  • ‘Empty’ results from MQL Query. Freebase Schema: /film/film/starring & /film/actor/film

    - by user1879631
    First post here, so I hope this is enough detail. I started using freebase-python today to get film information for a program that I’m working on. One thing that I need to grab is a list of actors that starred in a film. I’ve followed some tutorials and guides on the way to do this, and can get a list of films for a director or the director of a film, but when I try to do the same with an actor or a film’s cast, I get ‘null’ results. I have the same problem in both Python and the Freebase MQL Query Editor, and you can see what I've tried below. Links to all of the examples below written in the editor can be found here, as Stack Overflow wouldn't let me post links underneath each example on my first post! Working director query in Python: import freebase fb = freebase.mqlread q = {'type':'/film/film', 'name':'Inception', 'directed_by':[]} fb(q) Working director's filmography query in Python: import freebase fb = freebase.mqlread q = {'type':'/film/director', 'name': 'Christopher Nolan', 'film':[]} fb(q) Based on these tests, I tried to do the same with actors, but with odd results: Not working cast list query in Python: import freebase fb = freebase.mqlread q = {'type':'/film/film', 'name':'Inception', 'starring':[]} fb(q) Not working actor's filmography query in Python: import freebase fb = freebase.mqlread q = {'type':'/film/actor', 'name':'Leonardo DiCaprio', 'film':[]} fb(q) Strangely, I get an accurate number of actors/films back, but no names. Does anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Thanks a lot, I'd appreciate any advice.

  • Can a Compound key be set as a primary key to another table?

    - by Nikos
    Can a compound key be set as a primary key to another table? For instance i have the tables: Books -with Primary Key:Product_ID Client -with Primary key: Client_ID Clients_Books -with Compound Primary Key:Product_Id and Client_ID I want to set this compound Primary key from Clients_Books as a Primary Key to another table named: Order_Details. But I don't want to use the Product_ID and the Client_ID from the Books, Clients tables. Does this make sense? All opinions more than welcome.

  • iPhone SDK 3/4 App will not run on a iPhone 2.x device even with deployment target set to 2.0!

    - by MarqueIV
    Ok... I know about the difference between the base/active SDKs and the deployment target. I have my base SDK set at 4.0 and the deployment target set at 2.0. I am not using any APIs post 2.x, conditional or otherwise. Since I can't debug on a 2.x device, after building it, I use the iPhone Configuration Utility to install the app on the device, which it does just fine. Problem is, it doesn't run! I just get a blank screen. The main window never comes up! Now before you ask... I had this same problem with the iPhone SDK 3.x. I upgraded to the 4.x hoping it would be solved. It wasn't. Yes the provisioning profile is installed. (Couldn't install the app if it wasn't.) This same compiled app works fine on 3.x devices. Same with 4.x devices. Just not 2.x devices. Again, no I am not using any post-2.x SDKs. To prove this I created a brand-new, window-based app from the 'New Project' dialog and the only changes I made was the background color of the window (to prove the XIB loaded) and I set the deployment target to 2.0 (It's still compiled against the 4.x SDK though.) Again, it runs fine on 3.x or 4.x devices, but just a black, blank screen on 2.x devices. I've tried this on three separate 2.x devices included one freshly restored. I've used three separate dev machines (MacBook Pro with the 3.x SDK, MacBook Pro with the 4.x SDK and a Mac Pro with the 3.x SDK.) Same result every time. I am stumped. The fact that even an unmodified project doesn't run really has me confused. Could it be the XIB file? Did they change the format from 2.x to something newer in the 3.x SDK? If so, how do I set it back to 2.x. (Again, this is just a complete guess.) But I'm really stumped! Mark

  • iPhone: Set the title of a UIButton with a single method invocation?

