    I have the following query which have 1000 rows select staffdiscountstartdate,datediff(day,groupstartdate,staffdiscountstartdate),EmployeeID from tblEmployees where GroupStartDate < '20100301' and StaffDiscountStartDate '20100301' and datediff(day,groupstartdate,staffdiscountstartdate)1 order by staffdiscountstartdate desc i have the following query which have 400 rows: ie the employees in tblemployees and in tblcards select a.employeeid,b.employeeid from tblEmployees a,tblCards b where GroupStartDate < '20100301' and StaffDiscountStartDate '20100301' and datediff(day,groupstartdate,staffdiscountstartdate)1 and a.employeeid=b.employeeid How to list the employees which is there in tblemployees and not in tblcards? ie is 1000-400 = 600 rows ???

    What's the best way, both aesthetically and from a performance perspective, to split a list of items into multiple lists based on a conditional? The equivalent of: good = [x for x in mylist if x in goodvals] bad = [x for x in mylist if x not in goodvals] is there a more elegant way to do this?     Hi, I'm trying to query a set of buldings listed on a table, these buildings are linked with tags. I'm able to do it, but my problem is how limit the number of tags to see: table buildings id building_name style 1 Pompidou bla 2 Alcatraz bla 3 etc. etc. table tags // they can be 50 or more per building id tag_name 1 minimal 2 gothic 3 classical 4 modern 5 etc. table buildings_tags id building_id tag_id I though to do something like this to retrieve the list, but this isn't compplete: SELECT DISTINCT(tag), bulding_name FROM buldings INNER JOIN buildings_tags ON buildings.id = buildings_tags.building_id INNER JOIN tags ON tags.id = buildings_tags.tag_id LIMIT 0, 20 // result building tag Pompidou great Pompidou france Pompidou paris Pompidou industrial Pompidou renzo piano <= How to stop at the 5th result?   • Can I set a property on an object that is only declared on the instance type, when I don't know the

    Let me explain. I have a List into which I am adding various ASP.NET controls. I then wish to loop through the list and set a CssClass, however not every Control supports the property CssClass. What I would like to do is test if the underlying instance type supports the CssClass property and set it, but I'm not sure how to do the conversion prior to setting the property since I don't know the type of each Control object. I know that I can use typeof or x.GetType(), but I'm not sure how to use these to convert the controls back to the instance type in order to test for and then set the property. Actually I seem to have solved this, so I thought that I would post the code here for others. foreach (Control c in controlList) { PropertyInfo pi = c.GetType().GetProperty("CssClass"); if (pi != null) pi.SetValue(c, "desired_css_class", null); } I hope that this helps someone else as I has taken me hours to research these 2 lines of code.     Hi everybody, I’m working on a small kind of log system to a webpage, and I’m having some difficulties with a query I want to do multiple things. I have tried to do some nested / subqueries but can’t seem to get it right. I’ve two tables: User = {userid: int, username} Registered = {userid: int, favoriteid: int} What I need is a query to list all the userid’s and the usernames of each user. In addition, I also need to count the total number of favoriteid’s the user is registered with. A user who is not registered for any favorite must also be listed, but with the favorite count shown as zero. I hope that I have explained my request probably but otherwise please write back so I can elaborate. By the way, the query I’ve tried with look like this: SELECT user.userid, user.username FROM user,registered WHERE user.userid = registered.userid(SELECT COUNT(favoriteid) FROM registered) However, it doesn’t do the trick, unfortunately Kind regards Mestika

    Hi, I am trying to update a replica list on a Exchange 2003 public folder. I am using the WMI namespace exchange_publicfolder to try and add an Exchange server (using the servers DN) to the AddReplica procedure. Every time I run this I get an invalid parameter as an exception. Below is the code that I am using to do this.   • aws-s3 can't find xml-simple, but in gem list

    I'm transitioning to heroku, and need to have AWS-s3 connections to deal with a variety of graphics. I've installed the aws-s3 gem, but one of its dependencies is not being found: xml-simple. My belief is that this is a standard part of RoR, and it is in the gem list. When I deploy to heroku, all is fine, but on my development server, it isn't being found when the code uses it to check the existence of a graphic. It works fine from the console, using s3sh. I'm not quite sure why this is -- what do I need to check? Using OS X 10.6, on a 64 bit machine -- can this be part of it?

