  • UITableViewController's TableView becomes NULL

    - by Travis
I have UITableViewController (initiated by the Navigation-based app project template). I am overriding loadView and putting up an alternative view (w/ a UILabel and UIActivityIndicator) to display while the table's contents is loading. When the loading is done, I remove the loading view and try to display the table view but I see that it's NULL. So in the simulator I see my loading view and then when the loading's done the view disappears but my tableview never comes. I'm confused what the difference is between self.view and self.tableView in my UITableViewController and how I can exchagn

  • Dynamic choices for Django SelectMultiple Widget

    - by PhilGo20
I'm building a form (not modelForm) where i'd like to use the SelectMultiple Widget to display choices based on a query done during the init of the form. I can think of a few way to do this but I am not exactly clear on the right way to do it. I see different options. I get the "choices" I should pass to the widget in the form init but I am not sure how I should pass them. class NavigatorExportForm(forms.Form): def __init__(self,user, app_id, *args,**kwargs): super (NavigatorExportForm, self ).__init__(*args,**kwargs) # populates the form language_choices = Navigator.admin_objects.get(id=app_id).languages.all().values_list('language', flat=True) languages = forms.CharField(max_length=2, widget=forms.SelectMultiple(choices=???language_choices))

  • UINavigationController (drawRect:)

    - by ludo
Hi, I created an application with a TabBarController, 4 TabBarItems and every TabBarItem have is own NavigationController file (everything created in IB). I'm using the drawRect function to design my navigationBar: @implementation UINavigationBar (customImage) -(void)drawRect:(CGRect)rect { UIImage *image = [UIImage imageNamed:@"MyImage.png"]; [image drawInRect:CGRectMake(0,0, self.frame.size.width,self.frame.size.height)]; } @end The problem is that the NavigationBar change for every ViewController inside my app, what I want is only draw the NavigationBar for one TabBarItem only and use the default navigationBar for other controller. How to do that? Thanks,

  • Trying to recognize _NSFaultingMutableSet as member of NSSet

    - by Will
    I'm trying to recognize the result of a generic query to a managed object as an NSSet. Currently the class returned is a member of _NSFaultingMutableSet, which is clearly related, but fails the isMemberOf:[NSSet class] and isKindOf:[NSSet class] calls. Given that Cocoa doesn't do a direct implementation of NSSet, it's not surprising that I've got some air in the pipes, but I'm wondering if I'm messing something obvious up or this requires a higher grade of kung-fu than I possess. Code follows: SEL selector = NSSelectorFromString(someString); if(![self respondsToSelector:selector]){ NSLog(@"Error processing item"); return; } id items = [self performSelector:selector]; Class itemsClass = [items class]; if ( [itemsClass isKindOfClass:[NSSet class]]) { // do something }

  • Adding STI to Existing Table...

    - by keruilin
I want to add STI to an existing table using a custom type column. Let's call this taste_type whose corresponding model is Fruit. In the Fruit model I have: set_inheritance_column :taste_type In my migration to add STI I have: class AddSTI < ActiveRecord::Migration def self.up add_column :fruits, :taste_type, :string, :limit => 100, :null => false Fruit.reset_column_information Fruit.find_by_id(1).update_attributes({:taste_type => 'Sour'}) end def self.down remove_column :fruits, :taste_type end end When I run the migration, I get the following error: Mysql::Error: Column 'taste_type' cannot be null: ... Any idea what's going? I can get the migration to run if I comment the set_inheritance_column in the Fruit model, then uncomment it after I run the migration. Obviously, I don't want to do this, however.

  • Difference between mutableArrayValueForKey and calling insertObject:inEmployeesAtIndex: directly

    - by jasonbogd
I have a question regarding using KVO-compliant methods to insert/remove objects from an array. I'm working through Aaron Hillegass' Cocoa Programming for Mac OS X and I saw the following line of code (in the insertObject:inEmployeesAtIndex: method: [[undoManager prepareWithInvocationTarget:self] removeObjectFromEmployeesAtIndex:index]; Correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought it was better to call mutableArrayValueForKey: and then removeObjectAtIndex:...so I tried changing the above line to this: [[undoManager prepareWithInvocationTarget:[self mutableArrayValueForKey:@"employees"]] removeObjectAtIndex:index]; And it didn't work. Can someone explain the difference and why the first line works but the second line doesn't?

  • How can I fix this NavigationController and UIToolbar offset issue in Objective-C?

