  • Load view when button is clicked in Xcodes Storyboard

    - by dooonot
    I just started to use Storyboard in Xcode. I have a starting view that has some buttons inside. Is there a way to load a special view when a button is clicked? I only found this workaround: -(IBAction)loadRegistration:(id)sender { // load registration controller UIStoryboard *storyboard = self.storyboard; RegisterController *svc = [storyboard instantiateViewControllerWithIdentifier:@"RegisterController"]; [self presentViewController:svc animated:YES completion:nil]; }

  • Help adding a backgroundView to UITableViewCell

    - by Alex
I'm getting really desperate trying to add a UIImageView to UITableViewCell.backgroundView. All my efforts have resulted in this crappy rendering: It looks like the cell's label's white background is sitting on top of cell's background and covering portions of it. I tried setting the label's background color to clear, or some other color and it does not have any event. It is always white. The reason I know it's the text label's background causing this white area is that if I don't do [cell setText:@"Cell text here"]; the white area is gone and I see just the cell's background image. Here's the code that I'm using. The table view is added in the .xib file and UITableView is added to UIViewController: - (NSInteger)numberOfSectionsInTableView:(UITableView *)tableView { return 1; } - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { return [myCollection.items count]; } - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { NSUInteger rowIndex = indexPath.row; static NSString *CellIdentifier = @"Cell"; UITableViewCell *cell = [tableView dequeueReusableCellWithIdentifier:CellIdentifier]; if (cell == nil) { cell = [[[UITableViewCell alloc] initWithStyle:UITableViewCellStyleDefault reuseIdentifier:CellIdentifier] autorelease]; cell.backgroundView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"darkCellBackground.png"]]; cell.selectedBackgroundView = [[UIImageView alloc] initWithImage:[UIImage imageNamed:@"darkCellBackground.png"]]; } [cell setText:@"Cell text here"]; return cell; } - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { // Navigation logic may go here. Create and push another view controller. // AnotherViewController *anotherViewController = [[AnotherViewController alloc] initWithNibName:@"AnotherView" bundle:nil]; // [self.navigationController pushViewController:anotherViewController]; // [anotherViewController release]; [tableView deselectRowAtIndexPath:indexPath animated:YES]; } - (BOOL)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView canEditRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { return NO; } I'm sure I'm doing something wrong but cant quite figure out what.

  • UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum working... sometimes.

    - by MegaEduX
Hello, UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum is only working sometimes. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, exact same function. - (void)imagePickerController:(UIImagePickerController *)picker didFinishPickingImage:(UIImage *)image editingInfo:(NSDictionary *)editingInfo { NSLog(@"Saving image to camera roll..."); UIImageWriteToSavedPhotosAlbum(image, nil, nil, nil); NSLog(@"Done!"); } I am using a UIImagePicker controller to get the image that then calls that function. Sometimes it saves it to the camera roll, other times it simply doesn't. Anyone has any idea? Thanks in advance.

  • When pressing Back/Menu button my app hangs

    - by Pentium10
I am having a really annoying bug, which yet I don't know how to trace it. I have an activity with 3 tabs, each populated by adapters build by asynctasks. They are displaying well, navigation is fine. I've extended TabActivity. But whenever I hit the Back/Menu/Search button it halts, then after a while the OS displays me this warning: Sorry Activity Contacts (in application MyApp) is not responding. Force close or Wait. How can I trace this problem on the phone?

  • Problem loading a contents URL into a string

    - by bebeTech
I've been using this method for a few weeks now as suggested on my previous question and the app now keeps crashing with a Protocol 443 error - something about unable to resolve the address. Worked fine when first installed and then just stopped. The same with on the device itself, worked fine until this morning and now the same issue?? Nothing wrong with the URL as I can still load in a browser. If I leave it for a couple of days it starts working again?? Is there a more effecient way of using the Http POST and GET functions? All I am trying to do is perform a login and save the resulting page to a string. Is there a more Android friendly way?

  • Suggestions on how to implement a UI Element to display a long image in iPhone.

    - by Tattat
I want to display a long image on iPhone. The user can swipe left or right to see difficult parts of the image. I want to spite the long image into different parts... for example, a long long image is 1000* 100; I want to display 100*100 for each time. When the image is loaded, it shows from x:0 to x:100. When user swipe right, it becomes x:101, x:200. When the user swipe left, it back to x:0, x:100, when the user continue to swipe right, it show x:201, x:300. I am thinking how to implement this specified imageView. I have two ideas now. First, make my own imageView, which super class is UIImageView, and overriding the swipe left, swipe right method. Second, make my own UIView. just implement the user swipe left/right action. Which way you think is better, or any better ideas on implement this? thz u.