    I have a list of chinese characters and normal alphanumeric characters, mixed together, and I want to get rid of any element that contains an alphanumeric character. Is there a simple way to do this? If I simply exclude any element that contains an alphanumeric character, I get no result because the chinese characters (in utf-8) are similarly affected. I also tried [w for w in fourchar if w.startswith("\x")] to try to get the chinese characters but I'm not sure if that's valid at all. I'm having difficulty figuring out what the alphanumeric characters are in unicode. Thanks for any help!

Much similar to what is available on http://code.google.com (Low, Medium, High) + average number of emails per day | per month. Number of releases made in a year including patch, minor, major releases. We did look at the maven repositories but that wasn't very useful either. We did look at ohloh, but didn't get the desired information. Any other ideas on where to get this information (any maven-2 plugins)?

    It's pretty straightforward to add simple properties to a User Control that will appear in the desired categories in the Windows Forms designer, e.g.: [Category("Appearance")] public Color BackColor { get { return _textBox.BackColor; } set { _textBox.BackColor = value; } } What if I want to expose a more complex property, such as a collection of items of a type I define? I'm thinking something along the lines of the ListView.Items property, or the DataGridView.Columns property -- where the user of the control can access this complex property via a more specialized pop-up form (as opposed to a simple TextBox or ComboBox). Even a simple nudge in the right direction would be much appreciated.

    I'm using Disqus comments on my site. Users can comment on blog posts or on podcasts. So I have a page that lists all the blog-posts and one listing all of my podcasts. I'm using the combo-widget to display the most recent comments on each of these two pages. But I only want recent blog-post comments to show up in the list on the blog index page and likewise for podcasts. At the moment, the combo-widget lists all the comments, regardless of whether or not they were left on a blog post or a podcast... Is Disqus even built to be used in this way? [Site built with rails and I'm using norman's disqus plugin, although I doubt it matters...]

    Yes, I know this subject has been covered before (here, here, here, here), but AFAIK, all solutions save one choke on a list like this: L = [[[1, 2, 3], [4, 5]], 6] where the desired output is [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6] or perhaps even better, an iterator. The only solution I saw that works for an arbitrary nesting is from @Alabaster Codify here: def flatten(x): result = [] for el in x: if hasattr(el, "__iter__") and not isinstance(el, basestring): result.extend(flatten(el)) else: result.append(el) return result flatten(L) So to my question: is this the best model? Did I overlook something? Any problems?

    Hi, I have a method which returns an array of fixed type objects (let's say MyObject). The method creates a new empty Stack<MyObject>. Then, it does some work and pushes some number of MyObjects to the end of the Stack. Finally, it returns the Stack.ToArray(). It does not change already added items or their properties, nor remove them. The number of elements to add will cost performance. There is no need to sort/order the elements. Is Stack a best thing to use? Or must I switch to Collection or List to ensure better performance and/or lower memory cost?

ProductCode, ProductIDs AMRLSPN, "1,2" AMRLOFD, "1,3" BLGHVF, "2,4,6" BLGHVO, "2,4" BLGHVD, "3,5" BLGSDO, "0" CHOHVF, "1,6" CHOHVP, "1,2,7,8" ... ... Q: Is there a t-sql query that will return a list of active records from the "ProductAllowed" table if any of three IsSaleType fileds is/are switched on for a product. Based on the sample data the ProductAllowed records should return following records. AMRLSPN BLGHVF BLGHVO BLGSDO CHOHVP This needs to be applied in a SQLSERVER 2000 database containing aprox 150000 records. Thanks