    - by Greg Maletic
    I'd like to set the title of a UIButton via code. I find myself having to call -[UIButton setTitle:forState:] for UIControlStateNormal, UIControlStateHighlighted, UIControlStateDisabled, UIControlStateSelected. And that doesn't even take into account all of the combinations of these states together. Needless to say, this is tiresome. Is there a single call I can make that will set one string as the title for all of the states? (Since, I assume that in 95% of the cases, that's the desired behavior?)

  • Populating objects in C#

    - by acadia
    Hello, I have Order,OrderDetails and OrderStatus objects as shown below: public class Order { public override int OrderId { get; set; } public string FName { get; set; } public string MName { get; set; } public string LName { get; set; } public string Street { get; set; } public string City { get; set; } public List<OrderDetails> OrderDetails { get; set; }; } public class OrderDetails { public override int OrderdetailsId { get; set; } public int OrderId { get; set; } public int ProductID { get; set; } public int Qty { get; set; } public List<OrderStatus> OrderStat { get; set; }; } public class OrderStatus { public override int OrderdetailsStatusId { get; set; } public int OrderdetailsId { get; set; } public int StatusID { get; set; } } I cannot use LinQ. I want to populate the order object like we do in LinQ. How do I populate all all the properties in Order object: for eg. Order o =new Order(); o.FName="John"; o.LName="abc"; o.Street="TStreet"; o.City="Atlanta"; then o.Orderdetails.Add(orderdetails) How do I do that here in C# when not using LinQ.

  • Jetty 6 - QueuedThreadPool versus ThreadPool

    - by Walter White
    Hi all, I am using Jetty 6 and was wondering when the QueuedThreadPool should be used over the ThreadPool? By default, Jetty 6 comes configured with the QueuedThreadPool. My server has Java 6 installed so I was thinking that I should use the ThreadPool: <New class="org.mortbay.thread.QueuedThreadPool"> <Set name="minThreads">10</Set> <Set name="maxThreads">200</Set> <Set name="lowThreads">20</Set> <Set name="SpawnOrShrinkAt">2</Set> </New> <New class="org.mortbay.thread.concurrent.ThreadPool"> <Set name="corePoolSize">50</Set> <Set name="maximumPoolSize">50</Set> </New> Thanks, Walter

Does anybody have a clue why this is the case? Any help would be appreciated.

  • Is O_NONBLOCK being set a property of the file descriptor or underlying file?

    - by Daniel Trebbien
    From what I have been reading on The Open Group website on fcntl, open, read, and write, I get the impression that whether O_NONBLOCK is set on a file descriptor, and hence whether non-blocking I/O is used with the descriptor, should be a property of that file descriptor rather than the underlying file. Being a property of the file descriptor means, for example, that if I duplicate a file descriptor or open another descriptor to the same file, then I can use blocking I/O with one and non-blocking I/O with the other. Experimenting with a FIFO, however, it appears that it is not possible to have a blocking I/O descriptor and non-blocking I/O descriptor to the FIFO simultaneously (so whether O_NONBLOCK is set is a property of the underlying file [the FIFO]): #include <errno.h> #include <fcntl.h> #include <stdio.h> #include <stdlib.h> #include <unistd.h> int main(int argc, char **argv) { int fds[2]; if (pipe(fds) == -1) { fprintf(stderr, "`pipe` failed.\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } int fd0_dup = dup(fds[0]); if (fd0_dup <= STDERR_FILENO) { fprintf(stderr, "Failed to duplicate the read end\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } if (fds[0] == fd0_dup) { fprintf(stderr, "`fds[0]` should not equal `fd0_dup`.\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } if ((fcntl(fds[0], F_GETFL) & O_NONBLOCK)) { fprintf(stderr, "`fds[0]` should not have `O_NONBLOCK` set.\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } if (fcntl(fd0_dup, F_SETFL, fcntl(fd0_dup, F_GETFL) | O_NONBLOCK) == -1) { fprintf(stderr, "Failed to set `O_NONBLOCK` on `fd0_dup`\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } if ((fcntl(fds[0], F_GETFL) & O_NONBLOCK)) { fprintf(stderr, "`fds[0]` should still have `O_NONBLOCK` unset.\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; // RETURNS HERE } char buf[1]; if (read(fd0_dup, buf, 1) != -1) { fprintf(stderr, "Expected `read` on `fd0_dup` to fail immediately\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } else if (errno != EAGAIN) { fprintf(stderr, "Expected `errno` to be `EAGAIN`\n"); return EXIT_FAILURE; } return EXIT_SUCCESS; } This leaves me thinking: is it ever possible to have a non-blocking I/O descriptor and blocking I/O descriptor to the same file and if so, does it depend on the type of file (regular file, FIFO, block special file, character special file, socket, etc.)?

