Hi to all,
how can I overload or extend (or intercept) jQuery's .html() method so that it works its default way unless the object has a certain class?
Thanks
JQuery
Assume this works: $('table td').load('/my/url/ div p');
I would end up with <td><p>Some Text</p></td>
I want to end up with <td>Some Text</td>
How would I do that?
I am currently running 1.3.2, and i have no problems with it so far. Are there any good reasons why i should have a look at jQuery 1.4.
I know you don't know what type of application i have, but maybe there are some mayor benefits that suits every developer.
Thank you in advance!
I can do this
jQuery.fn.validate = function(options) {
var defaults = {
validateOPtions1 : '',
validateOPtions2 : ''
};
var settings = $.extend({}, defaults, options);
return this.each(function() {
// you validation code goes here
});
};
but that will make validate() available for every element. I could do this to any element: $('some selector').validate().
Is there a way I can make this only available to, say, form elements? eg. $('.mySpecialFormClass').validate()?
I am trying to find the correct syntax to pass a varible to my JQuery Post.
var id = empid;
$.ajax({
type: "POST",
url: "../Webservices/EmployeeService.asmx/GetEmployeeOrders",
data: "{empid: empid}",
contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8",
dataType: "json",
success: function(result) {
alert(result.d);
}
I don't think the data: value is quite right. Someone set me straight?
Thanks!
So i'm trying to render a template with trimpath in IE8, but when passing the template (a jquery object) there is nothing in it. This all works in chrome,safari,firefox.
So to give an example:
var $flickrImageGalleryPreviewTemplate =$('#flickr_image_gallery_preview_template',rootel);
$flickrImageGalleryPreviewTemplate.length)
will result in 0 in IE8 and 1 in FF,Chrome,Safari
I want to make an article rotator similar to http://www.vmagazine.com/
And I want to use jQuery.
I know there are carousels like jCarousel and jQuery Carousel.
There is also the Coda-Slider, but I don't fint it very elegant.
Can anyone suggest a good jQuery method / script for having an article carousel?
I don't want to use MooTools, Prototype etc. since I'm already using jQuery.
Any suggestions anyone?
Strange conflict in my code.
I have function that called from body onload:
var someGlobalVar=new SpecialType();
function OnBodyLoad()
{
someGlobalVar.Bind();
}
but when i include JQuery 1.4.2 to my project i have error that someGlobalVar is undefined.
Why global variable now is undefined and what ways to fix it?
How do I test to see if links are external or internal? Please note:
I cannot hard code the local domain.
I cannot test for "http". I could just as easily be linking to my own site with an http absolute link.
I want to use jQuery / javascript, not css.
I suspect the answer lies somewhere in location.href, but the solution evades me.
Thanks!
When a user clicks a link on my page, I need to, before it gets actioned by the browser, add the param Hello=True to the url.
So, the user clicks MyPage.aspx in and gets sent to MyPage.ASPX?Hello=True instead.
Has to be client side, preferably using jQuery
I can add an attribute to the tags if needed.

I'm making board game and i'm using jquery ui draggable effect for figures. On drag start I send ajax request to other page where I generate droppable places soo the figure can be drag and droped only on those particular places, but the problem is I must move figure twice to take effect. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
I would be very grateful for help.
Guys,
Given the following HTML
<div class"myclass">10</div>
<div class"myclass">25</div>
<div class"myclass">50</div>
<div class"myclass">20</div>
I want Jquery to return the maximum value found on divs with class:"myclass". (This is 50)
I thought of using .find.text() will be a good starting point but cant figure out exactly how,
Help is greatly appreciatted,
Thanks
Hello,
I have created a drop down with JQuery that can be seen here by clicking the Preview button on top:
http://jsbin.com/ubire3/edit
It works fine except for one problem. When i hover over the main hover links (blue ones) quickly eg going horizontally quickly hovering each top menu, the some submenus don't close. How do i make it so that even if i hover fast over them all other submenus are closed?
Thanks.
I am having problems using multiple queues in jQuery. Consider the following example:
$('#example').click(function() {
$(this).delay(1000, 'fx2').queue('fx2', function() {
alert('here');
});
});
The alert never fires. Why?
jquery ui tabs supports loading content through ajax here but if i have already loaded previous content and i click on it again, it stays on the old content until the new content is fully loaded
is there anyway to clear the content right when you click the tab so its clear that a new set of content is loading. I see there is a load event but this fires after the new content is loaded. i need a beforeload event or something like that
any suggestions?
can we use more than one click event in the Jquery
as
$(document).ready(function(){
$(#button).click(function(){
...........click(function(){
...........click(function(){
});
$(this).hide();
});
});
pls help me
I have being using jquery autocomplete. By default it is showing 10 items in the dropdown, i want to increase its number to 20 or customise it according to requirement. i have tried many ways of cache length but none of them is working. pls suggest a way.
I need to check the checked property of a checkbox and perform an action based on the checked property using jQuery.
For example, if the age checkbox is checked, then I need to show a textbox to enter age, else hide the textbox.
But the following code returns false by default:
if($('#isAgeSelected').attr('checked')) {
$("#txtAge").show();
} else {
$("#txtAge").hide();
}
How do I successfully query the checked property?
Using jQuery, how do you check if there is an option selected in a select menu, and if not, assign one of the options as selected.
(The select is generated with a maze of PHP functions in an app I just inherited, so this is a quick fix while I get my head around those :)
I've used Jquery Tools and Fancybox. But these plugins dont work properly in my school's template when using older browser versions like firefox 3.0.1.6
I need to try different plugins with the hopes of them working.
Hi,
I've been scratching my head for hours trying to figure this out. I have this page: http://173.203.72.190/default.aspx. On clicking 'Any Cuisine', a sort of overlay is supposed to open.
It works fine in nearly all browsers except IE6 and Opera. In IE6 and Opera, the jQuery 'overlay' won't open.
Anybody have any ideas why this might be?
Im using the following function to hide a series of forms on a page:
$('.ask').toggle(function() {
$(this).text('-').next('.addtitle').slideDown('fast');
}, function() {
$(this).text('+').next('.addtitle').slideUp('fast');
});
There can be anything from 0 to 5 forms on the page all with the class .ask
What I want to be able to do is to select one form NOT to hide, so the jQuery needs to hide all put one of the forms on the page randomly.
How can I achieve this?
I use jquery.hover to toggle a class when someone mouses over a link. On the iphone when someone taps the link, it toggles the class on, but it doesn't ever toggle the class off until they tap somewhere else.
I have 6 columns in jquery grid..
Initially I need to hide the 6th column for user..
I did that made Visible= false for that perticular column
now I need to make disabled that column perminently that is i should not give access for the user to sort or do something else on the column only readable?
thanks