    - by editor
    I'm adding a couple of buttons to an already-existing NavigationController. The two buttons are added to a UIView, which is pushed onto the NavigationItem. The buttons stop and reload a UIWebView. Problem is that there's a slight offset issue that is making it all look pretty ugly. I wish I could set the UIToolbar to transparent or clear background but that doesn't seem to be an option. Can't seem to use negative offsets either. I've got color matching, but if you look closely there's 1px or 2px of highlighting up top that's causing a visual mismatch and then a slight offset at the bottom. Some relevant code below (based on this, inbound Googlers). What are my options to resolve this? // create a toolbar for the buttons UIToolbar* toolbar = [[UIToolbar alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0, 0, 100, 45)]; [toolbar setBarStyle: UIBarStyleDefault]; UIColor *colorForBar = [[UIColor alloc] initWithRed:.72 green:0 blue:0 alpha:0]; toolbar.tintColor = colorForBar; [colorForBar release]; //[toolbar setTranslucent:YES]; // create an array for the buttons NSMutableArray* buttons = [[NSMutableArray alloc] initWithCapacity:3]; // create a standard reload button UIBarButtonItem *reloadButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemRefresh target:self action:@selector(reload)]; reloadButton.style = UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered; [buttons addObject:reloadButton]; [reloadButton release]; // create a spacer between the buttons UIBarButtonItem *spacer = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemFixedSpace target:nil action:nil]; [buttons addObject:spacer]; [spacer release]; // create a standard delete button with the trash icon UIBarButtonItem *stopButton = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithBarButtonSystemItem:UIBarButtonSystemItemStop target:self action:@selector(stopLoading)]; stopButton.style = UIBarButtonItemStyleBordered; [buttons addObject:stopButton]; [stopButton release]; // put the buttons in the toolbar and release them [toolbar setItems:buttons animated:NO]; [buttons release]; // place the toolbar into the navigation bar self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = [[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:toolbar]; [toolbar release];

  • problem with custom NSProtocol and caching on iPhone

    - by TomSwift
My iPhone app embeds a UIWebView which loads html via a custom NSProtocol handler I have registered. My problem is that resources referenced in the returned html, which are also loaded via my custom protocol handler, are cached and never reloaded. In particular, my stylesheet is cached: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./styles.css" /> The initial request to load the html in the UIWebView looks like this: NSString* strUrl = [NSMutableString stringWithFormat: @"myprotocol:///entry?id=%d", entryID ]; NSURL* url = [NSURL URLWithString: strUrl]; [_pCurrentWebView loadRequest: [NSURLRequest requestWithURL: url cachePolicy: NSURLRequestReloadIgnoringLocalCacheData timeoutInterval: 60 ]]; (note the cache policy is set to ignore, and I've verified this cache policy carries through to subsequent requests for page resources on the initial load) The protocol handler loads the html from a database and returns it to the client using code like this: // create the response record NSURLResponse *response = [[NSURLResponse alloc] initWithURL: [request URL] MIMEType: mimeType expectedContentLength: -1 textEncodingName: textEncodingName]; // get a reference to the client so we can hand off the data id client = [self client]; // turn off caching for this response data [client URLProtocol: self didReceiveResponse:response cacheStoragePolicy: NSURLCacheStorageNotAllowed]; // set the data in the response to our jfif data [client URLProtocol: self didLoadData:data]; [data release]; (Note the response cache policy is "not allowed"). Any ideas how I can make it NOT cache my styles.css resource? I need to be able to dynamically alter the content of this resource on subsequent loads of html that references this file. I thought clearing the shared url cache would work, but it doesnt: [[NSURLCache sharedURLCache] removeAllCachedResponses]; One thing that does work, but it's terribly inefficient, is to dynamically cache-bust the url for the stylesheet by adding a timestamp parameter: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="./styles.css?ts=1234567890" /> To make this work I have to load my html from the db, search and replace the url for the stylesheet with a cache-busting parameter that changes on each request. I'd rather not do this. My presumption is that there is no problem if I were to load my content via the built-in HTTP protocol. In that case, I'm guessing that the UIWebView looks at any Cache-Control flags in the NSURLHTTPResponse object's http headers and abides by them. Since my NSURLResponseObject has no http headers (it's not http...) then perhaps UIWebView just decides to cached the resource (ignoring the NSURLRequest caching directive?). Ideas???

  • Objective C - Constants with behaviour

    - by Akshay
Hi, I'm new to Objective C. I am trying to define Constants which have behavior associated with them. So far I have done - @interface Direction : NSObject { NSString *displayName; } -(id)initWithDisplayName:(NSString *)aName; -(id)left; // returns West when North -(id)right; // return East when North @end @implementation Direction -(id)initWithDisplayName:(NSString *)aName { if(self = [super init]) { displayName = aName; } return self; } -(id)left {}; -(id)right {}; @end Direction* North = [Direction initWithDisplayName:@"North"]; // error - initializer element is not constant. This approach results in the indicated error. Is there a better way of doing this in Objective C.