  • Revert scan state when prompting for variable values

    - by Dave Jarvis
    How do you detect the current SCAN state and revert it after changing it? An exerpt from the script in question: SET SCAN OFF SET ECHO ON SET SQLBLANKLINES ON SET SCAN ON UPDATE TABLE_NAME SET CREATED_BY = &&created_by; SET SCAN OFF The problem is that if the script doesn't have the first line (SET SCAN OFF), then the code to prompt the user should not turn the SCAN state off. In pseudocode, we'd like to do the following: SET SCAN OFF SET ECHO ON SET SQLBLANKLINES ON PUSH SCAN STATE SET SCAN ON UPDATE TABLE_NAME SET CREATED_BY = &&created_by; POP SCAN STATE The psudeocode PUSH SCAN STATE remembers the state so that if the code is altered by removing the first line, the rest of the script still works as expected.

  • How do I get a JPanel with an empty JLabel to take up space in a GridBagLayout

    - by user2888663
    I am working on a GUI for a project at school. I am using a GridBagLayout in swing. I want to have a label indicating the input(a type of file @ x = 0, y = 0), followed by another label(the actual file name once selected @ x = 1, y = 0), followed by a browse button for a file chooser( @ x = 2, y = 0). The label at (1,0) is initially blank, however I want the area that the text will occupy to take up some space when the label contains no text. I also want the space between the label at (0,0) and the button at (2,0) to remain constant. To achieve this, I'm trying to put the label onto a panel and then play with the layouts. However I can't seam to achieve the desired results. Could anyone offer some suggestions? The next three rows of the GridBagLayout will be laid out exactly the same way. Here is a link to a screen shot of the GUI. calibrationFileSelectionValueLabel = new JLabel("",Label.LEFT); calibrationFileSelectionValueLabel.setName("calibrationFileSelection"); calibrationFileSelectionValueLabel.setMinimumSize(new Dimension(100,0)); calibrationFileSelectionValuePanel = new JPanel(); calibrationFileSelectionValuePanel.setBorder(BorderFactory.createEtchedBorder()); calibrationFileSelectionValuePanel.add(calibrationFileSelectionValueLabel); c.gridx = 0; c.gridy = 0; c.fill = GridBagConstraints.NONE; filesPanel.add(calibrationFileLabel,c); c.gridy = 1; filesPanel.add(frequencyFileLabel,c); c.gridy = 2; filesPanel.add(sampleFileLabel,c); c.gridy = 3; filesPanel.add(outputFileLabel,c); c.gridx = 1; c.gridy = 0; c.fill = GridBagConstraints.BOTH; // filesPanel.add(calibrationFileSelection,c); filesPanel.add(calibrationFileSelectionValuePanel,c); c.gridy = 1; // filesPanel.add(frequencyFileSelection,c); filesPanel.add(frequencyFileSelectionValueLabel,c); c.gridy = 2; // filesPanel.add(sampleFileSelection,c); filesPanel.add(sampleFileSelectionValueLabel,c); c.gridy = 3; // filesPanel.add(outputFileSelection,c); filesPanel.add(outputFileSelectionValueLabel,c); c.gridx = 2; c.gridy = 0; c.fill = GridBagConstraints.NONE; filesPanel.add(calibrationFileSelectionButton,c); c.gridy = 1; filesPanel.add(frequencyFileSelectionButton,c); c.gridy = 2; filesPanel.add(sampleFileSelectionButton,c); c.gridy = 3; filesPanel.add(createOutputFileButton,c); panelForFilesPanelBorder = new JPanel(); panelForFilesPanelBorder.setBorder(BorderFactory.createCompoundBorder(new EmptyBorder(5,10,5,10), BorderFactory.createEtchedBorder())); panelForFilesPanelBorder.add(filesPanel); buttonsPanel = new JPanel(); buttonsPanel.setLayout(new FlowLayout(FlowLayout.CENTER)); buttonsPanel.setBorder(BorderFactory.createCompoundBorder(new EmptyBorder(5,10,10,10), BorderFactory.createEtchedBorder())); buttonsPanel.add(startButton); buttonsPanel.add(stopButton); basePanel.add(panelForFilesPanelBorder); basePanel.add(numericInputPanel); basePanel.add(buttonsPanel);

