space. So, using css I set the background of the navigation (.nav) to nav.svg but then I saw (whenI opened the html file in a browser) that the svg was not the full-width of the nav, but at the small width I drew it at. How can I get the SVG to stretch and fill the entire width of the navigation (100% of the page) ? Here are the 2 domain classes: class Photo { byte[] file static belongsTo = Profile } class Profile { String fullName Set photos static hasMany = [photos:Photo] } The relevant controller snippet: class PhotoController { ..... def viewImage = { def photo = Photo.get( params.id ) byte[] image = photo.file response.outputStream << image } ...... } Finally the GSP snippet: <img class="Photo" src="${createLink(controller:'photo', action:'viewImage', id:'profileInstance.photos.get(1).id')}" /> Now how do I access the photo so that it will be shown on the GSP? I'm pretty sure that profileInstance.photos.get(1).id is not correct. Thanks!!

  • Breaking a concave polygon into convex ones.

    I'm using a game physics library (Box2D) which only supports convex polygon shapes. However, I'd like the level builder to be able to just specify concave polygons without having to worry about that. So, how can I automatically break apart a concave polygon into convex ones (or even all triangles). Speed would be cool, but ease of implementation is more important. The breaking apart will only be done on game initialization. (My language is Flash/ActionScript 3, but that shouldn't matter)

  • Automatically tidy up JSP/JSF files

    Hi, I am working on a webapplication and I do most of the XHTML stuff in an editor. Every once in a while I froget to close a tag or mess up the nesting (we all get distracted sometimes ;-)). So I commpile, package and run my webapp (using maven mvn clean package jetty:run-war only to notice that displaying the view (where I messed up the jsp) fails with an exception while trying to render. So I wondered: Is there some tool that I can include into my build-cycle that automatically catches and rectifies those careless mistakes?

I tried jsgantt, but actually it is not very beautiful. I could evaluate also a server generation of the graph. In case my server side language is Python. It will be part of an internal project with no internet access, so Google Charts isn't an option.