  • How much memory is my iphone app using (from Simulator)

    - by Jonathan
I know this has something to do with Instruments, but well it's kind of confusing and searching for Instruments on Google doesn't help much. I'd like to know how well my app runs, like how much memory it uses. I just don't know where to find something like: "As close as we can tell from the simulator you'll app will currently be using xx MBs of RAM on a real iphone device." I need help on how to get this information.

  • Obj-C Sending Messages Between Classes

    - by user544359
I'm a newbie in iPhone Programming. I'm trying to send a message from one view controller to another. The idea is that viewControllerA takes information from the user and sends it to viewControllerB. viewControllerB is then supposed to display the information in a label. viewControllerA.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface viewControllerA : UIViewController { int num; } -(IBAction)do; @end viewControllerA.m #import "viewControllerA.h" #import "viewControllerB.h" @implementation viewControllerA - (IBAction)do { //initializing int for example num = 2; viewControllerB *viewB = [[viewControllerB alloc] init]; [viewB display:num]; [viewB release]; //viewA is presented as a ModalViewController, so it dismisses itself to return to the //original view, i know it is not efficient [self dismissModalViewControllerAnimated:YES]; } - (void)dealloc { [super dealloc]; } @end viewControllerB.h #import <UIKit/UIKit.h> @interface viewControllerB : UIViewController { IBOutlet UILabel *label; } - (IBAction)openA; - (void)display:(NSInteger)myNum; @end viewControllerB.m #import "viewControllerB.h" #import "viewControllerA.h" @implementation viewControllerB - (IBAction)openA { //presents viewControllerA when a button is pressed viewControllerA *viewA = [[viewControllerA alloc] init]; [self presentModalViewController:viewA animated:YES]; } - (void)display:(NSInteger)myNum { NSLog(@"YES"); [label setText:[NSString stringWithFormat:@"%d", myNum]]; } @end YES is logged successfully, but the label's text does not change. I have made sure that all of my connections in Interface Builder are correct, in fact there are other (IBAction) methods in my program that change the text of this very label, and all of those other methods work perfectly... Any ideas, guys? You don't need to give me a full solution, any bits of information will help. Thanks.

  • For a Chemical Equation Balancer App (Android), how do I count the number of atoms of each element in each term?

    - by Upas
This is my app: If someone enters "C6H12O6+O2=CO2+H2O", then I have already written code to split the equation into terms, so in an ArrayList called rterms I have the strings: C6H12O6 CO2 and in another ArrayList called pterms, I have: CO2 H2O I need to count the number of C's in each term of the reactants, so 6 for term 1, 0 for term 2, and then the H's and then O's. How would I do this? Any help is appreciated.

  • Download HTML from website URL in objective C (iphone)

    - by Jonathan
I'm trying to get the HTML data of a website so that I can parse it. I have parsing bit sorted out but using the following code doesn't seem to work: NSData *data = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfURL: [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://thewebsite.net"]]; Is this the way I should be doing it or is there another way?

  • mutableCopyWithZone updating a property value.

    - by Jim
I have a Class that I need to copy with the ability to make changes the value of a variable on both Classes. Simply put the classes need to remain clones of each other at all times. My understanding of the documentation is that I can do this using a shallow copy of the Class which has also been declared mutable. By shallow copying the pointer value for the variable will be cloned so that it is an exact match in both classes. So when I update the variable in the original the copy will be updated simultaneously. Is this right? As you can see below I have used mutableCopyWithZone in the class I want to copy. I have tried both NSCopyObject and allocWithZone methods to get this to work. Although I'm able to copy the class and it appears as intended, when updating the variable it is not changing value in the copied Class. - (id)mutableCopyWithZone:(NSZone *)zone { //ReviewViewer *copy = NSCopyObject(self, 0, zone); ReviewViewer *copy = [[[self class] allocWithZone:zone] init]; copy->infoTextViews = [infoTextViews copy]; return copy; } infoTextViews is a property declared as nonatomic, retain in the header file of the class being copied. I have also implemented the NSMutableCopying protocol accordingly. Any help would be great.

  • Having a UITextField in a UITableViewCell

    - by Mathieu
Hi! I'm trying to do that for a couple of days now, and after reading tons of messages of people trying to do that too, I'm still unable to have a fully working UITextField in some of my UITableViewCells, just like in this example: http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/4858/picture4za3.png Either I have the form working but the text is not visible (although I set its color to blue), the keyboard goes on the field when I click on it and I haven't been able to correctly implement the keyboard events. I tried with a bunch of examples from Apple (mainly UICatalog, where there is a kinda similar control) but it's still not working correctly. Can somebody help me (and all the people trying to realize this control) and post a simple implementation of a UITextField in a UITableViewCell, that works fine? Thank you very much.