  • ASP.NET RadioButtonList help. If I set a selectedItem, that item doesn't react to SelectedIndexChang

    - by Hcabnettek
    Hi Guys, I have a RadioButtonList on my web form. I have tried two different means to set the selected item. I have tried in the markup, and in code, like the Page_Load event. It sets and displays correctly. My problem is that the selected radio button no longer responds to the SelectedIndexChanged event. The other items works as expected and if I remove the code that sets the selectedItem, then the radio button works as expected. Is there any way I can set a radio button through code, and it still behaves as I would expect. I am guessing, if u force a button to be selected, then it doesn't change. Does anyone know how to rememdey this so I can default select it, but still have it behave the way I want? <asp:RadioButtonList ID="rblPaymentType" runat="server" AutoPostBack="True" RepeatDirection="Horizontal" RepeatLayout="Flow"> <asp:ListItem Value="benefit" Text="Benefit" Selected="True"/> <asp:ListItem Value="expense" Text="Expense" /> </asp:RadioButtonList> This lives inside an ascx which I have an event for public delegate void SwitchBenefitTypeHandler(object sender, EventArgs e); public event SwitchBenefitTypeHandler SwitchedBenefit; protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { WireEvents(); } private void WireEvents() { rblPaymentType.SelectedIndexChanged += (sender, args) => SwitchedBenefit(sender, args); } Then on the aspx, I wire a handler function to that event. if (header is PaymentHeader) (header as PaymentHeader).SwitchedBenefit += (paymentForm as PaymentBaseControl).Update; Finally the handler function public override void Update(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (sender is RadioButtonList) { IsExpense = (sender as RadioButtonList).SelectedValue == "expense"; UpdateCalcFlag(); UpdateDropDownDataSources(); UpdatePaymentTypeDropDown(); ResetBenefitLabels(); FormatAmountTextBox(); } } I hope that's enough code. Everything works great when I don't set the SelectedItem in the RadioButtonList but I need it set. Here's a link to someone with the same problem. It is ASP.NET AJAX related.     Note: This is an assignment Hi, I have the following class/constructor. import java.io.*; class Set { public int numberOfElements = 0; public String[] setElements = new String[5]; public int maxNumberOfElements = 5; // constructor for our Set class public Set(int numberOfE, int setE, int maxNumberOfE) { int numberOfElements = numberOfE; String[] setElements = new String[setE]; int maxNumberOfElements = maxNumberOfE; } // Helper method to shorten/remove element of array since we're using basic array instead of ArrayList or HashSet from collection interface :( static String[] removeAt(int k, String[] arr) { final int L = arr.length; String[] ret = new String[L - 1]; System.arraycopy(arr, 0, ret, 0, k); System.arraycopy(arr, k + 1, ret, k, L - k - 1); return ret; } int findElement(String element) { int retval = 0; for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++) { if ( setElements[i] != null && setElements[i].equals(element) ) { return retval = i; } retval = -1; } return retval; } void add(String newValue) { int elem = findElement(newValue); if( numberOfElements < maxNumberOfElements && elem == -1 ) { setElements[numberOfElements] = newValue; numberOfElements++; } } int getLength() { if ( setElements != null ) { return setElements.length; } else { return 0; } } String[] emptySet() { setElements = new String[0]; return setElements; } Boolean isFull() { Boolean True = new Boolean(true); Boolean False = new Boolean(false); if ( setElements.length == maxNumberOfElements ){ return True; } else { return