  • Define Instance Variable Outside of Method Defenition (ruby)

    - by Ell
Hi all, I am developing (well, trying to at least) a Game framework for the Ruby Gosu library. I have made a basic event system wherebye each Blocks::Event has a list of handlers and when the event is fired the methods are called. At the moment the way to implement an event is as follows: class TestClass attr_accessor :on_close def initialize @on_close = Blocks::Event.new end def close @on_close.fire(self, Blocks::OnCloseArgs.new) end end But this method of implementing events seems rather long, my question is, how can I make a way so that when one wants an event in a class, they can just do this class TestClass event :on_close def close @on_close.fire(self, Blocks::OnCloseArgs.new) end end Thanks in advance, ell.

  • MKMapView not calling delegate methods

    - by criscokid
In a UIViewController I add a MKMapView to the view controlled by the controller. - (void)viewDidLoad { [super viewDidLoad]; CGRect rect = CGRectMake(0, 0, 460, 320); map = [[MKMapView alloc] initWithFrame:rect]; map.delegate = self; [self.view addSubview:map]; } Later in the controller I have - (void)mapViewDidFinishLoadingMap:(MKMapView *)mapView { NSLog(@"done."); } Done never gets printed. None of the other delegate methods get called either like mapView:viewForAnnotation: I use a MKMapView in an another app, but this seems to happen on any new application I make. Has anyone else seen this behavior? EDIT: The problem seems to be when UIViewController is made the delegate of the MKMapView, a direct subclass of NSObject seems to work okay. I can work around like this, still seems very odd since I've done it before.

  • Python unicode issues (2.6)

    - by ephemeralis
I'm currently working on a irc bot for a multi-lingual channel, and I'm encountering some issues with unicode which are proving nearly impossible to solve. No matter what configuration of unicode encoding I seem to try, the list function which the below code sits within just flat out does nothing (c.notice is a class function which sends a NOTICE command to the irc server) or when it does do something, spits out something which obviously isn't encoded. The command should be sending ??, but instead it seems hellbent on sending å¤©å with a previous configuration of the same commands. The one I have specified below is of the 'send nothing' variety. I haven't worked with unicode before this, and thus I am quite stuck. I'm also positive that I'm doing this completely wrong as a consequence. (compileCMD just takes a list and spits out a single string of all the elements within the list) uk = self.compileCMD(self.faq.keys(),0) ukeys = unicode(uk,"utf-8").encode("utf-8") c.notice(nick, u"Current list of faq entries: %s" % (uk))

  • why is this rails association loading individually after an eager load?

    - by codeman73
I'm trying to avoid the N+1 queries problem with eager loading, but it's not working. The associated models are still being loaded individually. Here are the relevant ActiveRecords and their relationships: class Player < ActiveRecord::Base has_one :tableau end Class Tableau < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :player has_many :tableau_cards has_many :deck_cards, :through => :tableau_cards end Class TableauCard < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :tableau belongs_to :deck_card, :include => :card end class DeckCard < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :card has_many :tableaus, :through => :tableau_cards end class Card < ActiveRecord::Base has_many :deck_cards end and the query I'm using is inside this method of Player: def tableau_contains(card_id) self.tableau.tableau_cards = TableauCard.find :all, :include => [ {:deck_card => (:card)}], :conditions => ['tableau_cards.tableau_id = ?', self.tableau.id] contains = false for tableau_card in self.tableau.tableau_cards # my logic here, looking at attributes of the Card model, with # tableau_card.deck_card.card; # individual loads of related Card models related to tableau_card are done here end return contains end Does it have to do with scope? This tableau_contains method is down a few method calls in a larger loop, where I originally tried doing the eager loading because there are several places where these same objects are looped through and examined. Then I eventually tried the code as it is above, with the load just before the loop, and I'm still seeing the individual SELECT queries for Card inside the tableau_cards loop in the log. I can see the eager-loading query with the IN clause just before the tableau_cards loop as well. EDIT: additional info below with the larger, outer loop Here's the larger loop. It is inside an observer on after_save def after_save(pa) @game = Game.find(turn.game_id, :include => :goals) @game.players = Player.find :all, :include => [ {:tableau => (:tableau_cards)}, :player_goals ], :conditions => ['players.game_id =?', @game.id] for player in @game.players player.tableau.tableau_cards = TableauCard.find :all, :include => [ {:deck_card => (:card)}], :conditions => ['tableau_cards.tableau_id = ?', player.tableau.id] if(player.tableau_contains(card)) ... end end end

  • Does different iVar name change retain count when used with property

    - by russell
Here is 2 code snapshot- Class A:NSObject { NSMutableArray *a; } @property (retain) NSMutableArray *a; @implementation @synthesize a; -(id)init { if(self=[super init]) { a=[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; } } @end Class A:NSObject { NSMutableArray *_a; } @property (retain) NSMutableArray *a; @implementation @synthesize a=_a; -(id)init { if(self=[super init]) { _a=[[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; } } @end Now what i need to know, is in both code instance variable assigned value directly rather than using accessor and retain count is 1? Or there is difference between them. Thanks. And one more things, apple recommended not to use accessor in init/dealloc, but at the same time ask not to directly set iVar. So what is the best way to assign value of ivar in init()??