False; } } Boolean isEmpty() { Boolean True = new Boolean(true); Boolean False = new Boolean(false); if ( setElements.length == 0 ) { return True; } else { return False; } } void remove(String newValue) { for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++) { if ( setElements[i].equals(newValue) ) { setElements = removeAt(i,setElements); } } } int isAMember(String element) { int retval = -1; for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++ ) { if (setElements[i] != null && setElements[i].equals(element)) { return retval = i; } } return retval; } void printSet() { for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++) { System.out.println("Member elements on index: "+ i +" " + setElements[i]); } } String[] getMember() { String[] tempArray = new String[setElements.length]; for ( int i = 0; i < setElements.length; i++) { if(setElements[i] != null) { tempArray[i] = setElements[i]; } } return tempArray; } Set union(Set x, Set y) { String[] newXtemparray = new String[x.getLength()]; String[] newYtemparray = new String[y.getLength()]; Set temp = new Set(1,20,20); newXtemparray = x.getMember(); newYtemparray = x.getMember(); for(int i = 0; i < newXtemparray.length; i++) { temp.add(newYtemparray[i]); } for(int j = 0; j < newYtemparray.length; j++) { temp.add(newYtemparray[j]); } return temp; } } // This is the SetDemo class that will make use of our Set class class SetDemo { public static void main(String[] args) { //get input from keyboard BufferedReader keyboard; InputStreamReader reader; String temp = ""; reader = new InputStreamReader(System.in); keyboard = new BufferedReader(reader); try { System.out.println("Enter string element to be added" ); temp = keyboard.readLine( ); System.out.println("You entered " + temp ); } catch (IOException IOerr) { System.out.println("There was an error during input"); } /* ************************************************************************** * Test cases for our new created Set class. * ************************************************************************** */ Set setA = new Set(1,10,10); setA.add(temp); setA.add("b"); setA.add("b"); setA.add("hello"); setA.add("world"); setA.add("six"); setA.add("seven"); setA.add("b"); int size = setA.getLength(); System.out.println("Set size is: " + size ); Boolean isempty = setA.isEmpty(); System.out.println("Set is empty? " + isempty ); int ismember = setA.isAMember("sixb"); System.out.println("Element six is member of setA? " + ismember ); Boolean output = setA.isFull(); System.out.println("Set is full? " + output ); setA.printSet(); int index = setA.findElement("world"); System.out.println("Element b located on index: " + index ); setA.remove("b"); setA.emptySet(); int resize = setA.getLength(); System.out.println("Set size is: " + resize ); setA.printSet(); Set setB = new Set(0,10,10); Set SetA = setA.union(setB,setA); SetA.printSet(); } } I have two question here, why I when I change the class property declaration to: class Set { public int numberOfElements; public String[] setElements; public int maxNumberOfElements; // constructor for our Set class public Set(int numberOfE, int setE, int maxNumberOfE) { int numberOfElements = numberOfE; String[] setElements = new String[setE]; int maxNumberOfElements = maxNumberOfE; } I got this error: \ javaprojects>java SetDemo Enter string element to be added a You entered a Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NullPointerException at Set.findElement(Set.java:30) at Set.add(Set.java:43) at SetDemo.main(Set.java:169) Second, on the union method, why the result of SetA.printSet still printing null, isn't it getting back the return value from union method? Thanks in advance for any explaination. lupin
